FePt multilayer films with and without Al underlayer were prepared by magnetron sputtering on SiO2 substrate and subsequently annealed in vacuum. Experimental results suggest that the existence of Al underlayer can effectively reduce the ordering temperature and increase the coercivity of FePt films. Due to the slight larger lattice constant of Al underlayer than that of FePt films, [Fe (0.66 nm)/Pt (0.84 nm)]30 films begin to order at 350 °C and the coercivity of them reach to 5.7 kOe after annealing at 400 °C for half an hour.  相似文献

FePt (20 nm) films with AgCu (20 nm) underlayer were prepared on thermally oxidized Si (0 0 1) substrates at room temperature by using dc magnetron sputtering, and the films annealed at different temperature to examine the disorder–order transformation of the FePt films. It is found that the ordered L10 FePt phase can form at low annealing temperature. Even after annealing at 300 °C, the in-plane coercivity of 5.2 kOe can be obtained in the film. With increase in annealing temperature, both the ordering degree and coercivity of the films increase. The low-temperature ordering of the films may result from the dynamic stress produced by phase separation in AgCu underlayer and Cu diffusion into FePt phase during annealing.  相似文献

In the present study, we succeeded in accelerating the L10 ordering transition of FePt thin films by employing amorphous Ni-Al as underlayers. The coercivity Hc = 5 kOe and ordering parameter S = 0.67 of FePt thin films deposited on a Ni-Al underlayer with a thickness of ∼5 nm after 380 °C annealing for 30 min are significantly higher than those Hc = 0.4 kOe and S = 0.35 of the films without the Ni-Al underlayer. The L10 ordering process of and the coercivity of FePt thin films can be significantly tuned by varying the thickness of the Ni-Al underlayer.  相似文献

N-doped FePt-C nanocomposite films were fabricated using facing-target sputtering method under different N2 partial pressures (PN) at room temperature. Annealing at 650 °C turns the amorphous films into ordered structures. Nitrogen doping not only make the ordering of FePt particles easier than the ordering in FePt-C films, due to the enhanced diffusivity of Fe and Pt atoms, but also effectively limits the growth of the FePt particles during the thermal induced ordering, especially for the annealed films fabricated at PN = 40%, where the average size of well-isolated FePt particles is only ∼8 nm. The particle size reduction and the enhanced diffusion of Fe and Pt atoms can be ascribed to the desorption of doped N atoms and dissociation of FeN bonds during annealing. The room-temperature coercivity of the samples decreases with the PN due to the particle size reduction and thus the enhancement of the thermal agitation for small particles during the magnetizing procedure.  相似文献

The effect of Cr100−xTix underlayer on orderd-L10 FePt films was investigated. A low-temperature ordering of FePt films could be attained through changing the Ti content of Cr100−xTix underlayer. The ordering temperature of the 30 nm FePt film grown on 20 nm Cr90Ti10 underlayer was reduced to 250 °C which is practical manufacture process temperature. An in-plane coercivity was very high to 6000 Oe and a ratio of remnant magnetization (Mr) to saturation magnetization (Ms) was as large as 0.85. This result indicates that the coercivity obtained at 250 °C by the effect of CrTi underlayer is significantly higher than those obtained at 250-275 °C by the effect of underlayers in other conventional studies. The prominent improvement of the magnetic properties of ordered FePt thin films at low temperature of 250 °C could be understood with considering the strain-induced ordering phase transformation associated with lattice mismatch between Cr underlayer and FePt magnetic layer due to an addition of Ti content.  相似文献

Series of [FePt(4min)/Fe(tFe)]10 multilayers have been prepared by RF magnetron sputtering and post-annealing in order to optimize their magnetic properties by structural designs. The structure, surface morphology, composition and magnetic properties of the deposited films have been characterized by X-ray diffractometer (XRD), Rutherford backscattering (RBS), scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscope (EDX) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). It is found that after annealing at temperatures above 500 °C, FePt phase undergoes a phase transition from disordered FCC to ordered FCT structure, and becomes a hard magnetic phase. X-ray diffraction studies on the series of [FePt/Fe]n multilayer with varying Fe layer thickness annealed at 500 and 600 °C show that lattice constants change with Fe layer thickness and annealing temperature. Both lattice constants a and c are smaller than those of standard ones, and lattice constant a decreases as Fe layer deposition time increases. Only a slight increase in grain size was observed as Fe layer decreased in samples annealed at 500 °C. However, the increase in grain size is large in samples annealed at 600 °C. The coercivities of [FePt/Fe]n multilayers decrease with Fe layer deposition time, and the energy product (BH)max reaches a maximum in the samples with Fe layer deposition time of 3 min. Comparison of magnetic properties with structure showed an almost linear relationship between the lattice constant a and the coercivities of the FePt phase.  相似文献

L10-ordered FePt thin films prepared by molecular-beam epitaxy on MgO (0 0 1) substrate at 320 °C with different thickness of Pt buffer layer have been investigated. The out-of-plane coercivity increases with increasing thickness of Pt buffer. The maximum values of the long-range order parameter and uniaxial magnetic anisotropy energy are 0.72 and 1.78×107 erg/cm3, respectively, for films with 12 nm thick Pt buffer layer, where the c/a ratio (0.976) shows the minimum value. The reason for the enhancement in ordering is due to the proper lattice strains Pt buffer bestows on FePt layer, these strains are equal to the contraction in lattice parameter c and the expansion in a. Studies of angular-dependent coercivity revealed that the magnetization reversal behaviour shifts from a domain-wall motion dominated case towards a near rotational mode with increasing thickness of Pt buffer layer.  相似文献

A method based on strain-induced phase transformation was used to lower the ordering temperature of FePt films. The strain resulted from the lattice mismatch between the FePt film and the substrate or underlayer favored the ordering. The relationships between the lattice mismatch, the ordering of FePt film, and the corresponding magnetic anisotropic constant were investigated. A critical lattice mismatch near 6.33% was believed to be most suitable for improving the chemical ordering of the FePt films. CrX (X=Ru, Mo, W, Ti) alloys with (2 0 0) texture was used to control the easy axis and ordering temperature of FePt films on glass substrate. Large uniaxial anisotropy constant Ku?1×107 erg/cm3, good magnetic squareness (∼1) and FePt(0 0 1) texture (rocking curve −5°) were obtained at the temperature Ts?250 °C when using CrRu underlayer. The diffusion from overlying layers of Ag and Cu and an inserted Ag pinning layer were effective in reducing the exchange decoupling and changing the magnetization reversal. The media noise was effectively reduced and the SNR was remarkably enhanced when a 2 nm Ag was inserted.  相似文献

The coercivity of a Co/Pt multilayer with out-of-plane anisotropy can be lowered greatly if it is grown onto an ultrathin NiO underlayer . By making use of this characteristic, a series of samples glass/NiO(10 Å)/[Co(4 Å)/Pt(5 Å)]3/Pt(x Å)/[Co(4 Å)/Pt(5 Å)]3 with different Pt spacer thickness have been prepared to determine the ferromagnetic (FM) coupling between Co layers across the Pt layer. The measurements of major and minor hysteresis loops have shown that the FM coupling between the top and bottom Co/Pt multilayers decreases monotonically with the Pt layer thickness and disappears above the Pt layer thickness of 40 Å. This thickness of 40 Å is much larger than that in the literature. In addition to the FM coupling between the top and bottom Co/Pt multilayers across the Pt spacer, there exists a weak biquadratic coupling, which induces the broad transition of the bottom Co/Pt multilayer.  相似文献

FePt (20 nm) films were annealed in a magnetic field (along the normal direction of the films) at a temperature around the Curie temperature of L10 FePt. The influence of magnetic filed annealing on texture and magnetic properties of FePt films were investigated. The results indicate that preferential (0 0 1) orientation and perpendicular anisotropy can be obtained in L10 FePt films by using magnetic field annealing around the Curie temperature of L10 FePt. This is one of the potential methods to obtain (0 0 1) orientation and thus to improve the perpendicular anisotropy in FePt films.  相似文献

We report (FePt)Ag-C granular thin films for potential applications to ultrahigh density perpendicular recording media, that were processed by co-sputtering FePt, Ag, and C targets on MgO underlayer deposited on thermally oxidized Si substrates. (FePt)1−xAgx-yvol%C (0<x<0.2, 0<y<50) films were fabricated on oxidized silicon substrates with a 10 nm MgO interlayer at 450oC. We found that the Ag additions improved the L10 ordering and the granular structure of the FePt-C films with the perpendicular coercivity ranging from 26 to 37 kOe for the particle size of 5-8 nm. The (FePt)0.9Ag0.1-50vol%C film showed the optimal magnetic properties as well as an appropriate granular morphology for recording media, i.e., average grain size of Dav=6.1 nm with the standard deviation of 1.8 nm.  相似文献

High-coercivity Au(60 nm)/FePt(δ nm)/Au(60 nm) trilayer samples were prepared by sputtering at room temperature, followed by post annealing at different temperatures. For the sample with δ=60 nm, L10 ordering transformation occurs at 500 °C. Coercivity (Hc) is increased with the annealing temperature in the studied range 400–800 °C. The Hc value of the trilayer films is also varied with thickness of FePt intermediate layer (δ), from 27 kOe for δ=60 nm to a maximum value of 33.5 kOe for δ=20 nm. X-ray diffraction data indicate that the diffusion of Au atoms into the FePt L10 lattice is negligible even after a high-temperature (800 °C) annealing process. Furthermore, ordering parameter is almost unchanged as δ is reduced from 60 to 15 nm. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) photos indicate that small FePt Ll0 particles are dispersed amid the large-grained Au. We believe that the high coercivity of the trilayer sample is attributed to the small and uniform grain sizes of the highly ordered FePt particles which have perfect phase separation with Au matrix.  相似文献

The structural and magnetic properties of ∼12 nm thick FePt thin films grown on Si substrates annealed using a 1064 nm wavelength laser with a 10 ms pulse have been examined. The A1 to L10 ordering phase transformation was confirmed by electron and X-ray diffraction. An order parameter near 50% and a maximum coercivity of 12 kOe were obtained with laser energy densities of 25-32 J/cm2. Grain growth, quantified by dark field transmission electron microscopy, occurred during chemical ordering at the laser pulse widths studied.  相似文献

We have investigated the effect of Ge, GePt underlayers on the formation of ordered L10 FePt films. With Ge underlayer, the Ge3Pt2 compound was formed during post-annealing at 400 °C for 1 h. Interlayer diffusion of Ge and FePt layer suppress the formation of ordered L10 FePt phase. With Ge2Pt3 underlayer, the FePt film was ordered at 350 °C and the in-plane coercivity was 5.1 kOe. The ordering temperature was reduced to about 50 °C compared to the single-layer FePt film.  相似文献

FexPt100−x(30 nm) and [FexPt100−x(3 nm)/ZrO2]10 (x = 37, 48, 57, 63, 69) films with different ZrO2 content were prepared by RF magnetron sputtering technique, then were annealed at 550 °C for 30 min. This work investigates the effect of ZrO2 doping on the microstructural evolution, magnetic properties, grain size, as well as the ordering kinetics of FePt alloy films. The as-deposited films behaved a disordered state, and the ordered L10 structure was obtained by post-annealing. The magnetic properties of the films are changed from soft magnetism to hard magnetism after annealing. The variation of the largest coercivities of [FexPt100−x/ZrO2]10 films with the Fe atomic percentage, x and differing amounts of ZrO2 content reveals that as we increase the ZrO2 content we must correspondingly increase the amount of Fe. This phenomenon suggests that the Zr or O atoms of ZrO2 preferentially react with the Fe atoms of FePt alloy to form compounds. In addition, introducing the nonmagnetic ZrO2 can reduce the intergrain exchange interactions of the FePt/ZrO2 films, and the interactions are decreased as the ZrO2 content increases, the dipole interactions are observed in FePt/ZrO2 films as the ZrO2 content is more than 15%.  相似文献

FePt films that have a high degree of order S in their L10 structure (S>0.90) and well-defined [0 0 1] crystalline growth perpendicular to the film plane were fabricated on thermally oxidized Si substrates by the addition of an oxide and successive rapid thermal annealing (RTA). The mechanism of L10 ordering and [0 0 1] crystalline growth perpendicular to the film plane arising through the oxide addition and RTA process is also discussed. The L10 ordering (S>0.90) and the [0 0 1] crystalline growth were achieved by (1) lowering the activation energy due to in-plane tensile stress and the initiation of L10 ordering at a low temperature, (2) [0 0 1] crystalline growth through in-plane tensile stress, and (3) enhancement of atomic diffusion via the addition of an oxide and the resultant lowering of the ordering temperature. Effect (1) was observed in the case of SiO2 addition, effect (2) was generally observed in the case of oxide addition and the RTA process, and effect (3) was prominent in the case of ZnO addition. With the addition of ZnO, the L10 ordering started at below 400 °C and was completed at 500 °C. Finally, dot patterns were successfully fabricated down to a diameter of 15 nm using electron beam lithography, and the magnetic state of the dot pattern was observed by magnetic force microscopy.  相似文献

FePt/B4C multilayer composite films were prepared by magnetron sputtering and subsequent annealing in vacuum. By changing Fe layer thickness of [Fe/Pt]6/B4C films, optimal magnetic property (8.8 kOe and remanence squareness is about 1.0) is got in [Fe(5.25 nm)/Pt(3.75 nm)]6/B4C sample whose composition is Fe rich and near stoichiometric ratio. The characterizations of microstructure demonstrate that the diffusion of B and C atoms into FePt layer depends strongly on B4C interlayer thickness. When B4C interlayer thickness of [Fe(2.625 nm)/Pt(3.75 nm)/Fe(2.625 nm)/B4C]6 films is bigger than 3 nm, stable value of grain size (6-6.5 nm), coercivity (6-7 kOe) and hardness (16-20 GPa) is observed. Finally, the multifunctional single FePt/B4C composite film may find its way to substitute traditional three-layer structure commonly used in present data storage technology.  相似文献

[Co(30 Å)/Pt(x Å)]20 multilayers with the Pt layer thicknesses varying from 5 Å to 20 Å were characterized structurally by high angle X-ray diffraction, X-ray reflectivity, X-ray absorption spectroscopy and magnetically by X-ray magnetic circular dichroism. It is found that the structure and magnetic properties of Pt have a strong correlation with the Pt layer thickness. The 20 Å thickness Pt layer is not almost influenced by the adjacent Co layer and the nearest neighbors are dominated by Pt-Pt shells. With decreasing Pt layer thickness, the nearest neighbors are gradually dominated by Pt-Co shells and the Pt-Co intermixing regions also remarkable increase at the interfaces, especially for the 5 Å thickness Pt layer. The orbital and spin magnetic moments as well as the ratio morb/mspin all decrease systematically with increasing Pt layer thickness, indicating that the interface atoms are polarized by direct Pt-Co hybridization, but that the adjacent layers are polarized by Pt-Pt interactions.  相似文献

Present study reports effect of swift heavy ion irradiation on structural and magnetic properties of sputtered Fe/W multilayer structures (MLS) having bilayer compositions of [Fe(20 Å)/W(10 Å)]5BL and [Fe(20 Å)/W(30 Å)]5BL. These MLS are irradiated by 120 MeV Au9+ ions up to fluence of 4 × 1013 ions/cm2. X-ray reflectivity (XRR), wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD), cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy (X-TEM) and magneto optical Kerr effect (MOKE) techniques are used for structural and magnetic characterization of pristine and irradiated MLS. Analysis of XRR data using Parratt's formalism shows a significant increase in W/Fe interface roughness. WAXD and X-TEM studies reveals that intra-layer microstructure of Fe-layers in MLS becomes nano-crystalline on irradiation. MOKE study shows increase in coercivity at higher fluence, which may be due to increase in surface and interface roughness after recrystallization of Fe-layers.  相似文献

We evidenced an early-stage ordering (ESO) in Fe51Pt49 film before the appearance of superlattice diffraction (long-range-order, LRO) using 40-nm-thick films prepared by magnetron sputtering onto quartz substrate. The appearance of L10 phase for samples deposited at substrate temperatures (Ts) 400 °C and higher was verified by X-ray diffraction. Surface roughness of Fe51Pt49 films, obtained via X-ray specular reflectivity with computational fitting, increases from 3.8 to 11 Å as Ts is increased from 25 to 275 °C. As further increase of Ts to 375 °C, the roughness drops to 3.2 Å and then increases again to 38 Å with Ts up to 700 °C. Measurement on residual strain demonstrates that it is initially compressive at Ts<400 °C. Thereafter the strain transfers to a tensile one and increases in magnitude as increasing Ts up to 700 °C corresponding to LRO transformation. Local atomic rearrangement is observed for samples deposited at Ts>250 °C by using extended X-ray absorption fine structure. Coercivity of films increases from 10 to 460 Oe as Ts increase from 25 to 375 °C (ESO) and then from 460 to 10,700 Oe with Ts 375-700 °C (normal LRO). The worked out quantitative estimation of ESO engages with that of LRO before Ts 400 °C.  相似文献
