利用波长为532 nm的皮秒脉冲激光,研究了掺Er3 玻璃的光限幅特性和反饱和吸收.当入射功率不断增加且超过一定阈值时,透射功率不再随着入射功率快速增大,而是逐渐趋向于较稳定状态,从而实现了对强激光的光限幅效应.进一步利用布居速率方程讨论了其机制并给出了激发态的吸收截面,结果表明激发态吸收是其主要的光限幅机理. 相似文献

根据光的衍射理论,建立了非线性光学介质对高斯光束的开孔Z 扫描理论模型.数值计算表明,当相移比值Γ≤0.15,出射光功率随入射光功率的增加出现振荡衰减现象;当Γ>0.15,在输入光强低于某一个值时,输出随输入的增加而线性增加;当输入光强超过该值后,输出功率不再增加甚至趋于零.实验采用Nd∶YAG脉冲激光,在波长为532 nm,脉宽8 ns条件下,对含3.5%和7.0%碳纳米管的聚苯胺/碳纳米管复合体薄膜(PANI/MWCNT)的非线性吸收特性进行了研究.计算表明,该类化合物的激发态吸收截面积远大于其基态吸收截面积,具有很强的反饱和吸收. 相似文献

The main achievements in our research on the physical phenomena of the excited-state nonlinear absorption in a molecular system and its applications in photonic technology are described. In the first part of this paper, some energy-level models and rate-equations are used to explain various mechanisms of the excited-state nonlinear absorption under differ-ent conditions, such as reverse saturable absorption caused by the triplet and/or the singlet excited-state absorption; saturable absorption due to the first and/or the second singlet excited-state absorption; and the excited-state nonlinear absorption induced by two-photon absorption. The experimental results for metal-organic and C60 materials irradiated by ps and ns laser pulses are consistent with the simulated curves of the transmittance versus flu-ences. In the second part, the applications of excited-state nonlinear absorption in photonic techniques including optical bistability, optical switching, optical limiting, optical modula-tion, optical logic and optical storage are introduced. The working principles of the photonic devices based on the excited-state nonlinear absorption are presented. The experimental characteristic curves are found in good agreement with the theoretical simulations for these devices. 相似文献

We report here the studies on third-order nonlinear optical properties of two novel polythiophene composite films investigated
using the Z-scan technique. The measurements were carried out using a Q-switched, frequency doubled Nd:YAG laser producing
7 nanosecond laser pulses at 532 nm. Z-scan results reveal that the composite films exhibit self-defocusing nonlinearity.
The real and imaginary parts of the third-order nonlinear optical susceptibility were of the order 10−12 esu. The effective excited-state absorption cross section was found to be larger than the ground state absorption cross section,
indicating that the operating nonlinear mechanism is reverse saturable absorption (RSA). The polythiophene composite films
also exhibit good optical power limiting of the nanosecond laser pulses. The nonlinear optical parameters are found to increase
on increasing the strength of the electron-donor group, indicating the dependence of χ
(3) on the electron-donor/acceptor units of polythiophenes. 相似文献

We present a dynamical theory of nonlinear absorption and propagation of a laser pulse train that contains 20 subpulses with an individual pulse width of 100 ps. It is shown that the accumulative nonlinearity and the reverse saturation absorption play important roles in the optical limiting performance and pulse shaping. When the incident field is not too strong, the population transfer reveals a slow response process, and the periodic sequence of short light pulses can be regarded as a continuous long pulse. The general theory is applied to fullerence C60, which is a popular reverse saturable absorption material and a good limiter because of its larger excited-state absorption cross-section compared with that of the ground state. The propagation of the front subpulses is mainly affected by the linear transition between the ground state and the first excited singlet state, while the latter subpulses are attenuated by the excited-state absorption. Moreover, these two different kinds of absorption mechanisms result in different radial distributions for different subpulses. The pulse propagation is studied by solving numerically the coupled rate equations and the propagation equation of the optical pulse intensity, using experimental parameters as input. We suggest a new method to measure the lifetime of the triplet state. 相似文献

The theoretical study of the propagation of a bell-shaped light pulse through a saturable absorber having excited-state absorption is presented. Assuming that the pulse-width is longer than the first excited-state lifetime of the absorber, a general expression for the steady-state transmission of the absorber is obtained. It is shown that when the excited-state absorption cross-section is larger than the ground-state absorption cross-section (reverse saturable absorber) the absorber acts as a power limiter. An explicit expression for the change of temporal pulse-width in a single transit through the absorber is obtained, which shows that the pulse-width increases due to the presence of excited-state absorption. An analytical expression is presented for the optimum pulse intensity at which the maximum pulse broadening occurs. 相似文献
