包含左手材料的四层平板波导中的光导模   总被引:3,自引:2,他引:1  
研究一个芯子层是左手材料,其他三层由传统材料构成的四层平板光波导系统,利用图解法对各种TE偏振的导波模式的解进行详细分析.研究表明,四层左手材料光波导既能支持振荡导模,也能支持表面导模,与三层左手材料光波导相比较,此四层波导的导波模式呈现一些新的特性.对于中间传统材料层存在振荡场的情形:芯子层支持振荡导模的光波导中存在基模,并且高阶振荡导模出现模式缺失的性质;芯子层支持表面导模的光波导可以支持基模和多个高阶模式,并且存在模式兼并的性质.对于中间传统材料层存在衰减场的情形,此四层波导结构可等效为三层左手材料光波导.这些新的光波导传输性质对各种光波导器件的制作有潜在的应用价值.  相似文献

利用传输矩阵方法对纤锌矿型量子级联激光器有源区的界面与受限声子进行了研究.计算结果显示:在纵光学频域有一组界面声子与二组受限声子存在,而且最低频率的两个界面声子在一定条件下能转变为受限模式.通过比较界面声子与受限声子的色散及声子势发现两者有很大不同,且计算电声散射速率可以发现由这两种声子引起的散射率是可比拟的.  相似文献

基于具有局域-非周期-类结构的活性无序介质中的复杂局域模与合适泵浦光的相互作用模型,研究活性无序介质中泵浦功率对局域模发射的影响,定性解释了泵浦功率对局域模发射的影响.结果表明,局域-非周期-类结构的无序介质的透射谱只与介质的结构有关,而与介质的损耗和增益无关,不同的激发模具有不同的泵浦功率阈值.  相似文献

The graphene-based double-barrier waveguides induced by electric field have been investigated. The guided modes can only exist in the case of Klein tunneling, and the fundamental mode is absent. The guided modes in the single-barrier waveguide split into symmetric and antisymmetric modes with different incident angles in the double-barrier waveguide.The phase difference between electron states and hole states is also discussed. The phase difference for the two splitting modes is close to each other and increases with the order of guided modes. These phenomena can be helpful for the potential applications in graphene-based optoelectronic devices.  相似文献

Within the framework of the dielectric-continuum model and Loudon's uniaxial crystal model, the equation of motion for p-polarization field in arbitrary wurtzite multilayer heterostructures are solved for the quasi-confined phonon (QC) modes. The polarization eigenvector, the dispersion relation, and the electron-QC interaction Fröhlich-like Hamiltonian are derived by using the transfer-matrix method. The dispersion relations and the electron-QC coupling strength are investigated for a wurtzite GaN/AlN single QW. The results show that there are infinite branches of dispersion curve with definite symmetry with respect to the center of the QW structure. The confinement of the quasi-confined phonons in the QW leads to a quantization of qz,j characterized by an integer m that defines the order of corresponding quasi-confined modes. The QC modes are more dispersive for decreasing m. The QC modes display an interface behavior in the barrier and a confined behavior in the well. The symmetric modes have more contribution to electron-QC interaction than the antisymmetric modes. The strains have more effect on symmetry modes, and can be ignored for symmetry modes.  相似文献

使用平面波展开法计算了二维正方格子介质柱光子晶体在改变中央介质柱半径的情况下谐振腔的模式,根据所计算的局域模式场分布的对称关系,研究了二维光子晶体谐振腔模式的简并性.结果表明:具有C4v对称群光子晶体谐振腔,存在着二重简并偶极模和二重简并六极模,同时也存在非简并单极模和四极模,二重简并模的90°旋转态与其形成简并对.模式的简并与非简并可以直观地通过考察模式场分布的对称关系而得到.  相似文献

An asymmetric quantum well in graphene can act as a slab waveguide for electron waves in a manner analogous to the electromagnetic waves in dielectrics. Guided modes and the probability current density are analyzed in the graphene electron waveguide induced by asymmetric electrostatic potential. The modes in an asymmetric graphene waveguide include guided modes, “cover modes”, “substrate modes” and “radiation modes”. The conditions for a guided mode are quantified. It is found that the fundamental mode is absent when both the Klein tunneling and classical motion are present. The confinement of electrons for lower order mode is stronger than for higher order mode. We hope that these characteristics in asymmetric graphene waveguide can provide potential applications in graphene-based waveguide devices.  相似文献

The mode expansion propagation method is a modelling technique for a large variety of waveguide components. Until now only the case with TE modes has been reported; we give details on the mode expansion propagation method for TM modes. Instead of one type of overlap integral in the TE case, a TM analysis requires two kinds of overlap integrals. The inclusion of radiation modes in this method is discussed. The modifications in the algorithm to include waveguides with gain or loss structures are also considered.As an example, the method was used for analysing a grating-assisted codirectional coupler. In particular, the radiation loss is calculated and compared with calculations when TE modes, instead of TM modes, propagate through the codirectional coupler. The radiation losses are found to be much higher for TM modes.  相似文献

Nonlinear parabolized stability equations are employed in this work to investigate the nonlinear development of the Grtler instability up to the saturation stage. The perturbed boundary layer is highly inflectional both in the normalwise and spanwise directions and receptive to the secondary instabilities. The Floquet theory is applied to solve the fundamental,subharmonic and detuned secondary instabilities. With the Grtler-vortices-distorted base flow,two classes of secondary disturbances,i.e. odd modes and even modes,are identified according to the eigenfunctions of the disturbances. These modes may result in diferent patterns in the late stages of the transition process. Li and Malik [1] have shown the sinuous and varicose types of breakdown originating from the odd and even modes. The current study focuses on the four most amplified modes termed the even modes Ⅰ Ⅱ and odd modes Ⅰ Ⅱ. Odd mode II was missing in the work of Li and Malik [1] probably due to their inviscid simplification. The detuned modes are confirmed to be less amplified than the fundamental(for the odd mode Ⅰ) and subharmonic modes(for even modes Ⅰ Ⅱ and the odd mode Ⅱ).  相似文献

By taking the influence of optical phonon modes into account, this paper adopts the dielectric continuum phonon model and force balance equation to investigate the electronic mobility parallel to the interfaces for AlAs/GaAs semiconductor quantum wells (QWs) under hydrostatic pressure. The scattering from confined phonon modes, interface phonon modes and half-space phonon modes are analysed and the dominant scattering mechanisms in wide and narrow QWs are presented. The temperature dependence of the electronic mobility is also studied in the temperature range of optical phonon scattering being available. It is shown that the electronic mobility reduces obviously as pressure increases from 0 to 4GPa, the confined longitudinal optical (LO) phonon modes play an important role in wide QWs, whereas the interface optical phonon modes are dominant in narrow QWs, the half-space LO phonon modes hardly influence the electronic mobility expect for very narrow QWs.  相似文献

The communication modes are a useful concept in studies of optical resolution, wave propagation, and image synthesis. We present an overview of earlier results on the communication modes in scalar diffraction theory. Besides the general theory, the modes are reviewed for the far-field and Fresnel regimes, and new eigenequations are derived for wide-angle diffraction. We prove a conjugate relationship between the transmitting and receiving modes in a general symmetric system. We also suggest an approximate method for far-field and Fresnel domain propagation, in which propagation amounts to a rotation of each mode in the complex plane. The main focus is on the near-field communication modes, where we present numerical examples of the modes and coupling strengths for a near-field geometry with a sub-wavelength size receiving domain. These results provide insights, for example, into the understanding of near-field scanning probe techniques.  相似文献

The long wavelength modes of a system of two kinds of particles are studied starting from first principles while accounting for the presence of Coulomb interactions. It is shown that in order to cope with the Coulomb singularity the use of two-fluid hydrodynamical variables is indicated. Microscopic expressions for the various hydrodynamical modes as well as a number of interspecies relaxation modes are obtained for arbitrary density and coupling. In this paper only the transverse modes are considered. The results for the longitudinal modes as well as their contribution to a number of correlation functions will be considered in two compagnon papers.  相似文献

Peculiar vibrational modes of graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) with topological line defects were presented. We find that phonon dispersion relations of the topological defective GNRs are more similar to those of perfect armchair-edge GNR than to zigzag-edge GNR in spite of their zigzag edge. All vibrational modes at Γ point are assigned in detail by analyzing their eigenvectors and are presented by video. Three types of characteristic vibrational modes, namely, localized vibrational modes in defect sites, edges, and breathing modes, are observed. Five localized vibrational modes near the defect sites are found to be robust against the width of the topological line-defective GNR. The Raman D’ band just originates from one localized mode, 1622 cm-1. The vibrational mode is sensitive to symmetry. The edge modes are related with structural symmetry but not with widths. Two edge modes are asymmetrical and only one is symmetrical. The breathing modes are inversely proportional to the width for wide-defect GNRs, and inversely proportional to the square root of the width for narrow-defect GNRs. The breathing mode frequencies of defective GNRs are slightly higher than those of perfect GNRs. These vibrational modes may be useful in the manipulation of thermal conductance and implementation of single phonon storage.  相似文献

We study the modal structure of an acoustic field of a point source as function of channel wall admittance in the case of a two-dimensional channel. The characteristic equation for determining the eigen-values corresponding to the boundary problem is studied in the form of this equation??s dependence on the admittance, which varies in the entire complex plane. All modes, without exception, existing in the channel and forming the source field are classified based on the obtained topography of the characteristic equation. The expressions that describe the amplitudes and spatial distribution of the hydrodynamic modes, attenuation rate (for stable modes), or increment (for unstable modes) were obtained as functions of the wall admittance and flow velocity. It is shown that in addition to the hydrodynamic unstable modes existing downstream from the source, hydrodynamic unstable modes exist upstream from the source at any admittance. They appear only when the admittance has an elastic character. It is shown that hydrodynamic modes are induced only in the case when the source is located close to the wall or on the wall. The amplitude of these modes decreases exponentially with distance from the wall.  相似文献

讨论了麦克斯韦方程在各向同性均匀电介质中的电磁对偶变换不变性,定义了电磁混合比,求出了对偶场的充要条件.把上述不变性和充要条件应用于阶跃光纤,分析其导波模式,证明在非轴对称情况下,阶跃光纤中不存在具有色散的受导简正模.存在的解只有临界折射模(n=n2时的特解).求出了它的分立频谱.受导简正模只存在于轴对称情况中.以上结论与实验事实不矛盾,并由此解释了基模的特性 关键词: 光纤光学 光波导 电磁对偶变换 受导波  相似文献

Strong optical feedback in a birefringent dual frequency He--Ne laser with a high reflectivity feedback mirror has been investigated for the first time. The output characteristics of two orthogonally polarized modes are demonstrated in two different optical feedback cases: one is for both modes being fed back and the other is for only one of the modes being fed back. Strong mode competition can be observed between the two modes with strong optical feedback. And when one mode's intensity is near its maximum, the other mode is nearly extinguished. When both modes are fed back into the laser cavity, the mode competition is stronger than when only one mode is fed back. The difference in initial intensity between the two orthogonally polarized modes plays an important role in the mode competition, which has been experimentally and theoretically demonstrated.  相似文献

This study is concerned with the problem of electromagnetic wave propagation in a magneto-plasma filled coaxial structure. The problem is formulated using the classical boundary value problem approach. Based on this formulation an extensive numerical investigation is performed. The numerical investigation shows the existence of propagating slow modes, backward modes, a quasi-TEM mode, and waveguide-type modes in a magneto-plasma filled coaxial structure. Dispersion curves for these different modes are presented. The dependence of the different modes on various plasma parameters is considered.  相似文献

The transfer matrix method was used to study the resonant modes in photonic quantum well by stacking different photonic crystals consisting of positive index materials and negative index materials. The eigenfrequency equation for the resonant modes is derived. It is found that these resonant modes are omnidirectional, and the number of resonant modes is equal to the period number of photonic quantum wells. Moreover, the resonant modes become N-fold splitting in the N photonic quantum wells. The splitting intervals increase with the deceasing of photonic barrier thickness due to the coupling among the wells.  相似文献

Within the framework of the macroscopic dielectric continuum model, the interface-optical-propagating (IO-PR) mixing phonon modes of a quasi-zero-dimensional (Q0D) wurtzite cylindrical quantum dot (QD) structure are derived and studied. The approximative analytical-phonon-states of IO-PR mixing modes are given. It is found that there are two types of IO-PR mixing phonon modes, i.e. ρ-IO/z-PR mixing modes and the z-IO/ρ-PR mixing modesexisting in Q0D wurtzite QDs. And each IO-PR mixing modes also have symmetrical and antisymmetrical forms. Via a standard procedure of field quantization, the Fröhlich Hamiltonians of electron-(IO-PR) mixing phonons interaction are obtained. And the orthogonal relations of polarization eigenvectors for these IO-PR mixing modes are also deduced. Numerical calculations of dispersive relation and electron-phonon coupling properties on a wurtzite GaN cylindrical QD are carried out. The behaviors that the IO-PR mixing phonon modes in wurtzite QDs reduce to the IO modes and PR modes in wurtzite QW and QWR systems are analyzed deeply from both of the viewpoints of physics and mathematics. The result shows that the present theories of polar mixing phonon modes in wurtzite cylindrical QDs are consistent with the phonon modes theories in wurtzite QWs and QWR systems. The coupling properties of electron-(IO-PR) mixing modes interactions are studied and analyzed in detail. An abnormal increase of electron-phonon coupling strength are observed as the azimuthal quantum numbers and order of phonon modes increase, which is ascribed to the modulation effect of different dielectric functions of wurtzite crystals in radius- and axial-directions. The analytical electron-phonon interaction Hamiltonians obtained here are useful for further investigating phonon influence on optoelectronics properties of wurtzite Q0D QD structures.  相似文献
