Asymptotic and Partial Asymptotic Hankel Operators on $$H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$$ H 2 ( D n ) )

In this paper, we generalize the concept of asymptotic Hankel operators on H²(D) to the Hardy space H²(Dⁿ) (over polydisk) in terms of asymptotic Hankel and partial asymptotic Hankel operators and investigate some properties in case of its weak and strong convergence. Meanwhile, we introduce i^th-partial Hankel operators on H²(Dⁿ) and obtain a characterization of its compactness for n > 1. Our main results include the containment of Toeplitz algebra in the collection of all strong partial asymptotic Hankel operators on H²(Dⁿ). It is also shown that a Toeplitz operator with symbol φ is asymptotic Hankel if and only if φ is holomorphic function in L^∞(Tⁿ).     

Type (II) regions between curves of the Fucik spectrum

The Fucik spectrum for a semilinear problem with asymptotic linearities has been shown to consist, at least locally, of curves emanating from a sequence of points in the plane. Regions between curves emanating from different points (referred to as type (I) regions in this paper) have a different nature than those between curves emanating from the same point (referred to as type (II) regions). Problems for which asymptotic limits fall in regions of type (I) have been solved by several authors, but not those for which the limits fall in a type (II) region. In the present paper we solve problems in which the asymptotic limits fall in type (II) regions. Received March 5, 1996

Ocean-Atmosphere Interaction in the Lifecycle of ENSO： The Coupled Wave Oscillator

To explain the oscillatory nature of E1 Nino/Southern Oscillation （ENSO）, many ENSO theories emphasize the free oceanic equatorial waves propagating/reflecting within the Pacific Ocean, or the discharge/recharge of Pacific-basin-averaged ocean heat content. ENSO signals in the Indian and Atlantic oceans are often considered as remote response to the Pacific SST anomaly through atmospheric teleconnections. This study investigates the ENSO life cycle near the equator using long-term observational datasets. Space-time spectral analysis is used to identify and isolate the dominant interannual oceanic and atmospheric wave modes associated with ENSO. Nino3 SST anomaly is utilized as the ENSO index, and lag-correlation/regression are used to construct the composite ENSO life cycle. The propagation, structure and feedback mechanisms of the dominant wave modes are studied in detail. The results show that the dominant oceanic equatorial wave modes associated with ENSO are not free waves, but are two ocean-atmosphere coupled waves including a coupled Kelvin wave and waves are not confined only to the Pacific a coupled equatorial Rossby （ER） wave. These Ocean, but are of planetary scale with zonal wavenumbers 1-2, and propagate all the way around the equator in more than three years, leading to the longer than 3-year period of ENSO. When passing the continents, they become uncoupled atmospheric waves. The coupled Kelvin wave has larger variance than the coupled ER wave, making the total signals dominated by eastward propagation. Surface zonal wind stress （x） acts to slow down the waves. The two coupled waves interact with each other through boundary reflection and superposition, and they also interact with an off-equatorial Rossby wave in north Pacific along 15N through boundary reflection and wind stress forcing. The precipitation anomalies of the two coupled waves meet in the eastern Pacific shortly after the SST maximum of ENSO and excite a dry atmospheric Kelvin wave which quickly circles the whole equator and leads to a zonally symmetric signal of troposphere temperature. ENSO signals in the Indian and Atlantic oceans are associated with the two coupled waves as well as the fast atmospheric Kelvin wave. The discharge/recharge of Pacific-basin-averaged ocean heat content is also contributed by the two coupled waves. The above results suggest the presence of an alternative coupled wave oscillator mechanism for the oscillatory nature of ENSO.

n-Dimensional submanifolds with an (n−1)-dimensional asymptotic distribution and with 1-asymptotic lines in a space form Rm(k)

In this paper we prove a theorem about the reduction of the codimension of n-dimensional submanifolds of a space form R^m(k), with an (n-1)-dimensional asymptotic distribution and with 1-asymptotic lines (i.e. asymptotic curves for which the (1+1)-dimensional osculating spaces are subspaces of the tangent spaces). We also give a result for (n–1)-asymptotic lines in connection with Enneper's formula. Finally we construct an example.Dedicated to Prof.dr.J.Bilo on his 65th birthday     

ON INTERACTION OF SHOCK AND SOUND WAVE （I）

This paper studies the interaction of shock and gradient wave (sound wave) of solutions to the system of inviscid isentropic gas dynamics as a model for the corresponding problems for nonlinear hyperbolic systems. The problem can be reduced to a boundary value problem in a wedged dormain, By using the method of constructing asymptotic solutions and Newton‘siteration process it is proved that if a weak shock hits a gradient wave, then the grandient wave will split into two gradient waves, while the shock continuses propagating. In this paper the author reduces the problem to a standard form and constructs asymptotic solution of the problem. The existence of the genuine solution will he given in the following paper.

APPROXIMATE POWER OF HETEROSCEDASTICITY TEST IN NONLINEAR MODELS WITH ARIMA（0,1,0） ERRORS

This paper presents an approach for estimating power of the score test, based on an asymptotic approximation to the power of the score test under contiguous alternatives. The method is applied to the problem of power calculations for the score test of heteroscedasticity in European rabbit data （Ratkowsky, 1983）. Simulation studies are presented which indicate that the asymptotic approximation to the finite-sample situation is good over a wide range of parameter configurations.

Asymptotic behavior of the loss probability for an M/G/1/N queue with vacations

In this paper, asymptotic properties of the loss probability are considered for an M/G/1/N queue with server vacations and exhaustive service discipline, denoted by an M/G/1/N-(V, E)-queue. Exact asymptotic rates of the loss probability are obtained for the cases in which the traffic intensity is smaller than, equal to and greater than one, respectively. When the vacation time is zero, the model considered degenerates to the standard M/G/1/N queue. For this standard queueing model, our analysis provides new or extended asymptotic results for the loss probability. In terms of the duality relationship between the M/G/1/N and GI/M/1/N queues, we also provide asymptotic properties for the standard GI/M/1/N model.
