A residual‐type a posteriori error estimator is proposed and analyzed for a modified weak Galerkin finite element method solving second‐order elliptic problems. This estimator is proven to be both reliable and efficient because it provides computable upper and lower bounds on the actual error in a discrete H1‐norm. Numerical experiments are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the this error estimator. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 33: 381–398, 2017  相似文献

In this article, we construct an a posteriori error estimator for expanded mixed hybrid finite‐element methods for second‐order elliptic problems. An a posteriori error analysis yields reliable and efficient estimate based on residuals. Several numerical examples are presented to show the effectivity of our error indicators. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 23: 330–349, 2007  相似文献

A posteriori error estimation employing both a residual based estimator and a recovery based estimator is discussed. Interest is focused upon the application to Reissner‐Mindlin type thick plates modeled using first‐order shear deformation theory, and our investigation is limited to uniform meshes of bilinear quadrilateral elements. Numerical results for selected test problems are presented for the resulting error estimators and discussed. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper, we derive an a posteriori error estimator of gradient recovery type for a model optimal control problem. We show that the a posteriori error estimator is equivalent to the discretization error in a norm of energy type on general meshes. Furthermore, when the solution of the control problem is smooth and the meshes are uniform, it is shown to be asymptotically exact.  相似文献

We derive two optimal a posteriori error estimators for an implicit fully discrete approximation to the solutions of linear integro‐differential equations of the parabolic type. A continuous, piecewise linear finite element space is used for the space discretization and the time discretization is based on an implicit backward Euler method. The a posteriori error indicator corresponding to space discretization is derived using the anisotropic interpolation estimates in conjunction with a Zienkiewicz‐Zhu error estimator to approach the error gradient. The error due to time discretization is derived using continuous, piecewise linear polynomial in time. We use the linear approximation of the Volterra integral term to estimate the quadrature error in the second estimator. Numerical experiments are performed on the isotropic mesh to validate the derived results.© 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 32: 1309–1330, 2016  相似文献

In this article, we conduct an a posteriori error analysis of the two‐dimensional time‐dependent Stokes problem with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions, which can be extended to mixed boundary conditions. We present a full time–space discretization using the discontinuous Galerkin method with polynomials of any degree in time and the ? 2 ? ?1 Taylor–Hood finite elements in space, and propose an a posteriori residual‐type error estimator. The upper bounds involve residuals, which are global in space and local in time, and an L 2‐error term evaluated on the left‐end point of time step. From the error estimate, we compute local error indicators to develop an adaptive space/time mesh refinement strategy. Numerical experiments verify our theoretical results and the proposed adaptive strategy.  相似文献

We consider a posteriori error estimation for a multipoint flux mixed finite element method for two‐dimensional elliptic interface problems. Within the class of modified quasi‐monotonically distributed coefficients, we derive a residual‐type a posteriori error estimator of the weighted sum of the scalar and flux errors which is robust with respect to the jumps of the coefficients. Moreover, we develop robust implicit and explicit recovery‐type estimators through gradient recovery in an H(curl)‐conforming finite element space. In particular, we apply a modified L2 projection in the implicit recovery procedure so as to reduce the computational cost of the recovered gradient. Numerical experiments confirm the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the a posteriori error estimator of SDG method for variable coefficients time-harmonic Maxwell's equations. We propose two a posteriori error estimators, one is the recovery-type estimator, and the other is the residual-type estimator. We first propose the curl-recovery method for the staggered discontinuous Galerkin method (SDGM), and based on the super-convergence result of the postprocessed solution, an asymptotically exact error estimator is constructed. The residual-type a posteriori error estimator is also proposed, and it's reliability and effectiveness are proved for variable coefficients time-harmonic Maxwell's equations. The efficiency and robustness of the proposed estimators is demonstrated by the numerical experiments.  相似文献

We consider an augmented mixed finite element method applied to the linear elasticity problem and derive a posteriori error estimators that are simpler and easier to implement than the ones available in the literature. In the case of homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions, the new a posteriori error estimator is reliable and locally efficient, whereas for non-homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions, we derive an a posteriori error estimator that is reliable and satisfies a quasi-efficiency bound. Numerical experiments illustrate the performance of the corresponding adaptive algorithms and support the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this article, we construct and analyze a residual-based a posteriori error estimator for a quadratic finite volume method (FVM) for solving nonlinear elliptic partial differential equations with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. We shall prove that the a posteriori error estimator yields the global upper and local lower bounds for the norm error of the FVM. So that the a posteriori error estimator is equivalent to the true error in a certain sense. Numerical experiments are performed to illustrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper, we study adaptive finite element discretization schemes for an optimal control problem governed by elliptic PDE with an integral constraint for the state. We derive the equivalent a posteriori error estimator for the finite element approximation, which particularly suits adaptive multi-meshes to capture different singularities of the control and the state. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the efficiency of a posteriori error estimator and to confirm the theoretical results.  相似文献

We study a discontinuous Galerkin finite element method (DGFEM) for the Stokes equations with a weak stabilization of the viscous term. We prove that, as the stabilization parameter γ tends to infinity, the solution converges at speed γ?1 to the solution of some stable and well‐known nonconforming finite element methods (NCFEM) for the Stokes equations. In addition, we show that an a posteriori error estimator for the DGFEM‐solution based on the reconstruction of a locally conservative H(div, Ω)‐tensor tends at the same speed to a classical a posteriori error estimator for the NCFEM‐solution. These results can be used to affirm the robustness of the DGFEM‐method and also underline the close relationship between the two approaches. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper, we present a posteriori error estimator for the nonconforming finite element approximation, including using Crouzeix–Raviart element and extended Crouzeix–Raviart element, of the Stokes eigenvalue problem. With the technique of Helmholtz decomposition, we first give out a posteriori error estimator and prove it as the global upper bound and local lower bound of the approximation error. Then, by deleting a jump term in the indicator, another simpler but equivalent indicator is obtained. Some numerical experiments are provided to verify our analysis.  相似文献

The paper presents an a posteriori error estimator of residual type for the stationary Stokes problem in a possibly multiply-connected polygonal domain of the plane, using the dual mixed finite element method (FEM). We prove lower and upper error bounds with the explicit dependence of the viscosity parameter and without any regularity assumption on the solution.  相似文献
