Using a Riemannian metric on a differentiable manifold, a Cheeger-Gromoll type metric is introduced on the (1,1)-tensor bundle of the manifold. Then the Levi-Civita connection, Riemannian curvature tensor, Ricci tensor, scalar curvature and sectional curvature of this metric are calculated. Also, a para-Nordenian structure on the the (1,1)-tensor bundle with this metric is constructed and the geometric properties of this structure are studied.  相似文献

Let be a compact connected Riemannian manifold with a metric of positive Ricci curvature. Let be a principal bundle over with compact connected structure group . If the fundamental group of is finite, we show that admits a invariant metric with positive Ricci curvature so that is a Riemannian submersion. Received 14 January 1997  相似文献

We prove that in metric measure spaces where the entropy functional is \(K\) -convex along every Wasserstein geodesic any optimal transport between two absolutely continuous measures with finite second moments lives on a non-branching set of geodesics. As a corollary we obtain that in these spaces there exists only one optimal transport plan between any two absolutely continuous measures with finite second moments and this plan is given by a map. The results are applicable in metric measure spaces having Riemannian Ricci curvature bounded below, and in particular they hold also for Gromov-Hausdorff limits of Riemannian manifolds with Ricci curvature bounded from below by some constant.  相似文献

In this paper we study the concentration behavior of metric measure spaces. We prove the stability of the curvature-dimension condition with respect to the concentration topology due to Gromov. As an application, under the nonnegativity of Bakry–Émery Ricci curvature, we prove that the kth eigenvalue of the weighted Laplacian of a closed Riemannian manifold is dominated by a constant multiple of the first eigenvalue, where the constant depends only on k and is independent of the dimension of the manifold.  相似文献

One of the most well-known results in the theory of optimal transportation is the equivalence between the convexity of the entropy functional with respect to the Riemannian Wasserstein metric and the Ricci curvature lower bound of the underlying Riemannian manifold. There are also generalizations of this result to the Finsler manifolds and manifolds with a Ricci flow background. In this paper, we study displacement interpolations from the point of view of Hamiltonian systems and give a unifying approach to the above mentioned results.  相似文献

In this paper, we explore the relationship between one of the most elementary and important properties of graphs, the presence and relative frequency of triangles, and a combinatorial notion of Ricci curvature. We employ a definition of generalized Ricci curvature proposed by Ollivier in a general framework of Markov processes and metric spaces and applied in graph theory by Lin–Yau. In analogy with curvature notions in Riemannian geometry, we interpret this Ricci curvature as a control on the amount of overlap between neighborhoods of two neighboring vertices. It is therefore naturally related to the presence of triangles containing those vertices, or more precisely, the local clustering coefficient, that is, the relative proportion of connected neighbors among all the neighbors of a vertex. This suggests to derive lower Ricci curvature bounds on graphs in terms of such local clustering coefficients. We also study curvature-dimension inequalities on graphs, building upon previous work of several authors.  相似文献

It is well known there is no non-constant harmonic map from a closed Riemannian manifold of positive Ricci curvature to a complete Riemannian manifold with non-positive sectional curvature. By reducing the assumption on the Ricci curvature to one on the scalar curvature, such vanishing theorem cannot hold in general. This raises the question: “What information can we obtain from the existence of non-constant harmonic map?” This paper gives answer to this problem; the results obtained are optimal.  相似文献

The Ricci flow is an evolution equation in the space of Riemannian metrics.A solution for this equation is a curve on the manifold of Riemannian metrics. In this paper we introduce a metric on the manifold of Riemannian metrics such that the Ricci flow becomes a geodesic. We show that the Ricci solitons introduce a special slice on the manifold of Riemannian metrics.  相似文献

In this paper,a class of new geometric flows on a complete Riemannian manifold is defined. The new flow is related to the generalized(third order) Landau-Lifshitz equation. On the other hand it could be thought of as a special case of the Schr¨odinger-Airy flow when the target manifold is a K¨ahler manifold with constant holomorphic sectional curvature. We show the local existence of the new flow on a complete Riemannian manifold with some assumptions on Ricci tensor. Moreover,if the target manifolds are Einstein or some certain type of locally symmetric spaces, the global results are obtained.  相似文献

We show that assuming lower bounds on the Ricci curvature and the injectivity radius the absolute value of certain characteristic numbers of a Riemannian manifold, including all Pontryagin and Chern numbers, is bounded proportionally to the volume. The proof relies on Chern–Weil theory applied to a connection constructed from Euclidean connections on charts in which the metric tensor is harmonic and has bounded Hölder norm. We generalize this theorem to a Gromov–Hausdorff closed class of rough Riemannian manifolds defined in terms of Hölder regularity. Assuming an additional upper Ricci curvature bound, we show that also the Euler characteristic is bounded proportionally to the volume. Additionally, we remark on a volume comparison theorem for Betti numbers of manifolds with an additional upper bound on sectional curvature. It is a consequence of a result by Bowen.

Let the Ricci curvature of a compact Riemannian manifold be greater, at every point, than the Lie derivative of the metric with respect to some fixed smooth vector field. It is shown that the fundamental group then has only finitely many conjugacy classes. This applies, in particular, to all compact shrinking Ricci solitons.

Schur's theorem states that an isotropic Riemannian manifold of dimension greater than two has constant curvature. It is natural to guess that compact almost isotropic Riemannian manifolds of dimension greater than two are close to spaces of almost constant curvature. We take the curvature anisotropy as the discrepancy of the sectional curvatures at a point. The main result of this paper is that Riemannian manifolds in Cheeger's class ℜ(n,d,V,A) withL 1-small integral anisotropy haveL p-small change of the sectional curvature over the manifold. We also estimate the deviation of the metric tensor from that of constant curvature in theW p 2 -norm, and prove that compact almost isotropic spaces inherit the differential structure of a space form. These stability results are based on the generalization of Schur' theorem to metric spaces.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the Ricci flow of solvmanifolds whose Lie algebra has an abelian ideal of codimension one, by using the bracket flow. We prove that solutions to the Ricci flow are immortal, the ω-limit of bracket flow solutions is a single point, and that for any sequence of times there exists a subsequence in which the Ricci flow converges, in the pointed topology, to a manifold which is locally isometric to a flat manifold. We give a functional which is non-increasing along a normalized bracket flow that will allow us to prove that given a sequence of times, one can extract a subsequence converging to an algebraic soliton, and to determine which of these limits are flat. Finally, we use these results to prove that if a Lie group in this class admits a Riemannian metric of negative sectional curvature, then the curvature of any Ricci flow solution will become negative in finite time.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove that the Lp essential spectra of the Laplacian on functions are [0,+∞) on a non-compact complete Riemannian manifold with non-negative Ricci curvature at infinity. The similar method applies to gradient shrinking Ricci soliton, which is similar to non-compact manifold with non-negative Ricci curvature in many ways.  相似文献

We obtain a local smoothing result for Riemannian manifolds with bounded Ricci curvatures in dimension four. More precisely, given a Riemannian metric with bounded Ricci curvature and small L2-norm of curvature on a metric ball, we can find a smooth metric with bounded curvature which is C1,α-close to the original metric on a smaller ball but still of definite size.  相似文献

We study the Ricci curvature of a Riemannian metric as a differential operator acting on the space of metrics close (in a weighted functional spaces topology) to the standard metric of a rank-one noncompact symmetric space. We prove that any symmetric bilinear field close enough to the standard may be realized as the Ricci curvature of a unique close metric if its decay rate at infinity (its weight) belongs to some precisely known interval. We also study what happens if the decay rate is too small or too large.  相似文献

We introduce and study rough (approximate) lower curvature bounds for discrete spaces and for graphs. This notion agrees with the one introduced in [J. Lott, C. Villani, Ricci curvature for metric-measure spaces via optimal transport, Ann. of Math. 169 (2009), in press] and [K.T. Sturm, On the geometry of metric measure spaces. I, Acta Math. 196 (2006) 65-131], in the sense that the metric measure space which is approximated by a sequence of discrete spaces with rough curvature ?K will have curvature ?K in the sense of [J. Lott, C. Villani, Ricci curvature for metric-measure spaces via optimal transport, Ann. of Math. 169 (2009), in press; K.T. Sturm, On the geometry of metric measure spaces. I, Acta Math. 196 (2006) 65-131]. Moreover, in the converse direction, discretizations of metric measure spaces with curvature ?K will have rough curvature ?K. We apply our results to concrete examples of homogeneous planar graphs.  相似文献

In this paper, we study complete noncompact Riemannian manifolds with Ricci curvature bounded from below. When the Ricci curvature is nonnegative, we show that this kind of manifolds are diffeomorphic to a Euclidean space, by assuming an upper bound on the radial curvature and a volume growth condition of their geodesic balls. When the Ricci curvature only has a lower bound, we also prove that such a manifold is diffeomorphic to a Euclidean space if the radial curvature is bounded from below. Moreover, by assuming different conditions and applying different methods, we shall prove more results on Riemannian manifolds with large volume growth.  相似文献

We show that if a complete Riemannian manifold supports a vector field such that the Ricci tensor plus the Lie derivative of the metric with respect to the vector field has a positive lower bound, then the fundamental group is finite. In particular, it follows that complete shrinking Ricci solitons and complete smooth metric measure spaces with a positive lower bound on the Bakry-Emery tensor have finite fundamental group. The method of proof is to generalize arguments of García-Río and Fernández-López in the compact case.
