In this paper an exact analysis of homogenous rigidly fixed vibrations of viscothermoelastic hollow sphere is presented. The basic governing partial differential equations have been reduced to ordinary differential equations by using Helmholtz decomposition equations. The uncoupled equation is taken for first class vibrations and remains independent of temperature variations, while coupled system of equations are taken for second class vibrations. Matrix Fröbenious method of extended power series has been applied in the coupled system of differential equations to get displacements and temperature. Numerical results have been presented, giving lowest frequency, dissipation factor, displacements and temperature change.  相似文献

The problem of heat and mass transfer in an unsteady free-convection flow over a continuous moving vertical sheet in an ambient fluid is investigated for constant heat flux using the group theoretical method. The nonlinear coupled partial differential equation governing the flow and the boundary conditions are transformed to a system of ordinary differential equations with appropriate boundary conditions. The obtained ordinary differential equations are solved numerically using the shooting method. The effect of Prandlt number on the velocity and temperature of the boundary-layer is plotted in curves. A comparison with previous work is presented.  相似文献

The similarity transform for the steady three-dimensional problem of a condensation film on an inclined rotating disk gives a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations which are analytically solved by applying a newly developed method namely the homotopy analysis method (HAM). The analytic solutions of the system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations are constructed in the series form. The convergence of the obtained series solutions is carefully analyzed. The velocity and temperature profiles are shown and the influence of the Prandtl number on the heat transfer and the Nusselt number is discussed in detail. The validity of our results is verified by numerical results.  相似文献

The purpose of present research is to derive analytical expressions for the solution of steady MHD convective and slip flow due to a rotating disk. Viscous dissipation and Ohmic heating are taken into account. The nonlinear partial differential equations for MHD laminar flow of the homogeneous fluid are reduced to a system of five coupled ordinary differential equations by using similarity transformation. The derived solution is expressed in series of exponentially-decaying functions using homotopy analysis method (HAM). The convergence of the obtained series solutions is examined. Finally some figures are sketched to show the accuracy of the applied method and assessment of various slip parameter γ, magnetic field parameter M, Eckert Ec, Schmidt Sc and Soret Sr numbers on the profiles of the dimensionless velocity, temperature and concentration distributions. Validity of the obtained results are verified by the numerical results.  相似文献

A model of forced convection flow due to stretching surface is derived to represent the physical system with prescribed skin friction. To achieve the similar solutions, the partial differential equations are reduced into ordinary differential equations. The analytic solutions of the resulting problems have been obtained by a homotopy analysis method. The convergence of the developed series solution is seen. Finally, the results of velocity, temperature, the stretching velocity, and Nusselt number are analyzed. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2009  相似文献

In the present investigation we have analyzed the boundary layer flow of a Jeffrey fluid over an exponentially stretching surface. The effects of thermal radiation are carried out for two cases of heat transfer analysis known as (1) Prescribed exponential order surface temperature (PEST) and (2) Prescribed exponential order heat flux (PEHF). The highly nonlinear coupled partial differential equations of Jeffrey fluid flow along with the energy equation are simplified by using similarity transformation techniques based on boundary layer assumptions. The reduced similarity equations are then solved analytically by the homotopy analysis method (HAM). The convergence of the HAM series solution is obtained by plotting (h/2p)\hbar-curves for velocity and temperature. The effects of physical parameters on the velocity and temperature profiles are examined by plotting graphs.  相似文献

A mathematical analysis has been carried out to study magnetohydrodynamic boundary layer flow, heat and mass transfer characteristic on steady two-dimensional flow of a micropolar fluid over a stretching sheet embedded in a non-Darcian porous medium with uniform magnetic field. Momentum boundary layer equation takes into account of transverse magnetic field whereas energy equation takes into account of Ohmic dissipation due to transverse magnetic field, thermal radiation and non-uniform source effects. An analysis has been performed for heating process namely the prescribed wall heat flux (PHF case). The governing system of partial differential equations is first transformed into a system of non-linear ordinary differential equations using similarity transformation. The transformed equations are non-linear coupled differential equations which are then linearized by quasi-linearization method and solved very efficiently by finite-difference method. Favorable comparisons with previously published work on various special cases of the problem are obtained. The effects of various physical parameters on velocity, temperature, concentration distributions are presented graphically and in tabular form.  相似文献

In this paper, the dynamic response of an Euler-Bernoulli beam and string system traversed by a constant moving force is considered. The force is moving with a constant velocity on the top beam. The complex system is finite, simply supported, parallel one upon the other and continuously coupled by a linear Winkler elastic element. The classical solution of the response of a beam-string system subjected to a force moving with a constant velocity has a form of an infinite series. The main goal of this paper is to show that in the considered case the aperiodic part of the solution can be presented in a closed, analytical form instead of an infinite series. The presented method of finding the solution in a closed, analytical form is based on the observation that the solution of the system of partial differential equations in the form of an infinite series is also a solution of an appropriate system of ordinary differential equations. The dynamic influence lines of complex systems may be used for the analysis the complex models of moving load. (© 2016 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

The present investigation is concerned with the study of extensional wave motion in an infinite homogenous isotropic, thermoelastic plate by using asymptotic method. The governing equation for the extensional wave motions have been derived from the system of three-dimensional dynamical equations of linear coupled theory of thermoelasticity. All coefficients of the differential operator are expressed as explicit functions of the material parameters. The velocity dispersion equation for the extensional wave motion is deduced from the three-dimensional analog of Rayleigh–Lamb frequency equation for thermoelastic plate waves. The approximations for long and short waves and expression for group velocity are also derived. The thermoelastic Rayleigh–Lamb frequency equations for the considered plate are expanded in power series in order to obtain polynomial frequency and velocity dispersion relations whose equivalence is established to that of asymptotic method. The dispersion curves for phase velocity and attenuation coefficient are shown graphically for extensional wave motion of the plates.  相似文献

A system of partial differential equations describing the thermal behavior of aluminium cell coupled with magnetohydrodynamic effects is numerically solved. The thermal model is considered as a two-phases Stefan problem which consists of a non-linear convection–diffusion heat equation with Joule effect as a source. The magnetohydrodynamic fields are governed by Navier–Stokes and by static Maxwell equations. A pseudo-evolutionary scheme (Chernoff) is used to obtain the stationary solution giving the temperature and the frozen layer profile for the simulation of the ledges in the cell. A numerical approximation using a finite element method is formulated to obtain the fluid velocity, electrical potential, magnetic induction and temperature. An iterative algorithm and 3-D numerical results are presented.  相似文献

The Couette flow between two parallel porous flat plates for temperature dependent viscosity, with fluid injection at the stationary plate and its corresponding removal through the moving plate has been studied. An empirical relation between viscosity and temperature, based on the experimental results of Prandtl, is taken. The coupled differential equations of the velocity and temperature fields have been solved with the help of a power series in the injection parameter λ. Expressions for shearing stress, velocity and temperature fields and for Nusselt number are obtained for small values of λ.  相似文献

A study of the hydromagnetic flow due to a stretching sheet and heat transfer in an incompressible micropolar liquid is made. Temperature-dependent thermal conductivity and a non-uniform heat source/sink render the problem analytically intractable and hence a numerical study is made using the shooting method based on Runge-Kutta and Newton-Raphson methods. The two problems of horizontal and vertical stretching are considered to implement the numerical method. The former problem involves one-way coupling between linear momentum and heat transport equations and the latter involves two-way coupling. Further, both the problems involve two-way coupling between the non-linear equations of conservation of linear and angular momentums. A similarity transformation arrived at for the problem using the Lie group method facilitates the reduction of coupled, non-linear partial differential equations into coupled, non-linear ordinary differential equations. The algorithm for solving the resulting coupled, two-point, non-linear boundary value problem is presented in great detail in the paper. Extensive computation on velocity and temperature profiles is presented for a wide range of values of the parameters, for prescribed surface temperature (PST) and prescribed heat flux (PHF) boundary conditions.  相似文献

A study of MHD mixed convection flow through porous space in the presence of a temperature dependent heat source in a vertical channel with radiation has been analyzed. The Rosseland approximation is considered in the modeling of the conduction radiation heat transfer and temperatures of the walls are assumed constants. The governing equations are expressed in non-dimensional form and the series solutions of coupled system of equations are constructed for velocity and temperature using homotopy analysis method (HAM). The effects of various involved parameters on the velocity and temperature field are shown and discussed. The coefficient of skin friction, and the rate of heat transfer coefficient are obtained and illustrated graphically.  相似文献

This paper analyzes the flow and heat and mass transfer characteristics of the free convection on a vertical plate with variable wall temperature and concentration in a doubly stratified micropolar fluid. A uniform magnetic field is applied normal to the plate. The governing non-linear partial differential equations are transformed into a system of coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations using similarity transformations and then solved numerically using the Keller-box method. The numerical results are compared and found to be in good agreement with previously published results as special cases of the present investigation. The non-dimensional velocity, microrotation, temperature and concentration are presented graphically for various values of magnetic parameter, coupling number, thermal and solutal stratification parameters. In addition, the Nusselt number, the Sherwood number, the skin-friction coefficient, and the wall couple stress are shown in a tabular form.  相似文献

This paper aims to present complete analytic solution to heat transfer of a micropolar fluid through a porous medium with radiation. Homotopy analysis method (HAM) has been used to get accurate and complete analytic solution. The analytic solutions of the system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations are constructed in the series form. The convergence of the obtained series solutions is carefully analyzed. The velocity and temperature profiles are shown and the influence of coupling constant, permeability parameter and the radiation parameter on the heat transfer is discussed in detail. The validity of our solutions is verified by the numerical results (fourth-order Runge–Kutta method and shooting method).  相似文献

The group theoretic method is applied for solving problem of combined magneto-hydrodynamic heat and mass transfer of non-Darcy natural convection about an impermeable horizontal cylinder in a non-Newtonian power law fluid embedded in porous medium under coupled thermal and mass diffusion, inertia resistance, magnetic field, thermal radiation effects. The application of one-parameter groups reduces the number of independent variables by one and consequently, the system of governing partial differential equations with the boundary conditions reduces to a system of ordinary differential equations with appropriate boundary conditions. The ordinary differential equations are solved numerically for the velocity using shooting method. The effects of magnetic parameter M, Ergun number Er, power law (viscosity) index n, buoyancy ratio N, radiation parameter Rd, Prandtl number Pr and Lewis number Le on the velocity, temperature fields within the boundary layer, heat and mass transfer are presented graphically and discussed.  相似文献

The equations are solved by scheme of one step methods. Numerical results for the velocity in three dimensions are obtained and reported graphically for various temperatures to show interesting aspects of the solution.  相似文献

Existence for a thermoviscoelastic beam model of brakes   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The existence of a weak solution to a model for the dynamic thermomechanical behavior of a viscoelastic beam, which is in frictional contact with a rigid rotating wheel, is established. The model describes a simple braking system in which a rotating wheel comes to a stop as a result of the frictional traction generated by the beam. The classical model consists of a system of coupled equations for the beam temperature and displacement, the wear of the beam's contacting end, the wheel temperature and its angular velocity. The weak formulation is an abstract differential inclusion involving set-valued pseudomonotone operators, The existence is proved by using recent results for such operators. Uniqueness is shown to hold when the wheel's angular velocity and temperature are known.  相似文献

A new analytic technique is applied to solve the unsteady viscous flow due to an infinite rotating disk, governed by a set of two fully coupled nonlinear partial differential equations deduced directly from the exact Navier-Stokes equations. The system of coupled nonlinear partial differential equations is replaced by a sequence of uncoupled systems of linear ordinary differential equations. Different from all other previous analytic results, our series solution is accurate and valid for all time in the whole spatial region. Accurate expressions for skin friction coefficients are given, which are valid for all time. Such kind of series solutions have not been reported, to the best of our knowledge.   相似文献
