We discuss accelerated version of the alternating projection method which can be applied to solve the linear matrix inequality (LMI) problem. The alternating projection method is a well-known algorithm for the convex feasibility problem, and has many generalizations and extensions. Bauschke and Kruk proposed a reflection projection algorithm for computing a point in the intersection of an obtuse cone and a closed convex set. We carry on this research in two directions. First, we present an accelerated version of the reflection projection algorithm, and prove its weak convergence in a Hilbert space; second, we prove the finite termination of an algorithm which is based on the proposed algorithm and provide an explicit upper bound for the required number of iterations under certain assumptions. Numerical experiments for the LMI problem are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness and merits of the proposed algorithms.  相似文献

The classical problem of finding a point in the intersection of countably many closed and convex sets in a Hilbert space is considered. Extrapolated iterations of convex combinations of approximate projections onto subfamilies of sets are investigated to solve this problem. General hypotheses are made on the regularity of the sets and various strategies are considered to control the order in which the sets are selected. Weak and strong convergence results are established within thisbroad framework, which provides a unified view of projection methods for solving hilbertian convex feasibility problems. Problems in signal detection and image recovery can sometimes be formulated as a convex feasibility problem (CFP) of finding a vector in the intersection of a finite family of closed convex sets. Algorithms for this purpose typically employ orthogonal or generalized projections onto the individual convex sets. The simultaneous multiprojection algorithm of Censor and Elfving for solving the CFP, in which different generalized projections may be used at the same time, has been shown to converge for the case of nonempty intersection; still open is the question of its convergence when the intersection of the closed convex sets is empty.Motivated by the geometric alternating minimization approach of Csiszár and Tusnády and the product space formulation of Pierra, we derive a new simultaneous multiprojection algorithm that employs generalized projections of Bregman to solve the convex feasibility problem or, in the inconsistent case, to minimize a proximity function that measures the average distance from a point to all convex sets. We assume that the Bregman distances involved are jointly convex, so that the proximity function itself is convex. When the intersection of the convex sets is empty, but the closure of the proximity function has a unique global minimizer, the sequence of iterates converges to this unique minimizer. Special cases of this algorithm include the Expectation Maximization Maximum Likelihood (EMML) method in emission tomography and a new convergence result for an algorithm that solves the split feasibility problem.  相似文献

The multiple-sets split feasibility problem (MSFP) is to find a point belongs to the intersection of a family of closed convex sets in one space, such that its image under a linear transformation belongs to the intersection of another family of closed convex sets in the image space. Many iterative methods can be employed to solve the MSFP. Jinling Zhao et al. proposed a modification for the CQ algorithm and a relaxation scheme for this modification to solve the MSFP. The strong convergence of these algorithms are guaranteed in finite-dimensional Hilbert spaces. Recently López et al. proposed a relaxed CQ algorithm for solving split feasibility problem, this algorithm can be implemented easily since it computes projections onto half-spaces and has no need to know a priori the norm of the bounded linear operator. However, this algorithm has only weak convergence in the setting of infinite-dimensional Hilbert spaces. In this paper, we introduce a new relaxed self-adaptive CQ algorithm for solving the MSFP where closed convex sets are level sets of some convex functions such that the strong convergence is guaranteed in the framework of infinite-dimensional Hilbert spaces. Our result extends and improves the corresponding results.  相似文献

The convex feasibility problem under consideration is to find a common point of a countable family of closed affine subspaces and convex sets in a Hilbert space. To solve such problems, we propose a general parallel block-iterative algorithmic framework in which the affine subspaces are exploited to introduce extrapolated over-relaxations. This framework encompasses a wide range of projection, subgradient projection, proximal, and fixed point methods encountered in various branches of applied mathematics. The asymptotic behavior of the method is investigated and numerical experiments are provided to illustrate the benefits of the extrapolations.  相似文献

Consider a nonempty convex set in m which is defined by a finite number of smooth convex inequalities and which admits a self-concordant logarithmic barrier. We study the analytic center based column generation algorithm for the problem of finding a feasible point in this set. At each iteration the algorithm computes an approximate analytic center of the set defined by the inequalities generated in the previous iterations. If this approximate analytic center is a solution, then the algorithm terminates; otherwise either an existing inequality is shifted or a new inequality is added into the system. As the number of iterations increases, the set defined by the generated inequalities shrinks and the algorithm eventually finds a solution of the problem. The algorithm can be thought of as an extension of the classical cutting plane method. The difference is that we use analytic centers and convex cuts instead of arbitrary infeasible points and linear cuts. In contrast to the cutting plane method, the algorithm has a polynomial worst case complexity of O(Nlog 1/) on the total number of cuts to be used, where N is the number of convex inequalities in the original problem and is the maximum common slack of the original inequality system.  相似文献

This paper develops a new variant of the classical alternating projection method for solving convex feasibility problems where the constraints are given by the intersection of two convex cones in a Hilbert space. An extension to the feasibility problem for the intersection of two convex sets is presented as well. It is shown that one can solve such problems in a finite number of steps and an explicit upper bound for the required number of steps is obtained. As an application, we propose a new finite steps algorithm for linear programming with linear matrix inequality constraints. This solution is computed by solving a sequence of a matrix eigenvalue decompositions. Moreover, the proposed procedure takes advantage of the structure of the problem. In particular, it is well adapted for problems with several small size constraints.  相似文献

The method of projections onto convex sets to find a point in the intersection of a finite number of closed convex sets in a Euclidean space, may lead to slow convergence of the constructed sequence when that sequence enters some narrow “corridor” between two or more convex sets. A way to leave such corridor consists in taking a big step at different moments during the iteration, because in that way the monotoneous behaviour that is responsible for the slow convergence may be interrupted. In this paper we present a technique that may introduce interruption of the monotony for a sequential algorithm, but that at the same time guarantees convergence of the constructed sequence to a point in the intersection of the sets. We compare experimentally the behaviour concerning the speed of convergence of the new algorithm with that of an existing monotoneous algorithm.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a type of the celebrated convex feasibility problem, named as split quasi-convex feasibility problem (SQFP). The SQFP is to find a point in a sublevel set of a quasi-convex function in one space and its image under a bounded linear operator is contained in a sublevel set of another quasi-convex function in the image space. We propose a new adaptive subgradient algorithm for solving SQFP problem. We also discuss the convergence analyses for two cases: the first case where the functions are upper semicontinuous in the setting of finite dimensional, and the second case where the functions are weakly continuous in the infinite-dimensional settings. Finally some numerical examples in order to support the convergence results are given.  相似文献

The cyclic projections algorithm is an important method for determining a point in the intersection of a finite number of closed convex sets in a Hilbert space. That is, for determining a solution to the “convex feasibility” problem. This is the third paper in a series on a study of the rate of convergence for the cyclic projections algorithm. In the first of these papers, we showed that the rate could be described in terms of the “angles” between the convex sets involved. In the second, we showed that these angles often had a more tractable formulation in terms of the “norm” of the product of the (nonlinear) metric projections onto related convex sets.In this paper, we show that the rate of convergence of the cyclic projections algorithm is also intimately related to the “linear regularity property” of Bauschke and Borwein, the “normal property” of Jameson (as well as Bakan, Deutsch, and Li’s generalization of Jameson’s normal property), the “strong conical hull intersection property” of Deutsch, Li, and Ward, and the rate of convergence of iterated parallel projections. Such properties have already been shown to be important in various other contexts as well.  相似文献

We present a modification of Dykstra's algorithm which allows us to avoid projections onto general convex sets. Instead, we calculate projections onto either a half-space or onto the intersection of two half-spaces. Convergence of the algorithm is established and special choices of the half-spaces are proposed.The option to project onto half-spaces instead of general convex sets makes the algorithm more practical. The fact that the half-spaces are quite general enables us to apply the algorithm in a variety of cases and to generalize a number of known projection algorithms.The problem of projecting a point onto the intersection of closed convex sets receives considerable attention in many areas of mathematics and physics as well as in other fields of science and engineering such as image reconstruction from projections.In this work we propose a new class of algorithms which allow projection onto certain super half-spaces, i.e., half-spaces which contain the convex sets. Each one of the algorithms that we present gives the user freedom to choose the specific super half-space from a family of such half-spaces. Since projecting a point onto a half-space is an easy task to perform, the new algorithms may be more useful in practical situations in which the construction of the super half-spaces themselves is not too difficult.  相似文献

Recently Deutsch, Li and Swetits [2] have studied, in Hilbert space, a dual problem (Qm ) to the primal problem (P) of minimization of a special class of convex functions f over the intersection of m closed convex sets, where m is finite. In the first part of this paper we obtain, in a locally convex space, some results on problem (Qm ) and on its relations with the usual Lagrangian dual problem (Q) to (P) (studied in [9]), in the case when (P) has a solution. In the second part we give some applications to duality for the distance to the intersection of m closed convex sets in a normed linear space, in the case when a nearest point exists. Most of our results seem to be new even in the particular cases studied in [9] (the case m = 1), [l] (duality formulas for the distance to the intersection of m closed half-spaces in a normed linear space) and [2].  相似文献

Some optimization problems can be reduced to finding a solution of a system of linear inequalities which belongs to a closed convex subset. In some optimization methods such a solution (or at least a better approximation of such a solution than the current one) should be found in each iteration. In the article, we present various projection methods to solve this problem. Furthermore, we show the relationship between these methods. In this article we devise two iteration schemes for approximating common fixed points of a finite family of nonexpansive mappings and establish the corresponding strong convergence theorem for the sequence generated by any one of our algorithms. Then we apply our results to approximate a solution of the so-called constrained multiple-set convex feasibility fixed point problem for firmly nonexpansive mappings which covers the multiple-set convex feasibility problem in the literature. In particular, our algorithms can be used to approximate the zero point problem of maximal monotone operators, and the equilibrium problem. Furthermore, the unique minimum norm solution can be obtained through our algorithms for each mentioned problem.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the application of a class of direct search methods to bilevel programming with convex lower level problems with strongly stable optimal solutions. In those methods, directions of descent in each iterations are selected within a finite set of directions. To guarantee the existence of such a finite set, we investigate the relation between the aperture of a descent cone at a non stationary point and the vector density of a finite set of directions. It is shown that the direct search method converges to a Clarke stationary point of the bilevel programming problem.  相似文献

We treat a concave programming problem with a compact convex feasible set. Assuming the differentiability of the convex functions which define the feasible set, we propose two solution methods. Those methods utilize the convexity of the feasible set and the property of the normal cone to the feasible set at each point over the boundary. Based on the proposed two methods, we propose a solution algorithm. This algorithm takes advantages over classical methods: (1) the obtained approximate solution is always feasible, (2) the error of such approximate value can be evaluated properly for the optimal value of such problem, (3) the algorithm does not have any redundant iterations.  相似文献

In this paper we consider convex feasibility problems where the feasible set is given as the intersection of a collection of closed convex sets. We assume that each set is specified algebraically as a convex inequality, where the associated convex function is general (possibly non-differentiable). For finding a point satisfying all the convex inequalities we design and analyze random projection algorithms using special subgradient iterations and extrapolated stepsizes. Moreover, the iterate updates are performed based on parallel random observations of several constraint components. For these minibatch stochastic subgradient-based projection methods we prove sublinear convergence results and, under some linear regularity condition for the functional constraints, we prove linear convergence rates. We also derive sufficient conditions under which these rates depend explicitly on the minibatch size. To the best of our knowledge, this work is the first deriving conditions that show theoretically when minibatch stochastic subgradient-based projection updates have a better complexity than their single-sample variants when parallel computing is used to implement the minibatch. Numerical results also show a better performance of our minibatch scheme over its non-minibatch counterpart.

In this article, we propose two successive search methods for solving a canonical DC programming problem constrained by the difference set between two compact convex sets in the case where the dimension number is greater than or equal to three. In order to find feasible solutions, the algorithms generate the directions based on a branch and bound procedure, successively. By exploring the provisional solutions throughout the intersection of the boundaries of two compact convex sets, both algorithms calculate an approximate solution.  相似文献

The split feasibility problem deals with finding a point in a closed convex subset of the domain space of a linear operator such that the image of the point under the linear operator is in a prescribed closed convex subset of the image space. The split feasibility problem and its variants and generalizations have been widely investigated as a means for resolving practical inverse problems in various disciplines. Many iterative algorithms have been proposed for solving the problem. This article discusses a split feasibility problem which does not have a solution, referred to as an inconsistent split feasibility problem. When the closed convex set of the domain space is the absolute set and the closed convex set of the image space is the subsidiary set, it would be reasonable to formulate a compromise solution of the inconsistent split feasibility problem by using a point in the absolute set such that its image of the linear operator is closest to the subsidiary set in terms of the norm. We show that the problem of finding the compromise solution can be expressed as a convex minimization problem over the fixed point set of a nonexpansive mapping and propose an iterative algorithm, with three-term conjugate gradient directions, for solving the minimization problem.  相似文献

It is of both theoretical and practical interest to find the projection of a point to the intersection of a finite number of closed convex sets by a sequence of projections to the individual sets successively. In this paper we study such a method and analyze its convergence properties. A main feature of the method is its capability to decompose the projection problem into several small ones.
