A vertex of a graph is said to dominate itself and all of its neighbors.A double dominating set of a graph G is a set D of vertices of G,such that every vertex of G is dominated by at least two vertices of D.The double domination number of a graph G is the minimum cardinality of a double dominating set of G.For a graph G =(V,E),a subset D V(G) is a 2-dominating set if every vertex of V(G) \ D has at least two neighbors in D,while it is a 2-outer-independent dominating set of G if additionally the set V(G)\D is independent. The 2-outer-independent domination number of G is the minimum cardinality of a 2-outer-independent dominating set of G.This paper characterizes all trees with the double domination number equal to the 2-outer-independent domination number plus one.  相似文献

Let G=(V,E) be a graph.A set S■V is a restrained dominating set if every vertex in V-S is adjacent to a vertex in S and to a vertex in V-S.The restrained domination number of G,denoted γr(G),is the smallest cardinality of a restrained dominating set of G.In this paper,we show that if G is a graph of order n≥4,then γr(G)γr(G)≤2n.We also characterize the graphs achieving the upper bound.  相似文献

A set D of vertices of a graph G = (V, E) is called a dominating set if every vertex of V not in D is adjacent to a vertex of D. In 1996, Reed proved that every graph of order n with minimum degree at least 3 has a dominating set of cardinality at most 3n/8. In this paper we generalize Reed's result. We show that every graph G of order n with minimum degree at least 2 has a dominating set of cardinality at most (3n +IV21)/8, where V2 denotes the set of vertices of degree 2 in G. As an application of the above result, we show that for k ≥ 1, the k-restricted domination number rk (G, γ) ≤ (3n+5k)/8 for all graphs of order n with minimum degree at least 3.  相似文献

A set D of vertices in a graph G = (V, E) is a locating-dominating set (LDS) if for every two vertices u, v of V / D the sets N(u) ∩D and N(v) ∩ D are non-empty and different. The locating-domination number γL(G) is the minimum cardinality of an LDS of G, and the upper-locating domination number FL(G) is the maximum cardinality of a minimal LDS of G. In the present paper, methods for determining the exact values of the upper locating-domination numbers of cycles are provided.  相似文献

For a graph G =(V,E),a subset VS is a dominating set if every vertex in V is either in S or is adjacent to a vertex in S.The domination number γ(G) of G is the minimum order of a dominating set in G.A graph G is said to be domination vertex critical,if γ(G-v) γ(G) for any vertex v in G.A graph G is domination edge critical,if γ(G ∪ e) γ(G) for any edge e ∈/E(G).We call a graph G k-γ-vertex-critical(resp.k-γ-edge-critical) if it is domination vertex critical(resp.domination edge critical) and γ(G) = k.Ananchuen and Plummer posed the conjecture:Let G be a k-connected graph with the minimum degree at least k+1,where k 2 and k≡|V|(mod 2).If G is 3-γ-edge-critical and claw-free,then G is k-factor-critical.In this paper we present a proof to this conjecture, and we also discuss the properties such as connectivity and bicriticality in 3-γ-vertex-critical claw-free graph.  相似文献

A 2-dominating set of a graph G is a set D of vertices of G such that every vertex of V(G)\D has at least two neighbors in D.A total outer-independent dominating set of a graph G is a set D of vertices of G such that every vertex of G has a neighbor in D,and the set V(G)\D is independent. The 2-domination(total outer-independent domination, respectively)number of a graph G is the minimum cardinality of a 2-dominating(total outer-independent dominating, respectively)set of G.We investigate the ratio between2-domination and total outer-independent domination numbers of trees.  相似文献

A set W of the vertices of a connected graph G is called a resolving set for G if for every two distinct vertices u, v ∈ V (G) there is a vertex w ∈ W such that d(u, w) ≠ d(v, w). A resolving set of minimum cardinality is called a metric basis for G and the number of vertices in a metric basis is called the metric dimension of G, denoted by dim(G). For a vertex u of G and a subset S of V (G), the distance between u and S is the number min s∈S d(u, s). A k-partition Π = {S 1 , S 2 , . . . , S k } of V (G) is called a resolving partition if for every two distinct vertices u, v ∈ V (G) there is a set S i in Π such that d(u, Si )≠ d(v, Si ). The minimum k for which there is a resolving k-partition of V (G) is called the partition dimension of G, denoted by pd(G). The circulant graph is a graph with vertex set Zn , an additive group of integers modulo n, and two vertices labeled i and j adjacent if and only if i-j (mod n) ∈ C , where CZn has the property that C =-C and 0 ■ C. The circulant graph is denoted by Xn, Δ where Δ = |C|. In this paper, we study the metric dimension of a family of circulant graphs Xn, 3 with connection set C = {1, n/2 , n-1} and prove that dim(Xn, 3 ) is independent of choice of n by showing that dim(Xn, 3 ) ={3 for all n ≡ 0 (mod 4), 4 for all n ≡ 2 (mod 4). We also study the partition dimension of a family of circulant graphs Xn,4 with connection set C = {±1, ±2} and prove that pd(Xn, 4 ) is independent of choice of n and show that pd(X5,4 ) = 5 and pd(Xn,4 ) ={3 for all odd n ≥ 9, 4 for all even n ≥ 6 and n = 7.  相似文献

The metric dimension dim(G)of a graph G is the minimum number of vertices such that every vertex of G is uniquely determined by its vector of distances to the chosen vertices. The zero forcing number Z(G)of a graph G is the minimum cardinality of a set S of black vertices(whereas vertices in V(G)\S are colored white)such that V(G)is turned black after finitely many applications of"the color-change rule":a white vertex is converted black if it is the only white neighbor of a black vertex. We show that dim(T)≤Z(T)for a tree T,and that dim(G)≤Z(G)+1 if G is a unicyclic graph;along the way,we characterize trees T attaining dim(T)=Z(T).For a general graph G,we introduce the"cycle rank conjecture".We conclude with a proof of dim(T)-2≤dim(T+e)≤dim(T)+1 for e∈E(T).  相似文献

The geodetic numbers of graphs and digraphs   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
For every two vertices u and v in a graph G,a u-v geodesic is a shortest path between u and v.Let I(u,v)denote the set of all vertices lying on a u-v geodesic. For a vertex subset S,let I(S) denote the union of all I(u,v)for u,v∈S.The geodetic number g(G)of a graph G is the minimum cardinality of a set S with I(S)=V(G).For a digraph D,there is analogous terminology for the geodetic number g(D).The geodetic spectrum of a graph G,denoted by S(G),is the set of geodetic numbers of all orientations of graph G.The lower geodetic number is g~-(G)=minS(G)and the upper geodetic number is g~ (G)=maxS(G).The main purpose of this paper is to study the relations among g(G),g~-(G)and g~ (G)for connected graphs G.In addition,a sufficient and necessary condition for the equality of g(G)and g(G×K_2)is presented, which improves a result of Chartrand,Harary and Zhang.  相似文献

Let G be a simple graph. An IE-total coloring f of G refers to a coloring of the vertices and edges of G so that no two adjacent vertices receive the same color. Let C(u) be the set of colors of vertex u and edges incident to u under f. For an IE-total coloring f of G using k colors, if C(u)=C(v) for any two different vertices u and v of V (G), then f is called a k-vertex-distinguishing IE-total-coloring of G, or a k-VDIET coloring of G for short. The minimum number of colors required for a VDIET coloring of G is denoted by χievt(G), and is called the VDIET chromatic number of G. We get the VDIET chromatic numbers of cycles and wheels, and propose related conjectures in this paper.  相似文献

Let f be a proper edge coloring of G using k colors. For each x∈V(G),the set of the colors appearing on the edges incident with x is denoted by S_f(x)or simply S(x)if no confusion arise. If S(u)■S(v)and S(v)■S(u)for any two adjacent vertices u and v,then f is called a Smarandachely adjacent vertex distinguishing proper edge coloring using k colors,or k-SA-edge coloring. The minimum number k for which G has a Smarandachely adjacent-vertex-distinguishing proper edge coloring using k colors is called the Smarandachely adjacent-vertex-distinguishing proper edge chromatic number,or SAedge chromatic number for short, and denoted byχ'_(sa)(G).In this paper,we have discussed the SA-edge chromatic number of K_4∨K_n.  相似文献

A clique-transversal set D of a graph G is a set of vertices of G such that D meets all cliques of G.The clique-transversal number, denoted Tc(G),is the minimum cardinality of a clique- transversal set in G.In this paper we present the bounds on the clique-transversal number for regular graphs and characterize the extremal graphs achieving the lower bound. Also,we give the sharp bounds on the clique-transversal number for claw-free cubic graphs and we characterize the extremal graphs achieving the lower bound.  相似文献

A graph G is induced matching extendable if every induced matching of G is included in a perfect matching of G. A graph G is generalized induced matching extendable if every induced matching of G is included in a maximum matching of G. A graph G is claw-free, if G dose not contain any induced subgraph isomorphic to K1,3. The k-th power of G, denoted by Gu, is the graph with vertex set V(G) in which two vertices are adjacent if and only if the distance between them is at most k in G. In this paper we show that, if the maximum matchings of G and G3 have the same cardinality, then G3 is generalized induced matching extendable. We also show that this result is best possible. As a result, we show that if G is a connected claw-flee graph, then G3 is generalized induced matching extendable.  相似文献

For a graph G, a path cover is a set of vertex disjoint paths covering all the vertices of G, and a path cover number of G, denoted by p(G), is the minimum number of paths in a path cover among all the path covers of G. In this paper, we prove that if G is a K_(1,4)-free graph of order n and σ_(k+1)(G) ≥ n-k, then p(G) ≤ k, where σ_(k+1)(G) = min{∑v∈S d(v) : S is an independent set of G with |S| = k + 1}.  相似文献

Let G be a simple graph with no isolated edge. An Ⅰ-total coloring of a graph G is a mapping φ : V(G) ∪ E(G) → {1, 2, ···, k} such that no adjacent vertices receive the same color and no adjacent edges receive the same color. An Ⅰ-total coloring of a graph G is said to be adjacent vertex distinguishing if for any pair of adjacent vertices u and v of G, we have C_φ(u) = C_φ(v), where C_φ(u) denotes the set of colors of u and its incident edges. The minimum number of colors required for an adjacent vertex distinguishing Ⅰ-total coloring of G is called the adjacent vertex distinguishing Ⅰ-total chromatic number, denoted by χ_at~i(G).In this paper, we characterize the adjacent vertex distinguishing Ⅰ-total chromatic number of outerplanar graphs.  相似文献

Let G be a simple graph. An IE-total coloring f of G is a coloring of the vertices and edges of G so that no two adjacent vertices receive the same color. For each vertex x of G, let C(x) be the set of colors of vertex x and edges incident to x under f. For an IE-total coloring f of G using k colors, if C(u) ≠ C(v) for any two different vertices u and v of G, then f is called a k-vertex-distinguishing IE-total-coloring of G or a k-VDIET coloring of G for short. The minimum number of colors required for a VDIET coloring of G is denoted by χ_(vt)~(ie) (G) and is called vertex-distinguishing IE-total chromatic number or the VDIET chromatic number of G for short. The VDIET colorings of complete bipartite graphs K_(8,n)are discussed in this paper. Particularly, the VDIET chromatic number of K_(8,n) are obtained.  相似文献

A clique-transversal set D of a graph G is a set of vertices of G such that D meets all cliques of G.The clique-transversal number, denoted by τC(G),is the minimum cardinality of a clique-transversal set in G.In this paper,we first present a lower bound on τC(G) and characterize the extremal graphs achieving the lower bound for a connected(claw,K4)-free 4-regular graph G.Furthermore,we show that for any 2-connected(claw,K4)-free 4-regular graph G of order n,its clique-transversal number equals to [n/3].  相似文献
