In this paper we first introduce the concept of compatible mappings of type (B) and compare these mappings with compatible mappings and compatible mappings of type (A) in Saks spaces. In the sequel, we derive some relations between these mappings. We show that the Jungck iteration scheme can be used to approximate the common fixed points of some weakly compatible pairs of generalized quasicontractive operators defined on metric spaces. The existence of coincidence points are also discussed for those pair of maps. The results are generalizations of well known results of the convergence of Picard iterations for single self maps of Banach spaces. In particular, the results improve, generalize and extend the recent results of Berinde [V. Berinde, A common fixed point theorem for compatible quasi contractive self mappings in metric spaces, Applied Mathematics and Computation 213 (2009) 348-354] and answers the open question posed in the paper.  相似文献

A fixed point theorem of Ciric, Diviccaro et al., Fisher and Sessa, Gregus, Jungck, and Mukherjee and Verma is generalized to weakly compatible maps. As applications, common fixed point and approximation results for Gregus type I-contractions are obtained. Our results unify and generalize various known results to the more general classes of noncommuting mappings.  相似文献

Using the setting of cone metric space, a fixed point theorem is proved for two maps, and several corollaries are obtained. In these cases, the cone does not need to be normal. In the present paper, we show that under contractive conditions, the existence of a common fixed point and occasional weak compatibility are equivalent conditions. We also show that contractive conditions employed by Jungck and Rhoades [Fixed point theorems for occasionally weakly compatible mappings, Fixed Point Theory 7(2) (2006) 287–296; Fixed Point Theory 9 (2008) 383–384 (erratum)] do not provide a nontrivial setting for the application of occasional weak compatible mappings. Finally, we improve the results of Jungck and Rhoades by employing a proper setting.  相似文献
