Traditional methods of developing flight schedules generally do not take into consideration disruptions that may arise during actual operations. Potential irregularities in airline operations such as equipment failure are not adequately considered during the planning stage of a flight schedule. As such, flight schedules cannot be met as planned and their performance is compromised, which may eventually lead to huge losses in revenue for airlines. In this paper, we seek to improve the robustness of a flight schedule by re-timing its departure times. The problem is modeled as a multi-objective optimization problem, and a multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA) is developed to solve the problem. To evaluate flight schedules, SIMAIR 2.0, a simulation model which simulates airline operations under operational irregularities, has been employed. The simulation results indicate that we are able to develop schedules with better operation costs and on-time performance through the application of MOGA.  相似文献

A novel fitness sharing method for MOGA (Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm) is proposed by combining a new sharing function and sided degradations in the sharing process, with preference to either of two close solutions. The modified MOGA adopting the new sharing approach is named as MOGAS. Three different variants of MOGAS are tested; MOGASc, MOGASp and MOGASd, favoring children over parents, parents over children and solutions closer to the ideal point, respectively. The variants of MOGAS are compared with MOGA and other state-of-the-art multi-objective evolutionary algorithms such as IBEA, HypE, NSGA-II and SPEA2. The new method shows significant performance improvements from MOGA and is very competitive against other Evolutionary Multi-objective Algorithms (EMOAs) for the ZDT and DTLZ test functions with two and three objectives. Among the three variants MOGASd is found to give the best results for the test problems.  相似文献

This paper studies the scheduling problem in hybrid flow shop (HFS) environment. The sequence dependent family setup time (SDFST) is concerned with minimization of makespan and total tardiness. Production environments in real world include innumerable cases of uncertainty and stochasticity of events and a suitable scheduling model should consider them. Hence, in this paper, due date is assumed to be uncertain and its data follow a normal distribution. Since the proposed problem is NP-hard, two metaheuristic algorithms are presented based on genetic algorithm, namely: Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGAII) and Multi Objective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA). The quantitative and qualitative results of these two algorithms have been compared in different dimensions with multi phase genetic algorithm (MPGA) used in literature review. Experimental results indicate that the NSGAII performs very well when compared against MOGA and MPGA in a considerably shorter time.  相似文献

A multiobjective combinatorial optimization (MOCO) formulation for the following location-routing problem in healthcare management is given: For a mobile healthcare facility, a closed tour with stops selected from a given set of population nodes has to be found. Tours are evaluated according to three criteria: (i) An economic efficiency criterion related to the tour length, (ii) the criterion of average distances to the nearest tour stops corresponding to p-median location problem formulations, and (iii) a coverage criterion measuring the percentage of the population unable to reach a tour stop within a predefined maximum distance. Three algorithms to compute approximations to the set of Pareto-efficient solutions of the described MOCO problem are developed. The first uses the P-ACO technique, and the second and the third use the VEGA and the MOGA variant of multiobjective genetic algorithms, respectively. Computational experiments for the Thiès region in Senegal were carried out to evaluate the three approaches on real-world problem instances.  相似文献

Normally inventory models of deteriorating items, such as food products, vegetables, etc. involve imprecise parameters, like imprecise inventory costs, fuzzy storage area, fuzzy budget allocation, etc. In this paper, we aim to provide two defuzzification techniques for two fuzzy inventory models using (i) extension principle and duality theory of non-linear programming and (ii) interval arithmetic. On the basis of Zadeh’s extension principle, two non-linear programs parameterized by the possibility level α are formulated to calculate the lower and upper bounds of the minimum average cost at α-level, through which the membership function of the objective function is constructed. In interval arithmetic technique the interval objective function has been transformed into an equivalent deterministic multi-objective problem defined by the left and right limits of the interval. This formulation corresponds to the possibility level, α = 0.5. Finally, the multi-objective problem is solved by a multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA). The model has been illustrated through a numerical example and solved for different values of possibility level, α through extension principle and for α = 0.5 via MOGA. As a particular case, the results have been obtained for the inventory model without deterioration. Results from two methods for α = 0.5 are compared.  相似文献

A new approach for modelling the dynamics of parallel kinematic (PKM) structures is presented in this paper. It leads to a formulation of the dynamic equations which is linear with respect to a dynamic parameter vector of minimal dimension. Thus, the equations can be directly used for parameter identi.cation by linear estimation techniques. The algorithm utilises Jourdain 's principle of virtual power which leads to very efficient resulting code. The parameter reduction is based on opening the kinematic loops so that analytic rules known from serial robots can be implemented. Additionally, a new approach for dynamic parameter identification is suggested. The application to modelling the PKM PaLiDa and identifying its gravitational parameters proves the capacity of the presented approaches.  相似文献

This paper proposes a multi-objective approach to model a replacement policy problem applicable to equipment with a predetermined period of use (a planning horizon), which may undergo critical and non-critical failures. Corrective replacements and imperfect repairs are taken to restore the system to operation respectively when critical and non-critical failures occur. Generalized Renewal Process (GRP) is used to model imperfect repairs. The proposed model supports decisions on preventive replacement intervals and the number of spare parts purchased at the beginning of the planning horizon. A Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA) coupled with discrete event simulation (DES) is proposed to provide a set of solutions (Pareto-optimum set) committed to the different objectives of a maintenance manager in the face of a replacement policy problem, that is, maintenance cost, rate of occurrence of failures, unavailability, and investment on spare parts. The proposed MOGA is validated by an application example against the results obtained via the exhaustive approach. Moreover, examples are presented to evaluate the behavior of objective functions on Pareto set (trade-off analysis) and the impact of the repair effectiveness on the decision making.  相似文献

Energy consumption has become a key concern for manufacturing sector because of negative environmental impact of operations. We develop constructive heuristics and multi-objective genetic algorithms (MOGA) for a two-machine sequence-dependent permutation flowshop problem to address the trade-off between energy consumption as a measure of sustainability and makespan as a measure of service level. We leverage the variable speed of operations to develop energy-efficient schedules that minimize total energy consumption and makespan. As minimization of energy consumption and minimization of makespan are conflicting objectives, the solutions to this problem constitute a Pareto frontier. We compare the performance of constructive heuristics and MOGAs with CPLEX and random search in a wide range of problem instances. The results show that MOGAs hybridized with constructive heuristics outperform regular MOGA and heuristics alone in terms of quality and cardinality of Pareto frontier. We provide production planners with new and scalable solution techniques that will enable them to make informed decisions considering energy consumption together with service objectives in shop floor scheduling.  相似文献

In this paper, an Economic Production Quantity (EPQ) model is developed with flexibility and reliability consideration of production process in an imprecise and uncertain mixed environment. The model has incorporated fuzzy random demand, an imprecise production preparation time and shortage. Here, the setup cost and the reliability of the production process along with the backorder replenishment time and production run period are the decision variables. Due to fuzzy-randomness of the demand, expected average demand is a fuzzy quantity and also imprecise preparation time is represented by fuzzy number. Therefore, both are first transformed to a corresponding interval number and then using the interval arithmetic, the single objective function for expected profit over the time cycle is changed to respective multi-objective functions. Due to highly nonlinearity of the expected profit functions it is optimized using a multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA). The associated profit maximization problem is illustrated by numerical examples and also its sensitivity analysis is carried out.  相似文献

Global optimization techniques exist in the literature for finding the optimal shape parameter of the infinitely smooth radial basis functions (RBF) if they are used to solve partial differential equations. However these global collocation methods, applied directly, suffer from severe ill-conditioning when the number of centers is large. To circumvent this, we have used a local optimization algorithm, in the optimization of the RBF shape parameter which is then used to develop a grid-free local (LRBF) scheme for solving convection–diffusion equations. The developed algorithm is based on the re-construction of the forcing term of the governing partial differential equation over the centers in a local support domain. The variable (optimal) shape parameter in this process is obtained by minimizing the local Cost function at each center (node) of the computational domain. It has been observed that for convection dominated problems, the local optimization scheme over uniform centers has produced oscillatory solutions, therefore, in this work the local optimization algorithm has been experimented over Chebyshev and non-uniform distribution of the centers. The numerical experiments presented in this work have shown that the LRBF scheme with the local optimization produced accurate and stable solutions over the non-uniform points even for convection dominant convection–diffusion equations.  相似文献

In real-world applications of optimization, optimal solutions are often of limited value, because disturbances of or changes to input data may diminish the quality of an optimal solution or even render it infeasible. One way to deal with uncertain input data is robust optimization, the aim of which is to find solutions which remain feasible and of good quality for all possible scenarios, i.e., realizations of the uncertain data. For single objective optimization, several definitions of robustness have been thoroughly analyzed and robust optimization methods have been developed. In this paper, we extend the concept of minmax robustness (Ben-Tal, Ghaoui, & Nemirovski, 2009) to multi-objective optimization and call this extension robust efficiency for uncertain multi-objective optimization problems. We use ingredients from robust (single objective) and (deterministic) multi-objective optimization to gain insight into the new area of robust multi-objective optimization. We analyze the new concept and discuss how robust solutions of multi-objective optimization problems may be computed. To this end, we use techniques from both robust (single objective) and (deterministic) multi-objective optimization. The new concepts are illustrated with some linear and quadratic programming instances.  相似文献

The difficulty of resolving the multiobjective combinatorial optimization problems with traditional methods has directed researchers to investigate new approaches which perform better. In recent years some algorithms based on ant colony optimization (ACO) metaheuristic have been suggested to solve these multiobjective problems. In this study these algorithms have been reported and programmed both to solve the biobjective quadratic assignment problem (BiQAP) instances and to evaluate the performances of these algorithms. The robust parameter sets for each 12 multiobjective ant colony optimization (MOACO) algorithms have been calculated and BiQAP instances in the literature have been solved within these parameter sets. The performances of the algorithms have been evaluated by comparing the Pareto fronts obtained from these algorithms. In the evaluation step, a multi significance test is used in a non hierarchical structure, and a performance metric (P metric) essential for this test is introduced. Through this study, decision makers will be able to put in the biobjective algorithms in an order according to the priority values calculated from the algorithms’ Pareto fronts. Moreover, this is the first time that MOACO algorithms have been compared by solving BiQAPs.  相似文献

Topology optimization techniques are applied in most cases for static applications. However, recently topology optimization procedures for structures under dynamic loads have been the focus of several studies. In this work, a topology optimization scheme for flexible multibody systems using equivalent static loads and displacement fields is investigated. The optimization problem is formulated using a homogenization method, more precisely, the solid isotropic material with penalization (SIMP) approach. The objective function in the optimization problem is the compliance and the method of moving asymptotes is used as optimizer. The objective function and the sensitivities are computed directly from the displacement field computed in the dynamic simulation. The examples of a 2-arm manipulator and a slider-crank mechanism are presented and the results are discussed to verify the improved dynamical behavior through this optimization method. The survey of the relevant literature showed that there have been many studies for portfolio optimization problem and that the number of studies which have investigated the optimum portfolio using heuristic techniques is quite high. But almost none of these studies deals with particle swarm optimization (PSO) approach. This study presents a heuristic approach to portfolio optimization problem using PSO technique. The test data set is the weekly prices from March 1992 to September 1997 from the following indices: Hang Seng in Hong Kong, DAX 100 in Germany, FTSE 100 in UK, S&P 100 in USA and Nikkei in Japan. This study uses the cardinality constrained mean-variance model. Thus, the portfolio optimization model is a mixed quadratic and integer programming problem for which efficient algorithms do not exist. The results of this study are compared with those of the genetic algorithms, simulated annealing and tabu search approaches. The purpose of this paper is to apply PSO technique to the portfolio optimization problem. The results show that particle swarm optimization approach is successful in portfolio optimization.  相似文献

This paper presents the surrogate model based algorithm SO-I for solving purely integer optimization problems that have computationally expensive black-box objective functions and that may have computationally expensive constraints. The algorithm was developed for solving global optimization problems, meaning that the relaxed optimization problems have many local optima. However, the method is also shown to perform well on many local optimization problems, and problems with linear objective functions. The performance of SO-I, a genetic algorithm, Nonsmooth Optimization by Mesh Adaptive Direct Search (NOMAD), SO-MI (Müller et al. in Comput Oper Res 40(5):1383–1400, 2013), variable neighborhood search, and a version of SO-I that only uses a local search has been compared on 17 test problems from the literature, and on eight realizations of two application problems. One application problem relates to hydropower generation, and the other one to throughput maximization. The numerical results show that SO-I finds good solutions most efficiently. Moreover, as opposed to SO-MI, SO-I is able to find feasible points by employing a first optimization phase that aims at minimizing a constraint violation function. A feasible user-supplied point is not necessary.  相似文献

Metaheuristic optimization algorithms have become popular choice for solving complex and intricate problems which are otherwise difficult to solve by traditional methods. In the present study an attempt is made to review the hybrid optimization techniques in which one main algorithm is a well known metaheuristic; particle swarm optimization or PSO. Hybridization is a method of combining two (or more) techniques in a judicious manner such that the resulting algorithm contains the positive features of both (or all) the algorithms. Depending on the algorithm/s used we made three classifications as (i) Hybridization of PSO and genetic algorithms (ii) Hybridization of PSO with differential evolution and (iii) Hybridization of PSO with other techniques. Where, other techniques include various local and global search methods. Besides giving the review we also show a comparison of three hybrid PSO algorithms; hybrid differential evolution particle swarm optimization (DE-PSO), adaptive mutation particle swarm optimization (AMPSO) and hybrid genetic algorithm particle swarm optimization (GA-PSO) on a test suite of nine conventional benchmark problems.  相似文献

This paper is aimed at presenting a study on the optimization of the Biglide mini parallel robot, which comprises two-degree-of-freedom (DOF) mini parallel robots with constant struts. The robot workspace is characterized and the inverse kinematics equation is obtained. In the paper, design optimization is implemented with Genetic Algorithms (GA) for optimization considering transmission quality index and workspace. Here, intended to show the advantages of using the GA, we applied it to a multicriteria optimization problem of 2 DOF mini parallel robot. Genetic algorithms (GA) are so far generally the best and most robust kind of evolutionary algorithms. A GA has a number of advantages. It can quickly scan a vast solution set. Bad proposals do not affect the end solution negatively as they are simply discarded. The obtained results have shown that the use of GA in such kind of optimization problem enhances the quality of the optimization outcome, providing a better and more realistic support for the decision maker. Given a finite dimensional asymmetric normed lattice, we provide explicit formulae for the optimization of the associated (non-Hausdorff) asymmetric “distance” among a subset and a point. Our analysis has its roots and finds its applications in the current development of effective algorithms for multi-objective optimization programs. We are interested in providing the fundamental theoretical results for the associated convex analysis, fixing in this way the framework for this new optimization tool. The fact that the associated topology is not Hausdorff forces us to define a new setting and to use a new point of view for this analysis. Existence and uniqueness theorems for this optimization are shown. Our main result is the translation of the original abstract optimal distance problem to a clear optimization scheme. Actually, this justifies the algorithms and shows new aspects of the numerical and computational methods that have been already used in visualization of multi-objective optimization problems.
