The local and global existence of solutions for a generalized Camassa-Holm equation

A fully nonlinear generalization of the Camassa-Holm equation is investigated. Using the pseudoparabolic regularization technique, its local well-posedness in Sobolev space Hs(R) with s3/2 is established via a limiting procedure. Provided that the initial momentum (1-x2)u0 satisfies the sign condition, u0∈Hs(R)(s3/2) and u0∈L1(R),the existence and uniqueness of global solutions for the equation are shown to be true in the space C([0,∞); Hs(R))∩C1([0,∞);Hs-1(R)).     

Local solvability of the cauchy problem of a fifth-order nonlinear dispersive equation

The solvability of the fifth-order nonlinear dispersive equation δtu＋au （δxu）^2＋βδx^3u＋γδx^5u = 0 is studied. By using the approach of Kenig, Ponce and Vega and some Strichartz estimates for the corresponding linear problem,it is proved that if the initial function u0 belongs to H^5（R） and s〉1/4,then the Cauchy problem has a unique solution in C（[-T,T],H^5（R）） for some T〉0.     

REMARKS ON THE LIFESPAN FOR THE SOLUTION TO NONLINEAR WAVE EQUATIONS IN THREE SPACE DIMENSIONS

The authors consider the Cauchy problem for the following nonlinear wave equationswhere x ∈ R3, t ≥ 0, ε > 0 is a small parameter, and obtain the sharp bounds for the lifespan of solution to (0.1). Specially, it is proved that there exist two constants C1 and C2, which are independent of ε, then the lifespan T(ε) satisfies the folowing inequalities

在临界Sobolev空间H~(1/2)(R~3)中,本文研究了三维不可压磁微极流体方程组的适定性.设(u_0,ω_0,b_0)是H~(1/2)(R~3)中的小初值,则三维不可压磁微极流体方程组存在唯一整体强解(u,ω,b)∈C([0,+∞);H~(1/2)(R~3))∩L~2((0,+∞);H~(3/2)(R~3))∩L~4((0,+∞);H~1(R~3));设大初值(u_0,ω_0,b_0)∈H~(1/2)(R~3),则存在一个正的时间T=T(u_0,ω_0,b_0)使得三维不可压磁微极流体方程组在[0,T]内存在唯一局部强解(u,ω,b)∈C([0,T];H~(1/2)(R~3))∩L~2((0,T];H~(3/2)(R~3))∩L~4((0,T];H~1(R~3)),这些改进了Yuan J的结果(Existence theorem and blow-up criterion of the strong solutions to the magnetomicropolar fluid equations,Math.Methods Appl.Sci.,31(2008),1113-1130).     

Cauchy problem of semi-linear parabolic equations with weak data in homogeneous space and application to the Navier-Stokes equations

In this paper we study the Cauchy problem for a class of semi-linear parabolic type equations withweak data n the homogeneous spaces.We give a method which can be used to construct local mild solutionsof the abstract Cauchy problem in C(σ,s,p)and L~q([O,T);H~(s,p)by introducing the concept of both admissiblequintuptet and compatible space and establishing estblishing time-space estimates for solutions to the linear parabolic typeequations For the small data,we prove that these results can be extended globally in time. NON-UNIFORM DEPENDENCE ON INITIAL DATA FOR THE MODIFIED CAMASSA-HOLM EQUATION ON THE LINE

In this paper, we study the Cauchy problem for the modified Camassa-Holm equation mt + umx + 2ux m = 0, m =(1- δ2x)2u,u(x, 0) = u0(x) ∈ Hs(R), x ∈ R, t 0,and show that the solution map is not uniformly continuous in Sobolev spaces Hs(R) for s 7/2. Compared with the periodic problem, the non-periodic problem is more difficult,e.g., it depends on the conservation law. Our proof is based on the estimates for the actual solutions and the approximate solutions, which consist of a low frequency and a high frequency part.     

The Cauchy problem for the stochastic generalized Benjamin-Ono equation

The current paper is devoted to the Cauchy problem for the stochastic generalized Benjamin-Ono equation.By establishing the bilinear and trilinear estimates in some Bourgain spaces,we prove that the Cauchy problem for the stochastic generalized Benjamin-Ono equation is locally well-posed for the initial data u_0(x,w)∈L~2(Ω;H~s(R)) which is F_0-measurable with s≥1/2-α/4 and Φ∈L_2~(0,s).In particular,when α=1,we prove that it is globally well-posed for the initial data u_0(x,w)∈L~2(Ω;H~1(R)) which is F_0-measurable and Φ∈L_2~(0,1).The key ingredients that we use in this paper are trilinear estimates,the Ito formula and the Burkholder-Davis-Gundy(BDG) inequality as well as the stopping time technique.     

Resonance for p-Laplacian and asymmetric nonlinearities

In the present paper, we aim to investigate the existence of solutions for the quasilinear boundary value problem involving fractional operators in the ψ-fractional space H([0, T],R) with asymmetric nonlinearities.     

广义KdV--BO方程的Cauchy问题的局部适定性的改进结果

In this paper we prove that the Cauchy problem associated with the generalized KdV-BO equation ut ＋ uxxx ＋ λH（uxx） ＋ u^2ux = 0, x ∈ R, t ≥ 0 is locally wellposed in Hr^s（R） for 4/3 〈r≤2, b〉1/r and s≥s（r）= 1/2- 1/2r. In particular, for r = 2, we reobtain the result in [3].     

LOCAL WELL-POSEDNESS OF INTERACTION EQUATIONS FOR SHORT AND LONG DISPERSIVE WAVES

The well-posedness of the Cauchy problem for the system{iδtu+δx^2u=uv+|u|^2u,t,x∈IR，δtv+δxHδxv=δx|u|^2,u(0,x)=u0(x),v(0,x)=v0(x),is considered. It is proved that there exists a unique local solution (u(x,t), v(x,t))∈C（[0,T);H^s)×C([0,T);Hs^-1/2) for any initial data (u0,v0)∈H^s(IR)×H^s-1/2(IR)(s≥1/4) and the solution depends continuously on the initial data.     

RECENT PROGRESS ON SPHERICAL HARMONIC APPROXIMATION MADE BY BNU RESEARCH GROUP ——In memory of Professor Sun Yongsheng

As early as in 1990, Professor Sun Yongsheng, suggested his students at Beijing Normal University to consider research problems on the unit sphere. Under his guidance and encouragement his students started the research on spherical harmonic analysis and approximation. In this paper, we incompletely introduce the main achievements in this area obtained by our group and relative researchers during recent 5 years （2001-2005）. The main topics are： convergence of Cesaro summability, a.e. and strong summability of Fourier-Laplace series; smoothness and K-functionals; Kolmogorov and linear widths.     

A REPRESENTATION FORMULA RELATED TO SCHR(O)DINGER OPERATORS

Schr(o)dinger operator is a central subject in the mathematical study of quantum mechanics.Consider the Schrodinger operator H = -△ V on R, where △ = d2/dx2 and the potential function V is real valued. In Fourier analysis, it is well-known that a square integrable function admits an expansion with exponentials as eigenfunctions of -△. A natural conjecture is that an L2 function admits a similar expansion in terms of "eigenfunctions" of H, a perturbation of the Laplacian (see [7], Ch. Ⅺ and the notes), under certain condition on V.

Staircase transportation problems with superadditive rewards and cumulative capacities

A cumulative-capacitated transportation problem is studied. The supply nodes and demand nodes are each chains. Shipments from a supply node to a demand node are possible only if the pair lies in a sublattice, or equivalently, in a staircase disjoint union of rectangles, of the product of the two chains. There are (lattice) superadditive upper bounds on the cumulative flows in all leading subrectangles of each rectangle. It is shown that there is a greatest cumulative flow formed by the natural generalization of the South-West Corner Rule that respects cumulative-flow capacities; it has maximum reward when the rewards are (lattice) superadditive; it is integer if the supplies, demands and capacities are integer; and it can be calculated myopically in linear time. The result is specialized to earlier work of Hoeffding (1940), Fréchet (1951), Lorentz (1953), Hoffman (1963) and Barnes and Hoffman (1985). Applications are given to extreme constrained bivariate distributions, optimal distribution with limited one-way product substitution and, generalizing results of Derman and Klein (1958), optimal sales with age-dependent rewards and capacities.To our friend, Philip Wolfe, with admiration and affection, on the occasion of his 65th birthday.Research was supported respectively by the IBM T.J. Boundedness for commutators of multipliers on Hardy type spaces

In this paper, we study the commutators generalized by multipliers and a BMO function. Under some assumptions, we establish its boundedness properties from certain atomic Hardy space Hb^p（R^n） into the Lebesgue space L^p with p 〈 1.     

A unified approach to certain problems of best local approximation

In this paper we study best local quasi-rational approximation and best local approximation from finite dimensional subspaces of vectorial functions of several variables. Our approach extends and unifies several problems concerning best local multi-point approximation in different norms.
