In this article, we continue the numerical study of hyperbolic partial differential‐difference equation that was initiated in (Sharma and Singh, Appl Math Comput 9 ). In Sharma and Singh, the authors consider the problem with sufficiently small shift arguments. The term negative shift and positive shift are used for delay and advance arguments, respectively. Here, we propose a numerical scheme that works nicely irrespective of the size of shift arguments. In this article, we consider hyperbolic partial differential‐difference equation with negative or positive shift and present a numerical scheme based on the finite difference method for solving such type of initial and boundary value problems. The proposed numerical scheme is analyzed for stability and convergence in L norm. Finally, some test examples are given to validate convergence, the computational efficiency of the numerical scheme and the effect of shift arguments on the solution.© 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 对二维Neumann边界条件的线性双曲型方程建立了紧交替方向的隐格式.利用方程和边界条件得到在空间上的三阶与五阶导数的边界值,进而在内点、边界内点和边界角点分别建立9点、6点和4点紧差分格式;通过引进新的范数和L2范数估计L范数;借助能量估计、Gronwall不等式和Schwarz不等式等技巧,详细分析了差分格式在无穷范数下关于时间和空间分别为二阶和四阶收敛性,并给出了稳定性结果;通过数值算例,验证了理论分析结果.  相似文献

High-order compact finite difference method for solving the two-dimensional fourth-order nonlinear hyperbolic equation is considered in this article. In order to design an implicit compact finite difference scheme, the fourth-order equation is written as a system of two second-order equations by introducing the second-order spatial derivative as a new variable. The second-order spatial derivatives are approximated by the compact finite difference operators to obtain a fourth-order convergence. As well as, the second-order time derivative is approximated by the central difference method. Then, existence and uniqueness of numerical solution is given. The stability and convergence of the compact finite difference scheme are proved by the energy method. Numerical results are provided to verify the accuracy and efficiency of this scheme.  相似文献

Summary. An initial--boundary value problem to a system of nonlinear partial differential equations, which consists of a hyperbolic and a parabolic part, is taken into consideration. The problem is discretised by a compact finite difference method. An approximation of the numerical solution is constructed, at which the difference scheme is linearised. In this paper, we present a convergence analysis of a two-dimensional central finite volume scheme on unstructured triangular grids for hyperbolic systems of conservation laws. More precisely, we show that the solution obtained by the numerical base scheme presents, under an appropriate CFL condition, an optimal convergence to the unique entropy solution of the Cauchy problem.  相似文献

The hyperbolic partial differential equation with an integral condition arises in many physical phenomena. In this paper, we propose a numerical scheme to solve the one-dimensional hyperbolic equation that combines classical and integral boundary conditions using collocation points and approximating the solution using radial basis functions (RBFs). The results of numerical experiments are presented, and are compared with analytical solution and finite difference method to confirm the validity and applicability of the presented scheme.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a finite difference scheme for the solution of an initial-boundary value problem of the Schrödinger-Boussinesq equation. The scheme is fully implicit and conserves two invariable quantities of the system. We investigate the existence of the solution for the scheme, give computational process for the numerical solution and prove convergence of iteration method by which a nonlinear algebra system for unknown Vn+1 is solved. On the basis of a priori estimates for a numerical solution, the uniqueness, convergence and stability for the difference solution is discussed. Numerical experiments verify the accuracy of our method.  相似文献

In this article, a Crank‐Nicolson‐type finite difference scheme for the two‐dimensional Burgers' system is presented. The existence of the difference solution is shown by Brouwer fixed‐point theorem. The uniqueness of the difference solution and the stability and L2 convergence of the difference scheme are proved by energy method. An iterative algorithm for the difference scheme is given in detail. Furthermore, a linear predictor–corrector method is presented. The numerical results show that the predictor–corrector method is also convergent with the convergence order of two in both time and space. In this paper we study the asymptotic nonlinear stability of discrete shocks of the relaxing scheme for approximating the general system of nonlinear hyperbolic conservation laws. The existence of discrete shocks is established by suitable manifold construction, and it is shown that weak single discrete shocks for such a scheme are nonlinearly stable in , provided that the sums of the initial perturbations equal zero. These results should shed light on the convergence of the numerical solution constructed by the relaxing scheme for the single shock solution of the system of hyperbolic conservation laws. These results are proved by using both a weighted norm estimate and a characteristic energy method based on the internal structures of the discrete shocks.

Recently, it is found that telegraph equation is more suitable than ordinary diffusion equation in modelling reaction diffusion for such branches of sciences. In this article, we propose a numerical scheme to solve the one‐dimensional hyperbolic telegraph equation using collocation points and approximating the solution using thin plate splines radial basis function. The scheme works in a similar fashion as finite difference methods. The results of numerical experiments are presented, and are compared with analytical solutions to confirm the good accuracy of the presented scheme. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Chebyshev polynomials of the first kind are employed in a space–time least-squares spectral element formulation applied to linear and nonlinear hyperbolic scalar equations. No stabilization techniques are required to render a stable, high order accurate scheme. In parts of the domain where the underlying exact solution is smooth, the scheme exhibits exponential convergence with polynomial enrichment, whereas in parts of the domain where the underlying exact solution contains discontinuities the solution displays a Gibbs-like behavior. An edge detection method is employed to determine the position of the discontinuity. Piecewise reconstruction of the numerical solution retrieves a monotone solution. Numerical results will be given in which the capabilities of the space–time formulation to capture discontinuities will be demonstrated.  相似文献

Dynamic partial differential equation (PDE) parametric curves which can be expressed as a coupled system of two hyperbolic equations are developed. In curve design, dynamic PDE parametric curves can be modified intuitively and are more flexible than ordinary differential equation (ODE) curves. The calculation of dynamic PDE parametric curves must recur to numerical methods and a three-level finite difference scheme is proposed. Approximation and stability properties for the scheme are proved and convergence property is derived. An example of interpolating PDE curves is presented as an application of dynamic PDE parametric curves.  相似文献

In this paper, the authors propose a numerical method to compute the solution of a Cauchy problem with blow-up of the solution. The problem is split in two parts: a hyperbolic problem which is solved by using Hopf and Lax formula and a parabolic problem solved by a backward linearized Euler method in time and a finite element method in space. It is proved that the numerical solution blows up in a finite time as the exact solution and the support of the approximation of a self-similar solution remains bounded.
