We consider averaging operators over curves and surfaces satisfying the rotational curvature condition of Phong and Stein. Using combinatorial arguments restricted weak-type versions of the standard estimates are obtained under weaker assumptions on the regularity of these surfaces. We also consider maximal functions over circles in the plane and obtain a simpler proof of Wolff's endpoint result.  相似文献

This article introduces a data-adaptive nonparametric approach for the estimation of time-varying spectral densities from nonstationary time series. Time-varying spectral densities are commonly estimated by local kernel smoothing. The performance of these nonparametric estimators, however, depends crucially on the smoothing bandwidths that need to be specified in both time and frequency direction. As an alternative and extension to traditional bandwidth selection methods, we propose an iterative algorithm for constructing localized smoothing kernels data-adaptively. The main idea, inspired by the concept of propagation-separation, is to determine for a point in the time-frequency plane the largest local vicinity over which smoothing is justified by the data. By shaping the smoothing kernels nonparametrically, our method not only avoids the problem of bandwidth selection in the strict sense but also becomes more flexible. It not only adapts to changing curvature in smoothly varying spectra but also adjusts for structural breaks in the time-varying spectrum. We investigate the properties of bounded operators which satisfy a certain spectral additivity condition, and use our results to study Lie and Jordan algebras of compact operators. We prove that these algebras have nontrivial invariant subspaces when their elements have sublinear or submultiplicative spectrum, and when they satisfy simple trace conditions. In certain cases we show that these conditions imply that the algebra is (simultaneously) triangularizable.  相似文献

In a previous paper for a class of pairs of operators in a Hilbert space with nuclear difference or under a more general nuclearity condition there was introduced a spectral shift functional. Here we consider the local integrability of this spectral shift functional, i.e., the problem when this functional can locally be represented by an integrable function. The general results are then applied to pairs of definitizable and locally definitizable unitary operators in a Krein space.  相似文献

In this paper we develop elements of the global calculus of Fourier integral operators in ${{\mathbb R}^n}$ under minimal decay assumptions on phases and amplitudes. We also establish global weighted Sobolev L2 estimates for a class of Fourier integral operators that appears in the analysis of global smoothing problems for dispersive partial differential equations. As an application, we exhibit a new type of weighted estimates for hyperbolic equations, where the decay of data in space is quantitatively translated into the time decay of solutions.  相似文献

We exhibit a concentration‐collapse decomposition of singularities of fourth‐order curvature flows, including the L2 curvature flow and Calabi flow, in dimensions n ≤ 4. The proof requires the development of several new a priori estimates. First, we develop a smoothing result for initial metrics with small energy and a volume growth lower bound, in the vein of Perelman's pseudo locality result. Next, we generalize our technique from prior work to exhibit local smoothing estimates for the L2 flow in the presence of a curvature‐related bound. A final key ingredient is a new local ?‐regularity result for L2 critical metrics with possibly nonconstant scalar curvature. Applications of these results include new compactness and diffeomorphism‐finiteness theorems for smooth compact 4‐manifolds satisfying the necessary and effectively minimal hypotheses of L2 curvature pinching and a volume‐noncollapsing condition. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

This paper is the first of two papers constructing a calculus of pseudodifferential operators suitable for doing analysis on -rank 1 locally symmetric spaces and Riemannian manifolds generalizing these. This generalization is the interior of a manifold with boundary, where the boundary has the structure of a tower of fibre bundles. The class of operators we consider on such a space includes those arising naturally from metrics which degenerate to various orders at the boundary, in directions given by the tower of fibrations. As well as -rank 1 locally symmetric spaces, examples include Ricci-flat metrics on the complement of a divisor in a smooth variety constructed by Tian and Yau. In this first part of the calculus construction, parametrices are found for “fully elliptic differential a-operators,” which are uniformly elliptic operators on these manifolds that satisfy an additional invertibility condition at infinity. In the second part we will consider operators that do not satisfy this condition.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with establishing uniform weighted L p L q estimates for a class of operators generalizing both Radon-like operators and sublevel set operators. Such estimates are shown to hold under general circumstances whenever a sublevel-type inequality is satisfied by certain associated measures (the inequality is of the sort studied by Oberlin (Math. Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 129(3):517–526, 2000), relating measures of parallelepipeds to powers of their Euclidean volumes). These ideas lead to previously unknown, weighted affine-invariant estimates for Radon-like operators as well as new L p -improving estimates for degenerate Radon-like operators with folding canonical relations which satisfy an additional curvature condition of Greenleaf and Seeger (J. Reine Angew. Math. 455:35–56, 1994) for FIOs (building on the ideas of Sogge (Invent. Math. 104(2):349–376, 1991) and Mockenhaupt et al. (J. Am. Math. Soc. 6(1):65–130, 1993)); these new estimates fall outside the range of estimates which are known to hold in the generality of the FIO context.  相似文献

A link is found between quasiconvexity and the conditions for a set L of conductivity or elasticity tensors to be stable under lamination. These conditions, derived in the companion paper, are shown here to be equivalent to the condition that for every point B on the boundary of the set L an operator TB dependent on the tangent plane and curvature of the set at B is a quasiconvex translation operator. A separate class of quasiconvex translation operators is obtained which are candidates for proving that L is stable under homogenization. The region stable under homogenization associated with any one of these operators shares a common boundary point and tangent plane with the set L and has curvature at that point not greater than the curvature of L. The conditions under which there exists a representative subclass of these operators such that the associated regions stable under homogenization wrap around L remains unresolved. It is proved that L can be characterized by minimizations of sums and dual energies in much the same way that convex sets can be characterized by their Legendre transforms. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

We extend the ordered weighted averaging (OWA) operator to a provide a new class of operators called the generalized OWA (GOWA) operators. These operators add to the OWA operator an additional parameter controlling the power to which the argument values are raised. We look at some special cases of these operators. In this paper, we study a classes of oscillatory singular integral operators of nonconvolution type with phases more general than polynomials. We prove that such operators are bounded on Lp provided their kernels satisfy a very weak condition. In addition, we also study the related truncated oscillatory singular integral operators. Our aim is to study the oblique derivative problem for a class of nonlinear differential operators in the plane with quadratic growth. We assume the discontinuous operators to satisfy Carathéodory's condition and a suitable ellipticity condition. Under some geometrical conditions we prove strong solvability of the problem under consideration. The main tool in the proof is Leray-Schauder fixed point theorem, that reduces the solvability of the problem to the establishment of a priori estimate, by means of a step by step procedure.  相似文献

In this paper we show that the nilpotent perturbation of operators in the Helton class of p-hyponormal operators has scalar extensions. As a corollary we get that the nilpotent perturbation of each operator in the Helton class of p-hyponormal operators has a nontrivial invariant subspace if its spectrum has nonempty interior in the plane.  相似文献

Conditional expectations operators acting on Riesz spaces are shown to commute with a class of principal band projections. Using the above commutation property, conditional expectation operators on Riesz spaces are shown to be averaging operators. Here the theory of f-algebras is used when defining multiplication on the Riesz spaces. This leads to the extension of these conditional expectation operators to their so-called natural domains, i.e., maximal domains for which the operators are both averaging operators and conditional expectations. We prove that one-dimensional reflectionless Schrödinger operators with spectrum a homogeneous set in the sense of Carleson, belonging to the class introduced by Sodin and Yuditskii, have purely absolutely continuous spectra. This class includes all earlier examples of reflectionless almost periodic Schrödinger operators. In addition, we construct examples of reflectionless Schrödinger operators with more general types of spectra, given by the complement of a Denjoy-Widom-type domain in C, which exhibit a singular component.  相似文献

On a periodic planar graph whose edge weights satisfy a certain simple geometric condition, the discrete Laplacian and Dirac operators have the property that their determinants and inverses only depend on the local geometry of the graph. We obtain explicit expressions for the logarithms of the (normalized) determinants, as well as the inverses of these operators. We relate the logarithm of the determinants to the volume plus mean curvature of an associated hyperbolic ideal polyhedron. In the associated dimer and spanning tree models, for which the determinants of the Dirac operator and the Laplacian respectively play the role of the partition function, this allows us to compute the entropy and correlations in terms of the local geometry. In addition, we define a continuous family of special discrete holomorphic functions which, via convolutions, gives a general process for constructing discrete holomorphic functions and discrete harmonic functions on critical planar graphs. We prove exponential localization at all energies for two types of one-dimensional random Schrödinger operators: the Poisson model and the random displacement model. As opposed to Anderson-type models, these operators are not monotonic in the random parameters. Therefore the classical one-parameter version of spectral averaging, as used in localization proofs for Anderson models, breaks down. We use the new method of two-parameter spectral averaging and apply it to the Poisson as well as the displacement case. In addition, we apply results from inverse spectral theory, which show that two-parameter spectral averaging works for sufficiently many energies (all but a discrete set) to conclude localization at all energies.
