In this paper, we give the equation that characterizes projective vector fields on a Finsler manifold by the local coordinate. Moreover, we obtain a feature of the projective fields on the compact Finsler manifold with non-positive flag curvature and the non-existence of projective vector fields on the compact Finsler manifold with negative flag curvature. Furthermore, we deduce some expectable, but non-trivial relationships between geometric vector fields such as projective, affine, conformal, homothetic and Killing vector fields on a Finsler manifold.  相似文献

There are two definitions of Einstein-Finsler spaces introduced by Akbar-Zadeh, which we will show is equal along the integral curves of I-invariant projective vector fields. The sub-algebra of the C-projective vector fields, leaving the H-curvature invariant, has been studied extensively. Here we show on a closed Finsler space with negative definite Ricci curvature reduces to that of Killing vector fields. Moreover, if an Einstein-Finsler space admits such a projective vector field then the flag curvature is constant. Finally, a classification of compact isotropic mean Landsberg manifolds admitting certain projective vector fields is obtained with respect to the sign of Ricci curvature.  相似文献

This article generalizes the formulas of Gauss-Ostrogradskii type for semibasic vector fields from Riemannian manifolds to real Finsler manifolds and obtains some formulas of Gauss-Ostrogradskii type for Finsler vector fields which are expressed in terms of the vertical and horizontal derivatives of the Cartan connection in real Finsler manifolds.  相似文献

In the recent paper [31] of Long and Duan (2009), we classified closed geodesics on Finsler manifolds into rational and irrational two families, and gave a complete understanding on the index growth properties of iterates of rational closed geodesics. This study yields that a rational closed geodesic cannot be the only closed geodesic on every irreversible or reversible (including Riemannian) Finsler sphere, and that there exist at least two distinct closed geodesics on every compact simply connected irreversible or reversible (including Riemannian) Finsler 3-dimensional manifold. In this paper, we study the index growth properties of irrational closed geodesics on Finsler manifolds. This study allows us to extend results in [31] of Long and Duan (2009) on rational, and in [12] of Duan and Long (2007), [39] of Rademacher (2010), and [40] of Rademacher (2008) on completely non-degenerate closed geodesics on spheres and CP2 to every compact simply connected Finsler manifold. Then we prove the existence of at least two distinct closed geodesics on every compact simply connected irreversible or reversible (including Riemannian) Finsler 4-dimensional manifold.  相似文献

We establish some comparison theorems on Finsler manifolds with curvature quartic decay. As their applications, we obtain some optimal compact theorems, volume growth and Mckean type estimate for the first Dirichlet eigenvalue for such manifolds. Although we present the results for Finsler manifolds, they are all new results for Riemannian manifolds.  相似文献

Faran posed an open problem about analysis on complex Finsler spaces: Is there an analogue of the (?)-Laplacian? Is there an analogue of Hodge theory? Under the assumption that (M,F) is a compact strongly Kahler Finsler manifold, we define a (?)-Laplacian on the base manifold. Our result shows that the well-known Hodge decomposition theorem in Kahler manifolds is still true in the more general compact strongly Kahler Finsler manifolds.  相似文献

We establish existence and uniqueness theorems for V-harmonic maps from complete noncompact manifolds. This class of maps includes Hermitian harmonic maps, Weyl harmonic maps, affine harmonic maps, and Finsler harmonic maps from a Finsler manifold into a Riemannian manifold. We also obtain a Liouville type theorem for V-harmonic maps. In addition, we prove a V-Laplacian comparison theorem under the Bakry-Emery Ricci condition.  相似文献

Killing vector fields of constant length correspond to isometries of constant displacement. Those in turn have been used to study homogeneity of Riemannian and Finsler quotient manifolds. Almost all of that work has been done for group manifolds or, more generally, for symmetric spaces. This paper extends the scope of research on constant length Killing vector fields to a class of Riemannian normal homogeneous spaces.  相似文献

Here, it is shown that every vector field on a Finsler space which keeps geodesic circles invariant is conformal. A necessary and sufficient condition for a vector field to keep geodesic circles invariant, known as concircular vector fields, is obtained. This leads to a significant definition of concircular vector fields on a Finsler space. Finally, complete Finsler spaces admitting a special conformal vector field are classified.  相似文献

We consider the energy (or the total bending) of unit vector fields oncompact Riemannian manifolds for which the set of its singularitiesconsists of a finite number of isolated points and a finite number ofpairwise disjoint closed submanifolds. We determine lower bounds for theenergy of such vector fields on general compact Riemannian manifolds andin particular on compact rank one symmetric spaces. This paper is one in a series generalizing our results in [12, 14, 15, 20] on the existence of extremal metrics to the general almost-homogeneous manifolds of cohomogeneity one. In this paper, we consider the affine cases with hypersurface ends. In particular, we study the existence of Kähler-Einstein metrics on these manifolds and obtain new Kähler-Einstein manifolds as well as Fano manifolds without Kähler-Einstein metrics. As a consequence of our study, we also give a solution to the problem posted by Ahiezer on the nonhomogeneity of compact almost-homogeneous manifolds of cohomogeneity one; this clarifies the classification of these manifolds as complex manifolds. We also consider Fano properties of the affine compact manifolds.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the relations between curvatures and geometries of a compact complex Finsler manifold. We first introduce various definitions of curvatures and then vanishing theorems are established under some positivity assumptions of curvatures.
