Let A and B be (not necessarily unital or closed) standard operator algebras on complex Banach spaces X and Y, respectively. For a bounded linear operator A on X, the peripheral spectrum σπ(A) of A is the set σπ(A)={zσ(A):|z|=maxωσ(A)|ω|}, where σ(A) denotes the spectrum of A. Assume that Φ:AB is a map the range of which contains all operators of rank at most two. It is shown that the map Φ satisfies the condition that σπ(BAB)=σπ(Φ(B)Φ(A)Φ(B)) for all A,BA if and only if there exists a scalar λC with λ3=1 and either there exists an invertible operator TB(X,Y) such that Φ(A)=λTAT-1 for every AA; or there exists an invertible operator TB(X,Y) such that Φ(A)=λTAT-1 for every AA. If X=H and Y=K are complex Hilbert spaces, the maps preserving the peripheral spectrum of the Jordan skew semi-triple product BAB are also characterized. Such maps are of the form A?UAU or A?UAtU, where UB(H,K) is a unitary operator, At denotes the transpose of A in an arbitrary but fixed orthonormal basis of H.  相似文献

A Hilbert space operator A ∈ B(H) is said to be p-quasi-hyponormal for some 0 < p ? 1, A ∈ p − QH, if A(∣A2p − ∣A2p)A ? 0. If H is infinite dimensional, then operators A ∈ p − QH are not supercyclic. Restricting ourselves to those A ∈ p − QH for which A−1(0) ⊆ A∗-1(0), A ∈ p − QH, a necessary and sufficient condition for the adjoint of a pure p − QH operator to be supercyclic is proved. Operators in p − QH satisfy Bishop’s property (β). Each A ∈ p − QH has the finite ascent property and the quasi-nilpotent part H0(A − λI) of A equals (A − λI)-1(0) for all complex numbers λ; hence f(A) satisfies Weyl’s theorem, and f(A) satisfies a-Weyl’s theorem, for all non-constant functions f which are analytic on a neighborhood of σ(A). It is proved that a Putnam-Fuglede type commutativity theorem holds for operators in p − QH.  相似文献

Let B(H) be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on a complex Hilbert space H with dimH?2. It is proved that a surjective map φ on B(H) preserves operator pairs whose products are nonzero projections in both directions if and only if there is a unitary or an anti-unitary operator U on H such that φ(A)=λUAU for all A in B(H) for some constants λ with λ2=1. Related results for surjective maps preserving operator pairs whose triple Jordan products are nonzero projections in both directions are also obtained. These show that the operator pairs whose products or triple Jordan products are nonzero projections are isometric invariants of B(H).  相似文献

Let N be a nest on a complex Banach space X with NN complemented in X whenever N-=N, and let AlgN be the associated nest algebra. We say that an operator Z∈AlgN is an all-derivable point of AlgN if every linear map δ from AlgN into itself derivable at Z (i.e. δ(A)B+Aδ(B)=δ(Z) for any A,BA with AB=Z) is a derivation. In this paper, it is shown that if Z∈AlgN is an injective operator or an operator with dense range, or an idempotent operator with ran(Z)∈N, then Z is an all-derivable point of AlgN. Particularly, if N is a nest on a complex Hilbert space, then every idempotent operator with range in N, every injective operator as well as every operator with dense range in AlgN is an all-derivable point of the nest algebra AlgN.  相似文献

A Hilbert space operator TB(H) is hereditarily normaloid (notation: THN) if every part of T is normaloid. An operator THN is totally hereditarily normaloid (notation: TTHN) if every invertible part of T is normaloid. We prove that THN-operators with Bishop's property (β), also THN-contractions with a compact defect operator such that and non-zero isolated eigenvalues of T are normal, are not supercyclic. Take A and B in THN and let dAB denote either of the elementary operators in B(B(H)): ΔAB and δAB, where ΔAB(X)=AXBX and δAB(X)=AXXB. We prove that if non-zero isolated eigenvalues of A and B are normal and , then dAB is an isoloid operator such that the quasi-nilpotent part H0(dABλ) of dABλ equals −1(dABλ)(0) for every complex number λ which is isolated in σ(dAB). If, additionally, dAB has the single-valued extension property at all points not in the Weyl spectrum of dAB, then dAB, and the conjugate operator , satisfy Weyl's theorem.  相似文献

Let B(H) be the algebra of bounded linear operator acting on a Hilbert space H (over the complex or real field). Characterization is given to A1,…,AkB(H) such that for any unitary operators is always in a special class S of operators such as normal operators, self-adjoint operators, unitary operators. As corollaries, characterizations are given to AB(H) such that complex, real or nonnegative linear combinations of operators in its unitary orbit U(A)={UAU:Uunitary} always lie in S.  相似文献

Additive maps derivable or Jordan derivable at zero point on nest algebras   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Let AlgN be a nest algebra associated with the nest N on a (real or complex) Banach space X. Assume that every NN is complemented whenever N-=N. Let δ:AlgN→AlgN be an additive map. It is shown that the following three conditions are equivalent: (1) δ is derivable at zero point, i.e., δ(AB)=δ(A)B+Aδ(B) whenever AB=0; (2) δ is Jordan derivable at zero point, i.e., δ(AB+BA)=δ(A)B+Aδ(B)+Bδ(A)+δ(B)A whenever AB+BA=0; (3) δ has the form δ(A)=τ(A)+cA for some additive derivation τ and some scalar c. It is also shown that δ is generalized derivable at zero point, i.e., δ(AB)=δ(A)B+Aδ(B)-Aδ(I)B whenever AB=0, if and only if δ is an additive generalized derivation. Finer characterizations of above maps are given for the case dimX=.  相似文献

Let H be a Hilbert space and let A and B be standard ∗-operator algebras on H. Denote by As and Bs the set of all self-adjoint operators in A and B, respectively. Assume that and are surjective maps such that M(AM(B)A)=M(A)BM(A) and M(BM(A)B)=M(B)AM(B) for every pair AAs, BBs. Then there exist an invertible bounded linear or conjugate-linear operator and a constant c∈{−1,1} such that M(A)=cTAT, AAs, and M(B)=cTBT, BBs.  相似文献

Let A be a Banach algebra with unity I and M be a unital Banach A-bimodule. A family of continuous additive mappings D=(δi)iN from A into M is called a higher derivable mapping at X, if δn(AB)=∑i+j=nδi(A)δj(B) for any A,BA with AB=X. In this paper, we show that D is a Jordan higher derivation if D is a higher derivable mapping at an invertible element X. As an application, we also get that every invertible operator in a nontrivial nest algebra is a higher all-derivable point.  相似文献

We prove that the operator G, the closure of the first-order differential operator −d/dt+D(t) on L2(R,X), is Fredholm if and only if the not well-posed equation u(t)=D(t)u(t), tR, has exponential dichotomies on R+ and R and the ranges of the dichotomy projections form a Fredholm pair; moreover, the index of this pair is equal to the Fredholm index of G. Here X is a Hilbert space, D(t)=A+B(t), A is the generator of a bi-semigroup, B(⋅) is a bounded piecewise strongly continuous operator-valued function. Also, we prove some perturbations results and consider various examples of not well-posed problems.  相似文献

Singular values, norms, and commutators   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Let and Xi, i=1,…,n, be bounded linear operators on a separable Hilbert space such that Xi is compact for i=1,…,n. It is shown that the singular values of are dominated by those of , where ‖·‖ is the usual operator norm. Among other applications of this inequality, we prove that if A and B are self-adjoint operators such that a1?A?a2 and b1?B?b2 for some real numbers and b2, and if X is compact, then the singular values of the generalized commutator AX-XB are dominated by those of max(b2-a1,a2-b1)(XX). This inequality proves a recent conjecture concerning the singular values of commutators. Several inequalities for norms of commutators are also given.  相似文献

Spectral properties of 1-D Schrödinger operators with local point interactions on a discrete set are well studied when d:=infn,kN|xnxk|>0. Our paper is devoted to the case d=0. We consider HX,α in the framework of extension theory of symmetric operators by applying the technique of boundary triplets and the corresponding Weyl functions. We show that the spectral properties of HX,α like self-adjointness, discreteness, and lower semiboundedness correlate with the corresponding spectral properties of certain classes of Jacobi matrices. Based on this connection, we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the operators HX,α to be self-adjoint, lower semibounded, and discrete in the case d=0.The operators with δ-type interactions are investigated too. The obtained results demonstrate that in the case d=0, as distinguished from the case d>0, the spectral properties of the operators with δ- and δ-type interactions are substantially different.  相似文献

All-derivable points of operator algebras   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Let A be an operator subalgebra in B(H), where H is a Hilbert space. We say that an element ZA is an all-derivable point of A for the norm-topology (strongly operator topology, etc.) if, every norm-topology (strongly operator topology, etc.) continuous derivable linear mapping φ at Z (i.e. φ(ST)=φ(S)T+Sφ(T) for any S,TA with ST=Z) is a derivation. In this paper, we show that every invertible operator in the nest algebra is an all-derivable point of the nest algebra for the strongly operator topology. We also prove that every nonzero element of the algebra of all 2×2 upper triangular matrixes is an all-derivable point of the algebra.  相似文献

For a commutative subspace lattice L in a von Neumann algebra N and a bounded linear map f:NalgLB(H), we show that if Af(B)C=0 for all A,B,CNalgL satisfying AB=BC=0, then f is a generalized derivation. For a unital C-algebra A, a unital Banach A-bimodule M, and a bounded linear map f:AM, we prove that if f(A)B=0 for all A,BA with AB=0, then f is a left multiplier; as a consequence, every bounded local derivation from a C-algebra to a Banach A-bimodule is a derivation. We also show that every local derivation on a semisimple free semigroupoid algebra is a derivation and every local multiplier on a free semigroupoid algebra is a multiplier.  相似文献

Let H be a complex Hilbert space and let B(H) denote the algebra of all bounded linear operators on H. For A,BB(H), the Jordan elementary operator UA,B is defined by UA,B(X)=AXB+BXA, ∀XB(H). In this short note, we discuss the norm of UA,B. We show that if dimH=2 and ‖UA,B‖=‖A‖‖B‖, then either AB or BA is 0. We give some examples of Jordan elementary operators UA,B such that ‖UA,B‖=‖A‖‖B‖ but AB≠0 and BA≠0, which answer negatively a question posed by M. Boumazgour in [M. Boumazgour, Norm inequalities for sums of two basic elementary operators, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 342 (2008) 386-393].  相似文献

An interesting and recently much studied generalization of the classical Schur class is the class of contractive operator-valued multipliers S(λ) for the reproducing kernel Hilbert space H(kd) on the unit ball BdCd, where kd is the positive kernel kd(λ,ζ)=1/(1−〈λ,ζ〉) on Bd. The reproducing kernel space H(KS) associated with the positive kernel KS(λ,ζ)=(IS(λ)S(ζ))⋅kd(λ,ζ) is a natural multivariable generalization of the classical de Branges-Rovnyak canonical model space. A special feature appearing in the multivariable case is that the space H(KS) in general may not be invariant under the adjoints of the multiplication operators on H(kd). We show that invariance of H(KS) under for each j=1,…,d is equivalent to the existence of a realization for S(λ) of the form S(λ)=D+C−1(Iλ1A1−?−λdAd)(λ1B1+?+λdBd) such that connecting operator has adjoint U which is isometric on a certain natural subspace (U is “weakly coisometric”) and has the additional property that the state operators A1,…,Ad pairwise commute; in this case one can take the state space to be the functional-model space H(KS) and the state operators A1,…,Ad to be given by (a de Branges-Rovnyak functional-model realization). We show that this special situation always occurs for the case of inner functions S (where the associated multiplication operator MS is a partial isometry), and that inner multipliers are characterized by the existence of such a realization such that the state operators A1,…,Ad satisfy an additional stability property.  相似文献

Let B(H) denote the algebra of operators on an infinite dimensional complex Hilbert space H, and let AB(K) denote the Berberian extension of an operator AB(H). It is proved that the set theoretic function σ, the spectrum, is continuous on the set C(i)⊂B(Hi) of operators A for which σ(A)={0} implies A is nilpotent (possibly, the 0 operator) and at every non-zero λσp(A) for some operators X and B such that λσp(B) and σ(A)={λ}∪σ(B). If CS(m) denotes the set of upper triangular operator matrices , where AiiC(i) and Aii has SVEP for all 1?i?m, then σ is continuous on CS(m). It is observed that a considerably large number of the more commonly considered classes of Hilbert space operators constitute sets C(i) and have SVEP.  相似文献
