This paper considers the scenario of supply chain with multiple products and multiple suppliers, all of which have limited capacity. We assume that received items from suppliers are not of perfect quality. Items of imperfect quality, not necessarily defective, could be used in another inventory situation. Imperfect items are sold as a single batch, prior to receiving the next shipment, at a discounted price. The demand over a finite planning horizon is known, and an optimal procurement strategy for this multi-period horizon is to be determined. Each of products can be sourced from a set of approved suppliers, a supplier-dependent transaction cost applies for each period in which an order is placed on a supplier. A product-dependent holding cost per period applies for each product in the inventory that is carried across a period in the planning horizon. Also a maximum storage space for the buyer in each period is considered. The decision maker, the buyer, needs to decide what products to order, in what quantities, with which suppliers, and in which periods. Finally, a genetic algorithm (GA) is used to solve the model.  相似文献

This article is concerned with determining the production–shipment policy for an economic production quantity model with quality assurance and an improved delivery schedule. We extend a recent work by Chiu et al. [Y.-S.P. Chiu, C.-A.K. Lin, H.-H. Chang, and V. Chiu, Mathematical modeling for determining economic batch size and optimal number of deliveries for EPQ model with quality assurance, Math. Comput. Model. Dyn. Sys. 16 (4) (2010), pp. 373–388] by incorporating an alternative delivery plan that aims at lowering the inventory holding cost for both supplier and buyer in such an integrated inventory system. Mathematical modelling along with Hessian matrix equations is used, and as a result the optimal production batch size and optimal number of deliveries are derived. A numerical example is provided to demonstrate the practical use of the results and the significant savings in stock holding costs for both vendor and buyer.  相似文献

Quantity discounts provide a practical foundation for inventory coordination in supply chains. However, typical supply chain participants may encounter difficulties in implementing the coordination policy simply because (1) specified lot size adjustments may deviate from the economic lot sizes and (2) the buying firm may face amplified overstocking risks related to increased order quantities. The main objective of this study is to develop a quantity discount model that resolves the practical challenges associated with implementing quantity discount policies for supply chain coordination between a supplier and a buyer. The proposed Buyer’s Risk Adjustment (B-RA) model allows the supplier to offer discounts that capitalize on the original economic lot sizes and share the buyer’s risk of temporary overstocking under uncertain demand. The analytical results suggest that the proposed B-RA discount approach is a feasible alternative for supply chain coordination under uncertain demand conditions.  相似文献

In traditional inventory models, it is implicitly assumed that the buyer must pay for the purchased items as soon as they have been received. However, in many practical situations, the vendor is willing to provide the buyer with a permissible delay period when the buyer’s order quantity exceeds a given threshold. Therefore, to incorporate the concept of vendor–buyer integration and order-size-dependent trade credit, we present a stylized model to determine the optimal strategy for an integrated vendor–buyer inventory system under the condition of trade credit linked to the order quantity, where the demand rate is considered to be a decreasing function of the retail price. By analyzing the total channel profit function, we developed some useful results to characterize the optimal solution and provide an iterative algorithm to find the retail price, buyer’s order quantity, and the numbers of shipment per production run from the vendor to the buyer. Numerical examples and sensitivity analysis are given to illustrate the theoretical results, and some managerial insights are also obtained.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze the impact of supplier pricing schemes and supplier capacity limitations on the optimal sourcing policy for a single firm. We consider the situation where the total quantity to be procured for a single period is known by the firm and communicated to the supplier set. In response to this communication, each supplier quotes a price and a capacity limit in terms of a maximum quantity that can be supplied to the buyer. Based on this information, the buyer makes a quantity allocation decision among the suppliers and corresponding to this decision is the choice of a subset of suppliers who will receive an order. Based on industry observations, a variety of supplier pricing schemes from the constituent group of suppliers are analyzed, including linear discounts, incremental units discounts, and all units discounts. Given the complexity of the optimization problem for certain types of pricing schemes, heuristic solution methodologies are developed to identify a quantity allocation decision for the firm. Through an extensive computational comparison, we find that these heuristics generate near-optimal solutions very quickly. Data from a major office products retailer is used to illustrate the resulting sourcing strategies given different pricing schemes and capacity limitations of suppliers in this industry. We find for the case of capacity constrained suppliers, the optimal quantity allocations for two complex pricing schemes (linear discount, and incremental units discount) are such that at most one selected supplier will receive an order quantity that is less than its capacity.  相似文献

This paper explores the coordination between a supplier and a buyer within a decentralized supply chain, through the use of quantity discounts in a game theoretic model. Within this model, the players face inventory and pricing decisions. We propose both cooperative and non-cooperative approaches considering that the product traded experiences a price sensitive demand. In the first case, we study the dynamics of the game from the supplier's side as the leader in the negotiation obtaining a Stackelberg equilibrium, and then show how the payoff of this player could still improve from this point. In the second case, a cooperative model is formulated, where decisions are taken simultaneously, emulating a centralized firm, showing the benefits of the cooperation between the players. We further formulate a pricing game, where the buyer is allowed to set different prices to the final customer as a reaction to the supplier's discount decisions. For the latter we investigate the difference between feasibility of implementing a retail discount given a current coordination mechanism and without it. Finally the implications of transportation costs are analyzed in the quantity discount schedule. Our findings are illustrated with a numerical example showing the difference in the players’ payoff in each case and the optimal strategies, comparing in each case our results with existing work.  相似文献

Within the economic order quantity (EOQ) framework, the main purpose of this paper is to investigate the retailer’s optimal replenishment policy under permissible delay in payments. All previously published articles dealing with optimal order quantity with permissible delay in payments assumed that the supplier only offers the retailer fully permissible delay in payments if the retailer ordered a sufficient quantity. Otherwise, permissible delay in payments would not be permitted. However, in this paper, we want to extend this extreme case by assuming that the supplier would offer the retailer partially permissible delay in payments when the order quantity is smaller than a predetermined quantity. Under this condition, we model the retailer’s inventory system as a cost minimization problem to determine the retailer’s optimal inventory cycle time and optimal order quantity. Three theorems are established to describe the optimal replenishment policy for the retailer. Some previously published results of other researchers can be deduced as special cases. Finally, numerical examples are given to illustrate all these theorems and to draw managerial insights.  相似文献

Lin [T.Y. Lin, An economic order quantity with imperfect quality and quantity discounts, Appl. Math. Model. 34 (10) (2010) 3158–3165] recently proposed an EOQ model with imperfect quality and quantity discounts, where the lot-splitting shipments policy is adopted. In this note we first rectify the holding cost terms showed in Lin to obtain a new objective function, then resolve the problem and develop an easy to implement algorithm to find the overall optimal solutions for the model. Besides, we present a new model for items with imperfect quality, where lot-splitting shipments and different holding costs for good and defective items are considered. The closed-form formulas for determining the optimal ordering and shipping policies are derived. Also, the results are examined analytically and numerically to gain more insights of the solutions.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop an inventory model for determining the optimal ordering policies for a buyer who operates an inventory policy based on an EOQ-type model with planned backorders when the supplier offers a temporary fixed-percentage discount and has specified a minimum quantity of additional units to purchase. A distinguishing feature of the model is that both fixed and linear backorder costs are included, whereas previous works include only the linear backordering cost. A numerical study is performed to provide insight into the behavior of the model.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop integrated inventory inspection models with and without replacement of nonconforming items. Inspection policies include no inspection, sampling inspection, and 100% inspection. We consider a buyer who places an order from a supplier when his inventory level drops to a certain point, due to demand which is stochastic in nature. When a lot is received, the buyer uses some type of inspection policy. The fraction nonconforming is assumed to be a random variable following a beta distribution. The order quantity, reorder point and the inspection policy are decision variables. In the inspection policy involving determining sampling plan parameters, constraints on the buyer and manufacturer risks is set in order to obtain a fair plan for both parties. A solution procedure for determining the operating policies for inventory and inspection consisting of order quantity, sample size, and acceptance number is proposed. Numerical examples are presented to conduct a sensitivity analysis for important model parameters and to illustrate important issues about the developed models.  相似文献

Quantity discounts are a useful mechanism for coordination. Here we investigate such discounts from the supplier's perspective, both from a non-cooperative game-theoretical approach and a joint decision model. Taking into account the price elasticity of demand, this analysis aids a sole supplier in establishing an all-unit quantity discount policy in light of the buyer's best reaction. The Stackelberg equilibrium and Pareto optimal solution set are derived for the non-cooperative and joint-decision cases, respectively. Our research indicates that channel efficiency can be improved significantly if the quantity discount decision is made jointly rather than non-cooperatively. Moreover, we extend our model in three directions: (1) the product is transported by a private fleet; (2) the buyer may choose to offer her customers a different percentage discount than that she obtained from the supplier; and (3) the case of heterogeneous buyers. Numerical case studies are employed throughout the paper to illustrate the practical applications of the models presented and the sensitivity to model parameters.  相似文献

供应商掺假行为会影响产品最终的质量与安全。本文研究由一个供应商和一个买方组成的分散式供应链,建立以买方为领导者的Stackelberg博弈模型,比较研究延期付款机制、检查机制与溯源机制对供应商掺假行为的影响。研究表明,检查机制与溯源机制无法完全阻止供应商的掺假行为,而延期付款机制可以实现对供应商掺假行为的完全遏制,其中生产掺假产品与非掺假产品的成本差是影响三种机制效率的重要因素。此外,增加买方产品责任成本可以有效降低供应商的掺假意愿,而供应商与买方的融资利率差会增加为防止供应商掺假行为的供应链成本,通过降低检查成本与溯源成本可以促使买方更好地遏制供应商的掺假行为。最后给出算例验证了上述结论,并进一步分析了各机制中不同参数对最优决策和利润的影响。  相似文献

Quantity discount has been a subject of study for a long time; however, little is known about its effect on integrated inventory models when price-sensitive demand is placed. The objective of this study is to find the optimal pricing and ordering strategies for an integrated inventory system when a quantity discount policy is applied. The pricing strategy discussed here is one in which the vendor offers a quantity discount to the buyer. Then, the buyer will adjust his retail price based on the purchasing cost, which will influence the customer demand as a result. Consequently, an integrated inventory model is established to find the optimal solutions for order quantity, retail price, and the number of shipments from vendor to buyer in one production run, so that the joint total profit incurred has the maximum value. Also, numerical examples and a sensitivity analysis are given to illustrate the results of the model.  相似文献

In the classical inventory economic order quantity (or EOQ) model, it was assumed that the purchaser must pay for the items received immediately. However, in practices, the supplier usually is willing to provide the purchaser a permissible delay of payments if the purchaser orders a large quantity. As a result, in this paper, we establish an EOQ model for deteriorating items, in which the supplier provides a permissible delay to the purchaser if the order quantity is greater than or equal to a predetermined quantity. We then characterize the optimal solution and provide an easy-to-use algorithm to find the optimal order quantity and replenishment time. In this paper we address a buyer–supplier arrangement of particular importance: total order quantity commitment (TOQC). Under the TOQC contract that has been negotiated between the buyer and the supplier, the former agrees to an obligation to procure a certain quantity of an item from the latter over the predetermined period of time (additional quantity can be obtained maybe at a different price). The optimal inventory replenishment policy is shown to be dual order-up-to levels under a given TOQC, and the optimal TOQC is also demonstrated to be mathematically straightforward to obtain.  相似文献

Most researchers established their inventory lot-size models under trade credit financing by assuming that the supplier offers the retailer fully permissible delay in payments and the products received are all non-defective. However, in the real business environment, it often can be observed that the supplier offers the retailer a fully permissible delay in payments only when the order quantity is greater than or equal to the predetermined quantity Q d . In addition, an arriving order lot usually contains some defective items due to imperfect production processes or other factors. To capture this reality, the paper extends Huang (2007) economic order quantity (EOQ) model with partially permissible delay in payments to consider defective items. We formulate the proposed problem as a profit maximization EOQ model in which the replenishment cycle time is the decision variable. Then we use the arithmetic-geometric mean inequality approach to determine the optimal solution under various situations. An algorithm to obtain the optimal solution is also provided. Finally, the numerical examples and sensitivity analysis are given to illustrate the results.  相似文献

In this paper, an integrated inventory model for a supply chain comprising of single buyer and single supplier is studied when demand is stock-dependent and units in inventory deteriorate at a constant rate. The total cost of the integrated system consists of the transportation cost, inspection cost and the cost of less flexibility under the assumption of JIT deliveries. The total integrated cost of single-supplier and single-buyer is minimized with respect to number of inspections and deliveries, the cycle time of deliveries and the delivery size for the replenishment time. A numerical example is given to validate the model. The sensitivity analysis carried out suggests that the unit inspection cost, deterioration rate of units in inventory and stock-dependent parameter are the critical factors.  相似文献

This paper explores a class of supply contracts under which a buyer receives discounts for committing to purchases in advance. The further in advance the commitment is made, the larger the discount. As time rolls forward, the buyer can increase the order quantities for future periods of the rolling horizon based on updated demand forecast information and inventory status. However, the buyer pays a higher per-unit cost for the incremental units. Such contracts are used by automobile and contract manufacturers, and are quite common in fuel oil and natural gas delivery markets. We develop a finite-horizon dynamic programming model to characterize the structure of the optimal replenishment strategy for the buyer. We present heuristic approaches to calculate the order volume in each period of the rolling horizon. Finally, we numerically evaluate the heuristic approaches and draw some managerial insights based on the findings.  相似文献
