Kronecker–Halton sequences in Fp((X−1))

In this paper we investigate the distribution properties of hybrid sequences which are made by combining Halton sequences in the ring of polynomials and digital Kronecker sequences. We give a full criterion for the uniform distribution and prove results on the discrepancy of such hybrid sequences.     

Representation Theorems for the Sequences of the Classes CRc and ERc

We prove two representation theorems in the Bojanic–Seneta sense for the classes CR _c and ER _c of O-regularly varying sequences.     

Tangent cones and Dini derivatives

We prove a property of the Bouligand tangent cone to the epigraph (or to the graph) of a locally Lipschitz function. It is also shown how this result can be used in determining Dini sequences. Finally, some relationships between such a cone and Dini derivatives are provided.     

Statistical approximation to Bögel-type continuous and periodic functions

In this paper, considering A-statistical convergence instead of Pringsheim’s sense for double sequences, we prove a Korovkin-type approximation theorem for sequences of positive linear operators defined on the space of all real valued Bögel-type continuous and periodic functions on the whole real two-dimensional space. A strong application is also presented. Furthermore, we obtain some rates of A-statistical convergence in our approximation.     

On powers of the Catalan number sequence

The Catalan number sequence is one of the most famous number sequences in combinatorics and is well studied in the literature. In this paper we further investigate its fundamental properties related to the moment problem and prove for the first time that it is an infinitely divisible Stieltjes moment sequence in the sense of S.-G.  Tyan. Besides, any positive real power of the sequence is still a Stieltjes determinate sequence. Some more cases including (a) the central binomial coefficient sequence (related to the Catalan sequence), (b) a double factorial number sequence and (c) the generalized Catalan (or Fuss–Catalan) sequence are also investigated. Finally, we pose two conjectures including the determinacy equivalence between powers of nonnegative random variables and powers of their moment sequences, which is supported by some existing results.     

Magic determinants of Somos sequences and theta functions

By means of an almost trivial statement of matrix algebra, we prove two conjectures proposed by Gosper and Schroeppel [R.W. Gosper, R. Schroeppel, Somos sequence near-addition formulas and modular theta functions, arXiv:math.NT/0703470v1, 15 March 2007.] on near-addition formulas for 4- and 5-Somos sequences. A simplified proof for an elliptic analogue of this conjecture recently shown by Cooper and Toh in [S. Cooper, P.C. Toh, Determinant identities for theta functions, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 347 (2008) 1-7] is also presented.     

D-Gap Functions for Nonsmooth Variational Inequality Problems

We study the Clarke generalized gradient of the D-gap functions for the variational inequality problem (VIP) defined by a locally Lipschitz, but not necessarily differentiable, function in an Euclidean space. Using these results, we study the relationship between minimizing sequences and stationary sequences of the D-gap function, regardless of the existence of solutions of (VIP).     

Sigma function solution of the initial value problem for Somos 5 sequences

The Somos 5 sequences are a family of sequences defined by a fifth order bilinear recurrence relation with constant coefficients. For particular choices of coefficients and initial data, integer sequences arise. By making the connection with a second order nonlinear mapping with a first integral, we prove that the two subsequences of odd/even index terms each satisfy a Somos 4 (fourth order) recurrence. This leads directly to the explicit solution of the initial value problem for the Somos 5 sequences in terms of the Weierstrass sigma function for an associated elliptic curve.

Spectral Convergence for Degenerating Sequences of Three Dimensional Hyperbolic Manifolds

For degenerating sequences of three dimensional hyperbolic manifolds of finite volume, we prove convergence of their eigenfunctions, heat kernel and spectral measure.

     

L p-discrepancy and statistical independence of sequences

We characterize statistical independence of sequences by the L ^p-discrepancy and the Wiener L ^p-discrepancy. Furthermore, we find asymptotic information on the distribution of the L ²-discrepancy of sequences     

On double vector bundles

In this paper, we construct a category of short exact sequences of vector bundles and prove that it is equivalent to the category of double vector bundles. Moreover, operations on double vector bundles can be transferred to operations on the corresponding short exact sequences. In particular, we study the duality theory of double vector bundles in term of the corresponding short exact sequences. Examples including the jet bundle and the Atiyah algebroid are discussed.     

On the family of meromorphic functions whose derivatives omit a holomorphic function

In this paper,we continue to study the normality of a family of meromorphic functions without simple zeros and simple poles such that their derivatives omit a given holomorphic function.Such a family in general is not normal at the zeros of the omitted function.Our main result is the characterization of the non-normal sequences,and hence some known results are its corollaries.     

Minimum Eulerian circuits and minimum de Bruijn sequences

Given a digraph (directed graph) with a labeling on its arcs, we study the problem of finding the Eulerian circuit of lexicographically minimum label. We prove that this problem is NP-complete in general, but if the labelling is locally injective (arcs going out from each vertex have different labels), we prove that it is solvable in linear time by giving an algorithm that constructs this circuit. When this algorithm is applied to a de Bruijn graph, it obtains the de Bruijn sequences with lexicographically minimum label.     

Note on Periodic Complementary Sets of Binary Sequences

Denote by $PCS_p^n $ resp. $ACS_p^n $ thecollection consisting of ordered p-tuples of binary sequences(i.e., sequences whose elements are $ \pm 1$ ), each having length n, such that the sum of their periodic resp. aperiodicauto-correlation functions is a delta function. We fill many open cases inthe Bömer and Antweiler diagram [3] of the known cases where $PCS_p^n $ exist for $p \leqslant 12$ and $n \leqslant 50$ . In particular we show that $PCS_2^{34} $ exist, whileit is well known [1] that $ACS_2^{34} $ do not.

A Critical Branching Process with Stationary-Limiting Distribution

Abstract

Seneta (Seneta, E. The stationary distribution of a branching process allowing immigration: A remark on the critical case. J. Royal Statistical Society, Series B 1968, 30, 176–179) shows that a critical branching process with pure immigration has a stationary-limiting distribution provided that its offspring variance is infinite. We obtain a stationary-limiting distribution keeping the variance finite but allowing an emigration–immigration component in each generation.

M序列是一类最长的非线性伪随机序列．本文研究了在F2＋vF2上生成M序列的非奇异反馈函数f（x1，X2，…，xn）所具有的3条性质：1）Rf≠f；2）Djf为互不相同的生成M序列的非奇异反馈函数（j=1，v，1＋v）；3）在f的多项式表达式中，常数项j。一定不为0；若线性项x2，x3，…，xn全出现，则它们的系数不能全为1或j。
