We consider sequences of polynomials of hypergeometric type satisfying a three-term recurrence relation with constant coefficients and general initial conditions. We characterize among these the Chebyshev and Fibonacci polynomials. Furthermore, we show some necessary conditions and links between the coefficients of the recurrence relation and initial conditions, and the coefficients of the hypergeometric type differential equation in order that this is satisfied by a sequence of polynomials.  相似文献

We study sequences of empirical measures of Euler schemes associated to some non-Markovian SDEs: SDEs driven by Gaussian processes with stationary increments. We obtain the functional convergence of this sequence to a stationary solution to the SDE. Then, we end the paper by some specific properties of this stationary solution. We show that, in contrast to Markovian SDEs, its initial random value and the driving Gaussian process are always dependent. However, under an integral representation assumption, we also obtain that the past of the solution is independent of the future of the underlying innovation process of the Gaussian driving process.  相似文献

This paper studies how to set the vehicle capacity for traveling Salesman Problems where some of the customer demands are stochastic. The analyses are done for the one-commodity pickup-and-delivery TSP, as this problem also includes the setting of the initial load. The paper first considers feasibility issues. This includes finding the smallest vehicle capacity and some initial load such that a given tour is feasible for all scenarios. Different variants are considered as a function of the time when information becomes available. The paper then analyzes the case where some penalties are paid for routing a tour unable to handle customer demands. Various types of penalties are considered. The paper studies properties of the minimal expected penalty of a given tour, which are then used to provide approaches to find near-optimal tours. Computational results are presented.  相似文献

In this note we study the convergence in the limit of small Ekman and Rossby numbers of the magnetohydrodynamics equations relevant to describe the flow in the Earth core. In particular, we prove the nonlinear stability of Ekman-Hartmann type boundary layers in a spherical geometry for some class of well-prepared initial data.  相似文献

A semi-linear second-order stochastic parabolic equation is considered with coefficients, free terms, and initial condition depending on a parameter. It is shown that under some natural conditions the solution can be written as a power series in the parameter. The equations for the coefficients in the power series expansion are derived and the convergence of the power series is studied. We prove the local existence and uniqueness of the strong solutions for a class of full non-Newtonian fluids in one space dimension with the hypotheses that the initial data are small in some sense and satisfy some compatibility conditions. In this paper we study some problems concerning bigraded ideals. By introducing the concept of bigeneric initial ideal, we answer an open question about diagonal subalgebras and we give a necessary condition for a function to be the bigraded Hilbert function of a bigraded algebra. In the paper we study the topological structure of the solution set of a class of nonlinear evolution inclusions. First we show that it is nonempty and compact in certain function spaces and that it depends in an upper semicontinuous way on the initial condition. Then by strengthening the hypothesis on the orientor field F(t, x), we are able to show that the solution set is in fact an R -set. Finally some applications to infinite dimensional control systems are also presented.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss two challenges of long term facility location problem that occur simultaneously; future demand change and uncertain number of future facilities. We introduce a mathematical model that minimizes the initial and expected future weighted travel distance of customers. Our model allows relocation for the future instances by closing some of the facilities that were located initially and opening new ones, without exceeding a given budget. We present an integer programming formulation of the problem and develop a decomposition algorithm that can produce near optimal solutions in a fast manner. We compare the performance of our mathematical model against another method adapted from the literature and perform sensitivity analysis. We present numerical results that compare the performance of the proposed decomposition algorithm against the exact algorithm for the problem.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to prove the well-posedness (existence and uniqueness) of the Lp entropy solution to the homogeneous Dirichlet problems for the anisotropic degenerate parabolic-hyperbolic equations with Lp initial value. We use the device of doubling variables and some technical analysis to prove the uniqueness result. Moreover we can prove that the Lp entropy solution can be obtained as the limit of solutions of the corresponding regularized equations of nondegenerate parabolic type.  相似文献

Many graph theoretic algorithms rely on an initial ordering of the vertices of the graph which has some special properties. We discuss new ways to measure the quality of such orders, give methods for constructing high quality orders, and provide applications for these orders. While our main motivation is the study of game chromatic number, there have been other applications of these ideas and we expect there will be more. The subject matter of this paper is an initial-value problem with an initial function for a linear differential difference equation of neutral type. The problem is to find an initial function such that the solution generated by this function has some given smoothness at the points multiple of the delay. The problem is solved using a method of polynomial quasisolutions, which is based on a representation of the unknown function in the form of a polynomial of some degree. Substituting this into the initial problem yields some incorrectness in the sense of degree of polynomials, which is compensated for by introducing some residual into the equation. For this residual, an exact analytical formula as a measure of disturbance of the initial-value problem is obtained. It is shown that if a polynomial quasisolution of degree N is chosen as an initial function for the initial-value problem in question, the solution generated will have smoothness not lower than N at the abutment points.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a nonlinear viscoelastic inverse problem with memory in the boundary. Under some suitable conditions on the coefficients, relaxation function, and initial data, we proved stability of solutions when the integral overdetermination tends to zero as time goes to infinity. In this paper we give a characterization of the notion of entropy solutions of some flux limited diffusion equations for which we can prove that the solution is a function of bounded variation in space and time. This includes the case of the so-called relativistic heat equation and some generalizations. For them we prove that the jump set consists of fronts that propagate at the speed given by Rankine-Hugoniot condition and we give on it a geometric characterization of the entropy conditions. Since entropy solutions are functions of bounded variation in space once the initial condition is, to complete the program we study the time regularity of solutions of the relativistic heat equation under some conditions on the initial datum. An analogous result holds for some other related equations without additional assumptions on the initial condition.  相似文献
