A problem of D.H. Lehmer and its mean square value formula

On the Number of Sparse RSA Exponents

An RSA modulus is a product M=pl of two primes p and l. We show that for almost all RSA moduli M, the number of sparse exponents e (which allow for fast RSA encryption) with the property that gcd(e,?(M))=1 (hence RSA decryption can also be performed) is very close to the expected value.     

On degree sum conditions for long cycles and cycles through specified vertices

Let G be a graph. For S⊂V(G), let Δ_k(S) denote the maximum value of the degree sums of the subsets of S of order k. In this paper, we prove the following two results. (1) Let G be a 2-connected graph. If Δ₂(S)≥d for every independent set S of order κ(G)+1, then G has a cycle of length at least min{d,|V(G)|}. (2) Let G be a 2-connected graph and X a subset of V(G). If Δ₂(S)≥|V(G)| for every independent set S of order κ(X)+1 in G[X], then G has a cycle that includes every vertex of X. This suggests that the degree sum of nonadjacent two vertices is important for guaranteeing the existence of these cycles.

On the order of the high-dimensional Cochrane sum and its mean value

The main purpose of this paper is to study the high-dimensional Cochrane sum and give a sharp estimate of its order by using properties of hyper-Kloosterman sum and the mean value theorems of Dirichlet L-functions.

Laced Boolean functions and subset sum problems in finite fields

In this paper, we investigate some algebraic and combinatorial properties of a special Boolean function on n variables, defined using weighted sums in the residue ring modulo the least prime p≥n. We also give further evidence relating to a question raised by Shparlinski regarding this function, by computing accurately the Boolean sensitivity, thus settling the question for prime number values p=n. Finally, we propose a generalization of these functions, which we call laced functions, and compute the weight of one such, for every value of n.     

Divisibility properties of classical binary Kloosterman sums

Let K(a) be the so-called classical Kloosterman sum over . In this paper, we compute K(a) modulo 24 for even m, completing our previous results for odd m. We extensively study the links between K(a) and other exponential sums, especially the cubic sums. We point out (as we did for odd m) that the values K(a) are involved in the computation of the weight distributions of cosets of primitive narrow sense extended BCH codes of length 2^m and minimum distance 8. We also complete some recent results on K(a)−1 modulo 3.     

Mean Value of Kloosterman Sums over Short Intervals

This paper is concerned with a kind of mean value problem of Kloosterman sums, which will lead to a sum of Kloosterman sums over short intervals.
