Best constants in the Hardy-Rellich inequalities and related improvements   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We consider Hardy-Rellich inequalities and discuss their possible improvement. The procedure is based on decomposition into spherical harmonics, where in addition various new inequalities are obtained (e.g. Rellich-Sobolev inequalities). We discuss also the optimality of these inequalities in the sense that we establish (in most cases) that the constants appearing there are the best ones. Next, we investigate the polyharmonic operator (Rellich and higher order Rellich inequalities); the difficulties arising in this case come from the fact that (generally) minimizing sequences are no longer expected to consist of radial functions. Finally, the successively use of the Rellich inequalities lead to various new higher order Rellich inequalities.  相似文献

New affine invariant functionals for convex polytopes are introduced. Some sharp affine isoperimetric inequalities are established for the new functionals. These new inequalities lead to fairly strong volume estimates for projection bodies. Two of the new affine isoperimetric inequalities are extensions of Ball's reverse isoperimetric inequalities.

Solving multicommodity capacitated network design problems is a hard task that requires the use of several strategies like relaxing some constraints and strengthening the model with valid inequalities. In this paper, we compare three sets of inequalities that have been widely used in this context: Benders, metric and cutset inequalities. We show that Benders inequalities associated to extreme rays are metric inequalities. We also show how to strengthen Benders inequalities associated to non-extreme rays to obtain metric inequalities. We show that cutset inequalities are Benders inequalities, but not necessarily metric inequalities. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for a cutset inequality to be a metric inequality. Computational experiments show the effectiveness of strengthening Benders and cutset inequalities to obtain metric inequalities.  相似文献

We extend the Novikov Morse-type inequalities for closed 1-forms in 2 directions. First, we consider manifolds with boundary. Second, we allow a very degenerate structure of the critical set of the form, assuming only that the form is non-degenerated in the sense of Kirwan. In particular, we obtain a generalization of a result of Floer about the usual Morse inequalities on a manifold with boundary. We also obtain an equivariant version of our inequalities.

Our proof is based on an application of the Witten deformation technique. The main novelty here is that we consider the neighborhood of the critical set as a manifold with a cylindrical end. This leads to a considerable simplification of the local analysis. In particular, we obtain a new analytic proof of the Morse-Bott inequalities on a closed manifold.

Using isoperimetry and symmetrization we provide a unified framework to study the classical and logarithmic Sobolev inequalities. In particular, we obtain new Gaussian symmetrization inequalities and connect them with logarithmic Sobolev inequalities. In this paper, we introduce weighted variational inequalities over product of sets and system of weighted variational inequalities. It is noted that the weighted variational inequality problem over product of sets and the problem of system of weighted variational inequalities are equivalent. We give a relationship between system of weighted variational inequalities and systems of vector variational inequalities. We define several kinds of weighted monotonicities and establish several existence results for the solution of the above-mentioned problems under these weighted monotonicities. We introduce also the weighted generalized variational inequalities over product of sets, that is, weighted variational inequalities for multivalued maps and systems of weighted generalized variational inequalities. Extensions of weighted monotonicities for multivalued maps are also considered. The existence of a solution of weighted generalized variational inequalities over product of sets is also studied. The existence results for a solution of weighted generalized variational inequality problem give also the existence of solutions of systems of generalized vector variational inequalities. A system of linear inequalities subject to nonnegativity restrictions is considered. General criteria which are necessary and sufficient for a linear inequality to be redundant are derived. This general characterization provides a basis for unifying some of the existing techniques. After taking into consideration the existence of redundant linear inequalities, general necessary and sufficient criteria for a linear inequality to be nonredundant are also obtained. In this paper we introduce and study a weakened form of logarithmic Sobolev inequalities in connection with various others functional inequalities (weak Poincaré inequalities, general Beckner inequalities, etc.). We also discuss the quantitative behaviour of relative entropy along a symmetric diffusion semi-group. In particular, we exhibit an example where Poincaré inequality can not be used for deriving entropic convergence whence weak logarithmic Sobolev inequality ensures the result.   相似文献

A new notion of partition‐determined functions is introduced, and several basic inequalities are developed for the entropies of such functions of independent random variables, as well as for cardinalities of compound sets obtained using these functions. Here a compound set means a set obtained by varying each argument of a function of several variables over a set associated with that argument, where all the sets are subsets of an appropriate algebraic structure so that the function is well defined. On the one hand, the entropy inequalities developed for partition‐determined functions imply entropic analogues of general inequalities of Plünnecke‐Ruzsa type. On the other hand, the cardinality inequalities developed for compound sets imply several inequalities for sumsets, including for instance a generalization of inequalities proved by Gyarmati, Matolcsi and Ruzsa (2010). We also provide partial progress towards a conjecture of Ruzsa (2007) for sumsets in nonabelian groups. We give a new diagram about uniform decay, empty essential spectrum and various functional inequalities, including Poincaré inequalities, super- and weak-Poincaré inequalities, for transient birth-death processes. This diagram is completely opposite to that in ergodic situation, and substantially points out the difference between transient birth-death processes and recurrent ones. The criterion for the empty essential spectrum is achieved. Some matching sufficient and necessary conditions for weak-Poincaré inequalities and super-Poincaré inequalities are also presented.  相似文献

In this article, motivated by a work of Caffarelli and Cordoba in phase transitions analysis, we prove new weighted anisotropic Sobolev type inequalities where different derivatives have different weight functions. These inequalities are also intimately connected to weighted Sobolev inequalities for Grushin type operators, the weights being not necessarily Muckenhoupt. For example we consider Sobolev inequalities on finite cylinders, the weight being a power of the distance function from the top or the bottom of the cylinder. We also prove similar inequalities in the more general case in which the weight is a power of the distance function from a higher codimension part of the boundary.  相似文献

An ill-posed quasi-variational inequality with contaminated data can be stabilized by employing the elliptic regularization. Under suitable conditions, a sequence of bounded regularized solutions converges strongly to a solution of the original quasi-variational inequality. Moreover, the conditions that ensure the boundedness of regularized solutions, become sufficient solvability conditions. It turns out that the regularization theory is quite strong for quasi-variational inequalities with set-valued monotone maps but restrictive for generalized pseudo-monotone maps. The results are quite general and are applicable to ill-posed variational inequalities, hemi-variational inequalities, inverse problems, and split feasibility problem, among others.  相似文献

The aim of the present paper is to give a new kind of point of view in the theory of variational inequalities. Our approach makes possible the study of both scalar and vector variational inequalities under a great variety of assumptions. In this paper, we study Wasserstein-Divergence transportation inequalities which are the generalization of classical transportation inequalities. We present sufficient and necessary conditions for them separately, which coincide in the limit case. Using this kind of inequalities, we establish polynomial concentration inequalities for probability measures with no exponential moments.  相似文献

A system of linear inhomogeneous inequalities is examined. An algorithm is presented for isolating all the consistent subsystems in this system that are maximal with respect to inclusion, and justification of this algorithm is given.
