We give two applications of logarithmic Sobolev inequalities to matrix models and free probability. We also provide a new characterization of semi-circular systems through a Poincare-type inequality.  相似文献

In this paper,we study some functional inequalities(such as Poincaré inequality, logarithmic Sobolev inequality, generalized Cheeger isoperimetric inequality,transportation-information inequality and transportation-entropy inequality) for reversible nearest-neighbor Markov processes on connected finite graphs by means of(random) path method. We provide estimates of the involved constants.  相似文献

Summary. We present a simple proof, based on modified logarithmic Sobolev inequalities, of Talagrand’s concentration inequality for the exponential distribution. We actually observe that every measure satisfying a Poincaré inequality shares the same concentration phenomenon. We also discuss exponential integrability under Poincaré inequalities and its consequence to sharp diameter upper bounds on spectral gaps. In present work, we first establish the corresponding Sobolev inequality and Poincaré inequality on the cone Sobolev spaces, and then, as an application of such inequalities, we prove the existence of non-trivial weak solution for Dirichlet boundary value problem for a class of non-linear elliptic equation on manifolds with conical singularities.  相似文献

Perturbations of functional inequalities are studied by using merely growth conditions in terms of a distance-like reference function. As a result, optimal sufficient conditions are obtained for perturbations to reach a class of functional inequalities interpolating between the Poincaré inequality and the logarithmic Sobolev inequality.  相似文献

We present a class of modified logarithmic Sobolev inequality, interpolating between Poincaré and logarithmic Sobolev inequalities, suitable for measures of the type exp (−|x|α) or exp (−|x|α log β(2+|x|)) (α ∈]1,2[ and β ∈ ℝ) which lead to new concentration inequalities. These modified inequalities share common properties with usual logarithmic Sobolev inequalities, as tensorisation or perturbation, and imply as well Poincaré inequality. We also study the link between these new modified logarithmic Sobolev inequalities and transportation inequalities. Send offprint requests to: Ivan Gentil  相似文献

This Note is devoted to the proof of convex Sobolev (or generalized Poincaré) inequalities which interpolate between spectral gap (or Poincaré) inequalities and logarithmic Sobolev inequalities. We extend to the whole family of convex Sobolev inequalities results which have recently been obtained by Cattiaux, and Carlen and Loss for logarithmic Sobolev inequalities. Under local conditions on the density of the measure with respect to a reference measure, we prove that spectral gap inequalities imply all convex Sobolev inequalities including in the limit case corresponding to the logarithmic Sobolev inequalities. In this paper, we introduce weighted p-Sobolev spaces on manifolds with edge singularities. We give the proof for the corresponding edge type Sobolev inequality, Poincaré inequality and Hardy inequality. As an application of these inequalities, we prove the existence of nontrivial weak solutions for the Dirichlet problem of semilinear elliptic equations with singular potentials on manifolds with edge singularities.  相似文献

We generalize the Beckner’s type Poincaré inequality (Beckner, W. Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. (1989) 105:397–400) to a large class of probability measures on an abstract Wiener space of the form μ?ν, where μ is the reference Gaussian measure and ν is a probability measure satisfying a certain integrability condition. As the Beckner inequality interpolates between the Poincaré and logarithmic Sobolev inequalities, we utilize a family of products for functions which interpolates between the usual point-wise multiplication and the Wick product. Our approach is based on the positivity of a quadratic form involving Wick powers and integration with respect to those convolution measures. In addition, we prove that in the finite-dimensional case the class of densities of convolutions measures satisfies a point-wise covariance inequality.  相似文献

We continue our study of geometric analysis on (possibly non-reversible) Finsler manifolds, based on the Bochner inequality established by Ohta and Sturm. Following the approach of the \(\Gamma \)-calculus of Bakry et al (2014), we show the dimensional versions of the Poincaré–Lichnerowicz inequality, the logarithmic Sobolev inequality, and the Sobolev inequality. In the reversible case, these inequalities were obtained by Cavalletti and Mondino (2015) in the framework of curvature-dimension condition by means of the localization method. We show that the same (sharp) estimates hold also for non-reversible metrics.  相似文献

By means of the martingale representation, we establish a new modified logarithmic Sobolev inequality, which covers the previous modified logarithmic Sobolev inequalities of Bobkov-Ledoux and the L 1-logarithmic Sobolev inequality obtained in our previous work. From it we derive several sharp deviation inequalities of Talagrand's type, by following the powerful Herbst method developed recently by Ledoux and al. Moreover this new modified logarithmic Sobolev inequality is transported on the discontinuous path space with respect to the law of a Lévy process. Motivated from the study of logarithmic Sobolev, Nash and other functional inequalities, the variational formulas for Poincaré inequalities are extended to a large class of Banach (Orlicz) spaces of functions on the line. Explicit criteria for the inequalities to hold and explicit estimates for the optimal constants in the inequalities are presented. As a typical application, the logarithmic Sobolev constant is carefully examinated. Received December 13, 2001, Accepted March 26, 2002  相似文献

By using the Mecke identity, we study a class of birth-death type Dirichlet forms associated with the mixed Poisson measure. Both Poincar and weak Poincar inequalities are established, while another Poincar type inequality is disproved under some reasonable assumptions.  相似文献

We describe recent results on attainability of sharp constants in the Sobolev inequality, the Sobolev–Poincaré inequality, the Hardy–Sobolev inequality and related inequalities. This gives us the solvability of boundary value problems to critical Emden–Fowler equations.   相似文献

We give a functional version of the affine isoperimetric inequality for log-concave functions which may be interpreted as an inverse form of a logarithmic Sobolev inequality for entropy. A linearization of this inequality gives an inverse inequality to the Poincaré inequality for the Gaussian measure.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the Hodge Laplacian on differential k-forms over smooth open manifolds MN, not necessarily compact. We find sufficient conditions under which the existence of a family of logarithmic Sobolev inequalities for the Hodge Laplacian is equivalent to the ultracontractivity of its heat operator. We will also show how to obtain a logarithmic Sobolev inequality for the Hodge Laplacian when there exists one for the Laplacian on functions. In the particular case of Ricci curvature bounded below, we use the Gaussian type bound for the heat kernel of the Laplacian on functions in order to obtain a similar Gaussian type bound for the heat kernel of the Hodge Laplacian. This is done via logarithmic Sobolev inequalities and under the additional assumption that the volume of balls of radius one is uniformly bounded below.  相似文献

Using isoperimetry and symmetrization we provide a unified framework to study the classical and logarithmic Sobolev inequalities. In particular, we obtain new Gaussian symmetrization inequalities and connect them with logarithmic Sobolev inequalities. Our methods are very general and can be easily adapted to more general contexts.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to various considerations on a family of sharp interpolation inequalities on the sphere, which in dimension greater than 1 interpolate between Poincaré, logarithmic Sobolev and critical Sobolev (Onofri in dimension two) inequalities. The connection between optimal constants and spectral properties of the Laplace-Beltrami operator on the sphere is emphasized. The authors address a series of related observations and give proofs based on symmetrization and the ultraspherical setting.  相似文献

We present a direct proof of the discrete Poincaré–Friedrichs inequalities for a class of nonconforming approximations of the Sobolev space H 1(Ω), indicate optimal values of the constants in these inequalities, and extend the discrete Friedrichs inequality onto domains only bounded in one direction. We consider a polygonal domain Ω in two or three space dimensions and its shape-regular simplicial triangulation. The nonconforming approximations of H 1(Ω) consist of functions from H 1 on each element such that the mean values of their traces on interelement boundaries coincide. The key idea is to extend the proof of the discrete Poincaré–Friedrichs inequalities for piecewise constant functions used in the finite volume method. The results have applications in the analysis of nonconforming numerical methods, such as nonconforming finite element or discontinuous Galerkin methods.  相似文献
