On unbounded Bergman operators

This paper explores properties of the Bergman operator on unbounded open subsets of the plane. In addition to the characterization of the bounded commutant of such operators it proves the Berger-Shaw theorem and gives some general criteria under which the operator and its self-commutator are densely defined.     

The Density Problem for Self–Commutators of Unbounded Bergman Operators

We give two sufficient conditions for the self–commutator of an unbounded Bergman operator to be densely defined. In conjunction with known results this leads to a strong Berger–Shaw type theorem for unbounded Bergman operators. Finally we present results regarding the density problem for unbounded sets in the plane of infinite area.     

Some Selfadjoint 2$\times$2 Operator Matrices Associated with Closed Operators

We study a 22 operator matrix associated with a closed densely defined operator. Among others, the selfadjointness of a closed symmetric operator and the strong commutativity of two (unbounded) self-adjoint operators are characterized in terms of the related operator matrices. We propose a definition of strong commutativity for closed symmetric operators. Submitted: November 8, 2001

Form sums of nonnegative selfadjoint operators

Summary The sum of two unbounded nonnegative selfadjoint operators is a nonnegative operator which is not necessarily densely defined. In general its selfadjoint extensions exist in the sense of linear relations (multivalued operators). One of its nonnegative selfadjoint extensions is constructed via the form sum associated with A and B. Its relations to the Friedrichs and Krein--von Neumann extensions of A+Bare investigated. For this purpose, the one-to-one correspondence between densely defined closed semibounded forms and semibounded selfadjoint operators is extended to the case of nondensely defined semibounded forms by replacing semibounded selfadjoint operators by semibounded selfadjoint relations. In particular, the inequality between two closed nonnegative forms is shown to be equivalent to a similar inequality between the corresponding nonnegative selfadjoint relations.</o:p>     

On unbounded subnormal operators

A minimal normal extension of unbounded subnormal operators is established and characterized and spectral inclusion theorem is proved. An inverse Cayley transform is constructed to obtain a closed unbounded subnormal operator from a bounded one. Two classes of unbounded subnormals viz analytic Toeplitz operators and Bergman operators are exhibited.     

Iterative solution of linear equations with unbounded operators

A convergent iterative process is constructed for solving any solvable linear equation in a Hilbert space, including equations with unbounded, closed, densely defined linear operators. The method is proved to be stable towards small perturbation of the data. Some abstract results are established and used in an analysis of variational regularization method for equations with unbounded linear operators. The dynamical systems method (DSM) is justified for unbounded, closed, densely defined linear operators. The stopping time is chosen by a discrepancy principle. Equations with selfadjoint operators are considered separately. Numerical examples, illustrating the efficiency of the proposed method, are given.     

RELATIVE ESSENTIAL SPECTRA INVOLVING RELATIVE DEMICOMPACT UNBOUNDED LINEAR OPERATORS

In this article, we introduce the concept of demicompactness with respect to a closed densely defined linear operator, as a generalization of the class of demicompact operator introduced by Petryshyn in [24] and we establish some new results in Fredholm theory. Moreover, we apply the obtained results to discuss the incidence of some perturbation results on the behavior of relative essential spectra of unbounded linear operators acting on Banach spaces. We conclude by characterizations of the relative Schechter＇s and approximate essential spectrum.

On the Navier–Stokes equations with free convection in three‐dimensional unbounded triangular channels

The quaternionic calculus is a powerful tool for treating the Navier–Stokes equations very elegantly and in a compact form, through the evaluation of two types of integral operators: the Teodorescu operator and the quaternionic Bergman projector. While the integral kernel of the Teodorescu transform is universal for all domains, the kernel function of the Bergman projector, called the Bergman kernel, depends on the geometry of the domain. In this paper, we use special variants of quaternionic‐holomorphic multiperiodic functions in order to obtain explicit formulas for unbounded three‐dimensional parallel plate channels, rectangular block domains and regular triangular channels. In this paper, for an invariant subspace I of the weighted Bergman space, the weighted root operator is defined. We study the weighted root operator and obtain its fundamental properties when the invariant subspace I has finite index. Furthermore, we give some examples of the root operator and estimate ranks of the operators.

Positivity of Toeplitz operators on harmonic Bergman space

In this paper, we study positive Toeplitz operators on the harmonic Bergman space via their Berezin transforms. We consider the Toeplitz operators with continuous harmonic symbols on the closed disk and show that the Toeplitz operator is positive if and only if its Berezin transform is nonnegative on the disk. On the other hand, we construct a function such that the Toeplitz operator with this function as the symbol is not positive but its Berezin transform is positive on the disk. We also consider the harmonic Bergman space on the upper half plane and prove that in this case the positive Toeplitz operators with continuous integrable harmonic symbols must be the zero operator.     

WEAK REGULARIZATION FOR A CLASS OF ILL-POSED CAUCHY PROBLEMS

This article is concerned with the ill-posed Cauchy problem associated with a densely defined linear operator A in a Banach space. A family of weak regularizing operators is introduced. If the spectrum of A is contained in a sector of right-half complex plane and its resolvent is polynomially bounded, the weak regularization for such ill-posed Cauchy problem can be shown by using the quasi-reversibility method and regularized semigroups. Finally, an example is given.     

Perturbation of semi-Browder operators and stability of Browder's essential defect and approximate point spectrum

In the present paper we investigate the stability of closed densely defined semi-Browder operators under operator perturbations that belong to a perturbation class related to compact operators. Furthermore, we apply the obtained results to give a characterization and to study the stability of Browder's essential approximate point spectrum and Browder's essential defect spectrum.     

Weighted Composition Operators between Different Hardy Spaces

Let and be two analytic functions defined on such that. The operator given by is called a weighted composition operator. In this paper we deal with the boundedness, compactness, weak compactness, and complete continuity of weighted composition operators from a Hardy space H _p into another Hardy space H _q . We apply these results to study composition operators on Hardy spaces of a half-plane. Submitted: November 20, 2001.

A formula for gap between two closed operators

Aim of this short note is to obtain a formula for the gap between two densely defined unbounded closed operators. It is interesting to note that the formula is very similar to the corresponding formula for the gap between two bounded operators.
