In this paper, we propose a Laguerre spectral method for solving Neumann boundary value problems. This approach differs from the classical spectral method in that the homogeneous boundary condition is satisfied exactly. Moreover, a tridiagonal matrix is employed, instead of the full stiffness matrix encountered in the classical variational formulation of such problems. For analyzing the numerical errors, some basic results on Laguerre approximations are established. The convergence is proved. The numerical results demonstrate the efficiency of this approach.  相似文献

Li and Wang (Manuscr Math 122(1):73–95, 2007) presented Laguerre geometry for hypersurfaces in ${\mathbb{R}^{n}}$ and calculated the first variational formula of the Laguerre functional by using Laguerre invariants. In this paper we present the second variational formula for Laguerre minimal hypersurfaces. As an application of this variational formula we give the standard examples of Laguerre minimal hypersurfaces in ${\mathbb{R}^{n}}$ and show that they are stable Laguerre minimal hypersurfaces. Using this second variational formula we can prove that a surface with vanishing mean curvature in ${\mathbb{R}^{3}_{0}}$ is Laguerre equivalent to a stable Laguerre minimal surface in ${\mathbb{R}^{3}}$ under the Laguerre embedding. This example of stable Laguerre minimal surface in ${\mathbb{R}^{3}}$ is different from the one Palmer gave in (Rend Mat Appl 19(2):281–293, 1999).  相似文献

A fully diagonalized spectral method using generalized Laguerre functions is proposed and analyzed for solving elliptic equations on the half line. We first define the generalized Laguerre functions which are complete and mutually orthogonal with respect to an equivalent Sobolev inner product. Then the Fourier-like Sobolev orthogonal basis functions are constructed for the diagonalized Laguerre spectral method of elliptic equations. Besides, a unified orthogonal Laguerre projection is established for various elliptic equations. On the basis of this orthogonal Laguerre projection, we obtain optimal error estimates of the fully diagonalized Laguerre spectral method for both Dirichlet and Robin boundary value problems. Finally, numerical experiments, which are in agreement with the theoretical analysis, demonstrate the effectiveness and the spectral accuracy of our diagonalized method.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a composite Laguerre spectral method for the nonlinear Fokker–Planck equations modelling the relaxation of fermion and boson gases. A composite Laguerre spectral scheme is constructed. Its convergence is proved. Numerical results show the efficiency of this approach and coincide well with theoretical analysis. Some results on the Laguerre approximation and techniques used in this paper are also applicable to other nonlinear problems on the whole line. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper,we review some results on the spectral methods.We frst consider the Jacobi spectral method and the generalized Jacobi spectral method for various problems,including degenerated and singular diferential equations.Then we present the generalized Jacobi quasi-orthogonal approximation and its applications to the spectral element methods for high order problems with mixed inhomogeneous boundary conditions.We also discuss the related spectral methods for non-rectangular domains and the irrational spectral methods for unbounded domains.Next,we consider the Hermite spectral method and the generalized Hermite spectral method with their applications.Finally,we consider the Laguerre spectral method and the generalized Laguerre spectral method for many problems defned on unbounded domains.We also present the generalized Laguerre quasi-orthogonal approximation and its applications to certain problems of non-standard type and exterior problems.  相似文献

Spectral methods using generalized Laguerre functions are proposed for second-order equations under polar (resp. spherical) coordinates in ?2 (resp. ?3) and fourth-order equations on the half line. Some Fourier-like Sobolev orthogonal basis functions are constructed for our Laguerre spectral methods for elliptic problems. Optimal error estimates of the Laguerre spectral methods are obtained for both second-order and fourth-order elliptic equations. Numerical experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and the spectral accuracy.  相似文献

A new characterization of the Meixner polynomials is established. It is based on the solution of a problem related to a previous result concerning the Laguerre polynomials. Solutions of analogous problems provide characteristic properties of the Laguerre and Hermite polynomials. These properties, which are derived from the two-variable polynomials, generalize, in turn, the previous ones.  相似文献

In [1], Mikhailenko proposed a method of solving dynamic problems of elasticity theory. The method is based on the Laguerre transform with respect to time. In this paper, we propose a modification of this approach, applying the Laguerre transform to a sequence of finite time intervals. The solution obtained at the end of one time interval is used as initial data for solving the problem on the next time interval. To implement the approach, four parameters are chosen: a scale factor to approximate the solution by Laguerre functions, an exponential coefficient of a weight function that is used for finding a solution on a finite time interval, the duration of this interval, and the number of projections of the Laguerre transform. A way to find parameters that provide stability of calculations is proposed. The effect of the parameters on the accuracy of calculations when using second- and fourth-order difference schemes is studied. It is shown that the approach makes it possible to obtain a high-accuracy solution on large time intervals.  相似文献

A step-by-step modification of the well-known approach proposed by Mikhaylenko and Konyukh to solving dynamic problems is proposed. The approach is based on the Laguerre transform with respect to time. In this modification the Laguerre transform is applied to a sequence of finite time intervals. The solution obtained at the end of a time interval is used as the initial data for solving the problem on the next time interval. The method is illustrated by examples for the harmonic oscillator problem and the 1D wave equation. Accuracy and stability of the method are analyzed. This approach allows obtaining a solution of high accuracy on large time intervals.  相似文献

The set-valued variational inequality problem is very useful in economics theory and nonsmooth optimization. In this paper, we introduce some gap functions for set-valued variational inequality problems under suitable assumptions. By using these gap functions we derive global error bounds for the solution of the set-valued variational inequality problems. Our results not only generalize the previously known results for classical variational inequalities from single-valued case to set-valued, but also present a way to construct gap functions and derive global error bounds for set-valued variational inequality problems.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop the mixed spectral method for three-dimensional exterior problems, using spherical harmonic and generalized Laguerre functions. Some basic approximation results are established. The mixed spectral schemes are proposed for two model problems. Their convergences are proved. The study of fractional variational problems in terms of a combined fractional Caputo derivative is introduced. Necessary optimality conditions of Euler-Lagrange type for the basic, isoperimetric, and Lagrange variational problems are proved, as well as transversality and sufficient optimality conditions. This allows to obtain necessary and sufficient Pareto optimality conditions for multiobjective fractional variational problems.  相似文献
