In this paper, the problem of estimating the scale matrix and their eigenvalues in a Wishart distribution and in a multivariate F distribution (which arise naturally from a two-sample setting) are considered. A new class of estimators which shrink the eigenvalues towards their arithmetic mean are proposed. It is shown that the new estimator which dominates the usual unbiased estimator under the squared error loss function. A simulation study was carried out to study the performance of these estimators.  相似文献

In this paper, the problem of estimating the covariance matrix of the elliptically contoured distribution (ECD) is considered. A new class of estimators which shrink the eigenvalues towards their arithmetic mean is proposed. It is shown that this new estimator dominates the unbiased estimator under the squared error loss function. Two special classes of ECD, namely, the multivariate-elliptical t distribution and the ε-contaminated normal distribution are considered. A simulation study is carried out and indicates that this new shrinkage estimator provides a substantial improvement in risk under most situations.  相似文献

In this paper, the Bayes estimator and the parametric empirical Bayes estimator (PEBE) of mean vector in multivariate normal distribution are obtained. The superiority of the PEBE over the minimum variance unbiased estimator (MVUE) and a revised James-Stein estimators (RJSE) are investigated respectively under mean square error (MSE) criterion. Extensive simulations are conducted to show that performance of the PEBE is optimal among these three estimators under the MSE criterion.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new estimator for a kurtosis in a multivariate nonnormal linear regression model. Usually, an estimator is constructed from an arithmetic mean of the second power of the squared sample Mahalanobis distances between observations and their estimated values. The estimator gives an underestimation and has a large bias, even if the sample size is not small. We replace this squared distance with a transformed squared norm of the Studentized residual using a monotonic increasing function. Our proposed estimator is defined by an arithmetic mean of the second power of these squared transformed squared norms with a correction term and a tuning parameter. The correction term adjusts our estimator to an unbiased estimator under normality, and the tuning parameter controls the sizes of the squared norms of the residuals. The family of our estimators includes estimators based on ordinary least squares and predicted residuals. We verify that the bias of our new estimator is smaller than usual by constructing numerical experiments.  相似文献

One may use information about a random sample of network members to estimate quantities related to the triad census of a network. Various kinds of information about the graph may be observable from the sample; four observation schemes involving the local networks of the sampled vertices are considered here. Unbiased triad count estimators are defined, and their variances (and unbiased estimators of these variances) are derived. A main result is that under one of the observation schemes, the estimator can be written as a sum of vertex attributes; standard estimation formulas for various sampling designs, such as stratified sampling, are therefore effortlessly applied. In practical survey sampling, nonresponse phenomenon is unavoidable. How to impute missing data is an important problem. There are several imputation methods in the literature. In this paper, the imputation method of the mean of ratios for missing data under uniform response is applied to the estimation of a finite population mean when the PPSWR sampling is used. The imputed estimator is valid under the corresponding response mechanism regardless of the model as well as under the ratio model regardless of the response mechanism. The approximately unbiased jackknife variance estimator is also presented. All of these results are extended to the case of non-uniform response. Simulation studies show the good performance of the proposed estimators.  相似文献

The unbiased estimator of risk of the orthogonally invariant estimator of the skew-symmetric normal mean matrix is obtained, and a class of minimax estimators and their order-preserving modification are proposed. We investigate semiparametric estimation of regression coefficients through generalized estimating equations with single-index models when some covariates are missing at random. Existing popular semiparametric estimators may run into difficulties when some selection probabilities are small or the dimension of the covariates is not low. We propose a new simple parameter estimator using a kernel-assisted estimator for the augmentation by a single-index model without using the inverse of selection probabilities. We show that under certain conditions the proposed estimator is as efficient as the existing methods based on standard kernel smoothing, which are often practically infeasible in the case of multiple covariates. A simulation study and a real data example are presented to illustrate the proposed method. The numerical results show that the proposed estimator avoids some numerical issues caused by estimated small selection probabilities that are needed in other estimators.

We consider a difference based ridge regression estimator and a Liu type estimator of the regression parameters in the partial linear semiparametric regression model, y=Xβ+f+ε. Both estimators are analyzed and compared in the sense of mean-squared error. We consider the case of independent errors with equal variance and give conditions under which the proposed estimators are superior to the unbiased difference based estimation technique. We extend the results to account for heteroscedasticity and autocovariance in the error terms. Finally, we illustrate the performance of these estimators with an application to the determinants of electricity consumption in Germany.  相似文献

Summary The use of ratio and product estimators for the mean of a finite population is well known. This paper proposes transformed estimators obtained through parametric linear combination of the ratio, or product, and the usual unbiased estimator of the mean for any sample design. To the first degree of approximation, the proposed estimators have smaller mean square error than that of the ratio, product and the usual unbiased estimator, for suitable choice of the parameter. The superiority of the proposed estimators over others for small samples has been studied empirically.  相似文献

本文提出两个新的估计量,利用观察数据中的总体辅助信息来估计有限总体分布函数,并通过两个人工总体的模拟实验,比较新的估计量、传统的估计量及Rao,Kover&Mantel(1990)提出的估计量的相对平均误差与相对标准差。结果表明,从相对标准差的角度分析,两个新的估计量有一个是四个估计量中精度最好的一个,另一个也有很好的表现;而且它们在模型有所偏差时都具备了较好的稳健性。  相似文献

基于Corwin和Schultz(2012)提出的有效价差的High-Low估计,结合价格极值信息得到新的一阶矩条件,构造了有效价差的广义矩估计。随后通过随机数值模拟比较了基于价格极值的广义矩估计(GMM)与Roll的协方差估计、Bayes估计以及Corwin和Schultz的High-Low估计在多种不同状态下的估计精度。数值模拟结果显示,无论在交易连续的理想状态下还是交易不连续且波动率相对不高的非理想状态下,GMM估计的精度均高于其余三种估计;基于我国股票市场的实例分析,也表明GMM估计的估计精度优于其余三种估计。因此,GMM估计为度量金融资产的交易成本提供了一种有效方法。  相似文献

研究一类方差分量模型中的方差分量的估计改进问题,首先在含两个方差分量模型中给出σ21二次型估计类,并且此估计类还具有无偏性和不变性.考虑二次损失(δ-θ)2,在此估计类基础上放弃无偏性进行非负改进,不仅得到优于二次不变无偏估计类的σ21的非负二次不变估计类,而且还说明了它优于方差分析估计和最小均方误差估计,文献[5]中给出s>2时的非负改进,但是非负改进存在是有条件的,本文克服了这个缺陷.最后给出了非负改进存在的充分必要条件.  相似文献

The problem of estimating the cross-product of two mean vectors in three-dimensional Euclidian space is considered. Two ‘natural’ estimators are developed, both of which turn out to be biased. A third, unbiased estimator, resulting from a jackknife procedure, is also investigated. It is shown that, under normality, the latter is best among all the unbiased estimators of this quantity.  相似文献

In this paper, we give a definition of the alternating iterative maximum likelihood estimator (AIMLE) which is a biased estimator. Furthermore we adjust the AIMLE to result in asymptotically unbiased and consistent estimators by using a bootstrap iterative bias correction method as in Kuk (1995). The accelerated failure time model provides a natural formulation of the effects of covariates on the failure time variable. The presence of censoring poses major challenges in the semi-parametric analysis. The existing semi-parametric estimators are computationally intractable. In this article we propose an unbiased transformation for the potential censored response variable, thus least square estimators of regression parameters can be gotten easily. The resulting estimators are consistent and asymptotically normal. Based on these, we can get a strongly consistent K-M estimator for the distribution of random error. Extensive simulation studies show that the asymptotic approximations are accurate in practical situations.  相似文献
