We deal with one-parameter families of optimization problems in finite dimensions. The constraints are both of equality and inequality type. The concept of a generalized critical point (g.c. point) is introduced. In particular, every local minimum, Kuhn-Tucker point, and point of Fritz John type is a g.c. point. Under fairly weak (even generic) conditions we study the set consisting of all g.c. points. Due to the parameter, the set is pieced together from one-dimensional manifolds. The points of can be divided into five (characteristic) types. The subset of nondegenerate critical points (first type) is open and dense in (nondegenerate means: strict complementarity, nondegeneracy of the corresponding quadratic form and linear independence of the gradients of binding constraints). A nondegenerate critical point is completely characterized by means of four indices. The change of these indices along is presented. Finally, the Kuhn-Tucker subset of is studied in more detail, in particular in connection with the (failure of the) Mangasarian-Fromowitz constraint qualification.  相似文献

M. Richter has proved that whenever a classK of -structures has a finitary first-order axiomatization then the inclusionK Str preserves all existing directed colimits (see [7]). We will generalize this result to classes of -structures having an infinitary first-order axiomatization in a larger signature . A new property called scalar-quadratic is presented for establishing the stabilizability of linear time-varyring uncertain systems. It is applied to a well-known linear time-varying system OL which contains two uncertainties 1(t) and 2(t). Using the Lyapunov functionsV(x)=x T Px, whereP is a constant postitive-definite symmetric matrix, previous authors have shown that OL is stabilizable by linear static controllers when the time-varying uncertainties are bounded by a normalized bound satisfying < 0.8. We extend the bound to < 1.0 by using the more general Lyapunov functions satisfying the scalar-quadratic propertyV(ax)=a 2 V(x), aR, xR 0 2 .Our proof uses a hexagon as a closed, convex hypersuface to construct a scalar-quadratic Lyapunov function, so that the Lyapunov time derivative satisfies the quadratic convergence condition , >0, for the closed-loop system CL formed from OL and a stabilizing linear static controller. The critical condition in the proof of the quaratic convergence ondition is the satisfaction of the inequality , where max is a normalization bound for 1(t) and 2(t) and wheree 1 ande 2 are parameters for the controller. For the controller parametrized bye 1=8 ande 2=20, this inequality reduces to max < 2.2096. This result, in particular, establishes that the Petersen counterexample is stabilitzable by the linear static controller withe 1=8 ande 2=20. Furthermore, it establishes the amazing result that OL is stabilizable by a linear static controlle on any compact subset of the constant uncertainaty controllability space defined by 1>0 and 2>0.  相似文献

We study four transformations which lead from one well-posed linear system to another: time-inversion, flow^-inversion, time-flow-inversion and duality. Time-inversion means reversing the direction of time, flow-inversion means interchanging inputs with outputs, while time-flow-inversion means doing both of the inversions mentioned before. A well-posed linear system is time-invertible if and only if its operator semigroup extends to a group. The system is flow-invertible if and only if its input-output map has a bounded inverse on some (hence, on every) finite time interval [0, ] ( > 0). This is true if and only if the transfer function of has a uniformly bounded inverse on some right half-plane. The system is time-flow-invertible if and only if on some (hence, on every) finite time interval [0, ], the combined operator from the initial state and the input function to the final state and the output function is invertible. This is the case, for example, if the system is conservative, since then is unitary. Time-flow-inversion can sometimes, but not always, be reduced to a combination of time- and flow-inversion. We derive a surprising necessary and sufficient condition for to be time-flow-invertible: its system operator must have a uniformly bounded inverse on some left halfplane. Finally, the duality transformation is always possible.We show by some examples that none of these transformations preserves regularity in general. However, the duality transformation does preserve weak regularity. For all the transformed systems mentioned above, we give formulas for their system operators, transfer functions and, in the regular case and under additional assumptions, for their generating operators.  相似文献

We investigate the presence of polynomial identities in the algebras Q n, generated by n idempotents with the sum e ( and e is the identity of an algebra). For the first few even,r, the sums are obtained in closed form, and for oddr they are given in terms of a certain definite integral. We give necessary and sufficient conditions under which {s mn } converges in Pringsheim's sense. These conditions are weaker than the two-dimensional analogues of Landau's condition and Schmidt's slow decrease condition. Our results generalize and extend [1 4, 12 15]. This paper is part of a program aiming at the classification of all higher-dimensional locally compact translation planes whose collineation groups have large dimension. In the present paper we determine all eight-dimensional locally compact translation planes which admit acompact collineation group of dimension at least 5 acting almost effectively on the translation axis. In fact, is isomorphic either to Spin4 or toSO 4(). The case Spin4() has already been treated elsewhere ([6]). Here, the planes with SO 4() are explicitly determined and studied in detail.  相似文献
