An undirected graph of valencyd and girth is called a (d, )-cage if its automorphism group acts transitively on the set of alls-paths in ands(+1)/2. We discuss an elementary construction of two known families of cages which allows us to prove easily some facts about their automorphism groups. We give, for example, a new proof of the fact that the automorphism group ofSp 4(2 n ) contains elements which are not induced by Sp 4(2 n ).  相似文献

Examples are presented showing that fort1 there exist constantsA, B such that (t,n)A·log(n) and (t,n)B· log(n). It is conjectured that (t,n) B·log(n) for some constantB. Summary Let be the difference of a pair of adjacent eigen-values of the differential equation (1) for the spheroidal functions. Until now only the two first terms of the asymptotic expansion (2) of for large *2=–2 had been known. In this note the next term, i. e. the coefficient of *–2, is given, and the way of calculating it is described.

On the basis of a comparison of the activation energies of the processes of thermal degradation and mechanical fracture of PMM with various additives it is concluded that in the presence of a "pole shift effect" it is more correct to calculate the activation energy U2 of the mechanical fracture process on the assumption that 0 = const and =f(, T). The energy U02 is then correlated with the weak-bond rupture energy. The application of the ML method in linear regression requires a parametric form for the error density. We prove that on a closed, smooth, convex surface of revolution , whose poles are not flattening points, there exists only a countable set of parallels n. Each of these parallels cuts surface into two parts so that one of the parts, , admits nontrivial, infinitesimal bendings in the process of which all the points of its boundary n are displaced on a preassigned, conic sleeve K that is coaxial with the surface. Given a ratio , >>0, and a triangle ABC, on the sides and , using ratios , and , three circles of Apollonius are denned. In this paper, we will show that the three centers are collinear, the circles are coaxal and develop a necessary and sufficient condition that these circles intersect. J. A. Hoskins, W. D. Hoskins and R. G. Stanton obtained these results in a recent paper using algebraic computation. Our aim is to establish all these results using only results from elementary Euclidean geometry and thereby uncovering more geometric insights and avoid lengthy calculations.  相似文献

We give an extension of the Fenchel-Borsuk result by introducing the total absolute torsion-curvature KT() for regular curves whose tangent indicatrix is a piecewise regular curve (-closed curves). If is a -subadditive seminorm function, we give, under suitable conditions over , necessary and sufficient conditions in order that M be invariant and prove the existence of -factors for . We also give a characterization of the best -factor for a -subadditive function seminorm when is -finite. Let us consider a signal-plus-noise model h(z)+B 0(z), z [0,1], where > 0, h: [0,1] , and B 0 is a Brownian bridge. We establish the asymptotics for the boundary crossing probability of the weighted signal-plus-noise model for , that is P (sup z [0,1] w(z)( h(z)+B 0(z))>c), for , (1) where w: [0,1] [0, is a weight function and c>0 is arbitrary. By the large deviation principle one gets a result with a constant which is the solution of a minimizing problem. In this paper we show an asymptotic expansion that is stronger than large deviation. As byproduct of our result we obtain the solution of the minimizing problem occurring in the large deviation expression. It is worth mentioning that the probability considered in (1) appears as power of the weighted Kolmogorov test applied to the test problem H 0: h 0 against the alternative K: h>0 in the signal-plus-noise model.  相似文献

In this paper, the -subdifferential is introduced for investigating the global behavior of real-valued functions on a normed spaceX. Iff: DX attains its global minimum onD atx *, then 0 f(x *). This necessary condition always holds, even iff is not continuous orx * is at the boundary of its domain. Nevertheless, it is useful because, by choosing a suitable +, many local minima cannot satisfy this necessary condition. For the sufficient conditions, the so-called -convex functions are defined. The class of these functions is rather large. For example, every periodic function on the real line is a -convex function. There are -convex functions which are not continuous everywhere. Every function of bounded variation can be represented as the difference of two -convex functions. For all that, -convex functions still have properties similar to those of convex functions. For instance, each -local minimizer off is at the same time a global one. We investigate two-dimensional timelike surfaces in a Lorentz manifold (X,g). It is shown that orientable surfaces with two spacelike boundary components (homeomorphic toS 1) are necessarily of topological type [0,1] x S1. We treat the initial value problem of a string (known from physics) as a purely geometric problem: Find a minimal surface which is specified by an initial curve and by a distribution of timelike tangent planes along . We prove the local existence and uniqueness of and also obtain global existence for special types (X,g). Global existence does not generally hold; we give a counter-example, which can be interpreted as a string collapsing into a black hole.  相似文献
