Let T(n,R) be the Lie algebra consisting of all n × n upper triangular matrices over a commutative ring R with identity 1 and M be a 2-torsion free unital T(n,R)-bimodule.In this paper,we prove that every Lie triple derivation d : T(n,R) → M is the sum of a Jordan derivation and a central Lie triple derivation.     

Maximal subalgebras of the general linear Lie algebra containing Cartan subalgebras

Let gln(R) be the general linear Lie algebra of all n × n matrices over a unital commutative ring R with 2 invertible, dn(R) be the Cartan subalgebra of gln(R) of all diagonal matrices. The maximal subalgebras of gln(R) that contain dn(R) are classified completely.     

Derivations of generalized Weyl algebras

A class of the associative and Lie algebras A[D] = A F[D] of Weyl type are studied, where A is a commutative associative algebra with an identity element over a field F of characteristic zero, and F[D] is the polynomial algebra of a finite dimensional commutative subalgebra of locally finite derivations of A such that A is D-simple. The derivations of these associative and Lie algebras are precisely determined.

Several types of proper local derivations of Nn（R） （n ≤ 4） are constructed, based on which all local derivations of Nn（R） （n ≤ 4） are characterized when R is a domain.

The purpose of this paper is to give a brief introduction to the category of Lie Rinehart algebras and introduces the concept of smooth manifolds associated with a unitary, commutative,associative algebra A.It especially shows that the A-extended algebra as well as the action algebra can be realized as the space of A-left invariant vector fields on a Lie group,analogous to the well known relationship of Lie algebras and Lie groups.

Let Nn（R）be the algebra consisting of all strictly upper triangular n × n matrices over a commutative ring R with the identity.An R-bilinear map φ ：Nn（R）×Nn（R）→ Nn（R）is called a biderivation if it is a derivation with respect to both arguments.In this paper,we define the notions of central biderivation and extremal biderivation of Nn（R）,and prove that any biderivation of Nn（R）can be decomposed as a sum of an inner biderivation,central biderivation and extremal biderivation for n ≥ 5.     

Note on Co-split Lie Algebras

It is proved that,any finite dimensional complex Lie algebra L = [L,L],hence,over a field of characteristic zero,any finite dimensional Lie algebra L = [L,L] possessing a basis with complex structure constants,should be a weak co-split Lie algebra.A class of non-semi-simple co-split Lie algebras is given.

Co-commuting Mappings of Generalized Matrix Algebras

Let G be a generalized matrix algebra over a commutative ring R and Z(G)be the center of G.Suppose that F,T:G→G are two co-commuting R-linear mappings,i.e.,F(x)x=xT(x) for all x∈G.In this note,we study the question of when co-commuting mappings on G are proper.     

RECENT PROGRESS ON SPHERICAL HARMONIC APPROXIMATION MADE BY BNU RESEARCH GROUP ——In memory of Professor Sun Yongsheng

As early as in 1990, Professor Sun Yongsheng, suggested his students at Beijing Normal University to consider research problems on the unit sphere. Under his guidance and encouragement his students started the research on spherical harmonic analysis and approximation. In this paper, we incompletely introduce the main achievements in this area obtained by our group and relative researchers during recent 5 years （2001-2005）. The main topics are： convergence of Cesaro summability, a.e. and strong summability of Fourier-Laplace series; smoothness and K-functionals; Kolmogorov and linear widths.

Bounds for the zeros of polynomials

Let P(z)=∑↓j=0↑n ajx^j be a polynomial of degree n. In this paper we prove a more general result which interalia improves upon the bounds of a class of polynomials. We also prove a result which includes some extensions and generalizations of Enestrǒm-Kakeya theorem.
