The general Degasperis–Procesi equation (gDP) describes the evolution of the water surface in a unidirectional shallow water approximation. We propose a finite-difference scheme for this equation that preserves some conservation and balance laws. In addition, the stability of the scheme and the convergence of numerical solutions to exact solutions for solitons are proved. Numerical experiments confirm the theoretical conclusions. For essentially nonintegrable versions of the gDP equation, it is shown that solitons and antisolitons collide almost elastically: they retain their shape after interaction, but a small “tail”, the so-called “radiation”, appears.  相似文献

We refine a result due to L. V. Ovsyannikov on the general formof the second order linear differential equations with a nonzero generalized Laplace which are invariant admitting a Lie group of transformations of the maximal order with n > 2 independent variables for which the associated Riemannian spaces have nonzero curvature. We show that the set of these equations is exhausted by the generalized Darboux equation and the Ovsyannikov equation. We find the operators acting on the set of solutions in every one-parameter family of generalized Darboux equations. For the elliptic generalized Darboux equation possessing the maximal symmetry and describing steadystate oscillations in continuously inhomogeneous medium with a degeneration hyperplane, the group analysis methods yield the exact solutions to boundary value problems for some regions (a generalized Poisson formula) which in particular can be the test solutions in simulating steadystate oscillations in continuously inhomogeneous media.  相似文献

A new vector long wave-short wave-type model is proposed by resorting to the zero-curvature equation. Based on the resulting Riccati equations related to the Lax pair and the gauge transformations between the Lax pairs, multifold Darboux transformations are constructed for the vector long wave-short wave-type model. This method is general and is suitable for constructing the Darboux transformations of other soliton equations, especially in the absence of symmetric conditions for Lax pairs. As an illustrative example of the application of the Darboux transformations, exact solutions of the two-component long wave-short wave-type model are obtained, including solitons, breathers, and rogue waves of the first, second, third, and fourth orders. All the solutions derived by the Darboux transformations involve square roots of functions, which is not observed in the investigation of other nonlinear integrable equations. This model describes new nonlinear phenomena.  相似文献

An explicit, analytical model is presented of finite-amplitude waves in shallow water. The waves in question have two independent spatial periods, in two independent horizontal directions. Both short-crested and long-crested waves are available from the model. Every wave pattern is an exact solution of the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation, and is based on a Riemann theta function of genus 2. These biperiodic waves are direct generalizations of the well-known (simply periodic) cnoidal waves. Just as cnoidal waves are often used as one-dimensional models of “typical” nonlinear, periodic waves in shallow water, these biperiodic waves may be considered to represent “typical” nonlinear, periodic waves in shallow water without the assumption of one-dimensionality.

We construct the Darboux transformations, exact solutions, and infinite number of conservation laws for a semidiscrete Gardner equation. A special class of solutions of the semidiscrete equation, called table-top solitons, are given. The dynamical properties of these solutions are also discussed.  相似文献

As an extension of the results obtained in [1], two equivalent uniformly divergent systems of equations are constructed in thespeedograph plane, each of which is the analogue of Chaplygin's equation in the hodograph plane. Each of the systems reduces to a linear second-order equation, in one case for the particle function (the Lagrange coordinate) ψ, and in the other for the time t. These systems possess an infinite set of exact solutions. It is shown that a uniformly divergent system of first-order equations correspond to each of these, and, related to them, the simplest non-linear homogeneous second-order equation in the modified events plane (ψ, t) and the conservation law in the events plant (x, t). Clear relations are obtained between the velocities of the fronts of constant values of the newly constructed dependent variables and the velocity of sound. Examples are given which demonstrate the relation between the exact solutions with the uniformly divergent equations and the conservation laws of one-dimensional non-stationary gas dynamics and, simultaneously, enable one to compare the newly obtained results (the exact solutions, the equations and conservation laws, and the relations for the velocities of the front) with existing results, including those for plane steady flows. The so-called additional conservation laws, to which Godunov drew attention, are considered.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to study the linear stability of “viscous” roll waves. These are periodic continuous traveling waves solutions of viscous perturbations of inhomogeneous hyperbolic systems. We first study the scalar case for the Burgers equation and for an inhomogeneous hyperbolic equation. Then we analyze the stability of roll waves, solutions of the shallow water equations with a real viscosity. In both cases, we first analyze the Evans function and compute an asymptotic expansion in the low frequency regime. Under a strong spectral stability condition, we prove the linear stability of viscous roll waves, solutions of the Saint Venant equations, with pointwise estimates on the Green functions.  相似文献

Using the Darboux matrix method, the multi-solitary wave solutions of the generalized coupled mKdV equation with multi-component are obtained. The obtained solution formulas provide us with a comprehensive approach to construct exact solutions for the generalized coupled mKdV equation by some basic solutions of the Boiti and Tu spectral problem.  相似文献

We study coupled systems of nonlinear wave equations from the point of view of their formal Darboux integrability. By making use of Vessiot's geometric theory of differential equations, it is possible to associate to each system of nonlinear wave equations a module of vector fields on the second-order jet bundle — the Vessiot distribution. By imposing certain conditions of the structure of the Vessiot distributions, we identify the so-called separable Vessiot distributions. By expressing the separable Vessiot distributions in a basis of singular vector fields, we show that there are, at most, 27 equivalence classes of such distributions. Of these, 14 classes are associated with Darboux integrable nonlinear systems. We take one of these Darboux integrable classes and show that it is in correspondence with the class of six-dimensional simply transitive Lie algebras. Finally, this later result is used to reduce the problem of constructing exact general solutions of the nonlinear wave equations understudy to the integration of Lie systems. These systems were first discovered by Sophus Lie as the most general class of ordinary differential equations which admit nonlinear superposition principles.  相似文献

We examine the possibility to generate localized structures in effectively one-dimensional Gross–Pitaevskii with a time-dependent scattering length and a complicated potential. Through analytical methods invoking a generalized lens-type transformation and the Darboux transformation, we present the integrable condition for the Gross–Pitaevskii equation and obtain the exact analytical solution which describes the modulational instability and the propagation of bright solitary waves on a continuous wave background. The dynamics and stability of this solution are analyzed. Moreover, by employing the extended tanh-function method we obtain the exact analytical solutions which describes the propagation of dark and other families of solitary waves.  相似文献

We study the fusion kernel for nondegenerate conformal blocks in the Liouville theory as a solution of difference equations originating from the pentagon identity. We propose an approach for solving these equations based on a “nonperturbative” series expansion that allows calculating the fusion kernel iteratively. We also find exact solutions for the special central charge values c = 1+6(b ? b?1)2, b ∈ ?. For c = 1, the obtained result reproduces the formula previously obtained from analytic properties of a solution of a Painlev´e equation, but our solution has a significantly simplified form.  相似文献

Toda [1], Boyd [2], Zaitsev [3], Korpel & Banerjee [4], and Whitham [5] have proved that many species of solitons may be cloned and superposed with even spacing to generateexact nonlinear, spatially periodic solutions (“cnoidal waves”). The equations solved by such “imbricate” series of solitary waves include the Korteweg-deVries, Cubic Schroedinger, Benjamin-Ono, and resonant triad equations. However, all existing theorems apply only when the solitons arerational ormeromorphic functions and the cnoidal waves areelliptic functions. In this note, we ask: does the exact soliton-superposition apply to non-elliptic solitons and cnoidal waves? Although a complete answer to this (very broad!) question eludes us, it is possible to offer a revealing counterexample. The quartic Korteweg-deVries equation has solutions which arehyperelliptic, and thus very special. Nevertheless, its periodic solutions are not the exact superposition of the infinite number of copies of a soliton. This is highly suggestive that non-elliptic extensions of the Toda theorem are rare or non-existent. It is intriguing, however, that the soliton-superposition generates a very goodapproximation to the hypercnoidal wave even when the solitons strongly overlap.  相似文献

We discuss planar polynomial vector fields with prescribed Darboux integrating factors, in a nondegenerate affine geometric setting. We establish a reduction principle which transfers the problem to polynomial solutions of certain meromorphic linear systems, and show that the space of vector fields with a given integrating factor, modulo a subspace of explicitly known “standard” vector fields, has finite dimension. For several classes of examples we determine this space explicitly.  相似文献

We compute the solution of the one-dimensional Burgers’ equation by marching the solution in time using a Taylor series expansion. Our approach does not require symbolic manipulation and does not involve the solution of a system of linear or non-linear algebraic equations. Instead, we use recursive formulas obtained from the differential equation to calculate exact values of the derivatives needed in the Taylor series. We illustrate the effectiveness of our method by solving four test problems with known exact solutions. The numerical solutions we obtain are in excellent agreement with the exact solutions, while being superior to other previously reported numerical solutions.  相似文献

We construct and study exact solutions to a nonlinear second order parabolic equation which is usually called the “nonlinear heat equation” or “nonlinear filtration equation” in the Russian literature and the “porous medium equation” in other countries. Under examination is the special class of solutions having the form of a heat wave that propagates through cold (zero) background with finite velocity. The equation degenerates on the boundary of a heat wave (called the heat front) and its order decreases. The construction of these solutions by passing to an overdetermined system and analyzing its solvability reduces to integration of nonlinear ordinary differential equations of the second order with an initial condition such that the equations are not solvable with respect to the higher derivative. Some admissible families of heat fronts and the corresponding exact solutions to the problems in question are obtained. A detailed study of the global properties of solutions is carried out by the methods of the qualitative theory of differential equations and power geometry which are adapted for degenerate equations. The results are interpreted from the point of view of the behavior and properties of heat waves with a logarithmic front.  相似文献

By considering the one-dimensional model for describing long, small amplitude waves in shallow water, a generalized fifth-order evolution equation named the Olver water wave(OWW) equation is investigated by virtue of some new pseudo-potential systems. By introducing the corresponding pseudo-potential systems, the authors systematically construct some generalized symmetries that consider some new smooth functions{Xiβ}i=1,2,···,nβ =1,2,···,N depending on a finite number of partial derivatives of the nonlocal variables vβand a restriction ∑iα,β(? ξi/?vβ)2+(?ηα/?vβ)2≠0, i.e.,∑i,α,β(?Gα/?vβ)2≠0. Furthermore, the authors investigate some structures associated with the Olver water wave(AOWW)equations including Lie algebra and Darboux transformation. The results are also extended to AOWW equations such as Lax, Sawada-Kotera, Kaup-Kupershmidt, It and Caudrey-Dodd-Gibbon-Sawada-Kotera equations, et al. Finally, the symmetries are applied to investigate the initial value problems and Darboux transformations.  相似文献

In this paper, we study one-dimensional linear degenerate wave equations with a distributed controller. We establish observability inequalities for degenerate wave equation by multiplier method. We also deduce the exact controllability for degenerate wave equation by Hilbert uniqueness method when the control acts on the nondegenerate boundary. Moreover, an explicit expression for the controllability time is given.  相似文献
