The embedding of linearly ordered sets

It is shown that if a linearly ordered set B does not contain as subsets sets of order type and ^* then B can be embedded in 2 . We construct an example of a set satisfying the above conditions which cannot be embedded in any 2 if < . On Localization of Connective Covers

A result of Neisendorfer says that, for every connected p-complete finite complex Y with ₂Y torsion, the p-completion of P_{K(/p, 1)} (Ym) and Y are of the same homotopy type for any positive integer m. Here, P_{K(/p, 1)}(Ym) is the periodization functor of Bousfield and Ym) is the m-connective cover of the space Y. The proof of this result depends on Millers Theorem of Sullivans conjecture. Stabilization of solutions of certain parabolic equations and systems

This paper concerns the investigation of the stabilization of solutions of the Cauchy problem for a system of equations of the form u/t = u + f_i(u, v); v/t = v + F₂(u, v). It is proved that under certain assumptions the behavior of solutions as t is determined by mutual arrangement of the set of initial conditions {(u, v): u = f₁(x), v =f ₂(x), xRⁿ} and the trajectories of the system of ordinary differential equations du/dt = F₁(u, v), dv/dt = F₂(u, v).
