PROPERTIES OF FRACTIONAL k-FACTORS OF GRAPHS

In this paper the properties of some maximum fractional [0, k]-factors of graphs are presented. And consequently some results on fractional matchings and fractional 1-factors are generalized and a characterization of fractional k-factors is obtained.

Oscillatory behavior of solutions of second order nonlinear difference equation is studied. Oscillation criteria for its solutions are given. Examples are given in the text to illustrate the results.     

NONEXISTENCE OF POSITIVE SOLUTION OF A CLASS OF NONLINEAR DIFFERENCE EQUATION

In this paper, a class of nonlinear difference equations are investigated. The sufficient conditions for the nonexistence of positive solutions are obtained. The results in this paper improve ones in [2].

广义泛函微分方程解的稳定性

本文首先给出广义泛函微分方程解的稳定性的概念,同时建立了有关稳定与不稳定的二个判据,然后作为例子,讨论二阶线性常系数广义微分差分程,得到了这类系统有关稳定与不稳定的若干结果,并发现了一些关于稳定性的分支或类似于分支的现象。

DERIVATIVES OF EIGENPAIRS OF SYMMETRIC QUADRATIC EIGENVALUE PROBLEM

Derivatives of eigenvalues and eigenvectors with respect to parameters in symmetric quadratic eigenvalue problem are studied. The first and second order derivatives of eigenpairs are given. The derivatives are calculated in terms of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the quadratic eigenvalue problem, and the use of state space representation is avoided, hence the cost of computation is greatly reduced. The efficiency of the presented method is demonstrated by considering a spring-mass-damper system.     

UNIQUENESS OF DIFFERENCE POLYNOMIALS OF MEROMORPHIC FUNCTIONS

In this article, we investigate the uniqueness problems of difference polynomials of meromorphic functions and obtain some results which can be viewed as discrete analogues of the results given by Shibazaki. Some examples are given to show the results in this article are best possible.

STATISTICAL ASPECTS OF SAMPLING POPULATIONS OF FOREST ELEPHANTS

ABSTRACT. Statistical issues relating to a number of sampling methods which can be used to obtain estimates of the number, or density, of forest elephants are discussed. The most widely used method, distance sampling, is briefly described. A recently proposed method, recce sampling, that reduces sampling effort is described and discussed. Adaptive sampling, often used when populations are sparse, patchy or clustered, is described and proposed as an alternative. Model‐based and design‐based inferences are compared and their use in sampling forest elephant populations is discussed. Further considerations that are required to estimate or monitor changes in elephant populations over time are outlined.
