We show that every minimal action of any finitely generated abelian group on the Cantor set is (topologically) orbit equivalent to an AF relation. As a consequence, this extends the classification up to orbit equivalence of minimal dynamical systems on the Cantor set to include AF relations and ? d -actions.  相似文献

We show that it is consistent with ZFC that the free Abelian group of cardinality c admits a topological group topology that makes it countably compact with a non-trivial convergent sequence.  相似文献

We show that atoms of the n-generated free left-handed skew Boolean intersection algebra are in a bijective correspondence with pointed partitions of non-empty subsets of \(\{1,2,\dots , n\}\). Furthermore, under the canonical inclusion into the k-generated free algebra, where kn, an atom of the n-generated free algebra decomposes into an orthogonal join of atoms of the k-generated free algebra in an agreement with the containment order on the respective partitions. As a consequence of these results, we describe the structure of finite free left-handed skew Boolean intersection algebras and express several their combinatorial characteristics in terms of Bell numbers and Stirling numbers of the second kind. We also look at the infinite case. For countably many generators, our constructions lead to the ‘partition analogue’ of the Cantor tree whose boundary is the ‘partition variant’ of the Cantor set.  相似文献

We show that for a one-parameter family of unicritical polynomials {fc} with even critical order ??2, for almost all parameters c, fc admits a unique SRB-measure, being either absolutely continuous, or supported on the postcritical set. As a byproduct we prove that if fc has a Cantor attractor, then it is uniquely ergodic on its postcritical set.  相似文献

We obtain a complete classification of the continuous unitary representations of oligomorphic permutation groups (those include the infinite permutation group S ??, the automorphism group of the countable dense linear order, the homeomorphism group of the Cantor space, etc.). Our main result is that all irreducible representations of such groups are obtained by induction from representations of finite quotients of open subgroups and, moreover, every representation is a sum of irreducibles. As an application, we prove that many oligomorphic groups have property (T). We also show that the Gelfand?CRaikov theorem holds for topological subgroups of S ??: for all such groups, continuous irreducible representations separate points in the group.  相似文献

We show in the Zermelo-Fraenkel set theory ZF without the axiom of choice:
  1. Given an infinite set X, the Stone space S(X) is ultrafilter compact.

  2. For every infinite set X, every countable filterbase of X extends to an ultra-filter i? for every infinite set X, S(X) is countably compact.

  3. ω has a free ultrafilter i? every countable, ultrafilter compact space is countably compact.

    We also show the following:

  4. There are a permutation model 𝒩 and a set X ∈ 𝒩 such that X has no free ultrafilters and S(X) is not compact but S(X) is countably compact and every countable filterbase of X extends to an ultrafilter.

  5. It is relatively consistent with ZF that every countable filterbase of ω extends to an ultrafilter but there exists a countable filterbase of ? which does not extend to an ultrafilter. Hence, it is relatively consistent with ZF that ? has free ultrafilters but there exists a countable filterbase of ? which does not extend to an ultrafilter.

We show that any countable family of operators of the form P(B), where P is a non-constant polynomial and B is the backward shift operator on ω, the countably infinite product of lines, has a common hypercyclic subspace.  相似文献

We study properties of continuous homomorphisms from β S into T* and from S* into T*, where S denotes a countably infinite semigroup and T denotes a countably infinite group. We show that they have striking algebraic properties if they do not arise as continuous extensions of homomorphisms from S to T.  相似文献

We study self-similar ultrametric Cantor sets arising from stationary Bratteli diagrams. We prove that such a Cantor set C is bi-Lipschitz embeddable in R[Hdim(C)]+1, where [Hdim(C)] denotes the integer part of its Hausdorff dimension. We compute this Hausdorff dimension explicitly and show that it is the abscissa of convergence of a zeta-function associated with a natural sequence of refining coverings of C (given by the Bratteli diagram). As a corollary we prove that the transversal of a (primitive) substitution tiling of Rd is bi-Lipschitz embeddable in Rd+1.We also show that C is bi-Hölder embeddable in the real line. The image of C in R turns out to be the ω-spectrum (the limit points of the set of eigenvalues) of a Laplacian on C introduced by Pearson-Bellissard via noncommutative geometry.  相似文献

In J. Math. Anal. Appl. 189 (1995) 409-423, Corless and Pilyugin proved that weak shadowing is a C0 generic property in the space of discrete dynamical systems on a compact smooth manifold M. In our paper we give another proof of this theorem which does not assume that M has a differential structure. Moreover, our method also works for systems on some compact metric spaces that are not manifolds, such as a Hilbert cube (or generally, a countably infinite Cartesian product of manifolds with boundary) and a Cantor set.  相似文献

We prove that every countable acylindrically hyperbolic group admits a highly transitive action with finite kernel. This theorem uniformly generalizes many previously known results and allows us to answer a question of Garion and Glassner on the existence of highly transitive faithful actions of mapping class groups. It also implies that in various geometric and algebraic settings, the transitivity degree of an infinite group can only take two values, namely 1 and ∞. Here, by transitivity degree of a group we mean the supremum of transitivity degrees of its faithful permutation representations. Further, for any countable group G admitting a highly transitive faithful action, we prove the following dichotomy: Either G contains a normal subgroup isomorphic to the infinite alternating group or G resembles a free product from the model theoretic point of view. We apply this theorem to obtain new results about universal theory and mixed identities of acylindrically hyperbolic groups. Finally, we discuss some open problems.  相似文献

By means of the theory of bispaces we show that a countably compact T0 paratopological group (G, τ) is a topological group if and only if (G, τ ∨ τ-1) is ω-bounded (here τ-1 is the conjugate topology of τ). Our approach is premised on the fact that every paratopological countably compact paratopological group is a Baire space and on the notion of a 2-pseudocompact space. We also prove that every ω-bounded (respectively, topologically periodic) Baire paratopological group admits a weaker Hausdorff group topology. In particular, ω-bounded (respectively, topologically periodic) 2-pseudocompact (so, also countably compact) paratopological groups enjoy this property. Some topological properties turning countably compact topological semigroups into topological groups are presented and some open questions are posed.  相似文献

We give an affirmative answer to the following question: Is any Borel subset of a Cantor set C a sum of a countable number of pairwise disjoint h-homogeneous subspaces that are closed in X? It follows that every Borel set ${X \subset {\bf R}^n}$ can be partitioned into countably many h-homogeneous subspaces that are G ?? -sets in X.  相似文献

If X is a Cayley graph of a group G possessing a normal subgroup N, then there is a quotient graph of X which is a Cayley graph of GN. With the aid of this result, it is shown that the free product of at least two and at most countably many groups, each of which is at most countably generated, admits a graphical regular representation.  相似文献

Two linear orderings of a same set are perpendicular if the only self-mappings of this set that preserve them both are the identity and the constant mappings. Two linear orderings are orthogonal if they are isomorphic to two perpendicular linear orderings. We show that two countable linear orderings are orthogonal as soon as each one has two disjoint infinite intervals. From this and previously known results it follows in particular that each countably infinite linear ordering is orthogonal to itself.  相似文献

We study an invariant of dynamical systems called naive entropy, which is defined for both measurable and topological actions of any countable group. We focus on nonamenable groups, in which case the invariant is two-valued, with every system having naive entropy either zero or infinity. Bowen has conjectured that when the acting group is sofic, zero naive entropy implies sofic entropy at most zero for both types of systems. We prove the topological version of this conjecture by showing that for every action of a sofic group by homeomorphisms of a compact metric space, zero naive entropy implies sofic entropy at most zero. This result and the simple definition of naive entropy allow us to show that the generic action of a free group on the Cantor set has sofic entropy at most zero. We observe that a distal Γ-system has zero naive entropy in both senses, if Γ has an element of infinite order. We also show that the naive entropy of a topological system is greater than or equal to the naive measure entropy of the same system with respect to any invariant measure.  相似文献

Tkachenko showed in 1990 the existence of a countably compact group topology on the free Abelian group of size c using CH. Koszmider, Tomita and Watson showed in 2000 the existence of a countably compact group topology on the free Abelian group of size c2 using a forcing model in which CH holds.Wallace's question from 1955, asks whether every both-sided cancellative countably compact semigroup is a topological group. A counterexample to Wallace's question has been called a Wallace semigroup. In 1996, Robbie and Svetlichny constructed a Wallace semigroup under CH. In the same year, Tomita constructed a Wallace semigroup from MAcountable. In this note, we show that the examples of Tkachenko, Robbie and Svetlichny, and Koszmider, Tomita and Watson can be obtained using a family of selective ultrafilters. As a corollary, the constructions presented here are compatible with the total failure of Martin's Axiom.  相似文献

We show that if S is a countably infinite right cancellative semigroup and T is an infinite compact set of idempotents in the Stone–?ech compactification \(\beta S\) of S, then T contains an infinite compact left zero semigroup.  相似文献
