The paper studies a multiserver retrial queueing system withm servers. Arrival process is a point process with strictly stationary and ergodic increments. A customer arriving to the system occupies one of the free servers. If upon arrival all servers are busy, then the customer goes to the secondary queue, orbit, and after some random time retries more and more to occupy a server. A service time of each customer is exponentially distributed random variable with parameter μ1. A time between retrials is exponentially distributed with parameter μ2 for each customer. Using a martingale approach the paper provides an analysis of this system. The paper establishes the stability condition and studies a behavior of the limiting queue-length distributions as μ2 increases to infinity. As μ2→∞, the paper also proves the convergence of appropriate queue-length distributions to those of the associated “usual” multiserver queueing system without retrials. An algorithm for numerical solution of the equations, associated with the limiting queue-length distribution of retrial systems, is provided. AMS 2000 Subject classifications: 60K25 60H30.  相似文献

In this paper, we are concerned with the analytical treatment of an GI/M/1 retrial queue with constant retrial rate. Constant retrial rate is typical for some real world systems where the intensity of individual retrials is inversely proportional to the number of customers in the orbit or only one customer from the orbit is allowed to make the retrials. In our model, a customer who finds the server busy joins the queue in the orbit in accordance with the FCFS (first-come-first-out) discipline and only the oldest customer in the queue is allowed to make the repeated attempts to reach the server. A distinguishing feature of the considered system is an arbitrary distribution of inter-arrival times, while the overwhelming majority of the papers is devoted to the retrial systems with the stationary Poisson arrival process. We carry out an extensive analytical analysis of the queue in steady state using the well-known matrix analytic technique. The ergodicity condition and simple expressions for the stationary distributions of the system states at pre-arrival, post-arrival and arbitrary times are derived. The important and difficult problem of finding the stationary distribution of the sojourn time is solved in terms of the Laplace–Stieltjes transform. Little’s formula is proved. Numerical illustrations are presented.  相似文献

A pair of single server queues arranged in series is considered. The input flow is Poisson and service times are mutually independent and exponentially distributed in each station. The joint distributions of the stationary waiting times and queue lengths at the arrival epoch are treated.  相似文献

We consider a single server loss system in which arrivals occur according to a doubly stochastic Poisson process with a stationary ergodic intensity functionλ t . The service times are independent, exponentially distributed r.v.'s with meanμ −1, and are independent of arrivals. We obtain monotonicity results for loss probabilities under time scaling as well as under amplitude scaling ofλ t . Moreover, using these results we obtain both lower and upper bounds for the loss probability.  相似文献

This paper presents a multiserver retrial queueing system with servers kept apart, thereby rendering it impossible for one to know the status (idle/busy) of the others. Customers proceeding to one channel will have to go to orbit if the server in it is busy and retry after some time to some channel, not necessarily the one already tried. Each orbital customer, independently of others, chooses the server randomly according to some specified probability distribution. Further this distribution is identical for all customers. We assume that the same ‘orbit’ is used by all retrial customers, between repeated attempts, to access the servers. We derive the system state probability distribution under Poisson arrival process of external customers, exponentially distributed service times and linear retrial rates to access the servers. Several system state characteristics are obtained and numerical illustrations provided. AMS subject classification: Primary 60K25 60K20  相似文献

An M/G/1 retrial queue with two-phase service and feedback is studied in this paper, where the server is subject to starting failures and breakdowns during service. Primary customers get in the system according to a Poisson process, and they will receive service immediately if the server is available upon arrival. Otherwise, they will enter a retrial orbit and are queued in the orbit in accordance with a first-come-first-served (FCFS) discipline. Customers are allowed to balk and renege at particular times. All customers demand the first “essential” service, whereas only some of them demand the second “multi-optional” service. It is assumed that the retrial time, service time and repair time of the server are all arbitrarily distributed. The necessary and sufficient condition for the system stability is derived. Using a supplementary variable method, the steady-state solutions for some queueing and reliability measures of the system are obtained.  相似文献

Define the traffic intensity as the ratio of the arrival rate to the service rate. This paper shows that the BMAP/PH/s/s+K retrial queue with PH-retrial times is ergodic if and only if its traffic intensity is less than one. The result implies that the BMAP/PH/s/s+K retrial queue with PH-retrial times and the corresponding BMAP/PH/s queue have the same condition for ergodicity, a fact which has been believed for a long time without rigorous proof. This paper also shows that the same condition is necessary and sufficient for two modified retrial queueing systems to be ergodic. In addition, conditions for ergodicity of two BMAP/PH/s/s+K retrial queues with PH-retrial times and impatient customers are obtained. The paper deals with the assignment of a single server to two retrial queues. Each customer reapplies for service after an exponentially distributed amount of time. The server operates at customer dependent exponential rates. There are holding costs and costs during service per customer and per unit of time. We provide conditions on which it is optimal to allocate the server to queue 1 or 2 in order to minimize the expected total costs until the system is cleared.  相似文献

Summary This paper is concerned with the study of a newM/G/1 retrial queueing system in which the delays between retrials are exponentially distributed random variables with linear intensityg(n)=α+nμ, when there aren≥1 customers in the retrial group. This new retrial discipline will be calledlinear control policy. We carry out an extensive analysis of the model, including existence of stationary regime, stationary distribution of the embedded Markov chain at epochs of service completions, joint distribution of the orbit size and the server state in steady state and busy period. The results agree with known results for special cases.  相似文献

A stationary regime for polling systems with general ergodic (G/G) arrival processes at each station is constructed. Mutual independence of the arrival processes is not required. It is shown that the stationary workload so constructed is minimal in the stochastic ordering sense. In the model considered the server switches from station to station in a Markovian fashion, and a specific service policy is applied to each queue. Our hypotheses cover the purely gated, thea-limited, the binomial-gated and other policies. As a by-product we obtain sufficient conditions for the stationary regime of aG/G/1/ queue with multiple server vacations (see Doshi [11]) to be ergodic.Work presented at the INRIA/ORSA Conference on Applied Probability in Engineering, Computer and Communication Sciences, Paris, June 16–18, 1993.  相似文献

Consider a single server queue with unit service rate fed by an arrival process of the following form: sessions arrive at the times of a Poisson process of rate λ, with each session lasting for an independent integer time τ ⩾ 1, where P(τ = k) = p k with p k ~ αk −(1+α) L(k), where 1 < α < 2 and L(·) is a slowly varying function. Each session brings in work at unit rate while it is active. Thus the work brought in by each arrival is regularly varying, and, because 1 < α < 2, the arrival process of work is long-range dependent. Assume that the stability condition λE[τ] < 1 holds. By simple arguments we show that for any stationary nonpreemptive service policy at the queue, the stationary sojourn time of a typical session must stochastically dominate a regularly varying random variable having infinite mean; this is true even if the duration of a session is known at the time it arrives. On the other hand, we show that there exist causal stationary preemptive policies, which do not need knowledge of the session durations at the time of arrival, for which the stationary sojourn time of a typical session is stochastically dominated by a regularly varying random variable having finite mean. These results indicate that scheduling policies can have a significant influence on the extent to which long-range dependence in the arrivals influences the performance of communication networks. In this paper we consider a single server retrial queue where the server is subject to breakdowns and repairs. New customers arrive at the service station according to a Poisson process and demand i.i.d. service times. If the server is idle, the incoming customer starts getting served immediately. If the server is busy, the incoming customer conducts a retrial after an exponential amount of time. The retrial customers behave independently of each other. The server stays up for an exponential time and then fails. Repair times have a general distribution. The failure/repair behavior when the server is idle is different from when it is busy. Two different models are considered. In model I, the failed server cannot be occupied and the customer whose service is interrupted has to either leave the system or rejoin the retrial group. In model II, the customer whose service is interrupted by a failure stays at the server and restarts the service when repair is completed. Model II can be handled as a special case of model I. For model I, we derive the stability condition and study the limiting behavior of the system by using the tools of Markov regenerative processes.Visiting from Department of Applied Mathematics, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Cheongryang, Seoul, Korea.  相似文献

We consider a single server retrial queue with waiting places in service area and three classes of customers subject to the server breakdowns and repairs. When the server is unavailable, the arriving class-1 customer is queued in the priority queue with infinite capacity whereas class-2 customer enters the retrial group. The class-3 customers which are also called negative customers do not receive service. If the server is found serving a customer, the arriving class-3 customer breaks the server down and simultaneously deletes the customer under service. The failed server is sent to repair immediately and after repair it is assumed as good as new. We study the ergodicity of the embedded Markov chains and their stationary distributions. We obtain the steady-state solutions for both queueing measures and reliability quantities. Moreover, we investigate the stochastic decomposition law, the busy period of the system and the virtual waiting times. Finally, an application to cellular mobile networks is provided and the effects of various parameters on the system performance are analyzed numerically.  相似文献

We consider an M X /G/1 queueing system with two phases of heterogeneous service and Bernoulli vacation schedule which operate under a linear retrial policy. In addition, each individual customer is subject to a control admission policy upon the arrival. This model generalizes both the classical M/G/1 retrial queue with arrivals in batches and a two phase batch arrival queue with a single vacation under Bernoulli vacation schedule. We will carry out an extensive stationary analysis of the system , including existence of the stationary regime, embedded Markov chain, steady state distribution of the server state and number of customer in the retrial group, stochastic decomposition and calculation of the first moment.  相似文献

We consider a finite buffer capacity GI/GI/c/K-type retrial queueing system with constant retrial rate. The system consists of a primary queue and an orbit queue. The primary queue has \(c\) identical servers and can accommodate up to \(K\) jobs (including \(c\) jobs under service). If a newly arriving job finds the primary queue to be full, it joins the orbit queue. The original primary jobs arrive to the system according to a renewal process. The jobs have i.i.d. service times. The head of line job in the orbit queue retries to enter the primary queue after an exponentially distributed time independent of the length of the orbit queue. Telephone exchange systems, medium access protocols, optical networks with near-zero buffering and TCP short-file transfers are some telecommunication applications of the proposed queueing system. The model is also applicable in logistics. We establish sufficient stability conditions for this system. In addition to the known cases, the proposed model covers a number of new particular cases with the closed-form stability conditions. The stability conditions that we obtained have clear probabilistic interpretation.  相似文献

We consider ak-out-of-n system with repair. Life times of components are independent exponentially distributed random variables with parameter λ i when the number of working units isi. Failed units are taken for repair to a station, manned by a single server, having no waiting room. The failed units are brought to an orbit, if the server is found to be busy, for retrial. Reliability of the system is computed in the following three situations: (i) Cold system (ii) Warm system and (iii) Hot system. Several other system characteristics are derived.  相似文献

A discrete-time GI/G/1 retrial queue with Bernoulli retrials and time-controlled vacation policies is investigated in this paper. By representing the inter-arrival, service and vacation tlmes using a Markov-based approach, we are able to analyze this model as a level-dependent quasi-birth-and-death (LDQBD) process which makes the model algorithmically tractable. Several performance measures such as the stationary probability distribution and the expected number of customers in the orbit have been discussed with two different policies: deterministic time-controlled system and random time-controlled system. To give a comparison with the known vacation policy in the literature, we present the exhaustive vacation policy as a contrast between these policies under the early arrival system (EAS) and the late arrival system with delayed access (LAS-DA). Significant difference between EAS and LAS-DA is illustrated by some numerical examples.  相似文献

A sojourn time analysis is provided for a cyclic-service tandem queue with general decrementing service which operates as follows: starting once a service of queue 1 in the first stage, a single server continues serving messages in queue 1 until either queue 1 becomes empty, or the number of messages decreases to k less than that found upon the server's last arrival at queue 1, whichever occurs first, where 1 ≤ k ≤ ∞. After service completion in queue 1, the server switches over to queue 2 in the second stage and serves all messages in queue 2 until it becomes empty. It is assumed that an arrival stream is Poissonian, message service times at each stage are generally distributed and switch-over times are zero. This paper analyzes joint queue-length distributions and message sojourn time distributions.  相似文献
