In this paper we consider a semi-dicretized nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation with local integral nonlinearity. It is proved that for each mesh size, there exist attractors for the discretized system. The bounds for the Hausdorff and fractal dimensions of the discrete attractors are obtained, and the various bounds are independent of the mesh sizes. Furthermore, numerical experiments are given and many interesting phenomena are observed such as limit cycles, chaotic attractors and a so-called crisis of the chaotic attractors.  相似文献

In this paper, we discretize the generalized Ginzburg-Landau equations with the periodic boundary condition by the finite difference method in spatial direction. It is proved that for each mesh size, there exist at tractors for the discretized systems. The quality of the mesh used in the finite element discretizations will affect the efficiency of solving the discreted linear systems. The usual algebraic solvers except multigrid method do not consider the effect of the grid geometry and the mesh quality on their convergence rates. In this paper, we consider the hierarchical quadratic discretizations of three‐dimensional linear elasticity problems on some anisotropic hexahedral meshes and present a new two‐level method, which is weakly independent of the size of the resulting problems by using a special local block Gauss–Seidel smoother, that is LBGS_v iteration when used for vertex nodes or LBGS_m iteration for midside nodes. Moreover, we obtain the efficient algebraic multigrid (AMG) methods by applying DAMG (AMG based on distance matrix) or DAMG‐PCG (PCG with DAMG as a preconditioner) to the solution of the coarse level equation. The resulting AMG methods are then applied to a practical example as a long beam. The numerical results verify the efficiency and robustness of the proposed AMG algorithms. This article aims to study the unconditional superconvergent behavior of nonconforming quadrilateral quasi-Wilson element for nonlinear Benjamin Bona Mahoney (BBM) equation. For the generalized rectangular meshes including rectangular mesh, deformed rectangular mesh and piecewise deformed rectangular mesh, by use of the special character of this element, that is, the conforming part (bilinear element) has high accuracy estimates on the generalized rectangular meshes and the consistency error can reach order $O(h^2)$, one order higher than its interpolation error, the superconvergent estimates with respect to mesh size $h$ are obtained in the broken $H^1$-norm for the semi-/ fully-discrete schemes. A striking ingredient is that the restrictions between mesh size $h$ and time step $\tau$ required in the previous works are removed. Finally, some numerical results are provided to confirm the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

The Benjamin-Bona-Mahony (BBM) equation represents the unidirectional propagation of nonlinear dispersive long waves, which has a clear physical background, and is a more suitable mathematical and physical equation than the KdV equation. Therefore, the research on the BBM equation is very important. In this article, we put forward an effective algorithm, the modified hyperbolic function expanding method, to build the solutions of the BBM equation. We, by utilizing the modified hyperbolic function expanding method, obtain the traveling wave solutions of the BBM equation. When the parameters are taken as special values, the solitary waves are also derived from the traveling waves. The traveling wave solutions are expressed by the hyperbolic functions, the trigonometric functions and the rational functions. The modified hyperbolic function expanding method is direct, concise, elementary and effective, and can be used for many other nonlinear partial differential equations.  相似文献

Abstract

We consider a space semidiscretization of the Allen–Cahn equation by continuous piecewise linear finite elements. For every mesh parameter h, we build an exponential attractor of the dynamical system associated with the approximate equations. We prove that, as h tends to 0, this attractor converges for the symmetric Hausdorff distance to an exponential attractor of the dynamical system associated with the Allen–Cahn equation. We also prove that the fractal dimension of the exponential attractor and of the global attractor is bounded by a constant independent of h. Our proof is adapted from the result of Efendiev, Miranville and Zelik concerning the continuity of exponential attractors under perturbation of the underlying semigroup. Here, the perturbation is a space discretization. The case of a time semidiscretization has been analyzed in a previous paper.  相似文献

We introduce several mechanisms to dissipate the energy in the Benjamin-Bona-Mahony (BBM) equation. We consider either a distributed (localized) feedback law, or a boundary feedback law. In each case, we prove the global well-posedness of the system and the convergence towards a solution of the BBM equation which is null on a band. If the Unique Continuation Property holds for the BBM equation, this implies that the origin is asymptotically stable for the damped BBM equation.  相似文献

The discretization in space is based on the standard Galerkin method, for the time discretization the Crank–Nicolson scheme is used. In this work, two-grid characteristic finite volume schemes for the nonlinear parabolic problem are considered. In our algorithms, the diffusion term is discretized by the finite volume method, while the temporal differentiation and advection terms are treated by the characteristic scheme. Under some conditions about the coefficients and exact solution, optimal error estimates for the numerical solution are obtained. Furthermore, the two- grid characteristic finite volume methods involve solving a nonlinear equation on coarse mesh with mesh size H, a large linear problem for the Oseen two-grid characteristic finite volume method on a fine mesh with mesh size h = O(H2) or a large linear problem for the Newton two-grid characteristic finite volume method on a fine mesh with mesh size h = 0(I log hll/2H3). These methods we studied provide the same convergence rate as that of the characteristic finite volume method, which involves solving one large nonlinear problem on a fine mesh with mesh size h. Some numerical results are presented to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed methods.  相似文献

We show that the Benjamin–Bona–Mahoney (BBM) equation with power law nonlinearity can be transformed by a point transformation to the combined KdV–mKdV equation, that is also known as the Gardner equation. We then study the combined KdV–mKdV equation from the Lie group-theoretic point of view. The Lie point symmetry generators of the combined KdV–mKdV equation are derived. We obtain symmetry reduction and a number of exact group-invariant solutions for the underlying equation using the Lie point symmetries of the equation. The conserved densities are also calculated for the BBM equation with dual nonlinearity by using the multiplier approach. Finally, the conserved quantities are computed using the one-soliton solution.  相似文献

This paper discusses the existence and stability of solitary-wave solutions of a general higher-order Benjamin-Bona-Mahony (BBM) equation, which involves pseudo-differential operators for the linear part. One of such equations can be derived from water-wave problems as second-order approximate equations from fully nonlinear governing equations. Under some conditions on the symbols of pseudo-differential operators and the nonlinear terms, it is shown that the general higher-order BBM equation has solitary-wave solutions. Moreover, under slightly more restrictive conditions, the set of solitary-wave solutions is orbitally stable. Here, the equation has a nonlinear part involving the polynomials of solution and its derivatives with different degrees (not homogeneous), which has not been studied before. Numerical stability and instability of solitary-wave solutions for some special fifth-order BBM equations are also given.  相似文献
