This paper is mainly concerned with the dynamic response of an elastic foun- dation of finite height bounded to the surface of a saturated half-space.The foundation is subjected to time-harmonic vertical loadings.First, the transform solutions for the governing equations of the saturated media are obtained. Then, based on the assumption that the contact between the foundation and the half-space is fully relaxed and the half- space is completely pervious or impervious, this dynamic mixed boundary-value problem can lead to dual integral equations, which can be further reduced to the Fredholm integral equations of the second kind and solved by numerical procedures. In the numerical exam- ples, the dynamic compliances, displacements and pore pressure are developed for a wide range of frequencies and material/geometrical properties of the saturated soil-foundation system. In most of the cases, the dynamic behavior of an elastic foundation resting on the saturated media significantly differs from that of a rigid disc on the saturated half-space. The solutions obtained can be used to study a variety of wave propagation problems and dynamic soil-structure interactions.  相似文献

Summary The problem of a rigid punch pressed against and moved on the surface of an elastic or viscoelastic layer is studied. It is shown that the governing equations reduce to the same integral equation for the elastic contact problem. Two particular motions of the punch are considered. In the first case the punch moves at a constant speed along a straight line on the surface of a viscoelastic layer. In the second case the punch moves at a constant speed along a circular path. Finally, the special case of a punch moving on a layer of a standard linear viscoelastic solid is studied. The equation is identical to a punch of modified shape pressed on an elastic layer. The work presented here was supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant GK 35163 with the University of Illinois. With 1 figure  相似文献

We consider the problem of determining the singular stresses and electric fields in a piezoelectric ceramic strip containing an eccentric Griffith crack off the centre line bonded to two elastic half planes under anti-plane shear loading using the continuous crack-face condition. Fourier transforms are used to reduce the problem to the solution of two pairs of dual integral equations, which are then expressed to a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. Numerical values on the stress intensity factor and energy release rate are obtained.  相似文献

The fracture problem of a penny shaped crack in a piezoelectric ceramic cylinder surrounded by an infinite elastic medium under in-plane normal mechanical and electrical loads is considered with the electric continuous boundary conditions on the crack surface. By using the potential theory and Hankel transform, a system of dual integral equations is obtained, and expressed to a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. The mechanical and electrical field equations and all sorts of field intensity factors of mode I are obtained, and the numerical values of various field intensity factors for PZT-6B piezoelectric ceramic surrounded by several different elastic media are graphically shown for a uniform load and a ring-shaped load, respectively. And the effects of the size of the piezoelectric cylinder and the elastic material properties on various field intensity factors are obtained.  相似文献

Standing waves of a Timoshenko beamof finite length and their connectionwith running waves for an infinite beam are considered. It is shown that the principle of a “closed cycle” of a running wave is completely identical to the usual procedure of direct satisfaction from the side of the general solution for an infinite Timoshenko beam, to the boundary conditions of a beam of finite length. The question of the existence of a second frequency spectrum under arbitrary boundary conditions of a beam is discussed. A “relaxed approach” to the concept of the second frequency spectrum is proposed. The results of the theoretical analysis are confirmed by numerical calculations for the Timoshenko beam with elastic supports and elastic sealing of its end sections.  相似文献

Behavior of a polyatomic relaxed gas in the vicinity of a solid surface was studied. The case in which the size of the relaxation zone exceeds considerably the mean free path between the elastic collisions (suppressed exchange of translational and internal energies) was considered. A smooth validity of the asymptotic expansion for the distribution function with defined assumptions was indicated. A solution for the zero-approximation equation and boundary conditions for the surface flow, based on this solution and generalized model for a diffusive gas reflection from the surface were derived. The latter problem was partially studied in [1] by the Grad method and in [2] in terms of an analysis of the temperature jump.Translated from Zhurnal Prikladnoi Mekhaniki i Tekhnicheskoi Fiziki, No. 4, pp. 33–39, July–August, 1973.  相似文献

The Green's function is used to solve the scattering far field solution of SH-wave by a movable rigid cylindrical interface inclusion in a linear elastic body. First, a suitable Green's function is developed, which is the fundamental displacement solution of an elastic half space with a movable rigid half-cylindrical inclusion impacted by out-of-plane harmonic line source loaded at any point of its horizontal surface. By using the Green's function, a series of Fredholm integral equations of the first kind which determine the scattering far field can be set up. Then the paper gives the expressions on the far field including the displacement mode of scattering wave and the solution of scattering cross-section. Finally, some examples and numerical results are discussed to analyze the influence of the combination of different media parameters on the answer of far field.

The problem considered is that of torsion of an elastic half-space consisting of two materials which are separated by a cylindrical surface. It is assumed that there is perfect bonding at the common cylindrical surface. The torque is applied to the half-space through an annular rigid disc which is bonded to both materials. By use of integral transforms and the theory of dual integral equations the problem is reduced to that of solving a pair of simultaneous Fredholm integral equations of the second kind. These simultaneous integral equations are solved numerically. The numerical results obtained are exhibited graphically.Research for this paper was partially supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada through NSERC Grant No. A4177.  相似文献

In static wetting on an elastic substrate, force exerted by the liquid–vapour surface tension on a solid surface deforms the substrate, producing a capillary ridge along the contact line. This paper presents a finite element formulation for predicting elastic deformation, close to the static wetting line (with angle of contact=90o and σSV=σSL).The substrate deformation is modelled with the Mooney–Rivlin constitutive law for incompressible rubber‐like solids. At the contact line, a stress singularity is known to arise, due to the surface tension acting on a line of infinitesimal thickness. To relive the stress singularity, either (i) the surface tension is applied over a finite contact region (of macroscopic thickness), or (ii) the solid crease angle is fixed. These two options suggest that normal component of Neumann's triangle law of forces, for the three surface tensions, is not applicable for elastic substrates (as for rigid ones). The vertical displacement of the contact line is a strong function of liquid/vapour surface tension and shear modulus of the solid. Copyright 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A numerical integral scheme based on Fourier transformation approach is employed to investigate the effect of friction on subsurface stresses arising from the two-dimensional sliding contact of two multilayered elastic solids. The analysis incorporates bonded and unbonded interface boundary conditions between the coating layers. Two line contact problems are presented. The first one is the contact problem between a rigid cylinder and a two-layer half space and the second one is the indentation of a multilayered elastic half-space by a flat rigid punch. The effects of the surface coating on the contact pressure distribution and subsurface stress field are presented and discussed.  相似文献

A plane problem of forced oscillations of an ideal compressible liquid bounded from above by an elastic layer with a rough lower surface and an inverse geometric problem of determining the shape of the rough lower surface of an elastic layer from the wave characteristics on the upper surface are considered. Three methods are used to solve the direct problem: the small parameter method, the boundary element method, and the Born approximation. Solving the inverse problem is reduced to solving the integral Fredholm equation of the first kind. Results of a numerical experiment are presented.  相似文献

We study the influence of heterogeneities located near a planar surface on the elastic response of a three-dimensional elastic medium. These heterogeneities can be either reinforcements, like steel reinforcements in concrete, or defects, like micro-cracks periodically distributed. We prove that their influence is of the second order from an energetic viewpoint. Then, we propose an ??up to second order effective model?? in which the influence of the heterogeneities is given by a surface energy contribution involving both the jump of displacement across the surface and the tangential strain components on the surface. The effective coefficients entering in the definition of the surface energy are obtained by solving ??elementary?? elastic problems formulated on an infinite representative cell containing the defects. We analyze this model, in particular the properties of the effective surface coefficients, and establish its coherence with limit models previously described in the literature for stiff or soft interfaces. This approach is finally applied to several kinds of heterogeneities.  相似文献

Summary A solution is derived from equations of equilibrium in an infinite isotropic elastic solid containing a penny-shaped crack where displacements are given. Abel transforms of the second kind stress and displacement components at an arbitrary point of the solid are known in the literature in terms of jumps of stress and displacement components at a crack plane. Limiting values of these expressions at the crack plane together with the boundary conditions lead to Abel-type integral equations, which admit a closed form solution. Explicit expressions for stress and displacement components on the crack plane are obtained in terms of prescribed face displacements of crack surfaces. Some special cases of the crack surface shape functions have been given in the paper.  相似文献

We consider the propagation of elastic waves in gas-filled porous media at small but non-zero values of Knudsen numbers \( {\text{Kn}} \), where \( {\text{Kn}} = \lambda /l \), \( \lambda \) is the mean free path of gas molecules; \( l \) is the characteristic size of inclusion (the so-called slip regime). In this case, it is possible to apply the classic equations of hydrodynamics with modified boundary conditions at solid walls. We have assumed that the gas molecules distribution function is satisfied at the modified Maxwell boundary conditions (Struchtrup 2013; Mohammadzadeh and Struchtrup 2015). We have obtained the expressions for drag and added mass coefficients for the Biot equations of poroelasticity for a system of randomly oriented gas-filled cylindrical capillaries. Our calculations have shown that the drag and added mass coefficients depend considerably on the Knudsen number and the properties of the surface. The influence of the interfacial slip effect on the velocities of the compressional wave of the first kind and shear wave is small, but the velocity and attenuation of the compressional wave of the second kind are considerably influenced by this effect. The results obtained show the fundamental possibility of the determination of the accommodation coefficient by measuring the velocity of the compressional wave of the second kind for different values of the Knudsen number.  相似文献

Geckos and many insects have evolved elastically anisotropic adhesive tissues with hierarchical structures that allow these animals not only to adhere robustly to rough surfaces but also to detach easily upon movement. In order to improve our understanding of the role of elastic anisotropy in reversible adhesion, here we extend the classical JKR model of adhesive contact mechanics to anisotropic materials. In particular, we consider the plane strain problem of a rigid cylinder in non-slipping adhesive contact with a transversely isotropic elastic half space with the axis of symmetry oriented at an angle inclined to the surface. The cylinder is then subjected to an arbitrarily oriented pulling force. The critical force and contact width at pull-off are calculated as a function of the pulling angle. The analysis shows that elastic anisotropy leads to an orientation-dependent adhesion strength which can vary strongly with the direction of pulling. This study may suggest possible mechanisms by which reversible adhesion devices can be designed for engineering applications.  相似文献

The non-axisymmetrical vibration of elastic circular plate resting on a layered transversely isotropic saturated ground was studied.First, the 3-d dynamic equations in cylindrical coordinate for transversely isotropic saturated soils were transformed into a group of governing differential equations with 1-order by the technique of Fourier ex- panding with respect to azimuth, and the state equation is established by Hankel integral transform method, furthermore the transfer matrixes within layered media are derived based on the solutions of the state equation.Secondly,by the transfer matrixes, the general solutions of dynamic response for layered transversely isotropic saturated ground excited by an arbitrary harmonic force were established under the boundary conditions, drainage conditions on the surface of.ground as well as the contact conditions.Thirdly, the problem was led to a pair of dual integral equations describing the mixed boundary- value problem which can be reduced to the Fredholm integral equations of the second kind solved by numerical procedure easily. At the end of this paper,a numerical result concerning vertical and radical displacements both the surface of saturated ground and plate is evaluated.  相似文献

A direct central collision of two identical infinite cylindrical bodies is studied. A nonstationary plane elastic problem is solved. The variable boundary of the contact area is determined. A mixed boundary problem is formulated. Its solution is represented by Fourier series. An infinite system of Volterra equations of the second kind for the unknown expansion coefficients is derived by satisfying boundary conditions. The basic characteristics of the collision process are determined numerically depending on the curvature of the frontal surface of the bodies  相似文献
