In this study, a green approach has been described for the synthesis of copper sulfide nanoparticles loaded on activated carbon (CuS‐NP‐AC) and usability of it for the removal of sunset yellow (SY) dye by ultrasound‐assisted and stirrer has been compared. In addition, the artificial neural network (ANN) model has been employed for a forecasting removal percentage of SY dye using the results obtained. This material was characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The impact of variables, including initial dye concentration (mg/L), pH, adsorbent dosage (g), sonication time (min) and temperature (°C) on SY removal was studied. Fitting the experimental equilibrium data of different isotherm models such as Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Dubinin–Radushkevich models display the suitability and applicability of the Langmuir model. Analysis of experimental adsorption data of different kinetic models including pseudo‐first and second order, Elovich and intraparticle diffusion models indicate the applicability of the second‐order equation model. The adsorbent (0.005 g) is applicable for successful removal of SY dye (> 98%) in short time (9 min) under ultrasound condition. A three layer ANN models with 8 and 6 neurons at hidden layer was selected as optimal models using stirrer and ultrasonic, respectively. These models displayed a good agreement between forecasted data and experimental data with the determination coefficient (R2) of 0.9948 and 0.9907 and mean squared error (MSE) of 0.0001 and 0.0002 for training set using stirrer and ultrasonic, respectively.  相似文献

We studied the adsorption of Brilliant Yellow (BY) from aqueous solutions onto sepiolite and determined the adsorption equilibrium isotherms. We applied pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic models; the adsorption of BY onto sepiolite was best described by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The experimental data obtained at different temperatures were analyzed using various isotherm models; the Koble–Corrigan isotherm model provided the best fits for the BY adsorption data at all temperatures. The thermodynamic parameters of the BY adsorption onto sepiolite indicated that the adsorption process is spontaneous and exothermic in nature.  相似文献

A new biosorbent loquat (Eriobotrya japonica) leaves waste for removing cadmium (II) ions from aqueous solutions has been investigated. The extent of biosorption of Cd(II) ions was found to be dependent on solution pH, initial cadmium ion concentrations, biosorbent dose, contact time, and temperature. The experimental equilibrium biosorption data were analyzed by four widely used two-parameters Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, and Dubinin–Radushkevich isotherm equations. Langmuir and Temkin isotherm models provided a better fit with the experimental data than Freundlich and Dubinin–Radushkevich isotherm models by high correlation coefficients R2. The thermodynamic analysis indicated that the biosorption behavior of cadmium ions onto loquat leaves (LL) biosorbent was an endothermic process, resulting in higher biosorption capacities at higher temperatures. The negative sign values of ΔG0 and positive values of ΔH0 revealed that the biosorption process was spontaneous and endothermic. Kinetic studies showed that pseudo-second order described the biosorption experimental data better than the pseudo-first order kinetic model. The (LL) were successfully used for the biosorption of cadmium ions from contaminated water sources.  相似文献

Adsorptive behavior of natural clinoptilolite was assessed for removal of thorium from aqueous solutions. Natural zeolite was characterized by X-ray diffraction and X-ray fluorescence. The zeolite sample composed mainly of clinoptilolite. Na-exchanged form of zeolite was prepared and its sorption capacity for removal of thorium from aqueous solutions was examined. The effects of relevant parameters, including initial concentration, contact time, solid to liquid ratio, temperature and initial pH on the removal efficiency were investigated in batch studies. The pH strongly influenced thorium adsorption capacity and maximal capacity was obtained at pH 4.0. Kinetics and isotherm of adsorption were also studied. The pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, Elovich and intra-particle diffusion models were used to describe the kinetic data. The pseudo-second-order kinetic model provided excellent kinetic data fitting (R 2 > 0.999) with rate constant of 1.25, 1.37 and 1.44 g mmol−1 min−1 respectively for 25, 40 and 55 °C. The Langmuir and Freundlich models were applied to describe the equilibrium isotherms for thorium uptake and the Langmuir model agrees very well with experimental data. Thermodynamic parameters were determined and are discussed.  相似文献

The biosorption of Cu(II) ions on Cladophora crispata was investigated as a function of the initial pH, temperature and initial Cu(II) ion concentration. Algal biomass exhibited the highest Cu(II) uptake capacity at 25C and at the initial pH of 4.5. Equilibrium data fitted very well to both the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. The pseudo second order kinetic model was applied to describe the kinetic data and the rate constants were evaluated in the studied concentration range of Cu(II) ions at all the temperatures studied. The experimental data fitted well to the pseudo second order kinetic model with a high correlation coefficient (R2 > 0.99), which indicates that the external mass transfer limitations in the system can be neglected and the chemical sorption is the rate-limiting step. The pseudo second order kinetic constants were also used to calculate the activation energy of Cu(II) biosorption.  相似文献

The biosorption of nickel(II) ions from aqueous solution by Acacia leucocephala bark was studied in a batch adsorption system as a function of pH, initial metal ion concentration, adsorbent dosage, contact time and temperature. The maximum Ni(II) adsorption was obtained at pH 5. Further, the biosorbents were characterized by Fourier Transformer Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The experimental data were analysed using three sorption kinetic models viz., the pseudo-first- and second-order equations and the intraparticle diffusion model. Results show that the pseudo-second-order equation provides the best correlation for the biosorption process. The equilibrium nature of Ni(II) adsorption at different temperatures of 30, 40 and 50 °C have been described by the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. The equilibrium data fit well Langmuir isotherm. The monolayer adsorption capacity of A. leucocephala bark as obtained from Langmuir isotherm at 30 °C was found to be 294.1 mg/g. The Chi-square (χ2) and Sum of the square errors (SSE) tests were also carried out to find the best fit adsorption isotherm and kinetic model. Isotherms have been used to determine thermodynamic parameters of the process, viz., free energy change (ΔG°), enthalpy change (ΔH°), and entropy change (ΔS°) were calculated indicating that this system was a spontaneous and endothermic process. Present investigation emphasized that A. leucocephala bark may be utilized as a low cost adsorbent for nickel removal.  相似文献

In this study, biosorption of cobalt(II), chromium(III), cadmium(II), and lead(II) ions from aqueous solution was studied using the algae nonliving biomass (Neochloris pseudoalveolaris, Np) as natural and biological sorbents. The effect of pH, contact time, temperature, and metal concentration on the adsorption capacity of metal ions was investigated. The maximum adsorption capacities for Co(II), Cr(II), Cd(II), and Pb(II) were found to be 20.1, 9.73, 51.4 and 96.2 mg/g at the optimum conditions, respectively. The experiments showed that when pH increased, an increase in the adsorption capacity of the biomass was observed too. The kinetic results of adsorption obeyed a pseudo second-order model. Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm models were applied to experimental equilibrium data of metal ions adsorption and the value of R L for Pb(II), Cb,(II), Co(II), and Cr(III) was found to be 0.376, 0271, 0872, and 096, respectively. The thermodynamic parameters related to the adsorption process such as E a , ΔG 0, ΔH 0, and ΔS 0 were calculated. ΔH 0 values (positive) showed that the adsorption mechanism was endothermic. Weber-Morris and Urano-Tachikawa diffusion models were also applied to experimental equilibrium data. The algae biomass was effectively used as a sorbent for the removal of metal ions from aqueous solutions.  相似文献

In this study, an amidoximated chelating ion exchange resin was prepared by poly-acrylonitrile (PAN) grafted potato starch. The adsorbent characterizations such as specific surface area, pore volume, average pore radius, and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrum of the resin were measured. The effects of pH, adsorbent dosage, contact time, initial concentration of thorium ion, and temperature on adsorption of thorium ion from aqueous solutions were investigated. Four isotherm models including Langmuir, Freundlich, Dubinin-Radushkevich, and Temkin were applied to analyze the equilibrium isotherm data. The results showed that Langmuir and Temkin models had a good agreement with experimental data. The maximum capacity of the adsorbent using the Langmuir isotherm model was 227.27 mg · g?1. The kinetic models like pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, Elovich, and intraparticle were examined to describe the adsorption process. The kinetics of the adsorption process was found to follow the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The thermodynamic parameters (ΔG°, ΔH°, ΔS°) were also calculated using equilibrium constant values at various temperatures (25, 35, 45, 55°C) and the positive value for ΔH° showed an endothermic adsorption process. The study suggests that the prepared adsorbent has promising potential for the removal of thorium from wastewaters.   相似文献

The potential of using rice straw fly ash (RSFA) as low-cost adsorbents for the removal of hazardous azorhodanine (AR) dye from aqueous solution was investigated. The effects of different variables in the batch method as a function of solution pH, contact time, concentration of adsorbate, adsorbent dosage, and temperature were investigated, and optimal experimental conditions were ascertained: 0.05 g for initial dye concentration of 20–100 mg/L at pH 2. The experimental equilibrium data were tested by the isotherm models, namely the Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption and the isotherm constants were determined. The kinetic models, pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order, were employed to analyze the kinetic data. The activation energy of adsorption was also evaluated and found to be +10.89 kJ.mol?1, indicating that the adsorption is physisorption. Various thermodynamic parameters, such as Gibbs free energy, entropy, and enthalpy of the ongoing adsorption process, have been calculated and found to be spontaneous and exothermic, respectively.  相似文献

In this study, a novel organic–inorganic hybrid adsorbent for single‐step detection and removal of Pb(II) ions based on dithizone (DZ) anchored on mesoporous SBA‐15 was fabricated. The designed solid optical sensor revealed rapid colorimetric responses and high selectivity. Central composite design (CCD) combined with desirability function (DF) was applied to evaluate the interactive effects and optimization of important variables such as pH value, mesoporous SBA‐15 dosage, contact time and initial concentration of Pb(II) ions and optimum conditions for each of the factors were obtained 6.0, 25 mg, 30 min and 20 μg ml− 1, respectively. This adsorbent or solid optical chemo sensor exhibited a linear range of 1.0 to 100.0 μg ml−1 of Pb(II) ion concentration with a detection limit of 0.07 μg ml−1. This adsorbent was applied to determine and remove the Pb(II) in spiked samples. Various isotherm models such as Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Dubinin–Radushkevich were studied for fitting the experimental equilibrium data. Langmuir model was chosen as an efficient model. Various kinetic models such as pseudo‐first, second order intraparticle, diffusion models were studied for analysis of experimental adsorption data and the pseudo second order model was chosen as an efficient model.  相似文献

Manganese oxide nanocomposite (Mn2O3/Mn3O4) was prepared by sol-gel technique and used as an adsorbent. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM) were used to characterize the adsorbent. The response surface methodology (RSM) was employed to evaluate the effects of solution pH, initial Fe (III) ions concentration, adsorbent weight, and contact time on the removal ratio of the Fe (III) ions. A total of 27 adsorption experimental runs were carried out employing the detailed conditions designed based on the Box-Behnken design (BBD). Results showed that the pH of the solution and initial Fe (III) ions concentration were the most significant parameters for Fe (III) ions removal. In process optimization, the maximal value of the removal ratio of Fe (III) was achieved as 95.80%. Moreover, the corresponding optimal parameters of adsorption process were as: contact time?=?62.5?min, initial Fe (III) concentration?=?50?mg/L, adsorbent weight?=?0.5?g, and pH?=?5. The experimental confirmation tests showed a strong correlation between the predicted and experimental responses (R2?=?0.9803). The fitness of equilibrium data to common isotherm equations such as Langmuir, Freundlich, and Temkin were also tested. The sorption isotherm of adsorbent was best described by the Langmuir model. The kinetic data were analyzed using pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, intraparticle diffusion, and Elovich kinetic models. The adsorption kinetics of Fe (III) ions were well fitted with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model.  相似文献

In this study, an artificial neural network (ANN) trained by backpropagation algorithm, Levenberg–Marquadart, was applied to predict the yield of enzymatic synthesis of dioctyl adipate. Immobilized Candida antarctica lipase B was used as a biocatalyst for the reaction. Temperature, time, amount of enzyme, and substrate molar ratio were the four input variables. After evaluating various ANN configurations, the best network was composed of seven hidden nodes using a hyperbolic tangent sigmoid transfer function. The correlation coefficient (R 2) and mean absolute error (MAE) values between the actual and predicted responses were determined as 0.9998 and 0.0966 for training set and 0.9241 and 1.9439 for validating dataset. A simulation test with a testing dataset showed that the MAE was low and R 2 was close to 1. These results imply the good generalization of the developed model and its capability to predict the reaction yield. Comparison of the performance of radial basis network with the developed models showed that radial basis function was more accurate but its performance was poor when tested with unseen data. In further part of the study, the feedforward backpropagation model was used for prediction of the ester yield within the given range of the main parameters.  相似文献

An organic polymeric resin was synthesized by anchoring p ‐aminobenzoic acid onto macroporous chloromethylated polystyrene beads, and was used for Zn(II) removal from aqueous solutions. The resin exhibited an initially rapid adsorption property for Zn(II) with equilibrium time of 10 h and the maximum adsorption capability approached 184.5 mg g−1. Optimum pH was 4.5. The mechanism of adsorption was investigated using kinetic, isotherm and thermodynamic models. The adsorption kinetic data were described well by a pseudo second‐order model with R 2 of 0.997. There was a negative ΔG (−17.98 kJ mol−1) and positive ΔH (13.58 kJ mol−1). HCl solution (1.0 mol l−1) could achieve an elution rate of 100%. The experimental data were well fitted by the Thomas model with R 2 of 0.9826. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Magnetic nanoparticles with monodisperse shape and size were prepared by a simple method and covered by silica. The prepared core-shell Fe3O4@silica nanoparticles were functionalized by amino groups and characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) techniques. The synthesized nanoparticles were employed as an adsorbent for removal of Hg2+ from aqueous solutions, and the adsorption phenomena were studied from both equilibrium and kinetic point of views. The adsorption equilibriums were analyzed using different isotherm models and correlation coefficients were determined for each isotherm. The experimental data were fitted to the Langmuir–Freundlich isotherm better than other isotherms. The adsorption kinetics was tested for the pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order and Elovich kinetic models at different initial concentrations of the adsorbate. The pseudo-second-order kinetic model describes the kinetics of the adsorption process for amino functionalized adsorbents. The maximum adsorption occurred at pH 5.7 and the adsorption capacity for Fe3O4@silica-NH2 toward Hg2+ was as high as 126.7 mg/g which was near four times more than unmodified silica adsorbent.  相似文献

Oxalic acid adsorption from aqueous solution is studied in this work. Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) were used as an adsorbent. The investigated adsorption variables are equilibrium time, initial acid concentration, and temperature. The experimental results were presented using equilibrium isotherm and kinetic models. The used equilibrium models are Langmuir, Freundlich, and Temkin adsorption isotherms. And the kinetic models are Elovich, Lagergren pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic models. The thermodynamics studies were carried out at three different temperatures: 278, 298, and 318 K. Langmuir isotherm was the best fitted equilibrium model for the experimental data. The all applied kinetic models fitted the data suitably.  相似文献

Kinetic, equilibrium, and thermodynamic studies were performed for the batch adsorption of methylene blue (MB) on the high lime fly ash as a low cost adsorbent material. The studied operating variables were adsorbent amount, contact time, dye concentration, and temperature. The kinetic data were analyzed using the pseudo-first order and pseudo-second order kinetic models and the adsorption kinetic was followed well by the pseudo-second order kinetic model. The equilibrium data were fitted with the Freundlich, Langmuir, and Dubinin Radushkevich (D–R) isotherms and the equilibrium data were found to be well represented by the Freundlich and D–R isotherms. Based on these two isotherms MB is taken by chemical ion exchange and active sites on the high lime fly ash have different affinities to MB molecules. Various thermodynamic parameters such as enthalpy of adsorption (ΔH°), free energy change (ΔG°), and entropy change (ΔS°) were investigated. The positive value of ΔH° and negative value of ΔG° indicate that the adsorption is endothermic and spontaneous. The positive value of ΔS° shows the increased randomness at the solid–liquid interface during the adsorption. A single-stage batch adsorber was also designed based on the Freundlich isotherm for the removal of MB by the high lime fly ash.  相似文献

The kinetic and thermodynamic adsorption and adsorption isotherms of Pb(II) and Cu(II) ions onto H2SO4 modified chitosan were studied in a batch adsorption system. The experimental results were fitted using Freundlich, Langmuir and Dubinin–Radushkevich isotherms; the Langmuir isotherm showed the best conformity to the equilibrium data. The pseudo-first order, pseudo-second order and intraparticle diffusion kinetic models were employed to analyze the kinetic data. The adsorption behavior of Pb(II) and Cu(II) was best described by the pseudo-second order model. Thermodynamic parameters such as free energy change (ΔG°), enthalpy change (ΔH°) and entropy change (ΔS°) were determined; the adsorption process was found to be both spontaneous and exothermic. No physical damage to the adsorbents was observed after three cycles of adsorption/desorption using EDTA and HCl as eluents. The mechanistic pathway of the Pb(II) and Cu(II) uptake was examined by means of Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and Energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy. The equilibrium parameter (RL) indicated that chitosan–H2SO4 was favorable for Pb(II) and Cu(II) adsorption.  相似文献

The photocatalytic degradation of ciprofloxacin was investigated by developing a predictive mathematical model using response surface methodology and an artificial neural network. The four independent variables involve solution pH, reaction time, catalyst dose, and initial antibiotic concentration considered as factors in central composite design to observe the response in the form of antibiotic degradation. Accordingly, at an optimum antibiotic concentration of 5.02 mg/L, catalyst dose of 44.51 mg/L, solution pH of 5.04, and reaction time of 75.80 min, the photocatalysis method achieved a ciprofloxacin degradation of 88.30%. The experimental outputs were very much consistent along with the predicted output of experiments through response surface methodology (R2 = 0.9969) and artificial neural network (R2 = 0.975). The adsorption isotherm and kinetic study reveal that Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic models respectively were best fitted for degradation of ciprofloxacin through photocatalysis. The finding provides a novel method for evaluating the photocatalysis process for the optimization of ciprofloxacin antibiotic removal from pharmaceutical waste using experiments and computer simulation tools.  相似文献

Calpeptin analogs show anticancer properties with inhibition of calpain. In this work, we applied a quantitative structure–activity relationship (QSAR) model on 34 calpeptin derivatives to select the most appropriate compound. QSAR was employed to generate the models and predict the more significant compounds through a series of calpeptin derivatives. The HyperChem, Gaussian 09, and Dragon software programs were used for geometry optimization of the molecules. The 2D and 3D molecular structures were drawn by ChemDraw (Ultra 16.0) and Chem3D (Pro16.0) software. The Unscrambler program was used for the analysis of data. Multiple linear regression (MLR‐MLR), partial least‐squares (MLR‐PLS1), principal component regression (MLR‐PCR), a genetic algorithm‐artificial neural networks (GA‐ANN), and a novel similarity analysis‐artificial neural network (SA‐ANN) method were used to create QSAR models. Among the three MLR models, MLR‐MLR provided better statistical parameters. The R2 and RMSE of the prediction were estimated as 0.8248 and 0.26, respectively. Nevertheless, the constructed model using GA‐ANN revealed the best statistical parameters among the studied methods (R2 test = 0.9643, RMSE test = 0.0155, R2 train = 0.9644, RMSE train = 0.0139). The GA‐ANN model is found to be the most favorable method among the statistical methods and can be employed for designing new calpeptin analogs as potent calpain inhibitors in cancer treatment.  相似文献
