The present paper investigates the dynamic response of finite Timoshenko beams resting on a sixparameter foundation subjected to a moving load. It is for the first time that the Galerkin method and its convergence are studied for the response of a Timoshenko beam supported by a nonlinear foundation. The nonlinear Pasternak foundation is assumed to be cubic. Therefore, the efects of the shear deformable beams and the shear deformation of foundations are considered at the same time. The Galerkin method is utilized for discretizing the nonlinear partial differential governing equations of the forced vibration. The dynamic responses of Timoshenko beams are determined via the fourth-order Runge–Kutta method. Moreover, the efects of diferent truncation terms on the dynamic responses of a Timoshenko beam resting on a complex foundation are discussed. The numerical investigations shows that the dynamic response of Timoshenko beams supported by elastic foundations needs super high-order modes. Furthermore, the system parameters are compared to determine the dependence of the convergences of the Galerkin method.  相似文献

The present paper investigates the dynamic response of infinite Timoshenko beams supported by nonlinear viscoelastic foundations subjected to a moving concentrated force. Nonlinear foundation is assumed to be cubic. The nonlinear governing equations of motion are developed by considering the effects of the shear deformable beams and the shear modulus of foundations at the same time. The differential equations are, respectively, solved using the Adomian decomposition method and a perturbation method in conjunction with complex Fourier transformation. An approximate closed form solution is derived in an integral form based on the presented Green function and the theorem of residues, which is used for the calculation of the integral. The dynamic response distribution along the length of the beam is obtained from the closed form solution. The derivation process demonstrates that two methods for the dynamic response of infinite beams on nonlinear foundations with a moving force give the consistent result. The numerical results investigate the influences of the shear deformable beam and the shear modulus of foundations on dynamic responses. Moreover, the influences on the dynamic response are numerically studied for nonlinearity, viscoelasticity and other system parameters.  相似文献

A spectral finite element method is proposed to investigate the stochastic response of an axially loaded composite Timoshenko beam with solid or thin-walled closed section exhibiting bending–torsion materially coupling under the stochastic excitations with stationary and ergodic properties. The effects of axial force, shear deformation (SD) and rotary inertia (RI) as well as bending–torsion coupling are considered in the present study. First, the damped general governing differential equations of motion of an axially loaded composite Timoshenko beam are derived. Then, the spectral finite element formulation is developed in the frequency domain using the dynamic shape functions based on the exact solutions of the governing equations in undamped free vibration, which is used to compute the mean square displacement response of axially loaded composite Timoshenko beams. Finally, the proposed method is illustrated by its application to a specific example to investigate the effects of bending–torsion coupling, axial force, SD and RI on the stochastic response of the composite beam.  相似文献

Nonlinear dynamics of an inclined beam subjected to a moving load   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this paper, the nonlinear dynamic response of an inclined pinned-pinned beam with a constant cross section, finite length subjected to a concentrated vertical force traveling with a constant velocity is investigated. The study is focused on the mode summation method and also on frequency analysis of the governing PDEs equations of motion. Furthermore, the steady-state response is studied by applying the multiple scales method. The nonlinear response of the beam is obtained by solving two coupled nonlinear PDEs governing equations of planar motion for both longitudinal and transverse oscillations of the beam. The dynamic magnification factor and normalized time histories of mid-pint of the beam are obtained for various load velocity ratios and the outcome results have been illustrated and compared to the results with those obtained from traditional linear solution. The appropriate parametric study considering the effects of the linear viscous damping, the velocity of the traveling load, beam inclination angle under zero or nonzero axial load are carried out to capture the influence of the effect of large deflections caused by stretching effects due to the beam’s immovable ends. It was seen that quadratic nonlinearity renders the softening effect on the dynamic response of the beam under the act of traveling load. Also in the case where the object leaves the inclined beam, its planar motion path is derived and the targeting accuracy is investigated and compared with those from the rigid solution assumption. Moreover, the stability analysis of steady-state response for the modes equations having quadratic nonlinearity was carried out and it was observed from the frequency response curves that for the considered parameters in the case of internal-external primary resonance, both saturation phenomenon and jump phenomenon can be predicted for the longitudinal excitation.  相似文献

This paper investigates the steady-state periodic response and the chaos and bifurcation of an axially accelerating viscoelastic Timoshenko beam. For the first time, the nonlinear dynamic behaviors in the transverse parametric vibration of an axially moving Timoshenko beam are studied. The axial speed of the system is assumed as a harmonic variation over a constant mean speed. The transverse motion of the beam is governed by nonlinear integro-partial-differential equations, including the finite axial support rigidity and the longitudinally varying tension due to the axial acceleration. The Galerkin truncation is applied to discretize the governing equations into a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations. Based on the solutions obtained by the fourth-order Runge–Kutta algorithm, the stable steady-state periodic response is examined. Besides, the bifurcation diagrams of different bifurcation parameters are presented in the subcritical and supercritical regime. Furthermore, the nonlinear dynamical behaviors are identified in the forms of time histories, phase portraits, Poincaré maps, amplitude spectra, and sensitivity to initial conditions. Moreover, numerical examples reveal the effects of various terms Galerkin truncation on the amplitude–frequency responses, as well as bifurcation diagrams.  相似文献

In the present paper, the dynamic stability of multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs) embedded in an elastic medium is investigated including thermal environment effects. To this end, a nonlocal Timoshenko beam model is developed which captures small scale effects.Dynamic governing equations of the carbon nanotubes are formulated based on the Timoshenko beam theory including the effects of axial compressive force. Then a parametric study is conducted to investigate the influences of static load factor, temperature change, nonlocal parameter, slenderness ratio and spring constant of the elastic medium on the dynamic stability characteristics of MWCNTs with simply-supported end supports.  相似文献

In this work, theoretical and experimental analysis of a piezoelectric energy harvester with parametric base excitation is presented under combination parametric resonance condition. The harvester consists of a cantilever beam with a piezoelectric patch and an attached mass, which is positioned in such a way that the system exhibits 1:3 internal resonance. The generalized Galerkin’s method up to two modes is used to obtain the temporal form of the nonlinear electromechanical governing equation of motion. The method of multiple scales is used to reduce the equations of motion into a set of first-order differential equations. The fixed-point response and the stability of the system under combination parametric resonance are studied. The multi-branched non-trivial response exhibits bifurcations such as turning point and Hopf bifurcations. Experiments are performed under various resonance conditions. This study on the parametric excitation along with combination and internal resonances will help to harvest energy for a wider frequency range from ambient vibrations.

The generalized integral transform technique (GITT) is used to find a semianalytical numerical solution for dynamic response of an axially moving Timoshenko beam with clamped-clamped and simply-supported boundary conditions, respectively. The implementation of GITT approach for analyzing the forced vibration equation eliminates the space variable and leads to systems of second-order ordinary differential equations (ODEs) in time. The MATHEMATICA built-in function, NDSolve, is used to numerically solve the resulting transformed ODE system. The good convergence behavior of the suggested eigenfunction expansions is demonstrated for calculating the transverse deflection and the angle of rotation of the beam cross-section. Moreover, parametric studies are performed to analyze the effects of the axially moving speed, the axial tension, and the amplitude of external distributed force on the vibration amplitude of axially moving Timoshenko beams.  相似文献

This study analyses the nonlinear transverse vibration of an axially moving beam subject to two frequency excitation. Focus has been made on simultaneous resonant cases i.e. principal parametric resonance of first mode and combination parametric resonance of additive type involving first two modes in presence of internal resonance. By adopting the direct method of multiple scales, the governing nonlinear integro-partial differential equation for transverse motion is reduced to a set of nonlinear first order ordinary partial differential equations which are solved either by means of continuation algorithm or via direct time integration. Specifically, the frequency response plots and amplitude curves, their stability and bifurcation are obtained using continuation algorithm. Numerical results reveal the rich and interesting nonlinear phenomena that have not been presented in the existent literature on the nonlinear dynamics of axially moving systems.  相似文献

This paper describes a novel nondestructive damage detection method that was developed to study the influence of a crack on the dynamic properties of a cantilever beam subjected to bending. Experimental measurements of transfer functions for the cracked cantilever beam revealed a change in the natural frequency with increasing crack length. A finite element model of a cracked element was created to compute the influence of severity and location of damage on the structural stiffness. The proposed model is based on the response of the cracked beam element under a static load. The change in beam deflection as a result of the crack is used to calculate the reduction in the global component stiffness. The reduction of the beam stiffness is then used to determine its dynamic response employing a modal analysis computational model. Euler–Bernoulli and Timoshenko beam theories are used to quantify the elastic stiffness matrix of a finite element. The transfer functions from both theories compare well with the experimental results. The experimental and computational natural frequencies decreased with increasing crack length. Furthermore the Euler–Bernoulli and Timoshenko beam theories resulted in approximately the same decrease in the natural frequency with increasing crack length as experimentally measured.  相似文献

This paper develops a coupled dynamics model for a linear induction motor (LIM) vehicle and a subway track to investigate the influence of polygonal wheels of the vehicle on the dynamic behavior of the system. In the model, the vehicle is modeled as a multi-body system with 35 degrees of freedom. A Timoshenko beam is used to model the rails which are discretely supported by sleepers. The sleepers are modeled as rigid bodies with their vertical, lateral, and rolling motions being considered. In order to simulate the vehicle running along the track, a moving sleeper support model is introduced to simulate the excitation by the discrete sleeper supporters, in which the sleepers are assumed to move backward at a constant speed that is the same as the train speed. The Hertzian contact theory and the Shen- Hedrick-Elkins’ model are utilized to deal with the normal dynamic forces and the tangential forces between wheels and rails, respectively. In order to better characterize the linear metro system (LMS), Euler beam theory based on modal superposition method is used to model LIM and RP. The vertical electric magnetic force and the lateral restoring force between the LIM and RP are also taken into consideration. The former has gap-varying nonlinear characteristics, whilst the latter is considered as a constant restoring force of 1 kN. The numerical analysis considers the effect of the excitation due to polygonal wheels on the dynamic behavior of the system at different wear stages, in which the used data regarding the polygonal wear on the wheel tread are directly measured at the subway site.  相似文献

The present work is motivated by the well known stabilizing effect of parametric excitation of some dynamical systems such as the inverted pendulum. The possibility of suppressing wing flutter via parametric excitation along the plane of highest rigidity in the neighborhood of combination resonance is explored. The nonlinear equations of motion in the presence of incompressible fluid flow are derived using Hamilton's principle and Theodorsen's theory for modeling aerodynamic forces. In the presence of air flow, the bending and torsion modes possess nearly the same frequency. Under parametric excitation and in the absence of air flow, each mode oscillates at its own natural frequency. In the neighborhood of combination resonance, the nonlinear response is determined using the multiple scales method at the critical flutter speed and at slightly higher airflow speed. The domains of attraction and bifurcation diagrams are obtained to reveal the conditions under which the parametric excitation can provide stabilizing effect. The basins of attraction for different values of excitation amplitude reveal the stabilizing effect that takes place above a critical excitation level. Below that level, the response experiences limit cycle oscillations, cascade of period doubling, and chaos. For flow speed slightly higher than the critical flutter speed, the response experiences a train of spikes, known as ‘firing,’ a term that is borrowed from neuroscience, followed by ‘refractory’ or recovery effect, up to an excitation level above which the wing is stabilized. The results of the multiple scales method are verified using numerical simulation of the original nonlinear differential equations.  相似文献

Based on Timoshenko beam theory, the dynamic response of an elastically connected multiple-beam system is investigated. The identical prismatic beams are assumed to be parallel and connected by a finite number of springs. Assuming n parallel Timoshenko beams, the motion of the system is described by a coupled set of 2n partial differential equations. The method involves a change of variables and modal analysis to decouple and to solve the governing differential equations, respectively. A case study is solved in detail to demonstrate the methodology and several plots of the midpoint deflections of beams are given and investigated for different values of moving load velocity and the stiffness of elastic connections. From the numerical results it is observed that the maximum deflection of the multiple Timoshenko beam system is always smaller than one of a single beam.  相似文献

The nonlinear response characteristics for a dynamic system with a geometric nonlinearity is examined using a multibody dynamics method. The planar system is an initially straight clamped-clamped beam subject to high frequency excitation in the vicinity of its third natural mode. The model includes a pre-applied static axial load, linear bending stiffness and a cubic in-plane stretching force. Constrained flexibility is applied to a multibody method that lumps the beam into N elements for three substructures subjected to the nonlinear partial differential equation of motion and N-1 linear modal constraints. This procedure is verified by d'Alembert's principle and leads to a discrete form of Galerkin's method. A finite difference scheme models the elastic forces. The beam is tuned by the axial force to obtain fourth order internal resonance that demonstrates bimodal and trimodal responses in agreement with low and moderate excitation test results. The continuous Galerkin method is shown to generate results conflicting with the test and multibody method. A new checking function based on Gauss' principle of least constraint is applied to the beam to minimize modal constraint error.  相似文献

Models of geometrically nonlinear Euler-Bernoulli, Timoshenko, and Sheremet’ev-Pelekh beams under alternating transverse loading were constructed using the variational principle and the hypothesis method. The obtained differential equation systems were analyzed based on nonlinear dynamics and the qualitative theory of differential equations with using the finite difference method with the approximation O(h2) and the Bubnov-Galerkin finite element method. It is shown that for a relative thickness λ ⩽ 50, accounting for the rotation and bending of the beam normal leads to a significant change in the beam vibration modes.  相似文献

This paper is focused on nonlinear dynamics of a shell-shaped workpiece during high speed milling. The shell-shaped workpiece is modeled as a double-curved cantilevered shell subjected to a cutting force with time delay effects. Equations of motion are derived by using the Hamilton principle based on the classical shell theory and von Karman strain-displacement relation. The resulting nonlinear partial differential equations are reduced to a two-degree-of-freedom nonlinear system by applying the Galerkin approach. The averaging method is used to obtain four-dimensional averaged equations for the case of foundational parametric resonance and 1:2 internal resonance. Using a numerical method, the dynamics of the cantilevered shell-shaped workpiece is studied under time-delay effects, parametric excitation, and forcing excitation. It is found that time-delay parameters have great impact on chaotic motion. With increasing amplitude of forcing and parametric excitations, the shell-shaped workpiece exhibits different dynamic behavior.  相似文献
