The electronic structure and magnetic properties of B-based Heusler alloys Fe2YB (Y=Ti, V, Cr and Mn) have been studied theoretically. These alloys are all ferrimagnets except for Fe2VB. The latter has 24 valence electrons and is a paramagnetic semimetal. Fe2CrB is predicted to be half-metals at equilibrium lattice constant. The spin polarization of Fe2MnB is also quite high. The calculated total moments are 1.00 μB for Fe2CrB and 2.04 μB for Fe2MnB. In Fe2CrB and Fe2MnB, the total moments are mainly determined by the partial moment of Cr or Mn. The Fe moment is relatively small and antiparallel to that of Cr or Mn. Under uniform lattice distortion, the half-metallicity of Fe2CrB is more stable than Fe2MnB, which is related to the detailed DOS structure of them near EF.  相似文献

In order to gain better insight into the origin of the observed differences between Fe3−xCrxAl and Fe3−xCrxSi, alloys of Fe3−xCrxAl0.5Si0.5 (x=0, 0.125, 0.250, 0.375 and 0.5) were prepared and studied by means of X-ray and neutron diffraction as well as by magnetization measurements. Electronic structure calculations of these alloys have been performed by means of TB-LMTO-ASA method. It was expected, and experimentally verified, that the presence of silicon and aluminum atoms in 1:1 proportion will result in the independence of the lattice parameter on the iron/chromium concentration. All samples have been proved to be a single phase of the DO3-type of structure. Theoretical and experimental results indicate that chromium atoms locate preferentially in B sublattice. Cr magnetic moments are oriented antiparallel to Fe magnetic moments. Neutron measurements show a linear dependence of the magnetic moments of Fe(A,C), Fe(B) and Cr(B) as a function of Cr concentration. However the calculated total magnetic moment decreases faster with chromium content than indicated by the experiment.  相似文献

We present a theoretical study of the electronic and magnetic structure of the 3d-transition metals (M = V, Cr, Mn and Fe) in several overlayer systems. The electronic as well as magnetic structures are investigated for pseudomorphic overlayers (M/Ir(0 0 1)), ordered alloyed overlayers of the type M0.5Ir0.5/Ir(0 0 1) and ordered binary surface alloys of V, Cr, Mn and Fe transition metals on Ir(0 0 1) substrates. The calculations are performed with a self-consistent tight-binding method using the unrestricted Hartree-Fock approximation within the Hubbard model. We obtained metastable c(2 × 2) configurations for V, Cr and Mn and a p(1 × 1) configuration for Fe pseudomorphic overlayers. However, ferrimagnetic configuration has been obtained for the ordered surface alloys M0.5Ir0.5 and the binary alloyed overlayers on Ir(0 0 1) surfaces.  相似文献

The newly developed full-potential linearized augmented plane wave (LAPW) and local orbitals (lo) based on standard APW methods are briefly introduced, and the structure and magnetic properties of R(Fe, Si)12 compounds (R = Y, Nd) are calculated using the method. The distribution of Si at different sites is analyzed based on total energy of one crystal unit with structure having been optimized. The characters of magnetic moments, total density of states (TDOS) and partial density of states (PDOS) for different crystal sites Si occupies are obtained and analyzed. The results show that the total magnetic moments of RFe10Si2 (R = Y, Nd) are larger than those of RFe10 M 2 (M = Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Mo and W) and the hybridization mechanism is seen as follows. Si(8j) reduce the magnetic moments of Fe at three sites, however, Si(8f) mainly reduce the magnetic moments of Fe(8i) and Fe(8j) atoms. The Curie temperature is markedly enhanced by the introduction of Si atoms according to spin fluctuation of DOS at Fermi level.  相似文献

利用基于密度泛函理论的全势线性缀加平面波方法,结合广义梯度近似,对full-Heusler X2YGa(X=Co,Fe,Ni;Y=V,Cr,Mn)合金的电子结构、磁性及半金属特性进行了研究,并讨论了自旋-轨道耦合作用对它们的影响.计算结果表明,自旋-轨道耦合作用对full-Heusler X2YGa(X=Co,Fe,Ni;Y=V,Cr,Mn)合金的电子结构,磁性与半金属特性的影响很小. 当未考虑自旋-轨道耦合作用时,Co2VGa,Co2CrGa,和Fe2CrGa合金为半金属或准半金属铁磁体,加入自旋-轨道耦合作用后体系的自旋极化率将降低1%左右, 它们依然保持很高的自旋极化率.Fe2MnGa,Co2MnGa,Ni2CrGa和Ni2MnGa合金为一般铁磁体,Fe2VGa和Ni2VGa合金为顺磁体. 关键词: 半金属特性 自旋-轨道耦合 Heusler合金 全势线性缀加平面波方法(FLAPW)  相似文献

系统研究了室温下Tb0.3Dy0.7(Fe0.9T0.1)1.95(过渡金属元素T=Mn,Fe,Co,B,Al,Ga)合金中ⅢA族金属和过渡金属元素T替代Fe对结构、自旋重取向和穆斯堡尔谱的影响.结果发现,不同金属T替代Fe,Tb0.3Dy0.7(Fe0.9T0.1)1.95,合金具有相同的MgCu2型立方Laves相结构;Al,Ga替代使Tb0.3Dy0.7(Fe0.9T0.1)1.95合金的易磁化方向在{110}面逐渐偏离了立方晶体的主对称轴,即自旋重取向,B,Mn,Co替代未使易磁化轴发生明显转动;Al,Ga元素替代使超精细场Hhf略有下降,B,Mn替代对超精细场Hhf的影响不大,而Co元素替代使超精细场Hhf有较大增加;所有元素替代使同质异能移IS有所增加;B,Al,Ga和Mn替代使四极劈裂Qs增加,而Co替代使四极劈裂Qs下降. 关键词: 立方Laves相 自旋重取向 穆斯堡尔谱  相似文献

采用密度泛函理论中广义梯度近似对非典型富勒烯C22和过渡金属内掺衍生物M@C22(M=Sc,Ti,V,Cr,Mn,Fe,Co和Ni)的几何结构和电子结构进行计算研究.发现非典型富勒烯C22的基态结构是含有一个四碳环的单重态笼状结构.过渡金属原子的掺入明显提高了体系的稳定性. C-M键既有一定共价性又有一定离子性.磁性、能级图、轨道分布和态密度图分析表明: M原子的3d轨道和碳笼的C原子的原子轨道之间存在较强的轨道杂化. Ti, Cr, Fe和Ni内掺的结构出现磁性完全猝灭现象. Sc和碳笼间是弱反铁磁作用, V,Mn和Co与碳笼间是弱铁磁作用.  相似文献

Polycrystalline refractory metal-substituted Pr3(Fe0.6M0.1Co0.3)27.5Ti1.5 (M=V, Ti, Zr, Mo, Nb,Cr) and Pr3(Fe0.5Co0.5)27.5Ti1.5 have been studied for high-temperature permanent magnetic materials. X-ray diffraction showed the main phase to be the 3:29 phase. We observed the highest reported TC (Curie temperature) of 640 °C for the 3:29 system in the Pr3(Fe0.5Co0.5)27.5Ti1.5. In the refractory metal-substituted systems, the highest TC of 480 °C was observed for the Nb-substituted alloy. SEM measurements showed that Ti in Pr3(Fe0.6Ti0.1Co0.3)27.5Ti1.5 is deposited near the grain boundary. HA (anisotropy energy) of V-substituted alloy is as high as 72 kOe, the highest reported in the 3:29 system and is ∼200% higher than 24 kOe observed in Pr3(Fe0.7Co0.3)27.5Ti1.5. Cr and Ti substitutions show an increase of 65% (40 kOe) and 45% (35 kOe) in HA respectively. MS (saturation magnetization) values were ∼100 emu/g and are lower than that observed in Pr3(Fe0.7Co0.3)27.5Ti1.5.  相似文献

The effect of IIIA metal and transition metalT substitution for Fe on crystal structure, magnetostriction and spontaneous magnetostriction, anisotropy and spin reorientation of a series of polycrystalline Tb0.3 Dy0.7 (Fe0.9 T 0.1)1.95 (T=Mn, Fe, Co, B, Al, Ga) alloys at room temperature were investigated systematically. It was found that the primary phase of the Tb0.3 Dy0.7 (Fe0.9 T 0.1)1.95 alloys is the MgCu2-type cubic Laves phase structure for different substitution. The magnetostriction λ{ins} decrases greatly for the substitution of IIIA metal, B, Al and Ga, but is saturated more easily for Al and Ga substitution, showing that the Al and Ga substitution is beneficial to a decrease in the magnetocrystalline anisotropy of Tb0.3 Dy0.7 (Fe0.9 T 0.1)1.95 alloys. However, the substitution of transition metal Mn and Co decreases slightly the magnetostriction λ{ins}. It was also found that the effect of different substitutions on the spontaneous magnetostriction λ{in111} is distinct. The analysis of the M?ssbauer spectra indicates that the easy magnetization direction in the {110} plane deviates slightly from the main axis of symmetry for Al and Ga substitution, namely spin reorientation, but it does not change evidently for B, Mn and Co substitution.  相似文献

We performed density functional theory (DFT) calculations to study the structural, electronic and magnetic properties of Fe2MnSi1−xGex alloys (x=0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, and 1.00). The lattice constant is found to increase linearly as a function of Ge concentration with a decrease in the formation energy. The total magnetic moment is found to be 3 μB for all alloys with the most contribution from Mn local magnetic moments. Iron atoms, however, exhibit much smaller spin moments about 10% of the bulk value. It seems that due to the proximity of Fe, magnetic moments have been induced on the sp atoms, which couple antiferromagnetically with Fe and Mn spin moments. Although, the band gap remains almost constant (0.5 eV), the spin–flip gap decreases as a function of x.  相似文献

Electronic and magnetic properties of the bulk Co2Ti1−xFexGa Heusler alloys and Co2Ti0.5Fe0.5Ga (0 0 1) surfaces are studied within the framework of density functional theory using the augmented plane wave plus local orbital (APW+lo) approach. It will be shown that all alloys have the spin polarization of the ideal 100% value except the Co2FeGa alloy with spin polarization about 98%. Co2Ti0.5Fe0.5Ga is an example that is stable against the effects destroying the half-metallicity due to the position of the Fermi energy (EF) in the middle of the minority band gap. The phase diagram obtained by ab-initio atomistic thermodynamics shows that in the higher limit of μGa three surfaces of FeGa, TiGa and TiFeGa are accessible in the Co2Ti0.5Fe0.5Ga alloy but on decreasing μGa, the accessible region gradually moves towards FeGa termination. It is discussed that, at the ideal surfaces, half-metallicity of the alloy is lost, although the TiGa surface keeps high spin polarization (about 95%).  相似文献

Dilute alloys of the type Fe3?xTxSi (0?x?0.2), with T = V, Cr, Mn, Co, Ta, and W, were studied by means of neutron diffraction. The results indicate that V, Cr and Mn have a clear preference for the Fe site with 8 Fe first neighbors, Co for the Fe site with 4 Fe and 4 Si first neighbors, while only tentative conclusions can be drawn for Ta and W.  相似文献

The electronic structure and magnetic properties of Co-doped Heusler alloys (Mn1−xCox)2 VGa (x=0.0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0) have been studied by first-principles calculations. The results show that the lattice constants decrease with increasing Co content except x=1.0. The spin polarization for x=0.5 is only 34%, much lower than the other concentrations. The compounds of x=0.0, 0.25 show nearly half-metallicity because the Fermi level slightly touches the valence bands. And the compounds of x=0.75, 1.0 exhibit the half-metallic character with 100% spin polarization. It is found the local moments of Mn(Co) basically show a linear increasing trend while the moments of V show a linear decreasing trend with increasing doping concentration. However, the local moments for x=0.5 quite depart from the linear trend. The majority-spin component at the Fermi level increases while the minority-spin component at the Fermi level decreases with the substitution of Co atoms for Mn atoms when x≤0.75. For x≥0.75, the majority-spin component remains more or less the same and the gap in the minority DOS increases with Co doping. The majority spin states are shifted to valence bands and the majority spin states around EF increase due to a leakage of charge from the unoccupied spin-up states to the occupied majority states with increasing Co content.  相似文献

Polycrystalline Gd2MSbO7 (M =Cr,Mn,Fe,In) have been prepared from M2O3 (M = Cr, Fe, In), Mn metal and Sb2O3 at different temperatures above 1470 K. Gd2MSbO7 (M = Cr, Mn,Fe,In) are cubic, pyrochlore-type compounds, space group Fd3̄m (No. 227), Z = 8, a values varying from 10.266 (1) (M = Cr) to 10.486 (1) Å (M = In). For Gd in 16(c), M and Sb at random in 16(d) sites, oxygen atoms in 8(a) and 48(?) positions and x, oxygen positional parameter, equal to 0.412 (M = In) up to 0.425 (M = Mn), origin at center (3̄m), R values from 0.032 (M = In) to 0.041 (M = Mn) are obtained. Spin‐polarized density functional theory is used to study the TiO2 terminated interfaces between the magnetic Heusler alloys Co2Si (M = Ti, V, Cr, Mn, and Fe) and the non‐polar band insulator SrTiO3. The structural relaxation at the interface turns out to depend systematically on the lattice mis‐ match. Charge transfer from the Heusler alloys (mainly the M 3d orbitals) to the Ti dxy orbitals of the TiO2 interface layer is found to gradually grow from M = Ti to Fe, resulting in an electron gas with increasing density of spin‐polarized charge carriers. We have investigated the electronic and magnetic properties of the doped Heusler alloys Co2Cr1−xVxAl(x=0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1) using first-principles density functional theory within the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) scheme. The calculated results reveal that with increasing V content the lattice parameter slightly increases; both cohesive energy and bulk modulus increase with increasing x. The magnetic moment of the Co(Cr) sites increases with V doping; the total spin moment of these compounds linearly decreases. We also have performed the electronic structure calculations for Co2Cr1−xVxAl with positional disorder of Co-Y(Cr,V)-type and Al-Y(Cr,V)-type. It is found that formation of Al-Y-type disorder in Co2Cr1−xVxAl alloys is more favorable than that of Co-Y-type disorder. Furthermore, we found that Co2Cr1−xVxAl of the L21-type structure have a half-metallic character. And the stability of L21 structure will enhance, however, the Curie temperature decreases as the V concentration increases. The disorder between Cr(V) and Al does not significantly reduce the spin polarization of the alloys Co2Cr1−xVxAl.  相似文献

The electronic and magnetic structures of ordered double perovskites Ba2TMoO6 (T=V, Cr, Mn, Fe and Co) are systematically investigated by means of the first-principle linear muffin-tin orbitals with the atomic-sphere approximation (LMTO-ASA) method. The calculations are performed by using the both local spin density approximation (LSDA) and the LSDA+U Coulomb interaction schemes. The results show a half-metallic ferrimagnetic ground states for T=Cr, Fe and Co in LSDA+U treatment, whereas half-metallic ferromagnetic character is observed for T=V. For T=Mn, insulating ground state is obtained, stabilized in the antiferromagnetic state. The LSDA+U calculations yield better agreement with the theoretical and the experimental results than do the LSDA.  相似文献
