We study a nonlocal Venttsel' problem in a nonconvex bounded domain with a Koch‐type boundary. Regularity results of the strict solution are proved in weighted Sobolev spaces. The numerical approximation of the problem is carried out, and optimal a priori error estimates are obtained.  相似文献

We study a second order hyperbolic initial‐boundary value partial differential equation (PDE) with memory that results in an integro‐differential equation with a convolution kernel. The kernel is assumed to be either smooth or no worse than weakly singular, that arise for example, in linear and fractional order viscoelasticity. Existence and uniqueness of the spatial local and global Galerkin approximation of the problem is proved by means of Picard's iteration. Then, spatial finite element approximation of the problem is formulated, and optimal order a priori estimates are proved by the energy method. The required regularity of the solution, for the optimal order of convergence, is the same as minimum regularity of the solution for second order hyperbolic PDEs. An optimization control problem for systems described by abstract variational inequalities with state constraints is considered. The solvability of this problem is proved. The problem is approximated by the penalty method. The convergence of this method is proved. Necessary conditions of optimality for the approximation problem are obtained. Matrix rank minimization problems are gaining plenty of recent attention in both mathematical and engineering fields. This class of problems, arising in various and across-discipline applications, is known to be NP-hard in general. In this paper, we aim at providing an approximation theory for the rank minimization problem, and prove that a rank minimization problem can be approximated to any level of accuracy via continuous optimization (especially, linear and nonlinear semidefinite programming) problems. One of the main results in this paper shows that if the feasible set of the problem has a minimum rank element with the least Frobenius norm, then any accumulation point of solutions to the approximation problem, as the approximation parameter tends to zero, is a minimum rank solution of the original problem. The tractability under certain conditions and convex relaxation of the approximation problem are also discussed. An immediate application of this theory to the system of quadratic equations is presented in this paper. It turns out that the condition for such a system without a nonzero solution can be characterized by a rank minimization problem, and thus the proposed approximation theory can be used to establish some sufficient conditions for the system to possess only zero solution.  相似文献

We consider a nonconforming hp -finite element approximation of a variational formulation of the time-harmonic Maxwell equations with impedance boundary conditions proposed by Costabel et al. The advantages of this formulation is that the variational space is embedded in H1 as soon as the boundary is smooth enough (in particular it holds for domains with an analytic boundary) and standard shift theorem can be applied since the associated boundary value problem is elliptic. Finally in order to perform a wavenumber explicit error analysis of our problem, a splitting lemma and an estimation of the adjoint approximation quantity are proved by adapting to our system the results from Melenk and Sauter obtained for the Helmholtz equation. Some numerical tests that illustrate our theoretical results are also presented. Analytic regularity results with bounds explicit in the wavenumber of the solution of a general elliptic system with lower order terms depending on the wavenumber are needed and hence proved.  相似文献

The work is devoted to the study of weak solvability of the optimal feedback control problem for the Voigt model with variable density. The proof is based on the approximation-topological approach. First, the solvability of the approximation problem is proved, and then, based on a priori estimates that are independent of the approximation parameter, it is shown that from the sequence of solutions of the approximation problem, a subsequence converging to the solution of the original problem can be chosen. Then it is shown that among weak solutions to the problem there is at least one that gives a minimum to a given cost functional.

We consider the Stokes problem in an axisymmetric three-dimensional domain with data which are axisymmetric and have angular component equal to zero. We observe that the solution is also axisymmetric and the velocity has also zero angular component, hence the solution satisfies a system of equations in the meridian domain. The weak three-dimensional problem reduces to a two-dimensional one with weighted integrals. The latter is discretized by Taylor–Hood type finite elements. A weighted Clément operator is defined and approximation results are proved. This operator is then used to derive the discrete inf–sup condition and optimal a priori error estimates.  相似文献

A finite section method for the approximate solution of singular integral equations with piecewise continuous coefficients on intervals is considered. The problem is transformed in such a way that results which were previously obtained for singular integral equations on the unit circle using localization methods in Banach algebras are applicable to it. The article examines optimal synthesis methods for time-dependent deterministic systems with feedback (the regulator problem and the output problem). The linear problem is solved using the structure of optimal control. Nonlinear problems are reduced to the linear problem by linear and quadratic approximation. We study a vectorial approximation problem based on thin plate splines with tension involving two positive parameters: one for the control of the oscillations and the other for the control of the divergence and rotational components of the field. The existence and uniqueness of the solution are proved and the solution is explicitly given. As special cases, we study the limit problems as the parameter controlling the divergence and the rotation converges to zero or infinity. An iterative method is proposed to find a particular solution of a system of linear differential equations, in the form of a fixed-point problem, with no boundary conditions. To circumvent the unboundedness of differential operators, iterative approximation with gradually decreasing weight is used. Conditions for convergence that can easily be checked in numerical iterations are established. Furthermore, for the numerical iterative scheme, uniqueness and stability theorems are proved.
