Generalized Inverses of Matrices over Rings

Let R be a ring, * be an involutory function of the set of all finite matrices over R. In this paper, necessary and sufficient conditions are given for a matrix to have a (1,3)-inverse, (1,4)-inverse, or Moore-P enrose inverse, relative to *. Some results about generalized inverses of matrices over division rings are generalized and improved.     

Stable Finiteness of Group Rings in Arbitrary Characteristic

We show that every (discrete) group ring D[G] of a free-by-amenable group G over a division ring D of arbitrary characteristic is stably finite, in the sense that one-sided inverses in all matrix rings over D[G] are two-sided. Our methods use Sylvester rank functions and the translation ring of an amenable group.

Generalized inverses modulo ℋ in semigroups and rings

The definition of the inverse along an element was very recently introduced, and it contains known generalized inverses such as the group, Drazin and Moore–Penrose inverses. In this article, we first prove a simple existence criterion for this inverse in a semigroup, and then relate the existence of such an inverse in a ring to the ring units.     

Inner Generalized Inverses with Prescribed Idempotents

We define and characterize inner generalized inverses with prescribed idempotents. These classes of generalized inverses are natural algebraic extension of generalized inverses of linear operators with prescribed range and kernel. We consider the reverse order rule for inner generalized inverses of elements of a ring, some perturbation bounds, and we construct an iterative method for computing a (p, q)-inner inverse in Banach algebras.     

A note on matrix inversion

We generalize a recent result of Thompson on inverses of block matrices over principal ideal domains to isomorphisms of direct sums of modules over an arbitrary ring.
