The analytical continuation method is adopted to solve a mixed electric boundary value problem for a piezoelectric medium under anti-plane deformation. The crack face is partly conductive and partly impermeable. The results show that the stress intensity factor is identical with the mode III stress intensity factor independent of the conducting length. But the electric field and the electric displacement are dependent on the electric boundary conditions on the crack faces and are singular not only at the crack tips but also at the junctures between the impermeable part and conducting portions.  相似文献

Arbitrarily oriented crack near interface in piezoelectric bimaterials is considered. After deriving the fundamental solution for an edge dislocation near the interface, the present problem can be expressed as a system of singular integral equations by modeling the crack as continuously distributed edge dislocations. In the paper, the dislocations are described by a density function defined on the crack line. By solving the singular integral equations numerically, the dislocation density function is determined. Then, the stress intensity factors (SIFs) and the electric displacement intensity factor (EDIF) at the crack tips are evaluated. Subsequently, the influences of the interface on crack tip SIFs, EDIF, and the mechanical strain energy release rate (MSERR) are investigated. The J-integral analysis in piezoelectric bimaterals is also performed. It is found that the path-independent of J1-integral and the path-dependent of J2-integral found in no-piezoelectric bimaterials are still valid in piezoelectric bimaterials.  相似文献

Considering the dielectric effects inside a crack, the problem of an electrically dielectric crack in a functionally graded piezoelectric layer is addressed in this paper. The energetically consistent crack-face boundary conditions are utilized to analyze the effects of a dielectric of crack interior. Applying the Fourier transform technique, the boundary-value problem is reduced to solving three coupling singular equations. Then a system of non-linear algebraic equations is obtained and the field intensity factors along with the energy release rate are given. Numerical results show the differences of the electric displacement inside a crack, the stress and electric displacement intensity factors and the energy release rate using the permeable, impermeable, semi-permeable and energetically consistent boundary conditions respectively. The effects of the material non-homogeneity, the applied electric field and the discharge field of crack interior on the electrostatic traction acting on the crack faces and the energy release rate are further studied through the energetically consistent boundary conditions.  相似文献

There are three types of cracks: impermeable crack, permeable crack and conducting crack, with different electric boundary conditions on faces of cracks in piezoelectric ceramics, which poses difficulties in the analysis of piezoelectric fracture problems. In this paper, in contrast to our previous FEM formulation, the numerical analysis is based on the used of exact electric boundary conditions at the crack faces, thus the common assumption of electric impermeability in the FEM analysis is avoided. The crack behavior and elasto-electric fields near a crack tip in a PZT-5 piezoelectric ceramic under mechanical, electrical and coupled mechanical-electrical loads with different electric boundary conditions on crack faces are investigated. It is found that the dielectric medium between the crack faces will reduce the singularity of stress and electric displacement. Furthermore, when the permittivity of the dielectric medium in the crack gap is of the same order as that of the piezoelectric ceramic, the crack becomes a conducting crack, the applied electric field has no effect on the crack propagation. Extending the polarization saturation model [Gao et al., 1997. Local and global energy release rates for an electrically yielded crack in a piezoelectric ceramic. J. Mech. Phys. Solids 45, 491-510] and the dielectric breakdown (DB) model [Zhang et al., 2005. The strip dielectric breakdown model. Int. J. Fract. 132, 311-327] in piezoelectric materials, the Strip Electric-Magnetic Breakdown (SEMB) model is proposed for electrically and magnetically impermeable crack in a magnetoelectroelastic medium to study the effect of the nonlinear character of electric field and magnetic field on fracture of magnetoelectroelastic materials. In the SEMB model, the electric field in the strip of the electric breakdown zone ahead of the crack tip is equal to the electric breakdown strength, while the magnetic filed in the strip of the magnetic breakdown zone is equal to the magnetic breakdown strength. By using the extended Stroh formalism and the extended dislocation modeling of a crack, the Griffith crack problem under the electrically and magnetically elastic-plastic condition in a magnetoelectroelastic medium is reduced to a set of dual integral equations. The sizes of the electric breakdown zone and the magnetic breakdown zone, the extended intensity factors and the local J-integral are obtained. The effect of the combined mechanical-electric-magnetic loadings on the local J-integral is studied.  相似文献

This paper investigates the dynamic behaviour of a piezoelectric laminate containing multiple interfacial collinear cracks subjected to steady-state electro-mechanical loads. Both the permeable and impermeable boundary conditions are examined and discussed. Based on the use of integral transform techniques, the problem is reduced to a set of singular integral equations, which can be solved using Chebyshev polynomial expansions. Numerical results are provided to show the effect of the geometry of interacting collinear cracks, the applied electric fields, the electric boundary conditions along the crack faces and the loading frequency on the resulting dynamic stress intensity and electric displacement intensity factors.  相似文献

A flat annular crack in a piezoelectric layer subjected to electroelastic loadings is investigated under electrically impermeable boundary condition on the crack surface. Using Hankel transform technique, the mixed boundary value problem is reduced to a system of singular integral equations. With the aid of Gauss-Chebyshev integration technique, the integral equations are further reduced to a system of algebraic equations. The field intensity factor and energy release rate are determined. Numerical results reveal the effects of electric loadings and crack configuration on crack propagation and growth. The results seem useful for design of the piezoelectric structures and devices of high performance.  相似文献

Summary  The problem of an interface edge crack between two bonded quarter-planes of dissimilar piezoelectric materials is considered under the conditions of anti-plane shear and in-plane electric loading. The crack surfaces are assumed to be impermeable to the electric field. An integral transform technique is employed to reduce the problem under consideration to dual integral equations. By solving the resulting dual integral equations, the intensity factors of the stress and the electric displacement and the energy release rate as well as the crack sliding displacement and the electric voltage across the crack surfaces are obtained in explicit form for the case of concentrated forces and free charges at the crack surfaces and at the boundary. The derived results can be taken as fundamental solutions which can be superposed to model more realistic problems. Received 10 November 2000; accepted for publication 28 March 2001  相似文献

This paper investigates the singular electromechanical field near the crack tips of an internal crack. The crack is perpendicular to the interface formed by bonding two half planes of different functionally graded piezoelectric material. The properties of two materials, such as elastic modulus, piezoelectric constant and dielectric constant, are assumed in exponential forms and vary along the crack direction. The singular integral equations for impermeable and permeable cracks are derived and solved by using the Gauss–Chebyshev integration technique. It shows that the stresses and electrical displacements around the crack tips have the conventional square root singularity. The stress intensity and electric displacement intensity factors are highly affected by the material nonhomogeneity parameters β and γ. The solutions for some degenerated problems can also be obtained.  相似文献

This paper studies the internal crack problem located within one functionally graded piezoelectric strip. One crack is normal to the edge of the strip and the material properties vary along the direction of crack length. Three different boundary conditions and both impermeable and permeable cases are discussed. The problem can be reduced to a system of singular integral equations and solved by using the Gauss–Chebyshev formulas. The results show that the edge boundary conditions and the nonhomogeneous parameter significantly control the magnitudes of stress and electric displacement intensity factors.  相似文献

The behavior of two parallel non-symmetric cracks in piezoelectric materials subjected to the anti-plane shear loading was studied by the Schmidt method for the permeable crack electric boundary conditions. Through the Fourier transform, the present problem can be solved with two pairs of dual integral equations ip which the unknown variables are the jumps of displacements across crack surfaces. To solve the dual integral equations, the jumps of displacements across crack surfaces were directly expanded in a series of Jacobi polynomials. Finally, the relations between electric displacement intensity factors and stress intensity factors at crack tips can be obtained. Numerical examples are provided to show the effect of the distance between two cracks upon stress and electric displacement intensity factors at crack tips. Contrary to the impermeable crack surface condition solution, it is found that electric displacement intensity factors for the permeable crack surface conditions are much smaller than those for the impermeable crack surface conditions. At the same time, it can be found that the crack shielding effect is also present in the piezoelectric materials.  相似文献

This work deals with the mode III fracture problem of a cracked functionally graded piezoelectric surface layer bonded to a cracked functionally graded piezoelectric substrate. The cracks are normal to the interface and the electro-elastic material properties are assumed to be varied along the crack direction. Potential and flux types of boundary condition are assigned on the edge of the surface layer. The problem under the assumptions of impermeable and permeable cracks can be formulated to the standard singular integral equations, which are solved by using the Gauss–Chebyshev technique. The effects of the boundary conditions, the material properties and crack interaction on the stress and electric displacement intensity factors are discussed.  相似文献

The anti-plane problem of N arc-shaped interfacial cracks between a circular piezoelectric inhomogeneity and an infinite piezoelectric matrix is investigated by means of the complex variable method. Cracks are assumed to be permeable and then explicit expressions are presented, respectively, for the electric field on the crack faces, the complex potentials in media and the intensity factors near the crack-tips. As examples, the corresponding solutions are obtained for a piezoelectric bimaterial system with one or two permeable arc-shaped interfacial cracks, respectively. Additionally, the solutions for the cases of impermeable cracks also are given by treating an impermeable crack as a particular case of a permeable crack. It is shown that for the case of permeable interfacial cracks, the electric field is jumpy ahead of the crack tips, and its intensity factor is always dependent on that of stress. Moreover all the field singularities are dependent not only on the applied mechanical load, but also on the applied electric load. However, for the case of a homogeneous material with permeable cracks, all the singular factors are related only to the applied stresses and material constants.  相似文献

Using the hypersingular integral equation method based on body force method, a planar crack in a three-dimensional transversely isotropic piezoelectric solid under mechanical and electrical loads is analyzed. This crack problem is reduced to solve a set of hypersingular integral equations. Compare with the crack problems in elastic isotropic materials, it is shown that for the impermeable crack, the intensity factors for piezoelectric materials can be obtained from those for elastic isotropic materials. Based on the exact analytical solution of the singular stresses and electrical displacements near the crack front, the numerical method of the hypersingular integral equation is proposed by the finite-part integral method and boundary element method, which the square root models of the displacement and electric potential discontinuities in elements near the crack front are applied. Finally, the numerical solutions of the stress and electric field intensity factors of some examples are given.  相似文献

The problem of two unequal collinear straight cracks weakening a poled transversely isotropic piezoelectric ceramic is addressed under semi-permeable electric boundary conditions on the crack faces. The plate has been subjected to combined in-plane normal(to the faces of the cracks) mechanical and electric loads. Problem is formulated employing Stroh formalism and solved using complex variable technique. The elastic field, electric field and energy release rate are obtained in closed analytic form. A case study is presented for poled PZT-5H cracked plate to study the effect of prescribed mechanical load, electric load, inter-crack distance and crack lengths on crack arrest parameters stress intensity factor (SIF), electric displacement intensity factor (EDIF) and mechanical and total energy release rates (ERR). Moreover a comparative study is done of impermeable and semi-permeable crack face boundary conditions on SIF, EDIF and ERR, and results obtained is presented graphically. It is observed that the effect of dielectric medium in the crack gap cannot be ignored.  相似文献

For a crack in a magnetoelectroelastic plane under the electrically and magnetically semi-permeable boundary condition, we derive the non-linear analytical solution of the strip electric–magnetic polarization saturation (EMPS) model. Using the extended dislocation theory and integral equation method, we obtain the electric and magnetic yielding zones, as well as the field intensity factor and local J-integral. Adapting an iterative method, numerical examples were performed to analyze the effect of different boundary conditions and the electric–magnetic saturated properties on the electric displacement and magnetic induction in the crack cavity, electric and magnetic yielding zones, stress intensity factor and local J-integral.  相似文献

The assumptions of impermeable and permeable cracks give rise to significant errors in determining electro-elastic behavior of a cracked piezoelectric material. The former simply imposes that the permittivity or electric displacement of the crack interior vanishes, and the latter neglects also the effects of the dielectric of an opening crack interior. Considering the presence of the dielectric of an opening crack interior and the permeability of the crack surfaces for electric field, this paper analyzes electro-elastic behavior induced by a penny-shaped dielectric crack in a piezoelectric ceramic layer. In the cases of prescribed displacement or prescribed stress at the layer surfaces, the Hankel transform technique is employed to reduce the problem to Fredholm integral equations with a parameter dependent nonlinearly on the unknown functions. For an infinite piezoelectric space, a closed-form solution can be derived explicitly, while for a piezoelectric layer, an iterative technique is suggested to solve the resulting nonlinear equations. Field intensity factors are obtained in terms of the solution of the equations. Numerical results of the crack opening displacement intensity factors are presented for a cracked PZT-5H layer and the effect of applied electric field on crack growth are examined for both cases. The results indicate that the fracture toughness of a piezoelectric ceramic is affected by the direction of applied electric fields, dependent on the elastic boundary conditions.  相似文献

The dynamic response of multiple coplanar interface cracks between two dissimilar piezoelectric strips subjected to mechanical and electrical impacts is investigated. Solutions to two kinds of electric boundary conditions on crack surfaces, i.e. electric impermeable and electric permeable, are obtained. Laplace and Fourier transforms and dislocation density functions are employed to reduce the mixed boundary value problem to Cauchy singular integral equations, which can be solved numerically. The effects of electrical load, geometry criterion of piezoelectric strips, relative location of cracks and material properties on the dynamic energy release rate are examined.  相似文献
