Two mechanisms of self-confinement of wave packets on different carrying frequencies in monomode optical fibre are investigated. It is shown that the equations describing the processes possess a Hamiltonian structure. A new class of asymptotically free soliton solutions are found. The formation of Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) structures via electromagnetically induced interactions is analyzed within a semiclassical approach, wherein an improved interaction potential is obtained. This analysis shows how the laser-induced forces can lead to self-confinement of the ground state even with a homogeneous field. It furthermore indicates that the vector character of the field can be crucially important, since it can change the type of nonlinearity, thus strongly modifying the BEC structures. 相似文献

We analyze light self-confinement induced by multiple nonlinear resonances in a two-dimensional chi(2) photonic crystal. With reference to second-harmonic generation in a hexagonal lattice, we show that the system can not only support two-color (1+1)D solitary waves with enhanced confinement and steering capabilities but also enable novel features such as wavelength-dependent soliton routing. 相似文献

The behaviour of a disc-shaped dielectric resonator made of sintered alumina and working in the Whispering Gallery Mode (WGM) has been studied in the frequency interval from about 8 up to about 26 GHz. Many equidistant resonances have been detected in this frequency interval each of which being characterized by a satisfactoryQ-value due to the very good self-confinement of the microwave field which is typical of WGM propagation. Particular care has been devoted to the optimization of the coupling between the resonating disc and the microwave source. Examples of ESR spectra obtained on each of the detected resonances are reported which show the variation of the lineshape with the increase of the frequency. The obtained results allow one to foresee that the same dielectric disc can be used for ESR spectroscopy also at frequencies much higher than those up to now exploited. 相似文献

An experiment on receiving and identifying multiple optical orthogonal codes (MOOC) sequence-based optical labels in an optical packet switching (OPS) network is reported. Two groups of MOOC with a code length of 23 and a code weight of 3 are used to identify the optical labels. The scheme and principle of OPS networks based on MOOC sequence-based optical labels are presented. Because optical labels contain OPS and routing information, the importance of optical label processing with multiple inconsecutive, random, and burst optical labels in an OPS network is pointed out. Considering the MOOC-based optical labels, we design a circuit consisting of a broadened network and a cascaded amplifier to receive multiple groups of low-power narrow pulses (optical labels in the MOOC-OPS network) with a period of 2 ns. The successful experimental results demonstrate that the designed scheme is feasible. 相似文献

The nonlinear optical methods for generating and detecting terahertz radiation using periodically and aperiodically poled
crystals in the quasi-phase-matching mode are analyzed. Two radically different versions of optical pumping are considered:
a quasi-continuous mode and pumping by Fourier-limited femto-second pulses. General relations are obtained, which determine
the spectra of generated and detected waves through the optical pumping parameters and the crystal generator and crystal detector
nonlinear transfer functions. It is shown that, by choosing the optimal spatial modulation of the crystal nonlinear susceptibility,
one can control the shape of the generation and detection spectra. An optical scheme is proposed and the optimal parameters
of domain structures for quasi-phase-matched generation and frequency-matched detection of forward and backward terahertz

on a sinusoidal diffraction grating are studied theoretically with forth and
back light scattering relative to the direction of the incident beam. For

The performance of microphotonic-silicon devices in a geographically-distributed optical fiber network is experimentally investigated. Two different devices are tested: an optical filter based on a silicon ring resonator and an all-optical wavelength converter based on four-wave mixing in a dispersion-tailored highly nonlinear silicon waveguide. Tyvek is widely used as the inner lining material of water Cherenkov detectors. Therefore, information about its optical properties plays an important role in the simulation and reconstruction of particles passing through water Cherenkov detectors. In this paper, a water tank experiment is performed to study the Tyvek reflectivity in water. The so-called UNIFIED model, which is an optical model of surface reflection in Geant4, is adopted to describe the Tyvek reflectivity. We propose a scheme for realizing the optical nonreciprocal response based a four-mode optomechanical system,consisting of two charged mechanical modes and two linearly coupled optical modes. Two charged mechanical modes are coupled by Coulomb interaction, and two optical modes are coupled to one of mechanical modes by radiation pressure. We numerically evaluate the transmission probability of the probe field to obtain the optimum optical nonreciprocal response parameters. Also, we show that the optical nonreciprocal response is caused by the quantum interference between the optomechanical couplings and the linearly coupled interaction that breaks the time-reversal symmetry. 相似文献

An all-fiber approach to generate triangular-shaped pulses based on frequency-to-time conversion is proposed and demonstrated. Two filter modules that have sinusoidal spectral responses are cascaded to create a triangular-shaped optical spectrum. Through the frequency-to-time conversion in a dispersive fiber, periodic triangular pulses with the same shape as the optical spectrum are obtained. The repetition rate and pulse width of the generated signals can be tuned by adjusting the modulation rate and the dispersion value, respectively. 相似文献
