The structural and elastic properties of the antiperovskite semiconductor AsNMg3 are investigated using the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave plus local orbital (FP-LAPW+lo) method within the generalized gradient in the frame of the density functional theory. The ground state properties such as lattice constant, bulk modulus, pressure derivative of the bulk modulus and elastic constants are in good agreement with numerous experimental and theoretical data. Through the quasi-harmonic Debye model, in which the phononic effects are considered, we have obtained successfully the thermodynamic properties such as the thermal expansion coefficient, Debye temperature and specific heats in the whole pressure range from 0 to 30 GPa and temperature range from 0 to 1200 K.  相似文献

First principles study of structural, elastic, electronic and optical properties of the cubic perovskite-type BaHfO3 has been reported using the pseudo-potential plane wave method within the local density approximation. The calculated equilibrium lattice is in a reasonable agreement with the available experimental data. The elastic constants and their pressure dependence are calculated using the static finite strain technique. A linear pressure dependence of the elastic stiffnesses is found. Band structures show that BaHfO3 is a direct band gap between the occupied O 2p and unoccupied Hf d states. The variation of the gap versus pressure is well fitted to a quadratic function. Furthermore, in order to understand the optical properties of BaHfO3, the dielectric function, absorption coefficient, optical reflectivity, refractive index, extinction coefficient, and electron energy loss are calculated for radiation up to 30 eV. We have found that O 2p states and Hf 5d states play a major role in the optical transitions as initial and final states, respectively. This is the first quantitative theoretical prediction of the elastic, electronic and optical properties of BaHfO3 compound, and it still awaits experimental confirmation.  相似文献

A theoretical study of structural, electronic and optical properties of cubic BaTiO3 and BaZrO3 perovskites is presented, using the full-potential linear augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) method as implemented in the WIEN2K code. In this approach the local density approximation (LDA) is used for the exchange-correlation (XC) potential. Results are given for lattice constant, bulk modulus, its pressure derivative, band structure, density of states, pressure coefficients of energy gaps and refractive indices. The results are compared with previous calculations and experimental data.  相似文献

Using the first-principles full-potential linear muffin-tin orbital method within the local density approximation, we have studied the structural, elastic, thermodynamic, and electronic properties of the ideal-cubic perovskite BiGaO3. It is found that this compound has an indirect band gap. The valence band maximum (VBM) is located at Γ-point, whereas the conduction band minimum (CBM) is located at X-point. The pressure and volume dependences of the energy band gaps have been calculated. The elastic constants at equilibrium are also determined. We derived the bulk and shear moduli, Young’s modulus, and Poisson’s ratio. The thermodynamic properties are predicted through the quasi-harmonic Debye model, in which the lattice vibrations are taken into account. The variation of the bulk modulus, heat capacities, and Debye temperature with pressure and temperature are successfully obtained.  相似文献

We have investigated structural and elastic properties of PtN2 under high pressures using norm-conserving pseudopotentials within the local density approximation (LDA) in the frame of density-functional theory. Calculated results of PtN2 are in agreement with experimental and available theoretical values. The a/a0, V/V0, ductility/brittleness, elastic constants Cij, shear modulus C′, bulk modulus B, shear modulus G, Young's modulus E, Poisson's ratio σ and anisotropy factor A as a function of applied pressure are presented. Through the quasi-harmonic Debye model, we also study thermodynamic properties of PtN2. The thermal expansion versus temperature and pressure, thermodynamic parameters X (X=Debye temperature or specific heat) with varying pressure P, and heat capacity of PtN2 at various pressures and temperatures are estimated.  相似文献

A model pseudopotential depending on an effective core radius treated as a parameter is used for alkaline earth metals in bcc and fcc phases to study the Binding energy, Interatomic interactions, phonon dispersion curves, Phonon density of states, Debye-Waller factor, mean square displacement, Debye-Waller temperature parameters, dynamical elastic constants (C11, C12 and C44), bulk modulus (B), shear modulus (C′), deviation from Cauchy relation (C12C44), Poisson's ratio (σ), Young's modulus (Y), behavior of phonon frequencies in the elastic limit independent of the direction (Y1), limiting value in the [1 1 0] direction (Y2), degree of elastic anisotropy (A) and propagation velocities of the elastic waves. The contribution of s-like electrons is incorporated through the second-order perturbation theory due to model potential. The theoretical results are compared with the existing experimental data. A good agreement between theoretical investigations and experimental findings has confirmed the ability of our potential to yield large numbers of lattice mechanical properties of certain alkaline earth metals.  相似文献

We have investigated the structural, elastic and electronic properties of the anti-perovskite TlNCa3 using ab initio calculations within the generalized gradient approximation and the local density approximation for the exchange–correlation potential. The lattice constant, bulk modulus, elastic constants and their pressure dependence, energy band structures, density of states and charge density distribution are calculated and analyzed in comparison with the available experimental and theoretical data. The bulk modulus, shear modulus, Young’s modulus, Poisson’s ratio, Lamé’s coefficients, average sound velocity and Debye temperature are numerically estimated for ideal polycrystalline TlNCa3 aggregates in the framework of the Voigt–Reuss–Hill approximation. This is the first theoretical prediction of the elastic constants and their related properties for TlNCa3 that requires experimental confirmation.  相似文献

Using first-principles density functional calculations, the effect of high pressures, up to 40 GPa, on the structural and elastic properties of ANCa3, with A = P, As, Sb, and Bi, were studied by means of the pseudo-potential plane-waves method. Calculations were performed within the local density approximation and the generalized gradient approximation for exchange-correlation effects. The lattice constants are in good agreement with the available results. The elastic constants and their pressure dependence are calculated using the static finite strain technique. We derived the bulk and shear moduli, Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio and Lamé's constants for ideal polycrystalline ANCa3 aggregates. By analysing the ratio between the bulk and shear moduli, we conclude that ANCa3 compounds are brittle in nature. We estimated the Debye temperature of ANCa3 from the average sound velocity. This is the first quantitative theoretical prediction of the elastic properties of PNCa3, AsNCa3, SbNCa3, and BiNCa3 compounds, and it still awaits experimental confirmation.  相似文献

The structure, elastic properties and elastic anisotropy of orthorhombic OsB2 are investigated by density functional theory method with the ultrasoft pseudopotential scheme in the frame of the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) as well as local density approximation (LDA). The obtained structural parameters, elastic constants, elastic anisotropy and Debye temperature for OsB2 under pressure are consistent with the available experimental data and other theoretical results. It is found that the elastic constants, bulk modulus and Debye temperature of OsB2 tend to increase with increasing pressure. It is predicted that OsB2 is not a superhard material from our calculations.  相似文献

The structural parameters, elastic, electronic, and optical properties of hexagonal BiAlO3 were investigated by the density functional theory. The calculated structural parameters are in good agreement with previous calculation and experimental data. The structural stability of BiAlO3 has been confirmed by calculation of the elastic constants. The energy band structure, density of states, and Mulliken charge populations were obtained. BiAlO3 presents an indirect band gap of 3.28 eV. Furthermore, the optical properties were calculated and analyzed. It is shown that BiAlO3 is a promising dielectric material.  相似文献

First-principles calculations of the crystal structure and the elastic properties of RuB2 have been carried out with the plane-wave pseudopotential density functional theory method. The calculated values are in very good agreement with experimental data as well as with some of the existing model calculations. The elastic constants cij, the aggregate elastic moduli (B, G, E), Poisson's ratio, and the elastic anisotropy with pressure have been investigated. Through the quasi-harmonic Debye model considering the phonon effects, the isothermal bulk modulus, the thermal expansions, Grüneisen parameters, and Debye temperatures depending on the temperature and pressure are obtained in the whole pressure range from 0 to 60 GPa and temperature range from 0 to 1100 K as well as compared to available data.  相似文献

First principle calculations of elastic properties under pressure of the filled tetrahedral semiconductors LiZnN, LiZnP and LiZnAs are presented, using the pseudo-potential plane-waves approach based on density functional theory, within the local density approximation. Elastic constants, bulk modulus, Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio are calculated at zero pressure. A linear dependence of the bulk modulus and elastic constants with applied pressure is found. As the experimental elastic constants are not available for LiZnX, we have also calculated the elastic constants of GaN, GaP and GaAs, the binary analogues of LiZnN, LiZnP and LiZnAs, respectively, for checking the reliability and accuracy of our predicted results for LiZnX. The obtained results agree well with the available experimental data.  相似文献

The structural, elastic, electronic, and thermodynamic properties of the cubic NaAlO3-perovskite are calculated using the full potential linearized augmented plane wave with local orbital (FP-LAPW)+lo. The exchange-correlation energy, is treated in generalized gradient approximation (GGA) using the Perdew–Burke–Ernzerhof (PBE) parameterization. The calculated equilibrium parameter is in good agreement with other works. The bulk modulus, elastic constants and their related parameters, such as Young modulus, shear modulus, and Poisson ratio were predicted. The electronic band structure of this compound has been calculated using the Angel-Vosko (EV) generalized gradient approximation (GGA) for the exchange correlation potential. We deduced that NaAlO3-perovskite exhibit a wide-gap which it is an indirect from R to Γ point. The analysis of the density of states (DOS) curves shows ionic and covalent character bond for Al–O and Na–O respectively.  相似文献

Using first-principles calculations, we have studied the structural and elastic properties of M2SnC, with M=Ti, Zr, Nb and Hf. Geometrical optimization of the unit cell is in good agreement with the available experimental data. The effect of high pressures, up to 20 GPa, on the lattice constants shows that the contractions along the a-axis were higher than those along the c-axis. We have observed a quadratic dependence of the lattice parameters versus the applied pressure. The elastic constants and their pressure dependence are calculated using the static finite strain technique. A linear dependence of the elastic stiffnesses on the pressure is found. We derived the bulk and shear moduli, Young's moduli and Poisson's ratio for ideal polycrystalline M2SnC aggregates. We estimated the Debye temperature of M2SnC from the average sound velocity. This is the first quantitative theoretical prediction of the elastic properties of Ti2SnC, Zr2SnC, Nb2SnC, and Hf2SnC compounds.  相似文献

We report a detailed theoretical calculation of the electronic band structure of CeO2 in cubic and orthorhombic phases under pressure using a tight-binding linear muffin-tin orbital method (TB-LMTO) within local density approximation (LDA). The compressibility behavior of this compound was discussed in the light of the changes occurring in the electronic structure. Apart from the electronic band structure and structural stability calculations, the density of states (DOS) and Fermi energies (Ef) at various pressures are calculated. The calculated lattice parameter, transition pressure, bulk modulus and the pressure-volume relation are found out to be in good agreement with experimental results.  相似文献

The electronic, structural properties and optical properties of the rutile TiO2 have been reported using the full potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) method as implemented in the WIEN2K code. We employed the generalized gradient approximation (GGA), which is based on exchange-correlation energy optimization to calculate the total energy. Also we have used the Engel-Vosko GGA formalism, which optimizes the corresponding potential for band structure calculations. Our results including lattice parameter, bulk modulus, density of states, the reflectivity spectra, the refractive index and band gap are compared with the experimental data. We present calculations of the frequency-dependent complex dielectric function ε(ω) and its zero-frequency limit ε1(0).  相似文献

Structural, elastic, electronic and thermal properties of the MAX phase Nb2SiC are studied by means of a pseudo-potential plane-wave method based on the density functional theory. The optimized zero pressure geometrical parameters are in good agreement with the available theoretical data. The effect of high pressure, up to 40 GPa, on the lattice constants shows that the contractions along the c-axis were higher than those along the a-axis. The elastic constants Cij and elastic wave velocities are calculated for monocrystal Nb2SiC. Numerical estimations of the bulk modulus, shear modulus, Young’s modulus, Poisson’s ratio, average sound velocity and Debye temperature for ideal polycrystalline Nb2SiC aggregates are performed in the framework of the Voigt-Reuss-Hill approximation. The band structure shows that Nb2SiC is an electrical conductor. The analysis of the atomic site projected densities and the charge density distribution shows that the bonding is of covalent-ionic nature with the presence of metallic character. The density of states at Fermi level is dictated by the niobium d states; Si element has a little effect. Thermal effects on some macroscopic properties of Nb2SiC are predicted using the quasi-harmonic Debye model, in which the lattice vibrations are taken into account. The variations of the primitive cell volume, volume expansion coefficient, bulk modulus, heat capacity and Debye temperature with pressure and temperature in the ranges of 0-40 GPa and 0-2000 K are obtained successfully.  相似文献

The pressure-volume-temperature (P-V-T) equation of state (EOS), isothermal bulk modulus, and thermal expansivity of CaF2 with cubic fluorite-type structure are investigated using the constant temperature and pressure shell model molecular dynamics (MD) method with effective pair potentials which consist of the Coulomb, dispersion, and repulsion interaction. It was shown that MD simulation is very successful in accurately reproducing the measured volumes of the CaF2 over a wide range of pressures. The simulated P-V data matched X-ray diffraction experimental results up to 9.5 GPa at 300 K. In addition, volume thermal-expansion coefficient and isothermal bulk modulus were also calculated and compared with available experimental data and the latest theoretical results at ambient condition. At extended temperature and pressure ranges, The P-V EOS under different isotherms at selected temperatures, T-V EOS under different isobars at selected pressures, thermal expansivity, and isothermal bulk modulus were predicted up to 1500 K and 10 GPa. The detailed knowledge of thermodynamic behavior and EOS at extreme conditions are of fundamental importance to the understanding of the physical properties of CaF2.  相似文献

We present the results of our calculations on Boron antimony (BSb) compound in zinc-blende (ZB) and rock-salt (RS) structures by performing ab initio calculations within the local density approximation (LDA). Some basic physical properties, such as lattice constant, bulk modulus, cohesive energy, phase transition pressure, second-order elastic constants (Cij), phonon frequencies, and some band structural parameters are calculated and compared with those obtained with other recent theoretical works. In order to further understand the behaviour of BSb compound, we have also predicted, the pressure-dependent behaviours of the band gap, second-order elastic constants (Cij), Young's modulus, poison ratios (ν), Anizotropy factor (A), sound velocities, and Debye temperature for this hypothetical compound.  相似文献

The structural, elastic, electronic properties and Debye temperature of Ni3Ta under different pressures are investigated using the first-principles method based on density functional theory. Our calculated equilibrium lattice parameters at 0 GPa well agree with the experimental and previous theoretical results. The calculated negative formation enthalpies and elastic constants both indicate that Ni3Ta is stable under different pressures. The bulk modulus B, shear modulus G, Young’s modulus E and Poisson’s ratio ν are calculated by the Voigt–Reuss–Hill method. The bigger ratio of B/G indicates Ni3Ta is ductile and the pressure can improve the ductility of Ni3Ta. In addition, the results of density of states and the charge density difference show that the stability of Ni3Ta is improved by the increasing pressure. The Debye temperature Θ D calculated from elastic modulus increases along with the pressure.  相似文献
