Regular stibnite (Sb(2)S(3)) nanorods with diameters of 20-40 nm and lengths of 220-350 nm have been successfully synthesized by a sonochemical method under ambient air from an ethanolic solution containing antimony trichloride and thioacetamide. The as-prepared Sb(2)S(3) nanorods are characterized by employing techniques including X-ray powder diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray analysis, transmission electron microscopy, selected area electron diffraction, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and optical diffuse reflection spectroscopy. Microstructural analysis reveals that the Sb(2)S(3) nanorods crystallize in an orthorhombic structure and predominantly grow along the (001) crystalline plane. High-intensity ultrasound irradiation plays an important role in the formation of these Sb(2)S(3) nanorods. The experimental results show that the sonochemical formation of stibnite nanorods can be divided into four steps in sequence: (1) ultrasound-induced decomposition of the precursor, which leads to the formation of amorphous Sb(2)S(3) nanospheres; (2) ultrasound-induced crystallization of these amorphous nanospheres and generation of nanocrystalline irregular short rods; (3) a crystal growth process, giving rise to the formation of regular needle-shaped nanowhiskers; (4) surface corrosion and fragmentation of the nanowhiskers by ultrasound irradiation, resulting in the formation of regular nanorods. The optical properties of the Sb(2)S(3) amorphous nanospheres, irregular short nanorods, needle-shaped nanowhiskers, and regular nanorods are investigated by diffuse reflection spectroscopic measurements, and the band gaps are measured to be 2.45, 1.99, 1.85, and 1.94 eV, respectively.  相似文献

Preparation and optical properties of worm-like gold nanorods   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A type of worm-like nanorods was successfully synthesized through conventional gold nanorods reacting with Na2S2O3 or Na2S. The generated worm-like gold nanorods comprise shrunk nanorod cores and enwrapped shells. Therefore, a gold-gold sulfide core-shell structure is formed in the process, distinguishing from their original counterparts. The formation of the gold chalcogenide layers was confirmed by transmission electron microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Experimental results showed that the thickness of the gold chalcogenide layers is controllable. Since the increase of shell thickness and decrease of gold nanorod core take place simultaneously, it allows one to tune the plasmon resonance of nanorods. Proper adjustment of reaction time, temperature, additives and other experimental conditions will produce worm-like gold nanorods demonstrating desired longitudinal plasmon wavelength (LPW) with narrow size distributions, only limited by properties of starting original gold nanorods. The approach presented herein is capable of selectively changing LPW of the gold nanorods. Additionally, the formed worm-like nanorods possess higher sensitive property in localized surface plasmon resonance than the original nanorods. Their special properties were characterized by spectroscopic methods such as Vis-NIR, fluorescence and resonance light scattering. These features imply that the gold nanorods have potential applications in biomolecular recognition study and biosensor fabrications.  相似文献

Boron and nitrogen codoped TiO2 nanorods (BNTRs) were synthesized via two-step hydrothermal reactions using TiN as a starting material. The as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy techniques. The results showed that TiO2 nanorods with the diameter of approximately 50–100 nm and the length of several micrometers were doped by the interstitial N and B. The nanorods were firstly formed in the hydrothermal synthesis of nitrogen doped TiO2. The growing process of nanorods was observed by SEM and a most probable formation mechanism of the trititanate nanorods was proposed. The BNTRs showed a higher photocatalytic activity and a bigger photocurrent response than N–TiO2 nanorods under visible light irradiation.  相似文献

<正>Silver nanorods have been successfully synthesized in large scale by the ethylene glycol(EG) reduction in the presence of ionic liquid(IL) 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate(bmimBF_4) and polyvinyl-pyrrolidone(PVP).The silver nanorods were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),electron energy disperse spectroscopy(EDS) and UV-vis spectroscopy. The results showed that the uniform silver nanorods have an average diameter of about 100 nm and the aspect ratio from 15 to 20.IL,bmimBF_4 may play a role of capping agent together with PVP in the formation of silver nanorods. On the other band,bmimBF_4 may accelerate nucleation and improve the stability of the resulting Ag nanorods due to the low interface tension of IL.  相似文献

The ternary semiconductor CdIn(2)S(4) nanorods were synthesized by a method based on CdS nanorods via the hydrothermal route, in which CdS nanorods were converted by reaction with InCl(3) and thiourea in aqueous solution. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images revealed that the typical sizes of the CdIn(2)S(4) nanorods were 10-30 nm in diameter and 200-1000 nm in length. X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS) analysis of the surface stoichiometry (CdIn(2.03)S(4.15)) and room-temperature Raman spectrum (RS) were recorded. The influences of reaction temperature, time, and sulfur sources on the formation for CdIn(2)S(4) nanorods were investigated. A possible formation mechanism of the CdIn(2)S(4) nanorods was also proposed.  相似文献

Fabrication and self-assembly of hydrophobic gold nanorods   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Hydrophobic gold nanorods were fabricated from hydrophilic gold nanorods coated with hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide by treating with mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane (MPS) and subsequently octadecyltrimethoxysilane (ODS). The fabrication of the hydrophobic shell went through the process of (1) binding MPS onto the nanorods, (2) hydrolysis of methoxysilanes, and (3) immobilization of ODS by dehydration condensation. The 2- or 3-D ordered structures of hydrophobic nanorods were self-assembled by the evaporation of solvent on a substrate. The aspects of 2-D assemblies were dependent on the concentration of the nanorods, as was seen in transmission electron microscopic images. At a low concentration, the nanorods assembled parallel to the substrate, whereas they stood on the substrate at a high concentration. On the other hand, in a solid of the gold nanorods, the formation of the 3-D assembly was confirmed by small-angle X-ray scattering. The assembly consisted of hexagonal arrays of the gold nanorods and their lamellar accumulation.  相似文献

The formation process of titania based nanorods during hydrothermal synthesis starting from an amorphous TiO2.nH2O gel has been investigated. Sodium tri-titanate (Na2Ti3O7) particles with a rodlike morphology were prepared by a simple hydrothermal process in the presence of a concentrated NaOH aqueous solution. The ion exchange reaction of the synthesized Na2Ti3O7 nanorods with HCl under ultrasonic treatment promotes a complete sodium substitution and the formation of H2Ti3O7 nanorods. Low-temperature annealing of the as-produced nanorods of Na2Ti3O7 and H2Ti3O7 leads to a loss of the layered crystal structure and the formation of nanorods of condensed framework phases-sodium hexa-titanate (Na2Ti6O13) and metastable TiO2-B phases, respectively. These transformations proceed without a significant change in particle morphology. The nanostructures were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) method, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and Raman spectroscopy. The structural defects of the synthesized nanorods were investigated by high-resolution electron microscopy. The presence of planar defects can be attributed to the exfoliation of the zigzag ribbon layers into two-dimensional titanates as well as to the condensation of the layers of TiO6 octahedra into three-dimensional frameworks.  相似文献

Uniform Eu3+-doped SiO2 nanorods were synthesized through a simple sol–gel method using cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as surfactant template and tetraethylorthosilicate as silicon source. X-ray diffraction, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectrum, scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscopy, and photoluminescence spectra were employed to characterize the products in detail. The nanorods have good uniformity and their diameters and lengths are in the range of 200–300 and 500–700 nm through the SEM images, respectively. The formation of the nanorods was studied by taking SEM images after different aging time. The experimental results indicate that CTAB plays a crucial role in the formation of the silica nanorods. The luminescence of Eu3+-doped SiO2 nanorods is dominated by red-emission around 612 nm due to intra-atomic 4f → 4f (5D0 → 7F2) transition of Eu3+ ions. Furthermore, the effect of doping concentrations of Eu3+ ions on the luminescence was investigated.  相似文献

A novel seed-assisted chemical reaction at 95 degrees C has been employed to synthesize uniform, straight, thin, and single-crystalline ZnO nanorods on a hectogram scale. The molar ratio of ZnO seed and zinc source plays a critical role in the preparation of thin ZnO nanorods. At a low molar ratio of ZnO seed and zinc source, javelin-like ZnO nanorods consisting of thin ZnO nanorods with a diameter of 100 nm and thick ZnO nanorods with a diameter of 200 nm have been obtained. In contrast, straight ZnO nanorods with a diameter of about 20 nm have been prepared. Dispersants such as poly(vinyl alcohol) act spatial obstructors to control the length of ZnO nanorods. The morphology, structure, and optical property of the ZnO nanostructures prepared under different conditions have been characterized by transmission electron microscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and cathodoluminescence. The formation mechanisms for the synthesized nanostructures with different morphologies have been phenomenologically presented.  相似文献

A simple, easy approach to the synthesis of semiconductor ZnS nanorods and nanoparticles exhibiting versatile morphology-formation ability is reported. Water-insoluble zinc sulfide nanocrystals were synthesized in ternary water-in-oil (w/o) microemulsion systems stabilized by either nonionic or, in contrast, cationic surfactant. Products were visualized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and identified by energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX); electron diffraction (ED) was also performed for individual nanorods. With varying molar ratios of water to surfactant (omega0) in solution, hence changing droplet sizes of water pool of microemulsions consequently, several morphologies with different size spans were encountered in the formation of ZnS, such as nanorods and spherical or ellipsoidal particles. Meanwhile, product morphology was also found to be sensitive to the absolute reactant concentration and concentration ratio of [Zn2+] to [S2-], the incubation time, and the ambient temperature. A schematic mechanism for the formation of ZnS nanocrystals and their morphological diversity is described. It is feasible to extend this method to the synthesis of one-dimensional nanocrystals of other semiconductors, given suitable formulae of microemulsions and other appropriate reaction conditions.  相似文献

AgCuSe nanorods were prepared at room temperature by a redox reaction. The as-prepared product was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.X-ray powder diffraction shows that the as-prepared product is the tetragonal phase of AgCuSe. Transmission electron microscopy shows that the sample consists of nanorods with a diameter varying from 5 nm to 20 nm and a length varying from 200 nm to 600 nm. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy shows that the purity of the sample is high. The formation mechanism of AgCuSe and the growth mechanism of AgCuSe nanorods were discussed.Thermodynamic calulations show that the final product in the synthetic system is pure AgCuSe. The solvent ethylenediamine did not only acts a didentate ligand to form relatively state Ag + and Cu + complexes, but also dissolved Se and enhanced the reactivity of Se. It played an important role in controlling the nucleation and growth of AgCuSe nanorods.  相似文献

An effective method for the synthesis of LiFe(0.975)Rh(0.025)PO(4) nanorods to serve as a cathode material for lithium-ion batteries is described. During their preparation, L-lysine was used as the growth director of nanorods. The contribution from chloride ions to the formation of the unique nanorods was also investigated. The samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, M?ssbauer measurements, scanning electron microscopy, electronic conductivity measurements, and transmission electron microscopy. The pH of the solution played a key role in controlling the particle size of the samples. The sample prepared at a pH of 9.5 exhibited excellent electrochemical performance. It delivered an initial discharge capacity of 143.1 mA h g(-1), and a capacity fade of only 7.7% was observed after 200 cycles at 2.5 C over a voltage range of 2.0-4.2 V. Furthermore, its discharge capacity remained stable for values as high as 20 C. The excellent electrochemical performance of LiFe(0.975)Rh(0.025)PO(4) nanorods can be attributed their unique nanorod structure, which limits the distance of lithium ion diffusion in the electrode material to the radius of the nanorods and decreases the surface-film resistance for the charge-transfer process.  相似文献

Semiconductor alpha-MoTe2 nanorods have been synthesized by annealing Te-seeded particles of an amorphous MoTe2 intermediate. This intermediate is prepared by a solution reaction between Mo(CO)6 and elemental Te in diphenylmethane. The as-synthesized products were characterized by structural, compositional, and morphological techniques of X-ray diffraction, selected area electron diffraction, selected area energy dispersive spectroscopy, energy dispersive X-ray analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The results of the annealing process are MoTe2 nanorods with diameters of 50-200 nm and lengths ranging from 0.1 to 3.0 microm. Here, the rodlike structure of MoTe2 is reported for the first time, and added to the list as one kind of new morphology of MoTe2 nanomaterials. A mechanism for the formation of the nanorods is proposed. The sandwich-layered structure of Te-Mo-Te and the similarity in the structure between hexagonal alpha-MoTe2 and hexagonal Te are responsible for the formation of nanorods of MoTe2.  相似文献

This article reports on the fabrication of WO(3) nanorods using an efficient straightforward synthetic technique, without a catalyst, and using a single precursor. The thermal dissociation of WO(OMe)(4) at 700 degrees C in a closed Swagelok cell under an air/inert atmosphere yielded W(18)O(49) nanorods. Annealing of W(18)O(49) at 500 degrees C under an air atmosphere led to the formation of pure WO(3) nanorods. The obtained products are characterized by morphological (scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy), structural (X-ray diffraction analysis, high-resolution scanning electron microscopy, and Raman spectroscopy), and compositional [energy-dispersive X-ray and elemental (C, H, N, S) analysis] measurements. The mechanism of the formation of nonstoichiometric W(18)O(49) nanorods is supported by the measured analytical data and several control experiments.  相似文献
