Preliminary results on composite gel electrolytes (CGEs) with fumed silica (SiO2) as filler added to gel polymeric electrolyte (GPE) based on PMMA, LiCF3SO3 and PC are presented in this paper. Added fumed silica is seen to enhance the mechanical properties of the GPE without changing the σ significantly. The high ionic conductivity (×10−3 S/cm), high transmission in the visible region and nominal variance of σ and ν over a wide temperature window makes these CGEs potential electrolytes for electrochromic windows (ECWs). Nano-composite polymer gel electrolytes were synthesized by using polyethylene oxide (PEO), ammonium tetrafluoroborate (NH4BF4), fumed silica (SiO2), dimethylacetamide (DMA), ethylene carbonate (EC), and propylene carbonate (PC) and characterized by conductivity studies. The effect of donor number of solvent on ionic conductivity of polymer gel electrolytes has been studied. The mechanical strength of the gel electrolytes has been increased with the addition of nano-sized fumed silica along with an enhancement in conductivity. Maximum room temperature ionic conductivity of 2.63 × 10−3 and 2.92 × 10−3 S/cm has been observed for nano-composite gel electrolytes containing 0.1 and 0.5 wt% SiO2 in DMA+1 M NH4BF4+10 wt% PEO, respectively. Nano-composite polymer gel electrolytes having DMA have been found to be thermally and electrically stable over 0 to 90 °C temperature range. Also, the change in conductivity with the passage of time is very small, which may be desirable to make applicable for various smart devices.

Nano-composite polymer electrolytes containing poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVdF-HFP), ammonium tetrafluoroborate (NH4BF4), and nano-size fumed silica (SiO2) have been prepared and characterized by complex impedance spectroscopy. Ionic conductivity of polymer has been found to increase with the addition of NH4BF4, and a maximum conductivity of 3.62 × 10?6 S/cm has been obtained at 30 wt% NH4BF4. The formation of ion aggregates at high concentration of salt has been explained by Bjerrum’s law and mass action considerations. The conductivity of polymer electrolytes has been increased by three orders of magnitude (10?6 to 10?3 S/cm) with the addition of plasticizer, and a maximum conductivity of 1.10 × 10?3 S/cm has been observed at 80 wt% DMA. An increase in conductivity with the addition of nano-size fumed silica is attributed due to the formation of space-charge layers. A maximum conductivity of 7.20 × 10?3 S/cm has been observed for plasticized nano-composite polymer electrolytes at 3 wt% SiO2. X-ray diffraction analysis of polymer electrolyte system was also carried out. A small change in conductivity of nano-composite polymer electrolytes observed over the 30–130 °C temperature range and for a period of 30 days is also desirable for their use in various applications.  相似文献

The preparation of polyethylene-supported poly(vinylidene fluoride)/cellulose acetate butyrate/nano-SiO2 particle (PVDF-CAB-SiO2/PE) blended gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) is reported here. The electrolyte uptake, mechanical properties, thermal stability, and electrochemical performance of these electrolytes are characterized to evaluate their potential application in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). The results indicate that the particle size of SiO2 can be adjusted by the tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) concentration and affects the physicochemical properties of the membrane. By doping 5 wt.% SiO2 (500 nm) into the PVdF-CAB blended polymer, the porosity of the membrane increases from 40 to 42.3 %, the mechanical strength from 117.3 to 138.7 MPa, the electrolyte uptake from 149 to 195 %, the oxidation decomposition potential from 4.7 to 5.2 V, and the ionic conductivity of the corresponding GPE is improved from 1.16 to 2.98 mS cm?1 at ambient temperature. The PVDF-CAB-SiO2/PE-based GPE and the two electrodes are suitably compatible, and the thermal stability is higher than that of the polyethylene (PE) membrane. The LIBs with the as-prepared GPE also exhibit enhanced discharge capacity and cycle stability, indicating the promising application of these GPEs in LIBs.  相似文献

Polymer electrolytes, which hold the key of successful operation of all solid state ionic devices, have been investigated. An amorphous polymer was used to facsimile fast ion transport in the gel polymer electrolytes (GPE) and room temperature conductivity >10−3 S/cm can be attained. Further, these electrolytes were transformed into composites by dispersing inorganic particles of γ-Al2O3 (11 nm in size) in varying wt.%. An enhancement in the conductivity for an optimum concentration using LiClO4 as a salt can be obtained and is described in terms of free charge carrier concentration, while the other family of Lithium salts viz. LiTf, LiIm, LiBETI decreases the conductivity marginally. FTIR spectroscopy supports the observed decrease in terms of more association between fillers and salts. It has been realized that the mechanical integrity of these composites increases manifold, without affecting the conductivity, significantly.  相似文献

Poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO)–poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) blend-based gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) have been prepared by blending equal weights of PEO and PVA in ethylene carbonate (EC), dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), tetrabutylammonium iodide (TBAI), and iodine crystals (I2). The conductivity, diffusion coefficient, number density, and ion mobility of the electrolytes have been calculated from the impedance data obtained from electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements. The GPE with the composition of 7.02 wt%, PVA, 7.02 wt% PEO, 30.11 wt% ethylene carbonate (EC), 30.11 wt% DMSO, 24.08 wt% TBAI and 1.66 wt% I2 exhibits the highest conductivity of 5.5 mS cm?1 at room temperature. Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) with configuration fluorine tin oxide (FTO)/titanium dioxide/N3-dye/GPE/platinum/FTO have been fabricated and tested under the white light of intensity 100 mW cm?2. The DSSC containing the highest conducting GPE exhibits the highest power conversion efficiency, η of 5.36 %.  相似文献

An attempt has been made in the present work to combine gel and composite polymer electrolyte routes together to form a composite polymeric gel electrolyte that is expected to possess high ionic conductivity with good mechanical integrity. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) based composite gel electrolytes using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as guest polymer have been synthesized with 1 molar solution of ammonium thiocyanate (NH4SCN) in dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) and electrically characterized. The ionic conductivity measurements indicate that PEG:PVA:NH4SCN-based composite gel electrolytes are superior (σ max = 5.7 × 10−2 S cm−1) to pristine electrolytes (PEG:NH4SCN system) and conductivity variation with filler concentration remains within an order of magnitude. The observed conductivity maxima have been correlated to PEG:PVA:NH4SCN-and PVA:NH4SCN-type complexes. Temperature dependence of conductivity profiles exhibits Arrhenius behaviour in low temperature regime followed by VTF character at higher temperature.   相似文献

Composite proton-conducting solid electrolytes have been formed from α-zirconium phosphate (α-Zr(HPO4)2·H2O, α-ZrP) and high surface area non-porous fumed silica in varying mole ratios. Conductivity variations as a function of temperature and relative humidity have been characterised and compared to that for a similarly prepared delaminated ZrP (no silica). Conductivities increase with relative humidity and Ea decreases at high silica mole fractions. Conduction is via exposed lamellar surfaces and other microstructural imperfections in the composites.  相似文献

Gel polymer electrolyte (GPE) films comprising of poly(vinylidenefluoride), propylene carbonate, ethylene carbonate and zinc trifluoromethane sulfonate are prepared and characterized. The composition of GPE is optimized to contain minimum liquid components with a maximum specific conductivity of 3.94×10−3 S cm−1 at (25±1) °C. A detailed investigation on the properties such as ionic conductivity, transport number, electrochemical stability window, reversibility of Zn/Zn2+ couple and Zn/gel electrolyte interfacial stability have been carried out. The ionic conductivity follows a VTF behaviour with an activation energy of about 0.0014 eV. Cationic transport number varies from 0.51 at 25 °C to 0.18 at 70 °C. Several cells have been assembled with GPE as the electrolyte, zinc as the anode, γ-MnO2 as the cathode and their charge–discharge behaviour followed. Capacity values of 105, 82, 64 and 37 mAh/g of MnO2 have been achieved at 10, 50, 100 and 200 μA/cm2 discharge current densities, respectively. The discharge capacity values are almost constant for about 55 cycles for all values of current densities. Cyclic voltammetric study of MnO2 electrode in Zn/GPE/MnO2 cell clearly shows intercalation/deintercalation of Zn2+.  相似文献

Composite polymer electrolyte systems composed of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) as the host polymer, lithium trifluoromethanesulphonate (also known as lithium triflate; LiCF3SO3) as dopant salt, and a variety of different concentrations of nano-sized fumed silica (SiO2) as inorganic filler were studied. The effect upon addition of SiO2 on the ionic conductivity of the composite polymer electrolytes was investigated, and it was proven that the ionic conductivity had been enhanced. In addition, the interfacial stability also showed improvement. Maximum conductivity was obtained upon addition of 2 wt.% SiO2. The complexation of PMMA and LiCF3SO3 was verified through Fourier transform infrared studies. The thermal stability of the polymer electrolytes was also found to improve after dispersion of inorganic filler. This was proven in the thermogravimetric studies.  相似文献

Ionic liquid-based gel polymer electrolyte (GPE) has been synthesized using standard solution cast technique. Different weight percent of ionic liquid, 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride (BMIMCl) and liquid electrolyte, ethylene carbonate (EC)–propylene carbonate (PC)–tetra ethyl ammonium tetra fluoro borate (TEABF4) was incorporated in polymer, poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoro propylene (PVdF-HFP) to obtain mechanically stable gel polymer electrolyte film (GPE) having maximum conductivity of ~10−3 S cm−1 at room temperature, which is acceptable from device fabrication point of view. Potential window and ionic transference number has been obtained to examine the potential limit and ionic characteristics of optimized GPE system. Temperature dependence behavior of electrical conductivity curve follows Arrhenius nature in the temperature range of 303–373 K. Pattern of dielectric constant and its loss as a function of frequency and temperature have been studied and is being explained on the basis of electrode interfacial polarization effect. Frequency-dependent conductivity spectra obey the Jonscher’s power law. Further, optimized composition of GPE has been tested successfully for its application in supercapacitor fabrication with activated charcoal as an electrode material. Maximum specific capacitance of 118.6 mF cm−2 equivalent to single electrode specific capacitance of 61.7 F g−1 have been observed for the optimized GPE film.

The addition of polymer to liquid electrolytes containing trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (HCF3SO3) in propylene carbonate (PC) has been found to result in an increase in conductivity of gel electrolytes. The increase in conductivity has been observed to be due to the dissociation of ion aggregates present in the electrolytes which has also been supported by Fourier transform infrared studies. The maximum ionic conductivity (at 25 °C) of 7.55?×?10?3 S/cm has been observed for polymer gel electrolytes containing 1.5 wt% polymethylmethacrylate in 0.5 M solution of HCF3SO3 in PC. Polymer gel electrolytes have been found to be thermally stable up to a temperature of 125 °C by simultaneous differential scanning calorimetry/thermogravimetric analysis studies. The conductivity of polymer gel electrolytes does not show any appreciable change over a limited period of time.  相似文献

High molecular weight polymer poly(vinylidenefluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVdF-HFP), ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (EMIMFSI), and salt lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI)-based free-standing and conducting ionic liquid-based gel polymer electrolytes (ILGPE) have been prepared by solution cast method. Thermal, electrical, and electrochemical properties of 80 wt% IL containing gel polymer electrolyte (GPE) are investigated by thermogravimetric (TGA), impedance spectroscopy, linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), and cyclic voltammetry (CV). The 80 wt% IL containing GPE shows good thermal stability (~?200 °C), ionic conductivity (6.42?×?10?4 S cm?1), lithium ion conductivity (1.40?×?10?4 S cm?1 at 30 °C), and wide electrochemical stability window (~?4.10 V versus Li/Li+ at 30 °C). Furthermore, the surface of LiFePO4 cathode material was modified by graphene oxide, with smooth and uniform coating layer, as confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and with element content, as confirmed by energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectrum. The graphene oxide-coated LiFePO4 cathode shows improved electrochemical performance with a good charge-discharge capacity and cyclic stability up to 50 cycles at 1C rate, as compared with the without coated LiFePO4. At 30 °C, the discharge capacity reaches a maximum value of 104.50 and 95.0 mAh g?1 for graphene oxide-coated LiFePO4 and without coated LiFePO4 at 1C rate respectively. These results indicated improved electrochemical performance of pristine LiFePO4 cathode after coating with graphene oxide.  相似文献

A new copolymer, poly(methyl methacrylate-co-butyl acrylate) (P(MMA-co-BA)), was synthesized by emulsion polymerization with different mass ratio of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and butyl acrylate (BA). The membranes were prepared by phase inversion and corresponding gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) were obtained by immersing the membrane into a liquid electrolyte. In this design, the hard monomer MMA provided the copolymer with good electrolyte uptake, while the soft monomer BA provided the GPE with strong adhesion between the anode and cathode of lithium ion battery. The properties of the resulting product were investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectra, scanning electron spectroscopy, linear sweep voltammetry, thermogravimetric analysis, cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and charge/discharge test. The results show that the obtained GPE based on P(MMA-co-BA) with the mass ratios of MMA and BA = 6:1 exhibits good conductivity (as high as 1.2 × 10?3 S cm?1) at room temperature and high electrochemical stability (up to 4.9 V vs. Li/Li+). With the application of the polyethylene (PE)-supported GPE in Li/Li(Li0.13Ni0.30Mn0.57)O2 battery, the battery presents good cyclic stability (maintaining 95.4 % of its initial discharge capacity after 50 cycles) at room temperature.  相似文献

Gel polymer electrolytes (GPE) obtained by immobilizing a solution of zinc triflate (ZnTr) in an ionic liquid, namely 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide [emim][Tf2N] within a biodegradable polymeric matrix of poly-ε-caprolactone (PCL) were prepared by a simple solvent cast technique for different concentrations of the ionic liquid. The electrolyte with the composition 75 wt% PCL: 25 wt% ZnTr+100 wt% [emim][Tf2N] showed the highest ionic conductivity of 1.1×10−4 S cm−1 at 25 °C and favored by the rich amorphous phase of the GPE as confirmed from room temperature X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD). The morphology of the GPE was examined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) which revealed the homogeneity of the prepared GPE system. The temperature dependence of electrical conductivity of the GPE followed the Arrhenius behavior. The Zn2+ ionic transport number has been determined to be ~0.62 which denotes the predominant contribution of zinc ion towards total ionic conductivity. The electrochemical stability window of GPE is found to be 2.5 V with a thermal stability upto 200 °C. This eco-friendly and safe electrolyte may be used to fabricate compostable batteries, in future, with a suitable selection of other components of the battery system.  相似文献

Poly(vinyl butyral) (PVB) is of particular interest because of its low cost, extremely wide temperature work range (? 20 to 120 °C), and efficient chemical stability. In this study, a gel polymer electrolyte (GPE) containing Li+ ions was fabricated by using dimethylacetylamine (DMA), lithium perchlorate (LiClO4), and PVB. The experimental results indicated that a highly transparent GPE with a high ionic conductivity (σ) could be obtained by mixing glue (DMA with a PVB content of 10 wt%) with a LiClO4 content of 6 wt%. It was found that the ionic conductivity (σ) of the GPE depended on the LiClO4 content, and the GPE with a LiClO4 content of 6 wt% exhibited a maximum σ of 7.73 mS cm?1, a viscosity coefficient of 3360 mPa s, and a transmittance greater than 89% (visible region) at room temperature. Furthermore, PVB improved the electrolyte solution leakage, and the LiClO4 was used as an ion supply source for the high σ of the GPE.  相似文献

A series of gel polymer electrolytes containing PVdF as homo polymer, a mixture of 1:1 Ethylene Carbonate (EC) : Propylene Carbonate (PC) as plasticizer and lithium-bistrifluoromethane sulphone imide [imide — LiN (CF3SO2)2] has been developed. Amounts of polymer (PVdF), plasticizer and the imide lithium salt have been varied as a function of their weight ratio composition in this regard. Dimensionally stable films possessing appreciable room temperature conductivity values have been obtained with respect to certain weight ratio compositions. However, conductivity data have been recorded at different possible temperatures, i.e., from 20 °C to 65 °C. XRD and DSC studies were carried out to characterize the polymer films for better amorphicity and reduced glass transition temperature, respectively. The electrochemical interface stability of the PVdF based gel polymer electrolytes over a range of storage period (24 h – 10 days) have been investigated using A.C. impedance studies. Test cells containing Li/gel polymer electrolyte (GPE)/Li have been subjected to undergo 50 charge-discharge cycles in order to understand the electrochemical performance behaviour of the dimensionally stable films of superior conductivity. The observed capacity fade of less than 20% even after 50 cycles is in favour of the electrochemical stability of the gel polymer electrolyte containing 27.5% PVdF −67.5 % EC+PC −5% imide salt. Cyclic voltammetry studies establish the possibility of a reversible intercalation — deintercalation process involving Li+ ions through the gel polymer electrolyte.  相似文献

The addition of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) having different molecular weights to electrolytes containing ammonium trifluoromethanesulfonate (NH4CF3SO3) in diethyl carbonate (DEC) has been found to result in conductivity enhancement and to yield gel electrolytes with conductivity higher than the corresponding liquid electrolytes. The increase in conductivity has been found to be due to the dissociation of undissociated NH4CF3SO3 and ion aggregates present in the electrolytes, and this has been supported by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy results, which suggests active interaction of PMMA and NH4CF3SO3 in these gel electrolytes. The increase in conductivity also depends upon the molecular weight of the polymer used and is relatively more for PMMA having lower molecular weight. The increase in viscosity with PMMA addition also depends upon the molecular weight of the polymer and is closely related to the conductivity behavior of these electrolytes. Polymer gel electrolytes have been found to be thermally stable up to a temperature of 125 °C.  相似文献

This work examines the effect of lithium trifluoromethanesulfonate (LiCF3SO3) and glycerol on the conductivity and dielectric properties of potato starch-chitosan blend-based electrolytes. The electrolytes are prepared via solution cast technique. From X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, the blend of 50 wt.% starch and 50 wt.% chitosan is found to be the most amorphous blend. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy studies show the interaction between the electrolyte materials. The room temperature conductivity of pure starch-chitosan film is found to be (2.85 ± 1.31) × 10?10 S cm?1. The incorporation of 45 wt.% LiCF3SO3 increases the conductivity to (7.65 ± 2.27) × 10?5 S cm?1. Further conductivity enhancement up to (1.32 ± 0.35) × 10?3 S cm?1 has been observed on addition of 30 wt.% glycerol. This trend in conductivity is verified by XRD and dielectric analysis. The temperature dependence of conductivity of all electrolytes are Arrhenian.  相似文献

The present paper shows the potential of fumed silica as nano-reinforcements in polymers, by considering the limitations and challenges one has to face dealing with nanoparticles in general. The dominating effect of the manufacturing route and surface properties of fumed silica influencing the resulting degree of dispersion and the interfacial adhesion were investigated by electron microscopy (TEM, SEM). The resulting (fracture-) mechanical properties of the fumed silica/epoxy composites were investigated for volume contents of 0.5 vol% and below. Independent of the surface modification, static and dynamic modulus decreased slightly by adding the fumed silica. Hence, the fracture toughness K Ic turned out to be significantly increased (54%) adding only 0.5 vol% of surface modified fumed silica.  相似文献
