Milito and Cruz have introduced a novel adaptive control scheme for finite Markov chains when a finite parametrized family of possible transition matrices is available. The scheme involves the minimization of a composite functional of the observed history of the process incorporating both control and estimation aspects. We consider an operator function T in a Krein space which can formally be written as (0.1)but the last term on the right of (0.1) is replaced by a relatively form‐compact perturbation of a similar form. We study relations between the operator function T, a selfadjoint operator M in some Krein space, associated with T, and an operator which can be constructed with the help of the operator function –T–1. The results are applied to a Sturm‐Liouville problem with a coefficient depending rationally on the eigenvalue parameter.  相似文献

We consider semilinear problems of the form u′ = Au + f(u), where A generates an exponentially decaying compact analytic C 0-semigroup in a Banach space E, f:E α → E is differentiable globally Lipschitz and bounded (E α = D((?A)α) with the graph norm). Under a very general approximation scheme, we prove that attractors for such problems behave upper semicontinuously. If all equilibrium points are hyperbolic, then there is an odd number of them. If, in addition, all global solutions converge as t → ±∞, then the attractors behave lower semicontinuously. This general approximation scheme includes finite element method, projection and finite difference methods. The main assumption on the approximation is the compact convergence of resolvents, which may be applied to many other problems not related to discretization.  相似文献

We study the unique solvability of the Dirichlet problem for the biharmonic equation in the exterior of a compact set under the assumption that a generalized solution of this problem has a bounded Dirichlet integral with weight |x|a. The main objective of this paper is to present a new rectangular nonconforming finite element scheme with the second order convergence behavior for approximation of Maxwell’s equations.Then the corresponding optimal error estimates are derived.The difficulty in construction of this finite element scheme is how to choose a compatible pair of degrees of freedom and shape function space so as to make the consistency error due to the nonconformity of the element being of order O(h 3 ) ,properly one order higher than that of its interpolation error O(h 2 ) in the broken energy norm,where h is the subdivision parameter tending to zero.  相似文献

Given a continuous sublinear operator P: VC(X) from a Hausdorff separable locally convex space V to the Banach space C(X) of continuous functions on a compact set X we prove that the subdifferential ∂P at zero is operator-affinely homeomorphic to the compact subdifferential c Q, i.e., the subdifferential consisting only of compact linear operators, of some compact sublinear operator Q: ł2C(X) from a separable Hilbert space ł2, where the spaces of operators are endowed with the pointwise convergence topology. From the topological viewpoint, this means that the space L c 2, C(X)) of compact linear operators with the pointwise convergence topology is universal with respect to the embedding of the subdifferentials of sublinear operators of the class under consideration.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to characterise the invariant sections-distributions by a proper action. More precisely, we show that if G is a connected Lie group acting on a differentiable vector bundle EV such that the induced action on V is proper, then the topological vector space of the G-invariant linear functionals (on the space of C sections with compact support) equipped with the induced weak-topology (resp. the strong-topology), is isomorphic to the weak (resp. strong) topological dual of the space (of all G-invariant sections σ with compact quotient supp(σ)/G) equipped with a suitable topology; this coincides with the usual C -topology if the orbit space is compact, and with the Schwartz-topology if the group G is compact. In this article, a conservative compact difference scheme is presented for the periodic initial‐value problem of Klein–Gordon–Schrödinger equation. On the basis of some inequalities about norms and the priori estimates, convergence of the difference solution is proved with order O(h42) in maximum norm. This is the further work on compact finite difference schemes for heat equation with Neumann boundary conditions subsequent to the paper, [Sun, Numer Methods Partial Differential Equations (NMPDE) 25 (2009), 1320–1341]. A different compact difference scheme for the one‐dimensional linear heat equation is developed. Truncation errors of the proposed scheme are O2 + h4) for interior mesh point approximation and O2 + h3) for the boundary condition approximation with the uniform partition. The new obtained scheme is similar to the one given by Liao et al. (NMPDE 22 (2006), 600–616), while the major difference lies in no extension of source terms to outside the computational domain any longer. Compared with ones obtained by Zhao et al. (NMPDE 23 (2007), 949–959) and Dai (NMPDE 27 (2011), 436–446), numerical solutions at all mesh points including two boundary points are computed in our new scheme. The significant advantage of this work is to provide a rigorous analysis of convergence order for the obtained compact difference scheme using discrete energy method. The global accuracy is O2 + h4) in discrete maximum norm, although the spatial approximation order at the Neumann boundary is one lower than that for interior mesh points. The analytical techniques are important and can be successfully used to solve the open problem presented by Sun (NMPDE 25 (2009), 1320–1341), where analyzed theoretical convergence order of the scheme by Liao et al. (NMPDE 22 (2006), 600–616) is only O2 + h3.5) while the numerical accuracy is O2 + h4), and convergence order of theoretical analysis for the scheme by Zhao et al. (NMPDE 23 (2007), 949–959) is O2 + h2.5), while the actual numerical accuracy is O2 + h3). Following the procedure used for the new obtained difference scheme in this work, convergence orders of these two schemes can be proved rigorously to be O2 + h4) and O2 + h3), respectively. Meanwhile, extension to the case involving the nonlinear reaction term is also discussed, and the global convergence order O2 + h4) is proved. A compact ADI difference scheme for solving two‐dimensional case is derived. The aim of this paper is to develop a locally compact extension of an arbitrary normed space in such a way that the initial algebraic structure is prolonged in some sense. To obtain such an extension, we weaken vector space axioms allowing a set-valued addition and introduce in this scheme a topological structure, by means of a hypertopology, and a compatible proximity. Finally, the locally compact multivector extension appears as an ultrafilter space. We also provide a Young measure related interpretation of these extensions when the normed space is an Lp space.  相似文献

In this article, a new compact alternating direction implicit finite difference scheme is derived for solving a class of 3‐D nonlinear evolution equations. By the discrete energy method, it is shown that the new difference scheme has good stability and can attain second‐order accuracy in time and fourth‐order accuracy in space with respect to the discrete H1 ‐norm. A Richardson extrapolation algorithm is applied to achieve fourth‐order accuracy in temporal dimension. A space X is called C-closed if every countably compact subset of X is closed in X. We study the properties of C-closed spaces. Among other results, it is shown that countably compact C-closed spaces have countable tightness and under Martin's Axiom or 2ω0<2ω1, C-closed is equivalent to sequential for compact Hausdorff spaces. Furthermore, every hereditarily quasi-k Hausdorff space is Fréchet-Urysohn, which generalizes a theorem of Arhangel'sk in [4]. Also every hereditarily q-space is hereditarily of pointwise countable type and contains an open dense first countable subspace.  相似文献

For the one-dimensional singularly perturbed parabolic reaction-diffusion equation with a perturbation parameter ɛ, where ɛ ∈ (0, 1], the grid approximation of the Dirichlet problem on a rectangular domain in the (x, t)-plane is examined. For small ɛ, a parabolic boundary layer emerges in a neighborhood of the lateral part of the boundary of this domain. A new approach to the construction of ɛ-uniformly converging difference schemes of higher accuracy is developed for initial boundary value problems. The asymptotic construction technique is used to design the base decomposition scheme within which the regular and singular components of the grid solution are solutions to grid subproblems defined on uniform grids. The base scheme converges ɛ-uniformly in the maximum norm at the rate of O(N −2ln2 N + N 0−1), where N + 1 and N 0 + 1 are the numbers of nodes in the space and time meshes, respectively. An application of the Richardson extrapolation technique to the base scheme yields a higher order scheme called the Richardson decomposition scheme. This higher order scheme convergesɛ-uniformly at the rate of O(N −4ln4 N + N 0−2). For fixed values of the parameter, the convergence rate is O(N −4 + N 0−2).  相似文献

In this article, two recent proposed compact schemes for the heat conduction problem with Neumann boundary conditions are analyzed. The first difference scheme was proposed by Zhao, Dai, and Niu (Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 23, (2007), 949–959). The unconditional stability and convergence are proved by the energy methods. The convergence order is O2 + h2.5) in a discrete maximum norm. Numerical examples demonstrate that the convergence order of the scheme can not exceeds O2 + h3). An improved compact scheme is presented, by which the approximate values at the boundary points can be obtained directly. The second scheme was given by Liao, Zhu, and Khaliq (Methods Partial Differential Eq 22, (2006), 600–616). The unconditional stability and convergence are also shown. By the way, it is reported how to avoid computing the values at the fictitious points. Some numerical examples are presented to show the theoretical results. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We consider the following problem: let V? be a finite dimensional vector space, and U be a compact group of ?‐linear automorphisms of V?. The polynomial envelope of a compact set Q ? V? is defined as where ??(V?) denotes the space of holomorphic polynomial functions on V?. The problem is to determine the polynomial envelope of a compact set which is U‐invariant. We solve the problem when U is the isotropy subgroup at the origin of the automorphism group of a bounded symmetric domain of tube type. The case of a domain of type II has been solved by C.
