Lithium metal batteries (LMBs) comprising Li metal anode and high-voltage nickel-rich cathode could potentially realize high capacity and power density. However, suitable electrolytes to tolerate the oxidation on the cathode at high cut-off voltage are urgently needed. Herein, we present an armor-like inorganic-rich cathode electrolyte interphase (CEI) strategy for exploring oxidation-resistant electrolytes for sustaining 4.8 V Li||LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 (NCM622) batteries with pentafluorophenylboronic acid (PFPBA) as the additive. In such CEI, the armored lithium borate surrounded by CEI up-layer represses the dissolution of inner CEI moieties and also improves the Li+ conductivity of CEI while abundant LiF is distributed over whole CEI to enhance the mechanical stability and Li+ conductivity compared with polymer moieties. With such robust Li+ conductive CEI, the Li||NCM622 battery delivered excellent stability at 4.6 V cut-off voltage with 91.2 % capacity retention after 400 cycles. The excellent cycling performance was also obtained even at 4.8 V cut-off voltage.  相似文献

Albeit ethers are favorable electrolyte solvents for lithium (Li) metal anode, their inferior oxidation stability (<4.0 V vs. Li/Li+) is problematic for high-voltage cathodes. Studies of ether electrolytes have been focusing on the archetype glyme structure with ethylene oxide moieties. Herein, we unveil the crucial effect of ion coordination configuration on oxidation stability by varying the ether backbone structure. The designed 1,3-dimethoxypropane (DMP, C3) forms a unique six-membered chelating complex with Li+, whose stronger solvating ability suppresses oxidation side reactions. In addition, the favored hydrogen transfer reaction between C3 and anion induces a dramatic enrichment of LiF (a total atomic ratio of 76.7 %) on the cathode surface. As a result, the C3-based electrolyte enables greatly improved cycling of nickel-rich cathodes under 4.7 V. This study offers fundamental insights into rational electrolyte design for developing high-energy-density batteries.  相似文献

A new Li salt with views to success in electrolytes is synthesized in excellent yields from lithium borohydride with excess 2,2,2‐trifluorethanol (HOTfe) in toluene and at least two equivalents of 1,2‐dimethoxyethane (DME). The salt Li[B(OTfe)4] is obtained in multigram scale without impurities, as long as DME is present during the reaction. It is characterized by heteronuclear magnetic resonance and vibrational spectroscopy (IR and Raman), has high thermal stability (Tdecomposition>271 °C, DSC) and shows long‐term stability in water. The concentration‐dependent electrical conductivity of Li[B(OTfe)4] is measured in water, acetone, EC/DMC, EC/DMC/DME, ethyl acetate and THF at RT In DME (0.8 mol L ?1) it is 3.9 mS cm?1, which is satisfactory for the use in lithium‐sulfur batteries (LiSB). Cyclic voltammetry confirms the electrochemical stability of Li[B(OTfe)4] in a potential range of 0 to 4.8 V vs. Li/Li+. The performance of Li[B(OTfe)4] as conducting salt in a 0.2 mol L ?1 solution in 1:1 wt % DME/DOL is investigated in LiSB test cells. After the 40th cycle, 86 % of the capacity remains, with a coulombic efficiency of around 97 % for each cycle. This indicates a considerable performance improvement for LiSB, if compared to the standard Li[NTf2]/DOL/DME electrolyte system.  相似文献

Batteries with an aqueous catholyte and a Li metal anode have attracted interest owing to their exceptional energy density and high charge/discharge rate. The long‐term operation of such batteries requires that the solid electrolyte separator between the anode and aqueous solutions must be compatible with Li and stable over a wide pH range. Unfortunately, no such compound has yet been reported. In this study, an excellent stability in neutral and strongly basic solutions was observed when using the cubic Li7La3Zr2O12 garnet as a Li‐stable solid electrolyte. The material underwent a Li+/H+ exchange in aqueous solutions. Nevertheless, its structure remained unchanged even under a high exchange rate of 63.6 %. When treated with a 2 M LiOH solution, the Li+/H+ exchange was reversed without any structural change. These observations suggest that cubic Li7La3Zr2O12 is a promising candidate for the separator in aqueous lithium batteries.  相似文献

Singlet oxygen (1O2) causes a major fraction of the parasitic chemistry during the cycling of non‐aqueous alkali metal‐O2 batteries and also contributes to interfacial reactivity of transition‐metal oxide intercalation compounds. We introduce DABCOnium, the mono alkylated form of 1,4‐diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO), as an efficient 1O2 quencher with an unusually high oxidative stability of ca. 4.2 V vs. Li/Li+. Previous quenchers are strongly Lewis basic amines with too low oxidative stability. DABCOnium is an ionic liquid, non‐volatile, highly soluble in the electrolyte, stable against superoxide and peroxide, and compatible with lithium metal. The electrochemical stability covers the required range for metal–O2 batteries and greatly reduces 1O2 related parasitic chemistry as demonstrated for the Li–O2 cell.  相似文献

A fluorine‐doped antiperovskite Li‐ion conductor Li2(OH)X (X=Cl, Br) is shown to be a promising candidate for a solid electrolyte in an all‐solid‐state Li‐ion rechargeable battery. Substitution of F? for OH? transforms orthorhombic Li2OHCl to a room‐temperature cubic phase, which shows electrochemical stability to 9 V versus Li+/Li and two orders of magnitude higher Li‐ion conductivity than that of orthorhombic Li2OHCl. An all‐solid‐state Li/LiFePO4 with F‐doped Li2OHCl as the solid electrolyte showed good cyclability and a high coulombic efficiency over 40 charge/discharge cycles.  相似文献

Compositional effects on the charge‐transport properties of electrolytes for batteries based on room‐temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) are well‐known. However, further understanding is required about the molecular origins of these effects, in particular regarding the replacement of Li by Na. In this work, we investigate the use of RTILs in batteries, by means of both classical molecular dynamics (MD), which provides information about structure and molecular transport, and ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD), which provides information about structure. The focus has been placed on the effect of adding either Na+ or Li+ to 1‐methyl‐1‐butyl‐pyrrolidinium [C4PYR]+ bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide [Tf2N]?. Radial distribution functions show excellent agreement between MD and AIMD, which ensures the validity of the force fields used in the MD. This is corroborated by the MD results for the density, the diffusion coefficients, and the total conductivity of the electrolytes, which reproduce remarkably well the experimental observations for all studied Na/Li concentrations. By extracting partial conductivities, it is demonstrated that the main contribution to the conductivity is that of [C4PYR]+ and [Tf2N]?. However, addition of Na+/Li+, although not significant on its own, produces a dramatic decrease in the partial conductivities of the RTIL ions. The origin of this indirect effect can be traced to the modification of the microscopic structure of the liquid as observed from the radial distribution functions, owing to the formation of [Na(Tf2N)n](n?1)? and [Li(Tf2N)n](n?1)? clusters at high concentrations. This formation hinders the motion of the large ions, hence reducing the total conductivity. We demonstrate that this clustering effect is common to both Li and Na, showing that both ions behave in a similar manner at a microscopic level in spite of their distinct ionic radii. This is an interesting finding for extending Li‐ion and Li‐air technologies to their potentially cheaper Na‐based counterparts.  相似文献

Tetraethylene glycol dimethylether-lithium bis(oxalate)borate (TEGDME-LiBOB) electrolyte is here studied. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements demonstrate that the electrolyte has conductivity higher than 10− 3 S cm− 1 at room temperature and about 10− 2 S cm− 1 at 60 °C, while thermogravimetry indicates a stability extending up to 180 °C. Sweep voltammetry of the electrolyte shows anodic stability extending over 4.6 V vs. Li and cathodic peak at about 1.5 V vs. Li/Li+, caused by a decomposition of LiBOB salt, and following prevented by using a pre-treated Sn-C anode. Furthermore, LiFePO4 electrode is successfully used as cathode in a lithium cell using the TEGDME-LiBOB electrolyte. The promising electrochemical results, the low cost and the very high safety level candidate the electrolyte here reported as a valid alternative to the conventional electrolyte based on fluorinated salts presently used in the lithium ion battery field.  相似文献

Boronium cation-based ionic liquids (ILs) have demonstrated high thermal stability and a >5.8 V electrochemical stability window. Additionally, IL-based electrolytes containing the salt LiTFSI have shown stable cycling against the Li metal anode, the “Holy grail” of rechargeable lithium batteries. However, the basic spectroscopic characterisation needed for further development and effective application is missing for these promising ILs and electrolytes. In this work, attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy and density functional theory (DFT) calculations are used in combination to characterise four ILs and electrolytes based on the [NNBH2]+ and [(TMEDA)BH2]+ boronium cations and the [FSI] and [TFSI] anions. By using this combined experimental and computational approach, proper understanding of the role of different ion-ion interactions for the Li cation coordination environment in the electrolytes was achieved. Furthermore, the calculated vibrational frequencies assisted in the proper mode assignments for the ILs and in providing insights into the spectroscopic features expected at the interface created when they are adsorbed on a Li(001) surface. A reproducible synthesis procedure for [(TMEDA)BH2]+ is also reported. The fundamental findings presented in this work are beneficial for any future studies that utilise IL based electrolytes in next generation Li metal batteries.  相似文献

Compared to anode materials in Li‐ion batteries, the research on cathode materials is far behind, and their capacities are much smaller. Thus, in order to address these issues, we believe that organic conjugated materials could be a solution. In this study, we synthesized two non‐polymeric dianhydrides with large aromatic structures: NDA‐4N (naphthalenetetracarboxylic dianhydride with four nitrogen atoms) and PDA‐4N (perylenetetracarboxylic dianhydride with four nitrogen atoms). Their electrochemical properties have been investigated between 2.0 and 3.9 V (vs. Li+/Li). Benefiting from multi‐electron reactions, NDA‐4N and PDA‐4N could reversibly achieve 79.7 % and 92.3 %, respectively, of their theoretical capacity. Further cycling reveals that the organic compound with a relatively larger aromatic building block could achieve a better stability, as an obvious 36.5 % improvement of the capacity retention was obtained when the backbone was switched from naphthalene to perylene. This study proposes an opportunity to attain promising small‐molecule‐based cathode materials through tailoring organic structures.  相似文献

Lithium-sulfur(Li-S) battery is a promising choice for the next generation of high-energy rechargeable batteries, but its application is impeded by the high dissolution of the polysulfides in commonly used organic electrolyte. Room temperature ionic liquids(RTILs) have been considered as appealing candidates for the electrolytes in Li-S batteries. We investigated the effect of cations in RTILs on the electrochemical performance for Li-S batteries. Ex situ investigation of lithium anode for Li-S batteries indicates that during the discharge/charge process the RTIL with N-methyl-N-propylpyrrolidine cations(P13) can effectively suppress the dissolution of the polysulfides, whereas the RTIL with 1-methyl-3-propyl imidazolium cation(PMIM) barely alleviates the shuttling problem. With 0.5 mol L-1 LiTFSI/P13 TFSI as the electrolyte of Li-S battery, the ketjen black/ sulfur cathode material exhibits high capacity and remarkable cycling stability, which promise the application of the P13-based RTILs in Li-S batteries.  相似文献

The transport properties and lithium insertion mechanism into the first mixed valence silver-copper oxide AgCuO2 and the B-site mixed magnetic delafossite AgCu0.5Mn0.5O2 were investigated by means of four probes DC measurements combined with thermopower measurements and in situ XRD investigations. AgCuO2 and AgCu0.5Mn0.5O2 display p-type conductivity with Seebeck coefficient of Q=+2.46 and +78.83 μV/K and conductivity values of σ=3.2×10−1 and 1.8×10−4 S/cm, respectively. The high conductivity together with the low Seebeck coefficient of AgCuO2 is explained as a result of the mixed valence state between Ag and Cu sites. The electrochemically assisted lithium insertion into AgCuO2 shows a solid solution domain between x=0 and 0.8Li+ followed by a plateau nearby 1.7 V (vs. Li+/Li) entailing the reduction of silver to silver metal accordingly to a displacement reaction. During the solid solution, a rapid structure amorphization was observed. The delafossite AgCu0.5Mn0.5O2 also exhibits Li+/Ag+ displacement reaction in a comparable potential range than AgCuO2; however, with a prior narrow solid solution domain and a less rapid amorphization process. AgCuO2 and AgCu0.5Mn0.5O2 provide a discharge gravimetric capacity of 265 and 230 mA h/g above 1.5 V (vs. Li+/Li), respectively, with no evidence of a new defined phases.  相似文献

A new ternary polymer electrolyte based on thermally cross-linked poly(urethane acrylate) (PUA), lithium bis(trifluoromethansulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) and the ionic liquid N-butyl-N-methylpyrrolidinium TFSI (PYR14TFSI) was developed and tested for application in LMP batteries. The polymer electrolyte was a transparent yellow self-standing material with quite good mechanical properties, i.e., comparable to that of a flexible rubber. The room temperature ionic conductivity of the dry polymer electrolyte was found to be as high as 0.1 mS cm−1 for the compound containing 40 wt% of ionic liquid (PYR14TFSI) and a O/Li ratio of 15/1 (Li+ from LiTFSI). The thermal analysis of the new cross-linked electrolyte showed that it was homogeneous, amorphous and stable over a wide temperature range extending from −40 °C to 100 °C. The homogeneity of the polymer electrolyte was also confirmed by SEM analysis.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC)-reinforced poly(vinylidenefluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVdF-HFP) composite mats have been prepared by electrospinning method. Polymer electrolytes formed by activating the composite mats with 1 M lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide/1-butyl-3-methypyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide electrolyte solution. The addition of 2 wt% NCC in PVdF-HFP improved the electrolyte retention and storage modulus of the separator by 63 and 15 %, respectively. The developed electrolyte demonstrated high value of ionic conductivity viz. 4?×?10?4?S?cm?1 at 30 °C. Linear scan voltammetry revealed a wide electrochemical stability of the composite mat separator up to 5 V (vs. Li+/Li). Cyclic voltammetry of the polymer electrolyte with a graphite electrode in 2.5 to 0 V (vs. Li+/Li) potential range showed a reversible intercalation/de-intercalation of Li+ ions in the graphite. No peaks were observed related to the reduction of the electrolyte on the anode.  相似文献

Available onlineSilicon monoxide(SiO) is a promising anode material fo r lithium-ion batteries(LIBs) due to its high theoretical specific capacity(~2400 mAh/g),low working potential(0.5 V vs.Li~+/Li),low cost, easy synthesis, nontoxicity, abundant natural source and smaller volume expansion than Si.However, low intrinsic electrical conductivity, low initial Coulombic efficiency(ICE) and inevitable volume expansion(~200%) impede its practical application. Here we fabricate SiO/wrinkled MXene composite(SiO-WM) by an electrostatic self-assembly method.Importantly, this method is simple, scalable and taking into account all the issues of SiO.As a result, the SiO-WM exhibits imp roved rate capability, cycling performance and ICE than bare SiO.  相似文献

Applying interlayers is the main strategy to address the large area specific resistance (ASR) of Li/garnet interface. However, studies on eliminating the Li2CO3 and LiOH interfacial lithiophobic contaminants are still insufficient. Here, thermal‐decomposition vapor deposition (TVD) of a carbon modification layer on Li6.75La3Zr1.75Ta0.25O12 (LLZTO) provides a contaminant‐free surface. Owing to the protection of the carbon layer, the air stability of LLZTO is also improved. Moreover, owing to the amorphous structure of the low graphitized carbon (LGC), instant lithiation is achieved, and the ASR of the Li/LLZTO interface is reduced to 9 Ω cm2. Lithium volatilization and Zr4+ reduction are also controllable during TVD. Compared with its high graphitized carbon counterpart (HGC), the LGC‐modified Li/LLZTO interface displays a higher critical current density of 1.2 mA cm?2, as well as moderate Li plating and stripping, which provides enhanced polarization voltage stability.  相似文献

A novel single lithium‐ion (Li‐ion) conducting polymer electrolyte is presented that is composed of the lithium salt of a polyanion, poly[(4‐styrenesulfonyl)(trifluoromethyl(S‐trifluoromethylsulfonylimino)sulfonyl)imide] (PSsTFSI?), and high‐molecular‐weight poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO). The neat LiPSsTFSI ionomer displays a low glass‐transition temperature (44.3 °C; that is, strongly plasticizing effect). The complex of LiPSsTFSI/PEO exhibits a high Li‐ion transference number (tLi+=0.91) and is thermally stable up to 300 °C. Meanwhile, it exhibits a Li‐ion conductivity as high as 1.35×10?4 S cm?1 at 90 °C, which is comparable to that for the classic ambipolar LiTFSI/PEO SPEs at the same temperature. These outstanding properties of the LiPSsTFSI/PEO blended polymer electrolyte would make it promising as solid polymer electrolytes for Li batteries.  相似文献

Rechargeable lithium−oxygen (Li−O2) batteries with high theoretical energy density are considered as promising candidates for portable electronic devices and electric vehicles, whereas their commercial application is hindered due to poor cyclic stability caused by the sluggish kinetics and cathode passivation. Herein, the intrinsic stress originated from the growth and decomposition of the discharge product (lithium peroxide, Li2O2) is employed as a microscopic pressure resource to induce the built-in electric field, further improving the reaction kinetics and interfacial Lithium ion (Li+) transport during cycling. Piezopotential caused by the intrinsic stress-strain of solid Li2O2 is capable of providing the driving force for the separation and transport of carriers, enhancing the Li+ transfer, and thus improving the redox reaction kinetics of Li−O2 batteries. Combined with a variety of in situ characterizations, the catalytic mechanism of barium titanate (BTO), a typical piezoelectric material, was systematically investigated, and the effect of stress-strain transformation on the electrochemical reaction kinetics and Li+ interface transport for the Li−O2 batteries is clearly established. The findings provide deep insight into the surface coupling strategy between intrinsic stress and electric fields to regulate the electrochemical reaction kinetics behavior and enhance the interfacial Li+ transport for battery system.  相似文献

Adaptive biasing force molecular dynamics simulations and density functional theory calculations were performed to understand the interaction of Li+ with pure carbonates and ethylene carbonate (EC)‐based binary mixtures. The most favorable Li carbonate cluster configurations obtained from molecular dynamics simulations were subjected to detailed structural and thermochemistry calculations on the basis of the M06‐2X/6‐311++G(d,p) level of theory. We report the ranking of these electrolytes on the basis of the free energies of Li‐ion solvation in carbonates and EC‐based mixtures. A strong local tetrahedral order involving four carbonates around the Li+ was seen in the first solvation shell. Thermochemistry calculations revealed that the enthalpy of solvation and the Gibbs free energy of solvation of the Li+ ion with carbonates are negative and suggested the ion–carbonate complexation process to be exothermic and spontaneous. Natural bond orbital analysis indicated that Li+ interacts with the lone pairs of electrons on the carbonyl oxygen atom in the primary solvation sphere. These interactions lead to an increase in the carbonyl (C=O) bond lengths, as evidenced by a redshift in the vibrational frequencies [ν(C=O)] and a decrease in the electron density values at the C=O bond critical points in the primary solvation sphere. Quantum theory of atoms in molecules, localized molecular orbital energy decomposition analysis (LMO‐EDA), and noncovalent interaction plots revealed the electrostatic nature of the Li+ ion interactions with the carbonyl oxygen atoms in these complexes. On the basis of LMO‐EDA, the strongest attractive interaction in these complexes was found to be the electrostatic interaction followed by polarization, dispersion, and exchange interactions. Overall, our calculations predicted EC and a binary mixture of EC/dimethyl carbonate to be appropriate electrolytes for Li‐ion batteries, which complies with experiments and other theoretical results.  相似文献

A rechargeable Li metal anode coupled with a high‐voltage cathode is a promising approach to high‐energy‐density batteries exceeding 300 Wh kg?1. Reported here is an advanced dual‐additive electrolyte containing a unique solvation structure and it comprises a tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane additive and LiNO3 in a carbonate‐based electrolyte. This system generates a robust outer Li2O solid electrolyte interface and F‐ and B‐containing conformal cathode electrolyte interphase. The resulting stable ion transport kinetics enables excellent cycling of Li/LiNi0.8Mn0.1Co0.1O2 for 140 cycles with 80 % capacity retention under highly challenging conditions (≈295.1 Wh kg?1 at cell‐level). The electrolyte also exhibits high cycling stability for a 4.6 V LiCoO2 (160 cycles with 89.8 % capacity retention) cathode and 4.95 V LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 cathode.  相似文献
