On the Snider equation

We study the physical content of the Snider quantum transport equation and the origin of a puzzling feature of this equation, which implies contradictory values for the one-particle density operator. We discuss in detail why the two values are in fact not very different provided that the studied particles have sufficiently large wave packets and only a small interaction probability, a condition which puts a limit on the validity of the Snider equation. In order to improve its range of application, we propose a reinterpretation of the equation as a mixed equation relating the real one-particle distribution function (on the left-hand side of the equation) to the free distribution (on the right-hand side), which we have introduced in a recent contribution. In its original form, the Snider equation is valid only when used to generate Boltzmann-type equations where collisions are treated as point processes in space and time (no range, no duration); in this approximation, virial corrections are not included, so that the real and free distributions coincide. If the equation is used beyond this approximation to generate nonlocal and density corrections, we conclude that the results are not necessarily correct.     

Exact solutions to the generalized lienard equation and its applications

Some new exact solutions of the generalized Lienard equation are obtained, and the solutions of the equation are applied to solve nonlinear wave equations with nonlinear terms of any order directly. The generalized one-dimensional Klein-Gordon equation, the generalized Ablowitz (A) equation and the generalized Gerdjikov-Ivanov (GI) equation are investigated and abundant new exact travelling wave solutions are obtained that include solitary wave solutions and triangular periodic wave solutions.      

New exact solitary wave solutions to generalized mKdV equation and generalized Zakharov--Kuzentsov equation

In this paper, based on hyperbolic tanh-function method and homogeneous balance method, and auxiliary equation method, some new exact solitary solutions to the generalized mKdV equation and generalized Zakharov--Kuzentsov equation are constructed by the method of auxiliary equation with function transformation with aid of symbolic computation system Mathematica. The method is of important significance in seeking new exact solutions to the evolution equation with arbitrary nonlinear term.

Relativistic remnants in the reduction of the Bethe-Salpeter equation to the Schrödinger equation

Following Salpeter, the Bethe-Salpeter equation for the bound system of two oppositely charged particles is reduced to a Schrödinger equation for each of the following cases: (a) both particles are spin 1/2 particles, (b) one particle is a spinor while the other is spinless, and (c) both particles are spinless. It is shown that ife is the magnitude of charge carried by each of the particles whose masses are set equal to the electron and proton masses then, strictly speaking, only in case (a) do we obtain the familiar Schrödinger equation for the hydrogen atom. The latter equation is recovered in the other two cases only if relativistic remnants—terms of the order of 10^?5 and smaller—are neglected in comparison with unity. Attention is drawn to a situation where such remnants may not be negligibly small, viz. the problem of confinement of quarks.

The extended auxiliary equation method for the KdV equation with variable coefficients

This paper applies an extended auxiliary equation method to obtain exact solutions of the KdV equation with variable coefficients. As a result, solitary wave solutions, trigonometric function solutions, rational function solutions, Jacobi elliptic doubly periodic wave solutions, and nonsymmetrical kink solution are obtained. It is shown that the extended auxiliary equation method, with the help of a computer symbolic computation system, is reliable and effective in finding exact solutions of variable coefficient nonlinear evolution equations in mathematical physics.
