We describe our observation of strongly oriented total electronic angular momentum J in O(3P2), Ne(3P2), and He(3S1) atoms emerging from a bent magnetic multipole guide, as measured by resonant multiphoton ionisation. This was contrary to our expectation because no additional (uniform) magnetic fields were applied to orient the atoms behind the exit of the guide. Two- and three-photon ionisation techniques were employed to determine the degree of J polarisation, from which we infer that atoms become oriented as a result of a combination of weak fringe fields, possible stray fields, and the fact that molecular beam packets do not oscillate around the geometric center of the bent multipole guide. We conclude that similar effects may exist in other, related experiments and that a detailed characterisation of the degree of orientation is required prior to any study of chemical dynamics or spectroscopy. This paper should serve as a warning for anybody using similar devices not to assume isotropic angular momentum distributions of atoms and molecules emerging from a magnetic guide or a decelerator, particularly when it is bent; whenever possible, the possibility for a J anisotropy should be experimentally checked.  相似文献

Associative ionization in thermal energy (300 K) collisions between Ne(2p 5 3s 3P2), Ar(3p 5 4s 3 P 2) metastable atoms and hydrogen atomsH(1s 2 S 1/2) has been studied by high resolution (20 meV) electron spectrometry. The spectra exhibit structure due to the formation of different vibrational states in the molecular ion and show superimposed rotational structure. Direct information is obtained on the relative population of the rovibronic states and on their energy positions. The well depth of the ionic potential curves has been determined as:D e (NeH + X 1 Σ +)=2.27 (3) eV,D e (ArH + X 1 Σ +)=4.02(3) eV.  相似文献

Experimental cross sections are reported for the 3s(2)3p(5) 2P(o)(3/2)- 3s(2)3p(5) 2P(o)(1/2) transition in Fe9+ located at 1.945 eV. The center-of-mass interaction energies are in the range of 1.72 eV (below threshold) through threshold, to 5.6 eV (2.9 x threshold). Data are compared with results of a 49-state Breit-Pauli R-matrix theory. The experiment detects structures at 3.5 and 4.6 eV corresponding to enhancement of the direct excitation via many narrow, closely spaced resonances about these energies calculated by the theory. Iron is present in practically every astrophysical object, as well as being an impurity in fusion plasmas. Present data are the first electron-energy-loss measurements on a highly charged iron ion.  相似文献

The 2 3P1-to- 2 3P2 interval in atomic helium is measured using a thermal beam of metastable helium atoms excited to the 2 3P state using a 1.08-&mgr;m diode laser. The 2 3P1-to- 2 3P2 transition is driven by 2.29-GHz microwaves in a coaxial transmission line. Our result of 2 291 174.0+/-1.4 kHz is the most precise measurement of helium 2 3P fine structure. This measurement plays a key role in obtaining a new value for the fine-structure constant.  相似文献

A method of investigating reactions of excited and unexcited atoms is discussed. It is based on pulsed photolysis of molecules with simultaneous passage of laser radiation through the working medium. The method proposed is used to investigate the reactions that accompany the photolysis of the molecules RI(CF3I, n-C3F7I, i-C3F7I). The rate constants of the recombination of iodine atoms into I2 in the presence of RI molecules are calculated for the atoms I(2P3/2) and I*(2P1/2), as are the recombination constants of the radicals R into R2 and with the atoms I*(2P1/2) and I(2P3/2) into the RI molecule. It is shown that the I(2P3/2) atoms are much more active in the recombination into Ia and RI than the I*(2P1/2) atoms. The role of the investigated reactions in the kinetics of a photodissociation iodine laser (PDIL) is discussed. The results are compared with the published data.  相似文献

 利用微波放电Cl2/He等离子体作为Cl源,对反应NCl(a1Δ) + I(2P3/2)→NCl(X3Σ) + I(2P1/2)进行了实验研究,得到了较大的I(2P1/2)自发辐射荧光信号,检测到NCl(a1Δ,b1Σ)自发辐射荧光光谱在存在少量I(2P1/2)下发生的显著变化,其中NCl(a1Δ)自发辐射荧光信号降低,同时由于I(2P1/2)的作用,NCl(b1Σ)自发辐射荧光信号大幅度增加。在考察各反应气体流量对I(2P1/2)自发辐射荧光信号的影响时发现,在本次实验条件下,各种气体的最佳流量:He为1~4mmol/s, I2为0.01~0.03mmol/s, Cl2为1.0mmol/s左右,而HN3流量略大于Cl2流量时信号升高幅度开始变缓,约为Cl2流量的两倍时信号不再有显著的变化。  相似文献

Frequency and form are deduced for the normal modes. The calculated and observed deformation frequencies of the CH3O group agree only if the force field of that group has CS symmetry. The C-O, P-O, P=S, and P-Cl modes are examined for characteristic behavior. The integral intensities of the corresponding bands are reported for trichlorothiophosphate, methyldichlorothiophosphate, dimethylchlorothiophosphate, and trimethylthiophospate.The behavior of the integral intensity of the P=S band is discussed.  相似文献

The total attenuation cross-section of Rg (3P2) (Rg = Ar, Kr) by the collision with CF3Br is measured as a function of the magnetic sub level MJ of Rg (3P2) and the collision energy. For Ar (3P2), the attenuation process indicates a MJ dependence, in particular, the cross-section of the MJ = 0 state is lower compared with that for other states. On the other hand, Kr (3P2) shows no MJ dependent attenuation.  相似文献

利用abinitio方法对CH3CH2+O(3P)反应进行了理论研究,在MP2/6311+G(d,p)水平上优化得到了反应途径上的反应物、中间体、过渡态和产物的几何构型和谐振频率,并在QCISD(T)/6311+G(d,p)水平上进行单点能计算.计算结果表明:CH2O+CH3、CH3CHO+H和CH2CH2+OH是主要反应产物,其中CH2O+CH3主要来自反应通道A1:(R)→IM1→TS3→(A),CH3CHO+H主要来自反应通道B1:(R)→IM1→TS4→(B),CH2CH2+OH主要来自直接抽提反应通道C1和C2:(R)→TS1(TS2)→(C).计算结果同时表明该反应生成CO的通道能垒是非常高的,CO应该不是主要产物.  相似文献

首次报告了在分子束条件下,研究Ar(3P0,2)+NH3碰撞解离反应·利用单光子计数方法进行测量,获得了部分转动分辨的初生态产物NH2(2A1)→(2B1)发射谱,并详细地进行了标识·发现主要为(0,v 2',0)→(0,0,0)跃迁(v2'≤5,K'a≤6,J'≤10)。通过对部分分辨较好的光谱范围进行了模拟,得到反应生成的NH2(2A1,v2'=2,k'a =1)态绕b/c轴的转动温度为1050K,高于母体分子NH3的转动温度300K。由亚稳态碰撞传能电子交换机理认为这是由于碰撞对手Ar和母体NH3分离时反冲作用的结果。碰撞传能解离机理和光解过程不同,后者仅观察到轴的转动激发。  相似文献

The electrical resistivity and Hall coefficient of Zn3P2 have been measured for single crystal and thin polycrystalline film samples which were annealed over a range of equilibrium vapor compositions and temperatures. The room temperature electrical resistivity of single crystal samples annealed at 573 K varied from approximately 105Ω-cm for single crystals heated in equilibrium with zinc to 10 Ω-cm for those annealed in a phosphorus rich ambient. Hall measurements indicate that a variation in carrier concentration is responsible for these changes. The experimentally observed dependence of carrier concentration [h° ], (cm?3) on phosphorus pressure is given by [h°] = 1.32 · 1016 [p(P4)]0.13 for samples annealed at 573 K. The experimentally determined pressure dependence is in good agreement with a model based on phosphorus interstitials acting as acceptors. The pressure and temperature dependence of the carrier concentration yield the equilibrium constant KI for the formation of interstitial phosphorus defects according to the reaction

We measure the frequency of the 2(3)S1-->2(3)P(0,1,2) transitions of helium in a metastable beam using an optical frequency comb synthesizer. The relative uncertainty of these measurements ranging from 5x10(-11) to 7x10(-12) is, to our knowledge, the most precise result for any optical helium transition. Considering existing accurate values of the 2(3)P fine structure, we measure a centroid value of the 2(3)S-2(3)P frequency of 276 736 495 624.6(2.4) kHz, improving the previous interferometric measurement by 30 times. New accurate values of the 2(3)S-2(3)P and 2(3)P Lamb-shift energies are obtained.  相似文献

The three 2(3)P fine structure intervals of 4H are measured at an improved accuracy that is sufficient to test two-electron QED theory and to determine the fine structure constant alpha to 14 parts in 10(9). The more accurate determination of alpha, to a precision higher than attained with the quantum Hall and Josephson effects, awaits the reconciliation of two inconsistent theoretical calculations now being compared term by term. A low pressure helium discharge presents experimental uncertainties quite different than for earlier measurements and allows direct measurements of light pressure shifts.  相似文献

The hyperfine structure of the excited 32 P 3/2- and 42 P 3/2-state of Na23 has been investigated in a level-crossing-experiment by means of a detailed analysis of the dependence of the scattered resonance light as a function of the magnetic field. From the experimental curves the following results for the hyperfine structure constantsA andB and for the lifetimesΤ were deduced 32 P 3/2-state: 42 P 3/2-state:A=18.65(10)Mc/sA=6.006(30)g j/1.334Mc/sB=2.82(30)Mc/sB=0.86 (9)g j/1.334Mc/sΤ=1.60 (3) · 10?8sΤ=6.56 (25)1.334/gj·10?8 s. The nuclear electric quadrupolemoment of Na23 derived from these values isQ=0,097 · 10?24 cm2, where the Sternheimer-correction has been applied.  相似文献
