The problem of a semi-infinite crack subjected to an incident stress wave in a general anisotropic elastic solid is considered. The plane wave impinges the crack at a general oblique angle and is of any of the three types propagating in that direction. A related problem of a semi-infinite crack loaded by a pair of concentrated forces moving along the crack surfaces is also considered. In contrast to the conventional approach by Laplace transforms, a Stroh-like formalism is employed to construct the solution directly in the time domain. The solution is shown to depend on a Wiener–Hopf factorization of a symmetric matrix. Closed-form solution of the stress intensity factors is derived. A remarkably simple expression for the energy release rate is obtained for normal incidence.  相似文献

The high-frequency elastodynamic problem involving the excitation of an interface crack of finite width lying between two dissimilar anisotropic elastic half-planes has been analyzed. The crack surface is excited by a pair of time-harmonic antiplane line sources situated at the middle of the cracked surface. The problem has first been reduced to one with the interface crack lying between two dissimilar isotropic elastic half-planes by a transformation of relevant co-ordinates and parameters. The problem has then been formulated as an extended Wiener–Hopf equation (cf. Noble, 1958) and the asymptotic solution for high-frequency has been derived. The expression for the stress intensity factor at the crack tips has been derived and the numerical results for different pairs of materials have been presented graphically.  相似文献

Kernels for non-local elasticity are in general obtained from phonon dispersion relations. However, non-local elastic kernels are in the form of three-dimensional (3D) functions, whereas the dispersion relations are always in the form of one-dimensional (1D) frequency versus wave number curves corresponding to a particular wave direction. In this paper, an approach to build 2D and 3D kernels from 1D phonon dispersion data is presented. Our particular focus is on isotropic media where we show that kernels can be obtained using Fourier–Bessel transform, yielding axisymmetric kernel profiles in reciprocal and real spaces. These kernel functions are designed to satisfy the necessary requirements for stable wave propagation, uniformity of nonlocal stress and stress regularization. The proposed concept is demonstrated by developing some physically meaningful 2D and 3D kernels that will find useful applications in nonlocal mechanics. Relative merits of the kernels obtained via proposed methods are explored by fitting 1D kernels to dispersion data for Argon and using the kernel to understand the size effect in non local energy as seen from molecular simulations. A comparison of proposed kernels is made based on their predictions of stress field around a crack tip singularity.  相似文献

The problem of numerical simulation of the steady-state harmonic vibrations of a layered phononic crystal (elastic periodic composite) with a set of strip-like cracks parallel to the layer boundaries is solved, and the accompanying wave phenomena are considered. The transfer matrix method (propagator matrix method) is used to describe the incident wave field. It allows one not only to construct the wave fields but also to calculate the pass bands and band gaps and to find the localization factor. The wave field scattered by multiple defects is represented by means of an integral approach as a superposition of the fields scattered by all cracks. An integral representation in the form of a convolution of the Fourier symbols of Green’s matrices for the corresponding layered structures and a Fourier transform of the crack opening displacement vector is constructed for each of the scattered fields. The crack opening displacements are determined by the boundary integral equation method using the Bubnov-Galerkin scheme, where Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind, which take into account the behavior of the solution near the crack edges, are chosen as the projection and basis systems. The system of linear algebraic equations with a diagonal predominance of components arising when the system of integral equations is discretized has a block structure. The characteristics describing qualitatively and quantitatively the wave processes that take place under the diffraction of plane elastic waves by multiple cracks in a phononic crystal are analyzed. The resonant properties of a system of defects and the influence of the relative positions and sizes of defects in a layered phononic crystal on the resonant properties are studied. To obtain clearer results and to explain them, the energy flux vector is calculated and the energy surfaces and streamlines corresponding to them are constructed.  相似文献

In this paper we address the vector problem of a 2D half-plane interfacial crack loaded by a general asymmetric distribution of forces acting on its faces. It is shown that the general integral formula for the evaluation of stress intensity factors, as well as high-order terms, requires both symmetric and skew-symmetric weight function matrices. The symmetric weight function matrix is obtained via the solution of a Wiener–Hopf functional equation, whereas the derivation of the skew-symmetric weight function matrix requires the construction of the corresponding full field singular solution. The weight function matrices are then used in the perturbation analysis of a crack advancing quasi-statically along the interface between two dissimilar media. A general and rigorous asymptotic procedure is developed to compute the perturbations of stress intensity factors as well as high-order terms.  相似文献

We consider an elastic plate of infinite length and constant width supported simply along its two parallel edges and having a finite length crack along its centreline. In particular, we look for and find trapped modes (localised oscillations) in the presence of the crack. An explicit wide-spacing approximation based on the Wiener–Hopf technique applied to incident wave scattering by semi-infinite cracks is complemented by an exact formulation of the problem in the form of integro-differential equations. An application of a Galerkin method for the numerical calculation of results from the latter method leads to a novel explicit ‘small-spacing’ approximation. In combination with the wide-spacing results this is shown to provide accurate results for all lengths of crack.  相似文献

The diffraction of a plane electromagnetic wave by two parallel, overlapping, perfectly conducting half-planes with a dielectric loading is considered by using the Fourier transform technique in conjunction with the mode-matching method. This mixed method of formulation enables one to obtain directly two uncoupled modified Wiener–Hopf equations instead of a matrix one. When the overlap length is set to zero and the dielectric loading is removed, the results are shown to coincide exactly with those obtained previously by Abrahams [1]. Numerical results showing the effects of the dielectric loading on the transmitted field are also presented.  相似文献

Influence of a rigid-disc massive inclusion on a neighboring penny-shaped crack induced by the time-harmonic wave propagation in an infinite elastic matrix is investigated by the numerical solution of associated 3D elastodynamic problem. No restrictions on the mutual orientation of interacting objects and direction of wave incidence are assumed. The inclusion is perfectly bonded with a matrix and supposes the translations and rotations, the crack faces are load-free. Frequency-domain problem is reduced to a system of boundary integral equations (BIEs) relative to the interfacial stress jumps (ISJs) on the inclusion and the crack opening displacements (CODs). The subtraction technique in conjunction with mapping technique, under taking into account the structure of solution at the fronts of inclusion and crack, is applied for regularization of BIEs obtained. A discrete analogue of equations is constructed by using the collocation scheme. Numerical calculations are carried out for the grazing incidence of a plane P-wave on the crack, where the interacting inclusion is coplanar and perpendicular to the crack, and has the same radius. The shielding and amplification effects of inclusion are assessed by the analysis of mode-I stress intensity factor (SIF) in the crack vicinity depending on the wave number, incident wave direction, position of the crack front point, inclusion mass, crack-inclusion orientation and distance.  相似文献

The dynamic behavior close to a non-resonant double Hopf bifurcation is analyzed via a frequency-domain technique. Approximate expressions of the periodic solutions are computed using the higher order harmonic balance method while their accuracy and stability have been evaluated through the calculation of the multipliers of the monodromy matrix. Furthermore, the detection of secondary Hopf or torus bifurcations (Neimark–Sacker bifurcation for maps) close to the analyzed singularity has been obtained for a coupled electrical oscillatory circuit. Then, quasi-periodic solutions are likely to exist in certain regions of the parameter space. Extending this analysis to the unfolding of the 1:1 resonant double Hopf bifurcation, cyclic fold and torus bifurcations have also been detected in a controlled oscillatory coupled electrical circuit. The comparison of the results obtained with the suggested technique, and with continuation software packages, has been included.  相似文献

In transversely isotropic elastic solids, there is no surface wave for anti-plane deformation. However, for certain orientations of piezoelectric materials, a surface wave propagating along the free surface (interface) will occur and is called the Bleustein–Gulyaev (Maerfeld–Tournois) wave. The existence of the surface wave strongly influences the crack propagation event. The nature of anti-plane dynamic fracture in piezoelectric materials is fundamentally different from that in purely elastic solids. Piezoelectric surface wave phenomena are clearly seen to be critical to the behavior of the moving crack. In this paper, the problem of dynamic interfacial crack propagation in elastic–piezoelectric bi-materials subjected to uniformly distributed dynamic anti-plane loadings on crack faces is studied. Four situations for different combination of shear wave velocity and the existence of MT surface wave are discussed to completely analyze this problem. The mixed boundary value problem is solved by transform methods together with the Wiener–Hopf and Cagniard–de Hoop techniques. The analytical results of the transient full-field solutions and the dynamic stress intensity factor for the interfacial crack propagation problem are obtained in explicit forms. The numerical results based on analytical solutions are evaluated and are discussed in detail.  相似文献

The slip lines at the tip of a mode I crack are analyzed by using the Wiener–Hopf technique within the scope of a plane (plane-strain) static problem of elastic theory. The crack terminates at the interface with a corner point between two isotropic media. The slip lines are located at the interface. They simulate the plastic zone near the crack tip in a piecewise-homogeneous quasibrittle body in the case where the contacting materials are much stiffer than the more plastic bonding material.  相似文献

In this paper, the problem of a crack embedded in a half-plane piezoelectric solid with traction-induction free boundary is analyzed. A system of singular integral equations is formulated for the materials with general anisotropic piezoelectric properties and for the crack with arbitrary orientation. The kernel functions developed are in complex form for general anisotropic piezoelectric materials and are then specialized to the case of transversely isotropic piezoelectric materials which are in real form. The obtained coupled mechanical and electric real kernel functions may be reduced to those kernel functions for purely elastic problems when the electric effects disappear. The system of singular integral equations is solved numerically and the coupling effects of the mechanical and electric phenomena are presented by the generalized stress intensity factors for transversely isotropic piezoelectric materials.  相似文献

The effect of a crack in an ice sheet on the propagation of surface flexural-gravity waves in a basin of constant depth is analyzed. The ice sheet is simulated by two floating semi-infinite fragments of a thin elastic isotropic plate. As the boundary-contact conditions on the line of contact between the parts of the plate the conditions of continuity of displacements for arbitrary slopes simulating one ice-floe overlying on another and free-edge conditions (crack) are considered. The dependence of the amplitude characteristics of the perturbations on the thickness of the ice, its degree of compression, the incident wave frequency, the depth of the basin, and the form of the boundary-contact conditions is investigated. Problems of wave diffraction on inhomogeneities of an elastic plate were solved in [1, 2], and on a crack in the ice sheet in [3, 4].Sevastopol. In this paper, the dynamic behavior of a Griffith crack in a piezoelectric material strip subjected to the harmonic anti-plane shear waves is investigated by use of the non-local theory for impermeable crack surface conditions. To overcome the mathematical difficulties, a one-dimensional non-local kernel is used instead of a two-dimensional one for the anti-plane dynamic problem to obtain the stress and the electric displacement near at the crack tip. By means of the Fourier transform, the problem can be solved with the help of two pairs of dual integral equations. These equations are solved using the Schmidt method. Contrary to the classical solution, it is found that no stress and electric displacement singularity is present near the crack tip. The non-local dynamic elastic solutions yield a finite hoop stress near the crack tip, thus allowing for a fracture criterion based on the maximum dynamic stress hypothesis. The finite hoop stress at the crack tip depends on the crack length, the thickness of the strip, the circular frequency of incident wave and the lattice parameter.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the elastic wave scattering induced by a penny-shaped interface crack in coated materials. Using the integral transform, the problem of wave scattering is reduced to a set of singular integral equations in matrix form. The singular integral equations are solved by the asymptotic analysis and contour integral technique, and the expressions for the stress and displacement as well as the dynamic stress intensity factors (SIFs) are obtained. Using numerical analysis, this approach is verified by the finite element method (FEM), and the numerical results agree well with the theoretical results. For various crack sizes and material combinations, the relations between the SIFs and the incident frequency are analyzed, and the amplitudes of the crack opening displacements (CODs) are plotted versus incident wavenumber. The investigation provides a theoretical basis for the dynamic failure analysis and nondestructive evaluation of coated materials.  相似文献

A three-dimensional wave field formed owing to diffraction of low-frequency waves on a curved crack in an infinite elastic solid at a large distance from the defect is studied by the method of boundary integral equations. Direction diagrams of the scattered field versus the excentricity of the crack surface and wavenumber are obtained for different directions of incidence of planar longitudinal waves onto a gently sloping spheroidal crack. __________ Translated from Prikladnaya Mekhanika i Tekhnicheskaya Fizika, Vol. 47, No. 4, pp. 115–123, July–August, 2006.  相似文献
